Albums cover size

Hi,
I downloaded itunes 11.0 for Windows 7.
In Album mode, the covers are huge.  I don't see any way to make them smaller so more appear in each line. Any one know how I can fix this issue?
Thanks,
idavycrockett

wish I did.
I'm not getting any image on many CDs that I import, nor when I rt click Get Album Artwork.  Any suggestions?

  • Is there a maximum album cover size in Music app?

Is there a maximum album cover artwork size in the Music app? I've noticed that some albums — that I've scanned the covers for — will display the cover in iTunes but not on my iPhone, so I'm wondering whether there's a maximum filesize or maximum dimensions.

    No
There is a maximum numb of pages in a book (100 pages) and the larges page I am aware of holds 16 photos so the maximun number of photos you could have in a book would be 1600

  • Original album cover size (media server)

    Hello!
I am using the media server on my E4200v2 to transfer music fles to my Linn streamer.
I am using Linn Kinsky (iPad). I put JPEG files named "Folder" in each folder with music files. Now I can see album covers in Kinsky. But they are small. Is it possible to view covers in original size?
    Thanks in advance.

    These were my actions:
    1) I created folders;
    2) I put music files and JPEG files named "Folder" (resolution of JPEG files is 768X768 pixels) in each folder;
    3) I pressed "re-scan all folders" button.
Then I open folders with a help of Kinsky and I can see all the album covers, but when I try to expand (to full screen of iPad) any picture I can see it only in low resolution.

  • Best size and resolution to design album cover?

now, from what I understand, the dimensions of a cd album cover are 800 by 800 pixels.........but would it not be a better idea to design it with bigger dimensions and high resolution then scale down to proper size when done?
what dimensions and resolution would you recommend designing for best results?

800 by 800 is too low and too small for that.
Have a look at this tutorial: http://www.shutterstock.com/newsletter/155/How_to_Design_a_CD_Cover_Using_Photoshop-2.html
    Mainly the following:
CD booklets and covers tend to be around 4.75 inches by 4.75 inches. As such, you will want to create a new document in Photoshop with those dimensions... For print, you would obviously want to use a high resolution (300dpi)

  • Change cover size in itunes 11

Is there any posibility to change the cover size in the new iTunes 11 ?

It depends which view you are in.
If you are in the Album view you can't change it, but in the Artists and Genre views you can.

  • Streaming Album Cover Screen-Saver crash AND Fix

I suffered from an ATV stutter/freeze and crash whenever I tried to stream music and use Album Cover Art as the screen-saver.
I tried a small, no LARGE experiment (over 35,000 songs) in iTunes. I had *a lot* of Exotica and Space Age Pop from out of print lps and I used to save full scans of the front and back covers in each song. Some were over 1800 pixels in size, adding a couple of MGs to each song! This wasn't an issue with drive space or my current iMac/iTunes for me.
I resized any album art over 600 -700 pixels. If the art was over this size, I used a script to export the art to a 600 x 600 pixel jpg and re-embedded them in the album.
Now I can happily stream, use other macs and still have stutter-free art work on the HD TV. I'm convinced now as some others here, that the ATV is just not powerful enough to push through a graphics intensive task while playing music. Right now as I type, I'm listening to internet radio, my partner is surfing on the other mac AND the screen-saver is displaying my Album Art in all its glory. This was impossible last week. No wonder ATV doesn't offer a visualizer.
    A

A valuable observation Al, I also conducted some simple experiments and found that setting the time taken for the screensaver to kick in for longer resolved the issues with poor response when using the album art as a screensaver.
Perhaps you might share your script so that others might try your diagnosis.

  • No album cover art in Finder for mp3's?  What a downgrade.

I have album cover art imbedded in ALL my mp3 files and they used to show up perfectly in Finder.  Now, I see NOTHING.  Cover art still shows in iTunes, but not Finder.  Any fix for this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello  Nikicampos
I have no such problem with iTunes with a library of more than 30000 songs.
I used to be a Weekend DJ with many many Albums.
Which view in iTunes does not give you an Artwork.
One thing to note is the list view, will give you an Artwork only if there is more song than the size of the Artwork icon.
    here is an example
I left only two song in the Hush Album to show that list view, wont give you the Artwork in this case.
but as you can see, the info of the selected song show the artwork.
in the finder, without Icon Preview checked, you wont see the artwork.
    With icon Preview Activated
    I do have more question
Why do you convert the song ?
if the original song is an aiff, wav or a movie, the artwork cannot be inserted inside the file, so converting it will result into a song without artwork.
Sometime you will see a file marked MPEG-3 but it is a video. Open it into Quicktime, export it as a audio file then put it in iTunes, and if the file is mp3 or mp4, AAC, then you can insert the Artwork.
I probably dont fully understand your problem, give me more info but I am using iTunes since the very first version and I never hard a problem with artwork.
Could you give more detail about your problems?
    Thank you
    Franco

  • Map itunes album cover cache folder

i have a small SSD hard drive as my main drive and my music is on another hard drive is there a way i can map it on the other drive?  because it is filling up my ssd drive.  maybe a registry redirect or something??
i try to go in to itunes\Edit\Preferences\Advanced    and change itunes media folder location but it still puts the album cover cache folder in c drive

It's a cache of the artwork.
It's on the file system, not in memory.
You don't have any options over it's size.
I think what you're asking for is a more effective cache. Much as I'm now commited to iTunes (it runs my iPod and I'm addicted to podcasts) Windows Media Player does a much better job of handling artwork. In WMP the art is rendered on the off-screen sections of the page so that it is immediately visible as you scroll up & down. In iTunes it appears to be fetched as an afterthought.

