Alert for the END of an event?
Can you set an alert to sound at the moment an event ends?
A workaround is to set alarm "after even", so for 1 hour event you'd choose "1 hour after event" (or 55 minutes to after event, to have the reminder 5 minutes before event ends).
One major flaw is that you have to adjust the alarm after changing event length.

Service Manager Connector is configured for Alert Sync. However this issue also affect the alerts that are not synced.
Anybody else faced this issue?Hi,
It seems like that you are using rule to monitor this event, unlike monitors, rules can continue to send alerts as long as the condition that caused the alert persists or repeats. Depending on what the rule is checking for, a single issue could possibly
generate a huge number of alerts. To prevent the noise of too many alerts, alert suppression can be enabled for a rule.

Raising an alert at the end of process chain execution
Hello ,
I have a requirement, where I have to raise an
alert(not an e-mail) in Alert Server at the end of data loading process through a process chain.
Is there solution for above requirement?.
Regards
MBHi ,
Thank you for taking time and answering my question.
I have found a solution to raise the alert at the end of loading a target through process chain.
Solution :
There is no out of the box option to raise the alert from process chain.
SAP has given a SALRT_CREATE_API function to raise the alert. We have used this function with "ABAP process type" in process chain to raise the alert.

BODS 3.1 : How to trigger an email alert for the jobs on BODS server ?
Hi All.
I have this request.
BODS 3.1 : How to trigger an email alert for the jobs on BODS server ?
We have jobs scheduled on BODS running smoothly and absolutely fine.
But to check, i am logging into the admin console and check for the jobs status.
I would like to have an email to be received from BODS after each job is finished.
It could succuessful. Or it could fail.
Whatsoever, i wish to receive an email alert as soon as a job is finished.
Can anyone advise me as to whether this could be made possible.
And if yes, how this could be done.
Thanks for your help in advance.
In BOE CMC / for webi / schedule / we find an option to send email for a job success or a job failure.
Is there any option similar to that in BODS ?
Also would like to know :
how to use the smtp_to or mail_to functions ?
how to set up the smtp server for this ?
thanks

Edited by: Indumathy Narayanan on May 31, 2011 3:47 PMHi.
Since am new to this BODS. I need some help.
I already have many jobs which are running absolutely fine.
And when a job runs, and finishes, am able to see the trace saying
e.g. :
Job_abc is completed successfully.
We got the smtp service activated for our test server.
and we hae a group email id.
I have put the details of the smtp server / ip address / and said apply restarted.
The i created a simple test script as below :
print (' Before email ' );
smtp_to('abc@company_name.com', 'Job ' || job_name() ||' on ' || host_name() || ' has FAILED',
' the job has failed', 0, 0);
print('After Email ');
It does send a email to as per smtp_to whatever email is specified.
But how to differentiate between a job success
And a job which has failed.
I wish to have a mail which says on the subject :
'Job ' || job_name() ||' on ' || host_name() || ' has completed successfully'
==> IF it is a success
OR
'Job ' || job_name() ||' on ' || host_name() || ' has failed'
==> if it has failed
How to make the system identify, whether
to send a success message or a error message whatever
Could anyone advise.
thanks

Multiple alerts for the same Message ID
Hi
I have configured outbound ftp adapter. I have configured alerts inorder to capture any error in the adapter engine.
Now,alert is triggered showing an error in the ftp adapter ( say incorrect ftp details). But i get multiple alerts for the same message ID several times. I have also set the parameter Max No od Delvs to 1 in the ALRTCATDEF transaction.
I keep getting the same alert number of times a day. How can i restrict the number of alerts to 1 for 1 message ID.
Regards,
VaniHello Andreas,
Thanks for your reply.
In my scenario i would need an alert per Message. That is the reason why I have not checked the option "Supress Multiple Alerts" since it would allow only alert per rule.
Is there is any way we can get one alert per message.
Also, after correcting the eror in the file adapter will the file which was not placed due to error in the adapter be placed automatically. I wanted to know what would happen to the lost file or unprocessed file since it dint reach the destination due to error.

