  • Can you tell me some differences between R2 and R3 systems?

    Hi,
Can you tell me some differences between R2 and R3 systems?
I guess R2 is used only for mainframe systems some time back. But i dont know why we prefered R3 over R2.
    Please clarify this!
    Thanks,
    Venkatesh.R.

    SAP R/3 is
    Client server
    3 tier
    Presentation
    Application
    Database
    Relatively hardware and database independent
ABAP/4 applications runs on application servers.
Dispatcher, shared memory, gateway, work processes are major components of an application server.
    SAP R/3 offers
Comprehensive suite of integrated applications meeting the needs of most business
    Best practice process design
    Ability to configure to
    Industry sector
    Unique business requirements
In a R/2  System - it is a 2 Tier System based on Mainframe Systems with Intelligent terminals
R/3 is based 3 tier Client Server architechture and supports the R/2 system as well.
    R/3 Middleware -
    Client server
    Uses underlying relational databases
    Oracle
    SQL server
    Ingress
    Sybase
    Its graphical user interface
    Sap GUI
hence R/3 is preffered over R/2 systems because they support Client Server Architecture which is easily configurable, scalable and can integrate with ERP systems and integrate with SOA or Web based Apps.

  • Standard XML schema for Vendor data exchange between SAP and other system

Is there a SAP standard way of XML schema that we exchange between SAP and other system? Please let me know.
    Thanks.

    See SAP Interface Repository (http://ifr.sap.com).
My proposal is to leave old SAP connectors staff and use SAP Exchange Infrastructure. There is a support of industry XML standards in XI 3.0 like xCBL.

  • DataSource / Structures mismatched between Dev and Test Systems. ..!!

    Hi,
We are doing a scenario. Where XI will update the data into PSA through ABAP proxy.
Scenario worked perfectly in development system.
We transported the objects from Dev to test. The Strucures are mismatched in SE11 between development and Test systems as below.
Data sources (ZDS_RECIHDR and ZDS_RECTPALL) looks ok. But when I saw the structures in SE11 they are not correct, they got mismatched.

    /BIC/CQZDS_REC00003000 - Header (ZDS_RECIHDR)
Kindly let me know where it might have gone wrong?

  • Consistency between dev and prod systems!!!!

    Hi All,
I wuld like to check the consistency between Dev and Prod systems for all the Data model and other objects existing. I would like to do this sanity check to see whether the two systems are in sync. Are there any tools or transaction codes within SAP framework which can guide me in this direction.
    Kind Regards,
    Surya Tamada.

    Hi Surya ,
First build whole data flow :
1 .Create Infoarea ,Infoobjects & Masterdata ,Infoproviders ,Infoobject Catelog under Infoarea,MetaData - Characteristics MeteData - Key Figures
2 DSOs  ,Infocubes ,Infosets, Multiproviders ,Views in the development system ,Datasources for BW system,Flat File Datasources,Transformations
then get data from the se11 tables as per your requirement :
like RSDVCHA ,RSDBCHATR,RSDCUBEIOBJ,RSDICMULTIIOBJ etc and built view on it  as per your requirement .
then built flat file data sources and transformation .
get all data downloaded to flat file in ur PC .In the same way from other system.
make flow from PC File Datasource -> DSO -> Infocube and build queries for different objects .load the downloaded files to them and then run query .
ex : query to compare cube will take cube name and systems name as input and compare objects .

  • SSO between EP and GRC systems

    Hi,
We have EP 7.0 and GRC 5.3 systems in our landscape. In the login page of the portal, we have a link configured to the GRC system to use the Compliant User Provisioning application.
On clicking the GRC link for accessing CUP, the user is prompted to enter the username and password to login to the GRC system. In our landscape both the EP and GRC systems have the ECC ABAP system as the UME and hence the user credentials are exactly the same for both EP and GRC systems for a particular user.
I would like to avoid another logon for the user in GRC as he has already logged in with the same user credentials in EP system. This, i believe is achieved through SSO but i'm not sure about configuring SSO between two Java systems.
Please help me in the configuration.

Did you ever get that resolved? I'm having the same problem with 5.3 SP 15.

