Album view in playlists?

Is there a way of having playlists on the iPhone display in album view rather than song view?

In all playlists songs are alpha listed and not grouped by album.  I need songs track listed with gouped albums as the default view.

I'm a life long apple user. I grew up using the Apple IIe/c in elementary school back in the 80’s. Then I went to art school in the 90's where almost everything creative was done on Apple machines. I have only ever owned Apple computers. Between my wife and I we have owned about 20 of their devices. We currently have a Mac Pro in the office, which I generally use of my work, a Macbook Pro laptop for my wife, 2 iPhones, 2 iPads and a Mac Mini connected to our TV in the family room, an Apple Time Capsule and an Apple Airport Express. And right now I'm really starting to second think all the reasons I've ever used Apple. It's these sort of asinine decisions that just make them look so out of touch with users and with the actual good things they do. Cover Flow was a great feature that made searching easy -- especially when you just weren't sure what you wanted to listen to. Cover Flow was the equivalent to looking through the albums/cds on your shelf. Why Apple, why? You've got a lot of explaining to do. I won't be upgrading to iTunes 11 until it's added back.

  • Why is album art no longer viewable when viewing a playlist as a list?

I used to view my playlists as a list sorted by album by artist by year and the album art really broke things up and kept it manageable (put the album art on the leftmost column).  Not even an option?  Seriously feels like a downgrade.  Impossible to find or sort my music.  Program in general and search in particular are SUPER slow (and I'm running this on a Core i5 with 12GB of RAM.
Only real question I have besides this is how do I downgrade to the previous version?  This is unusable.

  • How to view one playlist by albums?  (Not entire music library)

Albums are importatnt to me.  I listen to the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album for instance.  I have no desire to have those songs shuffled etc.  However, I also like the Genius Mixes.  They take songs from my list of singles and intelligently order them like a radio dj would.
Let's say I put my 5 favorite albums in a playlist called "Favorite Albums:.  I sync this to my Ipod touch.  I can now turn my ipod horizontally and see my albums and easily pick the one I want.
Now let's unsync that playlist and sync one of my Genius Mix
Now I can play the Genius Mix and here songs by Singers/Songwriters (for instance) that are intelligently chosen and ordered.  I've tried this on Itunes on my desktop and I like how it works.
    Here's the problem:
Let's try to sync my "Favortie Albums" playlist AND my Genius Mix
I now go to my Ipod Touch and find my "Favorite Albums" playlist.  It shows a list of songs.  ( don't see an option for album view anywhere).  Now I turn my Ipod trouch horizontally expecting to see the albums in that playlist.  Instead I see dozens and dozens of albums.  My albums are in there somewhere but my Ipod touch is showing me every song on my Ipod in album view.  The other albums are there because the Genius mix needs thosee songs.
At first I thought my Ipod touch was mixing all of my playlists and Genius Mix togethor.  No matter what playlist I opened I saw dozens and dozens of albums from other plalyslists.
It took me hours on the phone with Itunes to figure out that there was not real problem witht playlists.  The problem is that I was assuming if you are looking at a playlist and turn the ipod horizontally you would see that playlists.
Ok, so that is the way it operates and I didn't know it.  But.  I can't find any way to view a playlist by albums on my ipod touch.
Yes, I can look at artists, songs, albums, playlists.  But looking at albums doesn;t help.  It shows ALL of the albums and in list view.
The agent was very friendly but had no idea what a Genius Mix was.  I had to carefully explain to him that a Genius mix is not a Genius Playlist etc etc.
In the end his suggestion was that I don't use Genius Mixes and only sync the albums I want.  My answer to that is that someone at itunes came up with this Genius Mix thing and the tout how wonderful it is.  It's pretty bad to then say "Why don't you just use shuffle?"
Can anyone help me figure out a way to have Genius Mixes on my Ipod Touch and be able to look through my plalist by albums?

You can burn that playlist as data CD/DVD (backup). Go to the preferences menu and make sure that data CD/DVD is selected. If the playlist is too large you could split it by moving a part of the files to a second playlist.

  • Songs appear in "Album" view but not "Playlist" view--sync problem

I sync/drag songs from iTunes to my iPod manually. One album in particular shows up on my iPod when I view the list of songs by "Album," but when I view the list of songs by my Beatles "Playlist", songs from all albums except one show up.
For instance... in "Album"view (on my iPod), I see "Abbey Road" with all its tracks. I also see "Let It Be" with all its tracks. BUT, when I switch over to the Beatles "Playlist,", I see all the tracks from "Abbey Road" but NO tracks from "Let It Be."
So the only way for me to listen to the tracks from "Let It Be" is to play the Album. If I play the Beatles playlist, none of the "Let It Be" songs will play.
    Can someone help?
By the way, my iTunes version is 7.6, and my iPods version is 1.2.3---- so both apps are up to date.

