Album view not staying put...

After updating my Touch to the new 1.1.4, the album view will reset to the top of the list when moving in and out of the list to view other items. That view use to stay where you last were when you moved to other pages, now it won't on mine. This problem has cropped up in different update versions. Some fixed them while others brought it back.
Anyone else have this problem?

On my ipod touch, if I pick an album to view its contents and then go back to the album list, the list won't reset. If I pick another view such as artists or genres, then when I pick the album view again, it resets to the top of the list. I have version 1.1.4

Window views not staying put

I open a window and set for Icon View, set the size etc., then check Always Open In Icon View (in this example), I reboot and the icon size is bigger or sometimes it's in list view!
Repaired permissions, ran Cocktail, dumped the finder prefs, still no joy.
This is making me crazy. What am I missing? Anybody?

I"m sorry, what do you mean by, "nuke the thing"?
Try using a different user account and see if it still happens.
System Preferences/Accounts Click the gold icon lock, type in your admin password. Click the + and create a new account, name it: Test Now login to that account and see if your Finder preferences accepts the Icon view preference. If this works, then the issue is isolated to your Home Folder only, not the entire system.
One thing that might help... get Onyx. It's a free disk utility available here;

Run the Maintenance and Cleaning scripts once a week, you can also Repair Permissions and check the S.M.A.R.T. status with Onyx.

ITunes album view not working and no album art?

Hi all -
Bought a 64GB iPhone 5 and uploaded my music via my desktop - all seems to have run fine, except that album artwork isn't showing for many of them, even when I select the option "View artwork".
I've read on another thread that ID3 tags of 2.3 or lower are not supported, but find it hard to accept there's no compatibility here - so am presuming user error rather than Apple trying to force users to manually update all their albums (I have 57GB of music - don't want to update album art on everything!)
Also, I've just downloaded and installed iTunes on my laptop, and connected the iPhone to laptop. However, the album view options aren't working. All songs are simply listed by album name, but none of the column listing features work either (ie, sort by name, genre, etc).
I presumed iTunes had crashed, but restarting the laptop and the same happens. Am on latest software for iTunes and iOS 6.
One more curiosity - how do I download my music from the iPhone to the desktop? I had presumed it would do this automatically (ie, into the iTunes media folder) but so far nothing.
Or is it simply the case that iTunes is preparing to download all music into the desktop, hence why it's not working properly? Simply because there's no notice of anything happening.
Apologies for any newbie questions - found myself using the iPad quite a lot for apps, but never for music as it was only the 16GB version, so have been sold into joining the Apple walled garden. Would be nice to get these issues sorted out, though.

Yes, I found the importer now. I also fixed my problem, but with 'brute force':
For each of the folders not being indexed, including the ~/Library/Mail folder, I turned on Privacy in the Spotlight System Prefs and then turned it off again. This seems to have fixed things. I did this for some old document folders too and that also seems to have worked.
So far so good. thanks again. For now I'm marking this as solved.

How to show only complete albums in Albums view NOT singles?

I will try to explain this sa simple as I can:
- In albums view I ONLY want my completed albums listed.
- I tried to rename the album title of all my singles or songs with incomplete albums as "singles/incomplete albums" but they are still listed individually by artists under albums. So instead of one album names "singles.." there are hundreds with that name, just as before, one big hodgepodge of albums.
- I just want all my full albums (500 or so) listed nice and neat NOT like 2000 albums listed.
- To have my albums nice and sorted I have always had to make an individual playlist for eah album, under a folder called "albums". I figured by iTunes 11 I would be able to have only my full albums listed in one place AND be able to use the new slick looking interface.

Then you have already done the hard part. Now, just make a smart playlist with the rule "Album" "does not contain" "incomplete". Go into that smart playlist and switch to Album view.

TV Shows in Album VIew Not Sorted By Episode

I just downloaded iTunes 7.1 and my TV episodes are no longer sorted by episode when I'm in album view. They are correctly sorted by season, however. Does iTunes now use the EpisodeID instead of the Episode # to sort, because I put in the names of the episodes for the EpisodeID?

Content Viewer not staying logged in

Since the last update, many of us in our office having been having problems with content viewer (iPad) not staying logged in. Its to the point where we are loggin in 10 times a day. Tried everything I can thing of, deleting all, reinstalling.. etc, with no luck. Any ideas out there?

CS6 synchronize window not staying put

Most frustratingly the CS6 synchronize window is not staying where its put. This used to work just fine in CS5. I tried saving the screen layout while it's open as well. Each time it comes up in some default position and I have to move across monitors and expand the window where I want it to sit. Anybody else having the same issue? Any solutions? Can you please fix this Adobe in the next release? Thank You.

I haven't made the switch to CS6 yet, so I don't have any experience to add either way, sorry.
As far as getting the info to someone within Adobe that could make a difference if it's a bug in CS6 (and not just some kind of conflict on your machine), make sure to report your bug here:

IOS 8 rearrange activities not staying put

When I rearrange the Activities order on the iPhone 6, they don't stay in the same order after I quit app. This happens in every app (Safari, Photos, etc).
Any idea why the order is not staying in memory?

Okay my IT Director and I had the same problem, On your DC go to AD-Users and Computers, go to the properties of the name, in the security tab click on advance button on the bottom. In advance the button on the bottom should say disable inheritance. If it says enable inheritance, then click on enable. Once I did this all my exchange emails came pouring in. Hope this helps anybody. Problem solved

Sound Input will not stay put!

