ALEREMOTE and BWREMOTE

Hi,
My Question is based on a Conversion Exit. In my Ztable i hv PSPNR(WBS element) and WWPRO(Project ID) fields which display just internal id's upon execution for ex. 000879 ; but nw in Settings>UserParameter>i check on the Conversion Exits. and finally the Data that displays is External ID's i.e P0008791. This Settings will be for My User ID only.
Now when i logon as another user & execute the same Ztable,,the Output displayed will again be internal id's. So again i vll hv to go to Settings>UserParameter>i check on the Conversion Exits.then i am able to c External ID's
So my Question is When i bring/move this Data from DEV to Quality, do v have to set these options again.? i.e when data comes from R/3 to BW,its ALEREMOTE  and when it goes to Quality it moves thru BWREMOTE. So vll i have to set these options again??
Please correct me if am wrong. Also please suggest any pros and cons for the problems that wud arise!!
Thanks

  • What are the differences between ALEREMOTE and BWREMOTE?

I often get confused about the above two concepts.  Would you please help explain?  Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    Background user in BI (BWREMOTE):
The background user in BI is used for communication with the BI source systems, for the extraction of data, and for background processes in BI. You create the background user in BI in the Implementation Guide and assign it a password (SAP NetWeaver  ® Business Intelligence  ® Automated Processes  ® Create User for Background Processes).  SAP recommends that you call the BI background user BWREMOTE. The system asks for a background user password when connecting to the source system. The authorization profile for the background user is S_BI-WHM_RFC.
Background user in SAP source system (ALEREMOTE):
The background user in the SAP source system is used for communication with BI and for the extraction of data.
If you connect an SAP source system to BI, the background user is to be created in the source system. You can create the user directly in the source system in user maintenance. You can enter a name in the Implementation Guide in BI that will be used as the default name for the background user when you connect a new source system. (See SAP NetWeaver  ® Business Intelligence  ® Links to Other Systems  ® Connections Between SAP Systems and BI System ® Maintain proposal for users in the source system (ALE communication). SAP recommends that you call the BW background user for the source system ALEREMOTE. If the source system you are using is also a BI system, SAP recommends that you create the background user for BI and the background user for the (BI) source system completely separately. The authorization profile for the background user in the source system is S_BI-WX_RFC.
For different users Pls chk the below link

    Good morning
I need to have visibility of what users are online (Excel) for audit/monitoring purposes.
We are having severe performance issues and want to understand how many users are online concurrently.
In other SAP systems one can audit who is online SM04. In SM04 all BPC users logged in through Excel show up as BPCADMIN. So there is no way to tell how many users are online.
BPC for Microsoft offers a feature to find who is online. There must be a way to do the same in Netweaver?
    Thank you,

  • ALEREMOTE and Process Chains.

    Hi All
What is the normal procedure of scheduling process chains in Prod.  we have a set of chains (mostly meta) and they are using ALEREMOTE and are working fine. when we execute the execute the individual chains (if required in case of failures etc) they too use ALEREMOTE. Now the Basis team wants the ALEREMOTE not to be used as it a very powerful user. from now the chains would take the user of the individual who is executing the chains. and the mata chains that are scheduled will run with a different user with lesser previlages than ALEREMOTE.
Has anyone come across such situation? Do we have any best practices from SAP?
Thanks for your comments and help.
    Regards

    HI
ALEREMOTE as you said its powerfull user it contains the all authorizations. if you use any other id's ex: if you have 2laks records to load, it may take 1hours, sometimes some user is having limitations in this. A user having idle time 30min and B user haing may 1hour. like this basis will assaign the limitations to all the users.
ask your basis team to create one more userid copying the all authorizations from ALEREMOTE.

  • Source System Creation issue in BI

    Hi Everyone,
I have already created RFC Connection in BW and EC(BackGround Users are ALEREMOTE and BWREMOTE). I am able to login using Remote Login from SM59 from BW to ECC and Vice versa. After this , When I try to create a Source System, it asks me to provide the ALEREMOTE and BWREMOTE Passwords along with the Source System Name.
    I provide all the details.
Then the System asks me to login as a Administrator into ECC. And Once, I login, it throws up an error RFC Connection failed.
I think I am missing some steps. Please provide your inputs.
    Regards,
    Samir

    Hi Ananda,
Thanks for your response. I did the same. Created Background users and  when Try to Create a Source System ,it prompts me to R/3 side and here it is showing as RFC Failed. Remote Logon is working. But when Icreate a source System and provide password details, it fails.
Please advice. Is there any password restrictions for Background users.I maintained it as "init123". Do we need to use Capitals. And once, we provide the initial password, do we need to change it again somewhere?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Samir

  • Source System RFC Error in BI

    Hello SAP Experts,
I have installed BI 7.0. And i have created an RFC connection for BI to R3. It was working fine but now the SAP R/3 source system in RSA1 is giving an error "Result of the destination check:Name or password in incorrect(repeat logon)". And also when i am logging in, moving between screens or T-codes, it is taking a long time and the status in the bottom of the screens shows that it is checking all the destinations that is the RFC connection created. Not able to trace the reason behind this. Please help. BL consultants are waiting to work.
    Thanks a lot

    Hello MLN,
This is not the first time i am configuring SS. I have done it long back. I created a user manually long back and i used that user while configuring the SS. All these months it worked fine and no issues. As far as i know,ALEREMOTE and BWREMOTE are service users which we get by default after installation. And during configuration, i remember, i gave the passwords for both the users. But my question is, all these days it went fine and now it is giving an error. And why is it checking all the destinations when i execute any transaction. Please clarify. BI consultants practiced SPRO, so is there any chance that they might have changed or ececuted something and the result is this error? If so what can that be. Please suggest
    Thanks a lot

  • ALEREMOTE profile to run chain:do SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW contain S_BI-WHM_RFC?

