Albums in iPod no longer in order

Since I updated my iPad 2 to iOS7 every single album on the iPod has rearranged the songs so they're no longer in order. On iTunes and my iPhone they're all in the correct order but for some reason it's different on my iPad.

I had this issue on my iPad and although there is a kinda 'fix' for it - open Music App, view album, close Music App and reopen it, this isn't convenient if you have lots of music.
For me the only fix was to reset ipad to factory settings and manually add things back in from iTunes, a pain but it worked.
I have reported this to Apple via www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html so hopefully it will be fixed at some point in the future.
Regards,
Steve

  • Having downloaded update 10.5, the artists section of my iPod no longer recognises artists who feature on compilation albums. Instead it groups them under the album artist, ie various artists. Any suggestions?

Having downloaded iTunes update 10.5, my iPod no longer recognises in the artists section those artists who feature on various artists' compilation albums. Instead the iPod groups them under various artists, and, if you are looking for a particular artist, who only features on a compilation, you have to remember or search to see which various artist album they feature on - all very frustrating, especially as it worked OK before the update. So far I've not updated any more - so I've not taken 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 because 10.5 caused me so many problems, but I'm wondering if the solution could be in those updates
I've tried amending the iTunes library artist and album artist, and it is possible to get the iPod to recognise the artists, but the downside is that the library then removes the artist from the album, and you then have to play those tracks individually
Has anyone suffered the same problem and, if so, has a solution been found?

Do yo have Shuffle turned on?
    - On the Now Playing screen on the right hand side below the scrubber bar are crossed arrows. That is the Shuffle control. Tap it until it is white for no shuffle
    - There is also Shake to Shuffle in Settings>Music
    If still problem:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • HT1351 Some albums tracks are in the correct order in Itunes on my laptop but are out of order when input to ipod. How do I correct this please?

Some of my albums are not in the correct order when transferred from itunes on my laptop to my ipod classic. Can anyone suggest how I can correct this please

It goes by the Track # field, as seen in on a list in iTunes.  So, make sure the Track # field is correctly entered for each song when you review the album on a list in iTunes.  Also, make sure the Album field is entered identically for all the songs on the album.
You can edit those fields by doing a Get Info on a song, and going to the Info windows's Info tab,

  • My ipod no longer sorts songs alphabetically

My itunes is fine.  But my ipod no longer lists songs alphabetically.  It mixes the As with the Bs, Bs with the Cs and so on.  The bar on the view screen that indicates which letter of the alphabet is being displayed is randomly placed in the middle of a letter.  Sometimes songs from the end of the alphabet are listed randomly in the middle of a different letter. Also, my search functions don't always work.  Sometimes songs that I know are on my ipod don't show up in the song view.  I search the artist view, sometimes that helps, sometimes not.  Then I switch to the album view, again, sometimes this helps.  Often I need to use the search bar at the top of the screen.  Today I typed in a song name and got zero results, then a few seconds later the entire screen changed and the song showed up.I have tried restoring my ipod, syncing my ipod, rebooting my ipod, nothing has helped.  My ipod has become exceedingly dyslexic.  Help.

Storage space on the iPod would not affect shuffled playlists or playlist shuffling, though substantially full iPods may wind up skipping songs on larger playlists after a while, and require a restart.  As for compressing the files themselves, you can automatically re-encode files to a lower bitrate by checking the box on the summary page when your iPod is connected to your PC/Mac.
As for the shuffle problem, after restarting your iPod (hold the center button and Menu for a few seconds, until the Apple logo appears), make sure you're telling the iPod to shuffle the songs in a playlist by repeatedly clicking the center button until the Suffle Menu comes up, then scroll to the right to turn it on.  From that song forward, the playlists' contents should be shuffled every time the playlist ends, or is accessed from a new song.
Shuffle does sometimes turn itself off, I've found, so double-check the setting is still on.  Also, iPods shuffle by randomly assigning a playlist order for your songs, which is different from traditional shuffle (on, say, iTunes or Windows Media Player, where the new song is determined at random upon the current track ending.  The iPod only chooses a random order of songs when you shuffle, to conserve battery life and queue up songs coming up on the playlist in the event of a shock).

  • Sometimes when I play songs in Itunes by double clicking on them, Itunes will place the song as the first one on the album.  It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order.

Sometimes when I play songs in Itunes by double clicking on them, Itunes will place the song as the first one on the album.  It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order.  This onloy seems to happen when I double-click on the song to play it in itunes.  If I just hit play, this doesnt happen.  As a result, I have several albums now in which the songs are in the wrong order.  Its very frustrating, as this error then transfers over to my ipod every time I sync it.  When I choose the info. for the songs, it has them correctly listed (i.e., it lists the songs as being #1 of 19 on the CD, for example).  But then the song will have placed by Itunes as #5 of 19 for whatever reason.  Itunes does not do this every time, but does it with enough frequency to be maddening.  Any thoughts?

The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...
at Dougs Scripts, there is one called iTunes Track CPR that might work
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=itunestrackcpr
or, if you just want a list of de-linked tracks, go to
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/
and find the script called List MIA's, this will create a text file listing all de-linked tracks

  • My ipod no longer turns on, what can i do?

My ipod no longer turns on, for a while it would randomly freeze in the middle of something, or just exit the game or music. Then it began to jump to the next song in the middle of a song, no it shows a black screen and wont turn on. i charged it, and plugged it into the computer. the computer didnt register it. what can i do? i have tried resetting it.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why can't we go from 'genres' to 'artist' and then 'albums' in ipod for ipad?