  • Adjustment of inventory between SAP and Legacy system

    Hi Gurus,
    Here is the scenario:
    1) One plant within a company code is in SAP and the other plant in a same company code is still in legacy. Since both of them are Not in SAP, I cannot do an STO.  But, ROH materials need to be moved from the legacy plant to the plant in SAP. I cannot treat the legacy plant as a Vendor, since we are Not paying them. But, still, we should make sure that the inventory needs to be devaulated by the monetary value of the goods taken out and the other inventory (plant in SAP) needs to be enriched by such monetary value.
    2) Similar situation as above, but between 2 Company Codes of same controlling area. Here one Company Code is in SAP, other is in legacy, but, when the other company code will be in SAP, it will be under same controlling area. The two companies are under one business. Some type of intercompany transfer (netting) needs to be done. Here, I have to treat the legacy company as a Vendor.(but modifying bank details)
I understand, that it may not be possible in standard SAP, but what type of custom developments should I put up ? Any type of custom movement types? How should I set up the Vendor Master (in case of second scenario, the bank details to involve the netting thing).
Any type of information is very valuable and I would be indeed very grateful.
    Thanks,
    Kumar

For requirement 1, I suggest you keep track of the inventory acct for legacy and SAP system as separate acct to simplify reconciliation. Once this is done, you can use transaction MB1C movement 561 (or a copy of this movement type). This movement allows you to enter transaction amount in local currency as well; if this is not available, you can customize this through configuration for field selection of movement type (OMJJ). So through this posting, you can enter corresponding material, plant, quantity, and transaction amount that's passed from legacy system. In the account determination, you can set the opposite entry for inventory acct as the inventory acct from legacy system.
You can then setup an interface that periodically extract GI txn on legacy system, and another interface that performs BDC or call transaction on movement 561 (or a copy of this movement) on SAP system

  • Users mapping between EP and ABAP system

    Hello
I'd like to ask for some guidance in my quest
    Current situation looks like this:
I've configured UME in AS Java to work with LDAP as read only data source. Then I've configured SPNego to run SSO - It works, users from MS AD can log into portal.
Now I have application in WD which authorizes via EP/AD - works fine.
And next step is users mapping between AD and ABAP backend (serving some BAPI's for WD app)
I've found a bunch of help pages starting from
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/0b/d82c4142aef623e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
But somehow it's quite complicated to achieve this mapping. I've tried to set RFC destinations logon type to user mapping but without succes.
Can anyone point me to some more clear example or give path to configure this scenario? Is there a way of configuring this with NWA or some XML file editing is required?
    Any help will be appreciated.
BTW: whole environment is in version 7.11
    Best regards
    Maciej

There is no equivalent to SPNEGO on the ABAP side.
If your goal is to propagate the user, then possible options are:
-> Wait for SAML 2.0 or invest now in a SAML 1.0 provider.
-> Use the same kerberos ticket for the EP as what your ABAP system will accept: route = SNC and 3rd party libraries.
-> Issue SAP logon tickets for the ABAP system from the EP, and use these in your WDA.
Another option is to expose the service with saved logon data in the ICF. If the service is just a wrapper for the BAPI, then you can also consider using trusted RFC between the service and the backend, but this might not be acceptable for your service.
I have only done experimental stuff with this and some of the above is not released yet. Also consider the consequences, even if it "does work"...
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • ESS/MSS sso configure between java and abap instance

    Dear Gurus,
I want to configure sso between java and abap instance for ESS/MSS. I couldnt find any guide for it, could you please help me gurus ?
Other question is, is there any specific role for ESS/MSS users in JAVA instance. I want to create users and assign this role to them.
    Best Regards

    Hi Kemal,
    Hope you are doing good.
There should be a / in the ITS path before SAP.
Basically the entry that you have mentioned here should be accessible via browser as well. For eg in your case:
http://<its hist name>/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui should be accessible over browser.
I also think you have put in a extra space in "w  ebgui". It should be "webgui".
If the connector settings are working, then we can be sure that system connection is fine. You do not need to configure ITS settings.
Also for SSO, refer the SAP note:1083421 and configure the SS0 settings again.
Please run the SSO2 wizard and then make the automatic connection to
the abap server. This will solve any inconsistencies on the server
    due to manual interventions.
Most likely reason for the error is that certificates were loaded
manually rather than using SSO wizard.
    More help:
    <http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/EP/Troubleshooting+SSO+between+AS-ABAP+and+AS-JAVA>
The SSO enabling parameters should be set on the R/3 server.