Hi, if i go to
System Preferences>Sound>
and change the input level to my desired choice for my built in mic on my imac g5 isight, well, the level will not stay the same.
I constantly use Ichat, and use the audio chat feature with a few friends.
And it bugs me cause I have to go to change my preferences every single time.
Is there a cure for this.
I would trash the sound prefereces p.list , but im not sure which one it is.
Anyone , can you shed some light on , a
small issue, but important to me.

Album view not working correctly

I just bought two albums via the Store (first two albums by Men At Work). Whenever I view them, iTunes insists on separating the first track from all the other tracks. (It does this in all three viewing modes - List, Grid, or Cover Flow.)
The albums themselves are organized as they should be...iTunes isn't actually separating the albums, only the viewing of them. (Meaning, if I play the first track, then let it go, it'll go on to the second track, just like any other album.) What's going on? How can I stop iTunes from doing this?
Also, in List mode, iTunes only does this when I tell it to show the Artwork column. Why would it do this? The album art itself is exactly the same for all tracks.
Neither of these are compilations, BTW. Also, the tracks all have exactly the same name for the artist, album artist, etc. (Believe me, I checked that too.)

Did you look at One album, still too many covers? Select all the tracks from one of the albums, change the Artist & *Album Artist* to *Men At WorkX* and add a trailling X to the Album title. On the Sorting tab put ticks against the *Sort Artist*, *Sort Album Artist* & *Sort Album* boxes then click OK to apply the changes. This should merge the album into one entity. Now put back the back the correct values and the album should stay joined up.

Pictures in albums are not staying in given order

I've made an album from several pictures I've uploaded to iPhoto '11 (version 9.1.5) and plan to continue adding to it throughout the year. I want the pictures to be in a specific order, but it seems that whenever I quit the program, the next time I log in, they've rearranged themselves randomly.
Is there a way to set a specific order for pictures in an album and have them stay that way?

When and how did this happen? What were you doing, when you first noticed, that your photos are missing? Were you installing or upgrading software? Running maintainance scripts, cleaner applications? Importing new photos? Or did iPhoto crash all of a sudden? Has the size of your photo library changed? Is iPhoto the only program that is having trouble?
Does your iPhoto Library still contain your photos? Quit iPhoto, select the iPhoto Libary in the Finder (by default it is in your "Pictures" folder), ctrl-click the library and select "Show package contents" from the pop-up menu. In the Finder window that opens, look for folders named "Masters","Previews, "Originals", "Modified". Do you see any image files inside the subfolders of these folders?
If your photos are still inside your photo library, then try to repair rebuild the library. Check, if you have a backup of your iphoto library, before you rebuild; if not, make first a backup.
Then launch the library first aid panel by firmly pressing and holding the ⌥⌘-keys, while double clicking the iPhoto icon . Hold the keys down, until you see the panel. Then select "Rebuild database" from the panel.

Artwork for my vinyl albums will not stay installed in iTunes.

I have digitized my vinyl albums and put them in iTunes. I have added the album artwork as a .jpg file that resides in the same folder as the music files which are in .aiff format. Initially the artwork displays properly but when I leave iTunes and return the artwork is missing. Most of the .jpg files are from the Internet but I have also tried pictures taken with my own camera with the same result. Is there a resolution or size requirement for artwork files? Is there a format requirement?
I have used the drag and drop method to add artwork but also have used the File --> Get Info --> Artwork --> Add... --> Choose file method.
Interestingly, some artwork seems to stick while others do not. I am not moving these files around, however, I am using an external hard drive for storage of the music and artwork files.

Album import not staying together

When I import an album to my library and onto the IPOD Nano the Library does not put all the tracks into a single album. Can I manually drag all the songs into an album so the library stores it that way and I can sync onto the IPOD ? I'm using software 1.0.4
I saw a "manual manage music and videos" potion but don't want to select that without more info. Any help appreciated.

Icons not staying put in folder windows

Just recently if I rearrange the icons in a folder window after I do a restart the icons reaarange themselves and the folder window resizes back to a previous size and arrangement - it's driving me mad! Do I need to dump some preference file or clear some cache or the like - if so where would I find said preference or cache?

Information about the properties of a particular window, such as the view, icon size and arrangement, window size, and so on, are stored in an invisible file in every folder that has been opened. The file is named .DS_Store, the simplest way to see this is to get one of the utilities, such as TinkerTool, which allows you to see invisibles, or to use the list command in Terminal:
ls -al /
hit the retrun key, and it will show all the files and folders at the root level of the drive. It sounds like the .DS_Store file is not being written to. You could try trashing it. If you use Terminal you would type:
rm /.DS_Store
hit return, and it will delete the .DS_Store file for the root level of the drive. Open the window and size and arrange to your tastes, then close the window. Make sure the window is closed when you shutdown. You can verify that a new .DS_Store file was created by using the list command again and check the date. Thus I just trashed mine, then opened and reset stuff and ran the list command:

Palm Desktop entry will not stay put

Recent change, not sure why. Every entry or edit in the Palm Desktop Calendar drops into the previous day (ie: entry into Friday whe completed fall into thursday). I must drag it on to the day after the entry I want for it to stay where it belongs. I have used the Desktop for 3-4 years and never saw this before. Any suggestions?

Please make sure your PC does have the daylight savings update installed on your PC, ususally windows updates or macintosh updates takes care of this. Also for your device, please go to www.palm.com/dstpalm to see if you need the DST updater for your PDA. Seems like the symptoms your describing is fitting the bill.