  • Can you vary the Album Art Size on the iPod?

I would like to know if you can change the size of the album art. It currently shows a small picture of the album. I would like to have the album cover most of the screen. Please advise.

While a song is playing, click the select (center) button twice.
This should display the album art full-screen.
    Cheers!

  • 12inch (vinyl) cover size.

Hi, what are the specific measurements for designing an album cover (vinyl) for print, it's a 12 inch, also if it's gonna be used for CD and digital releases, do I do different sizes or can I have one size and it's scaled down/up to fit whatever format?
    Thanks

    Chad,
Everything you said in post #3 will contribute to a crappy print job. Everything! And a gut mistrust of this client.
    1. Get a template and mechanical requirements for printing from the artist. (Please forgive the smirk on my face at the moment).
    2. Make sure they've received a written estimate from you and have initialed their approval. (Trust me -- you're gonna be screwed if you don't. Be sure to include: "All changes are additionally billable at $XX/hr. All out-of-pocket expenses are billable." And be sure to let them know, in writing, all AAs as they occur.)
    3. If need be, contact the artists for print production-quality publicity photos (not low-res Web pictures), submitted to you either electronically or as clean, high-quality prints. Tell 'em: GIGO -- garbage in; garbage out.
    4. Make sure they understand that you get a check for payment in full
at the same time you drop off the final art. (Trust me on this one!!!)
    5. Do not underestimate the importance of #4 with this client.
    6. Good luck!

  • Album Cover Picture

When transferring album tracks to ipod classic is there away of transferring the album cover into all tracks, or must I transfer the cover into each tracks separately?.
The CD is a classic mix of 146 tracks.

*Why is artwork not showing on my iPod when it's there in iTunes?*
iTunes will display a cover in many of it's views provided at least one track from the album has embedded artwork. The iPod appears to load only the artwork from track one to create the cover flow and album views which means that it can sometimes fail to display art for albums even when you can see the art in iTunes. Further, when tracks are played on the iPod, artwork is displayed if and only if it exists in the currently playing track, so track one may show art while track two does not.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=trackswithoutartwork for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, find the album in the main music folder, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably good enough for the iPod. iTunes Store art is generally 600x600.
    *Rebuild artwork cache*
Sometimes the artwork cache becomes corrupt and fails to show correct artwork, even when this is properly set up in iTunes. To rebuild the artwork cache, connect your iPod to iTunes. Locate the iPod in the Sources pane on the left-hand side, then select the Music tab. Remove the tick from *Display album artwork on your iPod*, sync the iPod, reselect the option & sync again.

  • Format and settings when scanning for album cover artwork?

When scanning pictures for use as album cover artwork, which format works best?  Also, what settings are best: number of colors (millions or billions), and resolution in dpi?

Thanks for responding, Limnos.  I get the the file-size trade-off.
I guess what i need to know now is which file formats are permitted, and more to the point, do any of them work better or worse than the others in iTunes?  In particular, i see that the JPEG 2000 format is extremely efficient, but is there anything about it that makes it, or any of the other image formats, a poor choice for iTunes?

  • Compilations: Can you show just one album cover with mixes/compiations?

Using the current iTunes (11.01) is a misery. I have numerous mix discs and compilations, and for each title eg Royksopp's BACK TO MINE mix, there are about 15 tiles of the album, one for each song. In extreme cases, there may be over 100. Since I have God knows how many songs, easily in the tens of thousands, this is an extremely inefficient way to display my collection.
Is there any way to display albums with just the one album cover and title showing each time? THis is ridiculous.
    Thanks in advance.

    Wow!
    Is that really so?
I'm not questioning your answer. Just want to make sure before I say OK and let it be. I had heard that iTunes/iPod forces you to do things their way, this is an example, I guess!
    Thanks for the input.
I guess I'll just have to leave it be!
Is iTunes the only way to deal with iPod? Are there any other programs?

  • Album Cover art

I like the idea of being able to browse using cover art but it is only a useful feature if you can get most cover art . There are many albums for which iTunes has album cover art, albums which I own original copies of, for which I can't get album art.
Examples: Sigur Ros /Saeglour, T-Bone Burnett /True False Identity, Paul Simon/ Surprise, Graceland, all of Van Morrison's albums, most Dylan and Neil Young albums and many others.
Apple put this feature on I Tunes, but many album covers which you show on the Itunes store website don't download. I have both checked "automatically download missing album artwork" in preferences and requested Get album artwork in the Advanced Tab . If I control click on the album artwork on iTunes store, I can't even copy the image to paste it in manually. Also, when I request album art I often get an "unable to download certain artwork " message with no further explanation. If I'm supposed to buy the album art I'd like to know how and how much.
    What's up?

The spelling was ok since almost all were entered using gracenote. Anyway it suddenly started working. without changing anything I could tell I asked again to get album artwork from the Advanced tab and it started downloading 400 album covers. whatever. So my problem wasn't answered but it is solved. thanks for the google image search idea. So I guess I'll mark it answered.