  • Transport ALE Configuration from Development to Production System

    Hello All,
We have created ALE-IDOC scenario in the development system and its working fine. Now we want to transport it to the Production / Quality system. How can we transport the settings like logical systems, port definition, partner profiles, distribution model , RFC destinations from one system to another system??
Because the client numbers are different for development , quality and production systems.. Do we need to transport the logical system and client assignment using STMS or create directly in the target system??
    Thanx in advance...

The issue with transporting the ALE distribution model is that the source and target logical system names change between the dev, test and prod environments.
Assume an ECC6 and PI landscape with dev/test/prod called E6D/E6T/E6P and PID/PIT/PIP with all systems using client 100.  By default (SAP recommendation) the logical system name for E6D client 100 is E6DCLNT100 and its PI partner in the dev landscape will be PID client 100 with logical system name PIDCLNT100.  In test the logical system names will be E6TCLNT100 and PITCLNT100 and in prod E6PCLNT100/PIPCLNT100.
So, when a distribution model is set up in dev with a source system of E6DCLNT100 sending messages to a target system PIDCLNT100 everything works nicely.  This assumes that the PIDCLNT100 logical system partner in WE20/WE21 is mapped to a port which maps to an RFC destination pointing to client 100 of PID.
When this model is transported to the test system it won't work because the logical system names are wrong.
It is possible to create a logical system name called PISERVER in SALE and then map that, via WE20/WE21 to point to the corresponding PI instance.  Thus in E6D, WE21 would map logical system PISERVER to the RFC destination for PIDCLNT100 but in E6T the mapping would link to RFC destination PITCLNT100 and in E6P to PIPCLNT100.  In this way any ABAP programming trying to use the ALE distribution model would send messages to PISERVER and would be transportable.
However, setting up the source system in the same way appears to be impossible.  When attempting to generate partner profiles, transaction BD82 stubbornly insists that the source system for which it will build profiles MUST be the logical system name defined for the execution client in SCC4.  Theoretically, mapping similar to that for PISERVER could be performed for ECC6SERVER and the ALE distribution model could be built to send messages from ECC6SERVER to PISERVER but BD82 won't honour this source system.
This appears to make it impossible to transport an ALE Distribution Model.  Can anybody provide a process to overcome this apparent architectural limitation?

  • The interface between SAP and Banking system

    Hi gurus,
Now we want to integrate SAP system and Banking system.I have some questions need to ask you.
First, do we have any PI Content regarding that?I failed to find any content  in service market
Second, which kind of adapter techniques I can choose to configure?
Currently I think the possible solution may be as follows:
    1. Create custom ABAP program to generate txt files, then use XI FTP adapter to translate those files to another location, where banking system can dispose accordingly.
    2. The similiar techniques as 1,but to use ABAP proxy on SAP side.Through this way no txt files are generated,so it's more secure.
    3. Using idoc techniques.I'm very interested in that, but can we implement this scenario by using idoc? How?
Any info or tips regarding banking data integration will be appreciated.

When it comes to functional view,do you know what kind of data need be tranlated?
This is again something that only the Bank can answer. There are many standards which are in use with various banks. e.g some banks use EDI for all types of processes. You have to confirm from the bank about the format in any case. It is also possible that the bank uses proprietary format. You may use both file or jdbc adapter.
it seems XI supports FTPS protocal, right?
    Correct
But some files may be need to be installed on WAS.
    The public certificate of bank.

  • Synching configuration between ECC and GTS

Is there any way we can automatically synch configuration (e.g.countries, regions) from ECC to GTS?
    Thanks in advance.

Transaction SCU0 lets you compare configuration between systems, based on a number of ways of selecting the items to compare.
I am not sure if it offers any way to build a transport of the differences, or remotely update the target system.  At least it lets you know what is different.

  • Inventory value difference between SAP and leagcy system

    Hello Gurus,
My client has inventory value difference in SAP and Legacy system during cutoff activities due to following reason.
    a. Rounding off
    b. GRN done
    C. Goods issue done
Can I do the manual posting for Value difference?.if yes then how?
Please guide me on the same.
    Regards
    SAP FI

    Hi
It is not just difference in Valuation...
    1. If GRN is done in Legacy system, you will have to upload stock in SAP also
    2. If Goods issue is done in Legacy system after you got the stock file, then you will also have to post Goods issue in SAP
The Qty uploaded should match between Legacy and SAP systemj...  If the qty matches and difference is in value, you will have to decide which value is final i.e. Legacy value or SAP value.... Accordingly, you will have to pass a JV in Legacy system (If SAP value is Final) or in SAP system (If legacy value is final)
