Album view in order of date added. Is it possible?

album view in order of date added. Is it possible?
In v10 I got used to ordering my music library with the newest additions on top, date added with the album view if it didn't take up more space.
Now it's just the songs and I really don't like this. Album view is interesting but usless in alphebetical order which seems to be the default.
I was told by another person here to use a smart playlist but the method they suggested was not clear.
Can someone please explain how to do this or if there is a better alternative for someone who liked the old song view>date added>with album art?
-thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. By "nr" are you referring to the shipping invoice that comes with the book? If so the answer is no. To order a book the library containing the book needs to be used.
If someone had a copy of the library that created the book initially they could order a book on their own Apple account without you knowing about it. *+BUT they would have to have a copy of the iPhoto LIbrary to do so.+*
So unless you think someone had access to your computer which housed the library a second copy of the book could not have been ordered.

Yeah - not really. Sorry - but you will need to get it fixed so you can back it up. You are going to want to Restore your new iPhone from that backup when you get it, so it will really be worth it.
As soon as you get your new iPhone, set up automatic iCloud backups, or if you don't have Wifi, then it is really important to get into the habit of backing your device up weekly to iTunes.
    Best of luck!

  • Viewing records ordered by date

actually i have inserted the "date" in msaccess database table using "dd-mm-yy" format
now i want to view records of that table in ascending order of the date
    so i wrote the query:
    Select * from TRANSACTIONS order by aco_date ASC,aco_time ASC";
but the problem is if i write this it compares the day first and then the month and then the year since i have inserted the date in dd-mm-yy
but logically it should compare the year first then the month and then the day...hw can i do that?

With most databases I have used (I don't use MSAccess), the ordering by date works as you want as long as the field you are inserting the date into is a designated date/time field and not a String/VARCHAR field. If your aco_date field is a DATE field and this is still not working, you might look at the thread [Order by date with MS Access|http://forums.devshed.com/database-management-46/order-by-date-with-ms-access-71503.html] for additional ideas.

  • IMporting multiple albums at once: sort on date added AND album or artist

When importing multiple albums at once, iTunes ads them in the library in an all mixed up order.
This makes it very annoying to change song info. I have to multi-select songs from the same album (clicking while pressing the control button) and then change stuff.
    1. Why can't iTunes automaticaly keep tracks from the same album together when adding new music from multiple albums?
    2. Why can't we sort by added date AND another column like artist or album?
    any solutions are very welcome

The order iTunes is showing the tracks can be changed. Select the album column heading to get tracks list in album order. Normally within an album the tracks will list in track order when viewing this way.

  • SMART PLAYLISTS:  ORGANIZING BY DATE ADDED & KEEPING ALBUM TRKS IN ORDER

    Dear Knowledgeable Users of iTunes:
I would like to create a a Smart Playlist that will do the 2 following things:
    1) Play albums in the order of date added
    (I solved this one)
    2) Play the songs in the order they come on the album
    (Couldn't solve this...)
Summary: playing music in the order it was added to the library AND maintaing the original track order of the albums...
Is this to much to ask, it seems pretty practical-
In an attempt to accomplish this, I made a Smart Playist & selected:
Date Added: In the last 24 months
-This solved the 1st problem beautifuly
But now the albums play backwards- (as you know, iTunes rips album's songs in their original order, so when your sort by 'Recently Added', each album plays backwards ! -last song first, first song last and so on- This is problem I want to solve-
    To summerize:
How can listen to my most recently added albums while the songs in their original order?
The point of all this is for listening to music on my iPod-
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated-
    Thanks in advance!

There are some issues to with live updating & smart playlists on iTunes 9, and also those containing mixed content, e.g. Podcasts & Music, though I'm not sure that is the problem here. You should be able to sort the playlist on any heading you like and then use *Copy to Play Order* to control the order that will be synced.

  • My friend wanted me to help him sort his bookmarks. I put them in alphebetical order. He decided he wanted them put back in "date added" order...