    Ramone4130,
The first and easiest troubleshooting step involves replacing/refreshing the com.apple.iCal.plist file.
Quit iCal and find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Drag the file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.

  • Album View in a playlist?

I've made a playlist with the last seven albums that I've bought, but the songs are in "List View"; no album artwork. The titles just run into another, you can't easily tell where one album starts and the other ends. iTunes gives you choices; List View/Album View/Coverflow. When you look at the playlist in iTunes you can see the album art if you choose "Album View" or Coverflow, but on the iPod you just see the song titles, A.K.A. "List View". Is there any way to set it up so that you can see the album art while viewing a playlist on the iPod?

This seems to be restricted to iOS devices. I, too, want to be able to play Playlist content by album (which is the way the Playlist was built). This can be done within iTunes, itself. ATV2 and the Remote App do not allow this. So, seems to be a matter of programming.
Would be very useful. For example, I have a Smart Playlist for anything not played within the last 2 years. At my computer, from iTunes, I can play albums within this Playlist. In my easy-chair, via ATV2, no can do--track only. And most of my collection is classical music where album trumps track.

  • How to have an album view in a playlist?

    Hi,
I have some playlists in iTunes. When i access them on my ATV2, the titles are shown in one large list. I would rather prefer to have an Album view on my ATV2 when i scroll within a playlist. Is this possible and if yes, how?
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • How to show only complete albums in Albums view NOT singles?

I will try to explain this sa simple as I can:
    - In albums view I ONLY want my completed albums listed.
    - I tried to rename the album title of all my singles or songs with incomplete albums as "singles/incomplete albums" but they are still listed individually by artists under albums. So instead of one album names "singles.." there are hundreds with that name, just as before, one big hodgepodge of albums.
    - I just want all my full albums (500 or so) listed nice and neat NOT like 2000 albums listed.
    - To have my albums nice and sorted I have always had to make an individual playlist for eah album, under a folder called "albums". I figured by iTunes 11 I would be able to have only my full albums listed in one place AND be able to use the new slick looking interface.
    Thanks!

    - I tried to rename the album title of all my singles or songs with incomplete albums as "singles/incomplete albums"
Then you have already done the hard part.  Now, just make a smart playlist with the rule "Album" "does not contain" "incomplete".  Go into that smart playlist and switch to Album view.

  • How to get compilations to show up as one album in Albums view

In albums view, the NPR Austin 100 song compilations (1 folder with 100 songs) I imported to itunes show up as 100 different albums with 1 song each, which is a mess and makes finding and viewing my regular 10+ song albums difficult. Also I want to be able to click play on those albums and it plays the 100 songs instead of having them scattered. How can I get the 100 songs to show up as 1 album with 100 songs instead of 100 albums with 1 song each? In songs view they all have the same genre (NPR Music's The Austin 100 (2013)). So far I checked "part of a compilation" and tried a few mass edits on every song like setting Album Artist to the same name, which got them in 1 album but the track numbers are messed up and most of these songs don't have track numbers so I'm back to square 1. I deleted the songs, imported the NPR folder again and set all songs to "part of a compilation." What next? I know I can make playlists but I tried that and it didn't solve the problem and I still see all these 1 song albums in albums view and on my phone. I'm not crazy about editing track numbers 1 by 1 on hundreds-thousands of songs. Maybe itunes needs to change something like ask questions when we import folders, eg "do you want all of these songs in 1 album?" and then it automatically assigns track numbers.
I just found this possible solution but we have to mess with scripts and it might not work for everyone Automatically Number Songs in iTunes

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things. For compilations of tracks by different artists set the album artist to Various Artists and also set Part of a compilation to Yes on the Options tab.
For deeper problems see Grouping tracks into albums.

  • Is it possible to show play counts in Artists or Album view in iTunes 11?