The Ipod App on Ipad2 lets you go from 'artists' to their albums and songs. You can see a list of all songs sorted by albums for each artist.
When you sort by 'genres' you only get thumbnails of genres (instead of a list) which rotate to show songs directly.
I'd like to get the same interface then iTunes on Mac with the navigation columns to go from genres to artists to albums and then songs.
    Is that possible?
    Thanks

Same here. It's a very clumsy UI. On Mac, iPod, iPhone, it's always been genre-artist-album, as it should be. For some bizarre reason apple decided to do away with that logical UI convention on the iPad only. But who wants a list of hundreds of "songs" after clicking a genre. What makes it worse is that they aren't even grouped by album or collection, but in alphabetical order. What? Who chooses/seeks music by what letter a song starts with? I don't even know the names of most of the "songs" I have because I listen mostly to jazz and classical. I sure hope they get a different UI person or team on the Music app for iPad.

  • IPod no longer registering in Windows or iTunes

I am registering this as a new thread as the previous two related threads are marked as answered and it is obvious from the content that they are definitely not!
I have a problem with my 30GB iPod no longer registering in Windows or in iTunes since I updated to iTunes 7.1.1.5. In my case when I plugged in my iPod not only did iTunes not recognise it but iTunes froze and my whole laptop slowed until I forced iTunes closed.
I have tried all remedies previously mentioned but no success. The 'reset all settings' mentioned in previous thead has not worked either but at least iTunes does not now freeze when I plug my iPod in.
My iPod works with my daughters laptop operating on Windows 2000. Is this therefore a problem with the new iTunes and Windows XP? I notice all the other people with problems are running XP. If so is this a bug and can Apple release a fix?
Dell Latitude   Windows XP Pro   with SP2

I am adding to this thread as well because I am having exactly the same problem. Sorry if it seems a bit long, but I want all to have as much info as possible.
Things started "not" happening after install of Itunes 7.1.1.5. I can no longer see my ipod in windows or itunes. It works fine for playing. It charges and everything, but it has become a big no erasable mp3 player.
I have tried just about every option on all of the threads I have read on this forum. I have spent days on this and still no progress. Forget being solved, I hven't seen any positive results yet from any of these suggestions. I know they don't all apply to the same computers but I still have tried the 5 R's., delete USB controllers and reinstall, attempted new driver, but there wasn't one. I've tried every usb port available on the machine. I've tried the reset, the disk mode, everything on these forums. I think I might be missing steps but I'm usually pretty thorough.
Did I mention, I've tried this on 2 different machines? Both had itunes 7.1.1.5 installed. I'm afraid to try any other machines, in fear of having the same happen and if it is itunes, I potentially will mess up the machine(s) for nothing.
Any help with a new soltuion would be greatly appreciated.
My last resort would be to call Apple, but from comments on the forum, it might not be helpful. And sending it back for a new one doesn't seem to make a difference after reading the forums.
So please......any new ideas? Apple please help.

  • IPod no longer on Desktop

    Hi
apologies if this has been asked before but, my 20G colour iPod no longer appears on the desktop. It appears in iTunes and functions as normal. I have Finder preferences set to show removeable media - but the iPod is missing.
Any ideas why it might suddenly decide to do this?

  • IPod no longer mounts since Leopard upgrade

My iPod no longer mounts since I upgraded to Leopard. I'm using a USB 2 port that's part of a third party PCI card I installed myself. Used to work fine before the Mac OS upgrade.
If I reboot with the iPod already plugged in, it mounts.
    Help?

Forgot to mention that I had tried those:
Authorize your purchases from an administrator account
    -> Yep, I'm the admin
Authorize using the correct account name
-> Nothing changed- I am only authorizing my devices, and only use my account on the machine. Definitely using the right account name.
Turn Off User Account Controls (Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only)
-> Did this a long, long time ago, so definitely not the issue.
    Remove the SC Info folder
-> This was the only new thing that I had seen yesterday when I tried it, and went through these steps, to no avail. Still exactly the same problem. I closed iTunes, deleted the folder, rebooted and relaunched iTunes and synced the device. Same thing.
The problem is the computer IS authorized, and I can sync one device, but not the other. No problem with iPhone 4- just iPod Touch, 3rd gen. It seems to be in a weird state.
One thing would lead me to believe it's a PC/iTunes problem, but then it is only with one device and not the other. Hard to point to the root of the problem. I just don't want to lose the data on the iPod- I've done a lot of work on it.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Why does my ipod no longer work with my alpine car stereo

my ipod connects directly to my alpine car stereo and up til now it has worked great. i recently synced my ipod to my computer and i think it updated the software on my ipod and now my ipod no longer works with my alpine stereo. what is up? did apple change something that would make my ipod no longer compatible with my car stereo? if so, what do i do? i have about $1000 invested in my car stereo and ipod specifically for car use. this is a serious issue for me! i just want my ipod to work like it did…
i just connected my friends ipod and it works fine. he has version 1.1.1 software on his. i have version 2.3 on mine. since my ipod works fine by itself i’m assuming that the incompatibility between my ipod and my alpine is due to the software update.
here again, what do i do? how can i get an older version of software back on to my ipod?
    ipod v.2.3   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

what kind of connection do you have? do you use the ipod 30 pin cable that connects directly to the head unit? it so, maybe you could get help on the alpine site, or a similar site?it could just be a bad connection. you may just have to go oldschool and use rca cables and plug those in...

I have an older ipod...ever since I updated the itunes software my ipod no longer works in my car.  my car is a 2013 mercedes E350.  Is there a way to go back to an older version of the itunes software?

If it's an older iPod, its software is not being updated by Apple.  So, I don't see how updating iTunes would make the iPod not work with the car's audio system, since iTunes just updates the song files (not how the iPod operates).
Does the iPod work by itself (play songs), when disconnected from the computer and iTunes?