Questions for the end users in Building an application.
Questions for the end users in Building an application.
Hello,
I am assigned a project in building a CF application. As far
as the business requirements, I have an idea from the MIS people.
However, I have a meeting with direct users and I have to ask
questions to add to my requirements. I am still a beginner in this
but I need to ask questions.
Can anyone give me tips? what basic / important questions?For starters,
DO:
Ask them to discuss what they want to do with the application
Try to understand their level of computer literacy
Keep your conversation non-technical
Continue to interact with the users during the design and
development process
Try to identify a "champion" with whom you can interface as the
project progresses
DON'T:
Use technical terms or discuss technical issues
Talk down to them
Promise delivery dates until you have documented their
requirements and they have approved them -
How to: subscribe for the viewer's Error event
I am running a third party report tool and am trying to understand how to comply with their request. My report works fine in all export modes with the exception of export to word at which time it throws a "Index was outside the bounds of the array"
error. This does not occur in any other export mode (i.e., Excel, RTF, TIFF, yada, yada.)
The request from the vendor is " subscribe for the viewer's Error event and the report's Error event to get the exception."
I run Win8.1 and would like to create a subscription to the View Event log to trap the occurrence of this error. I have tried to locate some documentation online as to how I can accomplish this.
Where can I find this information as well as an example?
Tom Mann MCSD C#They seem to be suggesting that the control will raise an error event which you can subscribe to.
myViewer.Error += SomeHandler;
and presumably
private void SomeHandler(object sender, EventArgs a)
// Do some error handling.
If there turns out to be no actual error event then..,..
Can you put a try catch block round code does the export?
I'm guessing maybe not and it's an internal thing in the viewer.
Plan C , let's see now.
Try to find a way to override that button click on the viewer.
Hope that helps.

Confgure email alerts for the *INTERNAL SAP MAILBOX* for CCMS
Hello,
I am currently workling on setting up a CCMS for monitoring the system performance of the server.
This involves setting some profile parameters for the system in a way that if any of the parameters exceeded their threshold value an automatic alert message is sent to a contact on his internal sap mailbox.
Can someone provide guidance on how to confgure this email alerts for the INTERNAL SAP MAILBOX.

Waiting for the end of the process
I'm executing a command using the Runtime class and I have to wait until the end of the command to get the results. But, I don't want to sleep the thread for some undeterminated time. I'd like it just to wait until the command ends.
See in this code:
try
String result="";
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("sh"); //open a new shell
InputStream is = p.getInputStream();
OutputStream os = p.getOutputStream();
os.write("ifconfig -a | grep PROMISC -c\n".getBytes());
os.flush();
try {
Thread.currentThread().sleep(1000);
/*command should take some time to execute so wait for 10 secs .... I don't like this .... I would prefer waiting for the end the command ifconfig*/
catch (InterruptedException eIE) { }
while (is.available() > 0)
result = result + ( (char) is.read());
System.out.println(result);
catch (IOException e) {
System.out.println(e);AFAIK you can only detect if the shell process has finished, as sub-processes of the shell are not visible to your Java program (without resorting to OS-specific syscalls).
You can write "exit" (or whatever terminates your shell) in the output stream as the last command - this will quit the shell as soon as all commands are finished, and that will be visible to your prog. Note that you should not run ANY of the shell commands in background then, as this could cause the shell to exit before the commands are finished (and, depending on the system, even signal the subprocesses). -
Search for the end of each text frame?
I'd like to insert some kind of marker at the end of each of my text frames in order to preserve where the page breaks occur, even after I've exported my file. The only function in InDesign that seems to recognize pages is the text variables that can pull the first/last instance of something on a page. Other than that, I can find no way of searching for the end of a page or end of a text frame.
myFrames = app.activeDocument.textFrames;
myCharStyle = app.activeDocument.characterStyles.itemByName("Marker");
for (a=0; a<myFrames.length; a++){
if (myFrames[a].characters.length>0){
myFrames[a].characters[-1].appliedCharacterStyle = myCharStyle;
The above script will apply a character style called Marker to the last character of all text frames in the document (prepare a character style called Marker [case-sensitive] before you run the script, or change the name in the second line.
I guess a character style isn't an ideal solution, though, as it might override something else.
Perhaps a strikethrough? In which case, change the 5th line to:
myFrames[a].characters[-1].strikeThru = true;
Does that help?

What is the regular expression for the end of a story?
Forgive me if this is wrong forum for asking this, but I'm trying to use the Find command using GREP and I need to know the regular expression for the end of a story. (Or, the last character of a story.) Thanks in advance.
I'd try search for .\z (that's a dot in front) which ought to find the very last character in the story, and replace with $0 and your additional text.
You know you can use a keyboard shortcut to move your cursor to the end of any story, right? Ctrl + End on Windows, Cmd + End, I think, on Mac. Unless you want to do this to every single story in the document, I would think you might be just as well off to put your text on the clipboard, put the cursor in the story and hit the key combo followed by Ctrl/Cmd + V to paste. -
Does OVI suite alert for the new incoming calls?
I know it alerts for the new incoming SMS, but not for calls. Am I right?
But why, the PC suite do it and this is important feature for me.
Solved!