In order to run process chain, we know that the RFC user ALEREMOTE has to have the profile S_BI-WHM_RFC assigned to it.
Now our we run process chain on BW PROD, find the first few variants fail and the whole chain stops in the beginning.  We check the profiles assigned to ALEREMOTE and find our BASIS gives it two profiles SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW.  Not sure if SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW contains S_BI-WHM_RFC.
    Any answer?
    Thanks

    Kevin,
    Yes, sap_all have that profile.
Sap_all and sap_new gives every authorizations of the system (you can say is a "super user").
This may be a little risky, but you won't have any problems with process chains.
Which error gives you de chain?
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,
    Diego.

  • How to link bw and source system

Any one has any document about "how to create a link between bw and source system!?
I have tried to create this link, but i haven´t.
I tried to do this: in Rsa1->modeling->source system i choose my source system (SAP) and click with the right bottom and push create. I filled the target computer; system id; system number; i put the password for aleremote user and bwremote user. After that i received a message erro when i save.
    thanks.

Hi, to do this you need extensive authorization and an open source system (as in opened in SCC4).
If you are not SAP Basis, perhaps you should ask them.
And in my experience, if they never have seen how BI and SAP Source systems are linked, be ready for an interesting discussion and have all the correct documentation available.
I think the link to the documentation is posted before.
    Kind regards,
    Jürgen

  • Need everyone input: authorization profiles assigned to ALEREMOTE

If the process chain runs fine in your system, please go to SU01 to check the profiles assigned to the user ALEREMOTE and feed back with the profiles assigned to ALEREMOTE.  Anyone's input is greatly appreciated and will be rewarded with points.
    Thanks

    Hi Kevin.
We have at my company a large implementation of systems including several BW systems. One of these also hosts SEM. Here it was first setup with SAP_ALL, but after my security review they actually could tailormake a role for these activities. The input for this role we created by a simple authorization trace.
On request I can provide you with this information.
It is also the recommended solution to really modify the authorization of users like ALEREMOTE, due to the large security risks you take in RFC destinations otherwise.

  • Data load from R3 is slow and gives rfc connection error

Hi all, is there any debug capabilties available on BI 7.0 when it comes to debug data load from R3 using rfc connection ( aleremote and bwiremote users )
any ideas where can I look for solution.

    Hi,
Check the connection between the R/3 and BW.
or It may be the network problem contact system admin or basis people.

  • BI-RFC problems after client copy

    Hi all
Client copy was done and after that when I tried to load data in BW, it ran for long time and finally showed cancelled in SM37. When I checked the source system in RSA1, it gave two messages.
1.Incorrect IDoc type ZSAC008 in the ALE definition of the source system RSAR373
2.Result of the destination check: Password logon no longer possible - too many failed attempts RSAR375.
In long text of message 1 suggestion was to enter IDoc type ZSAB003. In SM30 for Message Type RSSEND Basic Type ZSAB003 Release field is empty. Is this error because of this?  After client copy is there a way to restore the settings back to how it was set initially in the development server? Basis told ALEREMOTE & BIWREMOTE are not blocked. What is missing here? Thanks a lot in advance.
    Subin

There are a few things need to be performed on basis side after copy .
    1. Restore of Logical system.--> check with Baisis team wheather they have performed this action or not after copy.
    2. Check your source system connection, in rs1-- source sytem --check
    3. Change the aleremote or Bwremote passwords.
    4. Try to logon to your sourcesystem ( from SM59 Tcode) Remote logon.
    Hope this helps.

  • S_DEVELOP  Missing debug authorization

    Hi,
i just found that in our prod env. for bw for all developers we have S_DEVELOP authorization with all activities (*).
i just need to provide them debug access in prd without having access to change the values while debugging.
i see all the activities for S_DEVELOP but not sure what all of them does and why its been given *. can some one explain me all the activities and explain which one should be given ? also, should there be any restriction on DEVCLASS, OBJNAME, OBJTYPE, P_GROUP etc. coz all of them are having * value.
    01 - create or generate
    02 - change

    Thank Y

Probably this comes from the role SAP_BW_DEVELOPER which is a piece of **** (sorry).
All aspects (even display debugging) is critical.
Try to remove all S_DEVELOP authorization and show them some of the blogs on SDN about transaction SE14 and debugging process chains.
What you need to give them in return is an emergency user concept for when them within the BW (not the target system for the extraction) need to be able to use database utilities.
9 times out of 10 there are better solutions, which they will find by necessity if their access is removed.
They will then either improve their coding quality or start building in backdoors (changing ALEREMOTE or BWREMOTE to a service or dialog user and claiming that it cannot work without SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW (also stupid) is one such trick).
Sorry for the rant. It was spontaneous and honest
    Cheers,
    Julius