I've found a workaround and now his bookmarks are back in order by date added, but they are reversed, i.e., the last bookmark is at the top.
For those wanting the workaround (as I see this question was never properly answered) I opened "Show all Bookmarks", clicked on Bookmarks Menu, and View, Sort, and Sort by Added.
Then highlighted all his bookmarks, and copied.
Then created a new folder in the Bookmarks Menu, and pasted to that new folder.
I then created another folder and did it again as a backup, and deleted all his bookmarks in alphabetical order, then opened one of the folders I just made, copied the bookmarks and pasted them into the Bookmarks Menu.
(I made that extra folder just in case things didn't go as planned. He would have understandably freaked out had I deleted all his bookmarks without making another backup of them! After I saw that everything was cool, I deleted the extra folder.)
But still the order is reversed.
How do I reverse the reversed order?

I am trying to think how your friends bookmarks came to be in a different order permanently and how you may be able to reverse that.
I note you have been copying bookmark folders. You have already discovered that the sort orders used to display may be varied and that second clicks toggle the order to be ascending or descending. If you copy a bookmark folder contents they retain the order that they were sorted on in the display when copied.
So if you have a folder. The bookmarks are in the order in which they were added. You may however display them in Alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order or reverse of the order added etc.
'''Try this I hope it will work'''
#Obviously back up the bookmarks first.
    # In the bookmarks library re-sort the folder book marks menu.
    # Create a new folder.
    # Copy that the resorted bookmarks to the new folder.
    # Delete the mis-sorted content and copy the new content over it

  • Get synced photos in order of date

I've just synced my iPhone with my Aperture library for the first time. I used to sync it with iPhoto. I never had a problem getting my albums (projects) in order of date since I managed them manually.
    Now....
I have my folders organized in years (2000, 2001 and so on)
The albums (projects) in the folders are in alphabetical order (instead of date order which I would prefer)
When I'm in iTunes and are deciding what albums (projects) to sync they of course show in the same order as they are in Aperture. Which means they come into iPhone in the same alphabetical order. So if I have 3 albums (projects) in my folder called 2000, the albums (projects) called Australia, Brazil and Columbia, that is the order they come in. Even thou I would like them to come in Brazil (taken in Jan), Columbia (June) and Australia (Nov).
What I would like is to have all my albums (projects) on my iPhone in order of date.
Is there anyway I can make that happen?
I know it sounds complicated but it's really not.. just hard to explain.
    Thanks so much
    Sophie

It seems you can only sort by Kind or Name unless you do it manually. To do it manually, just drag them around to where you want them. You'll need to mind the indicators that appear as you drag to ensure you are not placing things inside of folders but rather between them when dragging.

  • Import tracks in album order when viewing by Date Added

I've seen some older posts regarding this, but nothing recently. Here's my issue, and I can't believe more people aren't up in arms about it:
I keep iTunes sorted by Date Added, so that my latest stuff is at the top -- pretty normal for a music listener, right?
Say I have a folder of mp3s and I drag them into iTunes. For a long time in years past, even though you're dragging the entire album in, they would just get added in the order that iTunes wanted, rather than in album order. Then, at some point recently, I assume after an update to iTunes (?), they magically started being added in the correct order. I was really happy about this, as the random order entire albums were added in was extremely annoying.
Now something's happened and the old behavior is back.
Does anyone know how to drag an album's worth of mp3s into iTunes and have iTunes load them in in *album* order, so that when you view by Date Added, they show your album as it would look on the back of a cd or whatever, in the correct order?

This won't directly answer your question, but I find that if I make a playlist of the album, then they appear in the correct order in that playlist.

  • Albums view by date added

Hi, I really like the new Albums view. I would like it to show me my newest albums first (not by year but by date added). I can do that in the Songs view, which is just super boring, and I can create a playlist containing my newest music, but then I am stuck with this huge sidebar, that I don't know how to get rid off  (and a big useless title bar that just shows me the name of the playlist). I think the Playlists view really *****... Is there another way? Thank you

I know what you want to do, and unfortunately you cannot do it. The only way you can sort by date added is in the songs tab. The downside is that there is no album art which spoils the point. It would be nice to sort the albums tab by date added so you can find the newest music in an instant rather than search through your library.
A simple solution -- The Zune software has the feature and the interface is cleaner (see attached picture). I use Zune to listen to music and iTunes to sync. If iTunes would be able to sort albums by date added that would eliminate my need for Zune.
Hear that Apple??? Simple solution that every use can benefit from.