There are some beautiful new changes to iTunes 11, but also some things I really like have been taken away. One of them is being able to see my playcouts as I browse. Not just in the playlist or songs list view.
Does anyone know if there is any way to show play counts in Artists or Album view in iTunes 11?

    typo... sorry
I have 3 product codes that I want to report on - Mold, Repair, and Production.  For Mold and Repair, I want to print out only the top 1 job for each order.  For Production, I want to print all jobs.  I have GH1 to group by ProdCode.  GH2 groups by Orders.  Detail A section has a formula to suppress if ProdCode = Production.  Detail B suppresses if ProdCode is not Production.  I can get the suppresion to work but I don't know how to get the Top 1 to show when Detail A is shown.
Obviously I'm new at Crystal Reports - about 3 weeks.
    Thanks for your help...

  • Can I bring back larger cover art in album view in iTunes 11

In iTunes 10 there was a slider on the top right that allowed you to make the album art very big. Four or Five albums per row was the way I liked it and it worked very well for my living room media center setup.
I absolutely hate the new maximum size of the album art in the "Albums" view of iTunes 11. It makes me want to reverse engineer it and add the setting back in.
Any ideas on how to get this back, or Apple can we please have this option back?

  • Album view in iTunes 11 unusable because singles showing as "Unknown Album"

I have lots of "singles" in my collection (ie mp3s with nothing in the "album" field) as well as lots of albums.
Because of this, the "albums" view in iTunes 11 is virtually unusable, as 80% of the music shows as "Unknown Album" and prevents me from just browsing genuine albums.
Is there a ways to fix this so that the "albums" view only contains tracks that really are from albums?  Nothing I've tried (e.g. flagging them as "part of a compilation") seems to make a difference.
    thanks,

Thanks - I have already done sonething similar with a number of smart-playlists myself, but this is a poor workaround and means the pre-built views in iTunes are useless.  It's also something else to think about every time I import a new song so that it doesn't get lost.
Like lots of people, I've got loads of singles, mixes, radio shows and other music that is not groupable by album, and I find it ridiculous that iTunes hinders, rather than helps, to manage this..  Coupled with the appalling new search functionality this new version makes it harder than ever to navigate my music collection.

  • Album view in order of date added. Is it possible?

album view in order of date added. Is it possible?
In v10 I got used to ordering my music library with the newest additions on top, date added with the album view if it didn't take up more space.
Now it's just the songs and I really don't like this. Album view is interesting but usless in alphebetical order which seems to be the default.
I was told by another person here to use a smart playlist but the method they suggested was not clear.
Can someone please explain how to do this or if there is a better alternative for someone who liked the old song view>date added>with album art?
    -thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. By "nr" are you referring to the shipping invoice that comes with the book? If so the answer is no. To order a book the library containing the book needs to be used.
If someone had a copy of the library that created the book initially they could order a book on their own Apple account without you knowing about it. *+BUT they would have to have a copy of the iPhoto LIbrary to do so.+*
So unless you think someone had access to your computer which housed the library a second copy of the book could not have been ordered.

  • How to keep Single Songs out of Album View?  iTunes11

What is the proper way to label singles so that Album View does not contain an 'Unknown Album' for each artist with at least one song?
You would think leaving the 'album artist' and the 'album' field blank it would not put that song in album view, but that is not the case in iTunes 11.  This is how it works on my phone (4S) (iOS 6.0.1) .
A work-around is to label all singles with the correct artist and title, but label all singles with the same album artist (i.e. 'various artists') and with the same album (i.e. 'singles'), but if you did that iTunes will automatically move all the files from the correct artist folder into one giant 'various artists' folder. (if the 'keep itunes media folder organized box is checked)
What is the best practice to resolve this nearly useless album view function?

A cleaner solution is to create a playlist with your running albums, then update the other smart playlists with "Playlist" not in "Running Albums".
That way, you don't need to update each and every playlist when you add a new running album, you just need to put it in the Running Albums playlist.

  • ITunes stops playing in Album View

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if iTunes has always been this way, but I never noticed this in iTunes 9. In Album View, if I'm listening to an album and start looking through the rest of my library, iTunes will finish playing the song it is currently playing then stop altogether. It won't move onto the next song on the album, I haven't clicked on any other song anywhere else in the library. Can I get it to keep playing the album I originally told it to until I click play on another album or song regardless of what album I am looking at while in Album View?
    Thanks

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
This really irritating behaviour is not new. It happens whenever you use the search field or the column browser to display a subsection of the library from the same playlist that is currently playing media. If the selection no longer includes the album you were playing everything grinds to a halt at the end of the current track. Either queue the album up in iTunes DJ or having started the album playing use a different playlist to explore or edit your library.