I allways used an E52 with PC-Suite which showed me the incomming call notifications on my laptop.
Now with a new E6, I have to use OVI and there are no notifications anymore.Which is really annoying in a bussy office environment!
So please provide us with a solution, because I think you are losing a (unique selling point here).

On google calendar if you had a calendar for work and one for school, you can set alerts for earch so when you add a class or work related event, the event is set with alerts for that calendar. Can you do that with iCal?
Hi Steven,
This is one of the reasons why I wrote Dates to iCal.
As well as automatically syncing birthday dates from Address Book, Dates to iCal can sync anniversary and custom dates. It can set up to five alarms for each date in iCal and can also set different alarms for birthdays and anniversaries.
Best wishes

Listening for the end of a movie
Hi, I have some code that loads a movieclip into an empty
clip
var container:MovieClip =
this.createEmptyMovieClip("container", this.getNextHighestDepth());
container.attachMovie("twdc_mc", "twdc_mc", 1, {_x:300,
_y:275});
then i want to wait until the end of the movieclip, unload it
and load another in its place - all without leaving frame one of my
main timeline...so my initial thought was to add this:
function getframes(numFrames,totalFrames) {
if (numFrames == totalFrames){
trace("removed") //changed the return variable to this for
testing
container.twdc_mc.onEnterFrame =
getframes(container.twdc_mc._currentframe,container.twdc_mc._totalframes);
(the use of a function because i want to re-use it)
the problem is that the if statement is parsed and evaluated
to false immediately, then it moves on to the next statement
without looking back despite the existance of the onEnterFrame
function
So my question is how can I listen for this event without the
need to add unLoad or removeMovieClip to the end of the offending
mc?
Thankyou in advance for any replies, I'm trying hard to get
to grips with "as" but Im a php boy at heart and really struggling!
SamHi Sam,
in AS, you can't pass parameters to an event or callback
function like onEnterFrame this way. You can either pass a function
reference (without brackets, otherwise the function would execute
immediately and the event is undefined after that):
container.twdc_mc.onEnterFrame = getframes;
or define a function 'on the fly':
container.twdc_mc.onEnterFrame = function(){
Since you want to use the first way, getframes() can't have
any parameters, but instead it can use the scope of the event it is
bound to through the 'this' keyword:
function getframes() {
// trace(this._totalframes);
if (this._currentframe == this._totalframes){
trace("removed")
Now 'this' depends on the scope in which getframes() is
called, so you can use it with the onEnterFrame event of the loaded
clip:
container.twdc_mc.onEnterFrame = getframes;
and it will compare twdc_mc's position to it's end. Bound to
another MC it would take that MC's values.
cheers,

Why did I get an Emergency Alert for the Nemo Blizzard at 4 am?
This @^%^!*#*!&!@ system just sent a blaring alert to my iPhone at 4 am EST warning me about a blizzard I already knew about, literally scaring me out of bed. Now, after some middle-of-the-night research, I understand it's the FEMA IPAWS system (http://www.fema.gov/integrated-public-alert-warning-system). What bureaucratic knucklehead at FEMA decided that we needed this alert at 4 am?
I wonder how many thousands of other iPhone users who didn't even know they had the Emergency Alerts feature are wondering why they've been jostled awake this morning... and have turned the feature off as a result. (Settings==>Notifications==>Government Alerts)
How impossibly stupid can FEMA be? Sending the message at 8 pm last night would have been amusing (there were already 6 inches on the ground, and everyone had been talking about the storm for 2 days). Now I want to rip someone's lungs out...
Apple, is this the right way for me to find out about some obscure little feature that was included in a recent release - turned on?Actually, I also got a FEMA warning via the same system on Thursday night, which was completely appropriate. But sending an alert with a klaxon-like sound effect at 4 am is just ponderously dumb. It's not like it's a flood where I might need to evacuate. I'M AT HOME ASLEEP like the thousands of others who were jolted awake by this ill-timed alert.
It reminds me of when AT&T used to wake me at 7 am on Saturday mornings because their big overnight mainframe batch program had completed at 6 am and immediately sent out a notice that I was 60% through my hours for the month. Nice message, dumb timing.
Big organizations like FEMA and AT&T should be capable of assessing the time-criticality of their broadcast messages, and schedule them appropriately. Who at FEMA decided that it was critical to issue a warning in the middle of the night?!?!