  • Can you sort albums by release date, rather than year, in album view?

I love the new album view in iTunes 11, but the only problem I have with it is sometimes albums are in the wrong order.
For example, last year Green Day released a trilogy of albums called ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! but since they were released in the same year, they're ordered as ¡Dos!, ¡Tré, ¡Uno! when sorted by artist and then year which really doesn't sit right with me.
In short, the sorting options for albums view are very limited, is there any way to extend them?
Also I'm aware that I could, as a cheap fix, change the sorting in album to the release date backwards, but I'd rather not do that as it would make it a bit more troublesome for me to navigate my albums on my iPhone.
    Thanks!

I agree that Apple should improve the year field to be an actual date.
I am not 100% happy doing this, but when you have multiple albums from a single artist for the same release year, a temporary solution is to chage the album title by adding an outline type letter before album titles for that year, so that they appear in the correct order:
    David Bowie
    1977
    a. Low
    David Bowie
    1977
    b. "Heroes"
    etc
This could help in the short term until Apple changes that field.

  • Itunes (11.2.1)- ALBUM SORT BY DATE ADDED ?

    Hello,
So before updating to Itunes version 11.2.1 my albums in itunes were visible and were sorted by ''date added''(even though I never chose this option). So the case would be that everytime I added a new song it would appear at the very end of my itunes library under ''Albums''. After updating it however, I have encountered a problem; Now my albums section is sorted in another way (Alphabetical order), So any newly added music will appear somewhere deep within all my other songs and not at the end of my library of albums.
Please help me resolve this problem since I have invested into music for many years, and can't find my music now.

I use an older iTunes so I don't know exactly how they have hte new one set up.  Presumably there is still a list view mode.  Use view options to display the date added column then sort by that.

  • "Date Added" sort order problem when importing folders

I sort by "Date Added" to view my iTunes library, and use the middle "view" button to view tracks grouped as albums with artwork. This works mighty well except when I'm importing folders containing the files in an album, such as those I get from eMusic--the tracks are displayed out of order when I do this. The only solution I've found so far is to import one track at a time. Any ideas how I can get those tracks in there in the right order when importing a folder? Any scripts hanging around that will do it right? Thanks to all....

What sort order do you have selecting in the sort drop-down?  There is no "correct" sort order.  You can sort on any metadata you can show in the Browser.  The sort drop-down is located in the top border of the Browser, near the left corner.  Every container in Aperture retains the sort order it last had.  When you manually move an Image in the Browser, the sort order is changed to "Manual".

  • When I sort by date added in Column View in Finder, how can I make the most recent files appear at the top of the list?(Mavericks)

In 10.8, when I sorted Finder by date added or date created in column view, the most recent files would appear at the top of the list. Currently, this happens as it should in every single view mode EXCEPT column view (which is pretty much the only view I ever use). Currently, I have a folder with over 2000 files in it that date back to 2011, so now I have to scroll for like ten minutes just te get to files that were most recently added. Who in their right mind would want to sort by last modified with the oldest result listed FIRST? Ridiculous. I can't figure this out. Any help?

Thanks for the reply leroydouglas! Unfurtunately this doesn't cause the column to be ordered correctly either. After selecting this option, the files seem to be ordered by label, and the most recently added file is somewhere in the middle of the list. I'd like it to be at the top, and have other files/folders descend in retrochronological order by their add date.
Any other input from the community would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just confirming that this is/is not expected behavior. I'd be super bummed to find out that this IS expected behavior, as it's really counterintuitive and extremely inconvenient.
    Thanks again!

  • Organising by date added in track order

    hi.
i have my itunes organised by date added so i can see whats newest in my library.
the only issue is that it doesnt list the tracks in the right order in the album and sometimes splits each album into smaller batches of tracks.
is there a solution to this?
    thanks

There is no general solution for what you want, but if you sort your CDs in reverse track order before you rip them it should work as you want. For multi-disc albums, rip the last disc first. When purchasing albums from iTunes pause the downloads and then download the tracks one by one in reverse order. If importing content from your hard drive then these can also be dragged in one at a time (must be at least one second apart) in reverse track order.
The above assumes you want the most recently added album sorted at the top, with its tracks in a natural playback order.
