Alert management with custom mail subject
Hello,
I defined a business process, with a control step that throws an alert with a specific message "Error in &MessageTypeFound& " ( &MessageTypeFound& being a container element filled in in a previous step ).
When I look at the e-mail that the alert manager sent, I can see the alert, with the variable properly filled in, so the result in the mail-body is: "Error in WMMBXY".
Now, as a mail subject, I want the same message. In the Alert Category Definitions, I need to fill in the title and this will be used as mail subject.
To be able to use variables in this title, I need to define container elements in the alert category definition. How can I pass the Business Process variable ( &MessageTypeFound& ) to this container for the alert definition ? (So I can use this container element for my dynamic variable in the subject of the alert mail)
Any ideas are welcome !
Thanks
Hi Frederik,
Unfortunately the functionality you want is simply not available ... or well it is but its not implemented very good by SAP.
The workflow step that generates an alert does has a container element 'SHORTTEXT' which can hold placeholders and which is translated into the title of the alert message/mail.
However, the field is defaulted with the text 'Process &_WORKITEM.WORKITEMID&' when being executed via BPM ...
I tried to overwrite it by setting my own 'SHORTTEXT'container element within the BPM but that does not work ...
Regards,
Steven

Dynamic mail subject in File2Mail Scenario
We are doing File2Mail scenario. We r sending 5 files in 5 mails with 5 diff subjects by MAIL adapter.
Can anyone guide me how to send 5 files as attachment in one single mail with different mail subjects :
File names are - Employee_Leave,Base,Super,Loss,Profit.Hey,
you can use dynamic addressing wherein you can provide the mail related information in your mapping.
for example the to, from, subject and content.
so you can map these fields form the input structure or you can have a constant to map it.
refer to this blog it will really help.
/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/07/mail-adapter-xi--how-to-implement-dynamic-mail-address
the only differerence in your case is that you need file as attachment so mark the keep attachment field.
it will ask you for a mail structure.
use this structure as your target structure.

It is my understanding that Adobe's migration tool will NOT support transferal of custom metadata from Aperture to Lightroom.
I have recently enhanced my Custom Metadata plugin to read custom metadata from Expression Media xmp, and it seems like a no-brainer to have a "preset" which can read/import/transfer custom metadata from Aperture xmp too - I just need a sample to work with - thanks.
If you don't want to post here, please send directly to me.
robcole.com - Contact Me
RobTo attempt a wrap-up for this thread:
Aperture does NOT provide a means to save custom metadata in XMP - the initial premise of this thread was incorrect: a thank you to John Beardsworth for setting me straight. Specific question asked has been answered.
The purpose for the thread however was to learn how to get information out of Aperture so it can be gotten into Lightroom (final destination: custom metadata fields).
Here is one way to get custom metadata in Aperture to custom metadata in Lightroom, recommended if you have enough free IPTC fields to house the custom data temporarily:
* Create an applescript file with the following contents, modified to support your custom metadata fields; note: it must also be modified to specify the IPTC fields to be used:
tell application “Aperture”
set imageSel to the selection
repeat with i from 1 to count of imageSel
tell library 1
tell item i of imageSel
set customFieldValue to value of custom tag "myCustomFieldName"
set value of IPTC tag "myFreeIptcFieldName" to customFieldValue
end tell
end tell
end repeat
end tell
Note: you must adapt script depending on your custom fields, and which IPTC fields you have free.
* Select photos in Aperture.
* Execute the script.
* Once photos are in Lightroom, with IPTC fields populated.., then in Lr's plugin manager, with 'Custom Metadata' plugin selected, click 'Transfer Metadata' button, then "follow the yellow-brick road" (you will be prompted with instructions..). Metadata will be transferred from IPTC fields to custom metadata in Lightroom.
If you do NOT have sufficient IPTC fields to use, or would rather not use IPTC fields for this, then you'd have to modify the script to populate a row in a CSV file for each photo, then use the 'Import from CSV' function in Custom Metadata plugin. I can help if it comes to this..
PS - There may be other ways as well, but maybe this is enough..

WADK components & setting used for power management with answer file for windows 8.1 ent
hello,
I have to deploy windows 8.1 ent device with MDT answer file related to power management with customized following settings:
High performances
sleep timeout settings
standby or sleep and hibernate setting
Enable critical battery task.
But don't know
1. how to manage power settings using answer file (WADK) for win8.1.
2. which OS Windows image component and setting used for power management in WADK.
Thanks
Richa KmThe way I do it with my task sequences (this works with MDT as well as SCCM) is to have an exported power plan using the POWERCFG -EXPORT command. I create a software package around the resulting *.POW file with a command do do an POWERCFG -IMPORT.
I then issue a POWERCFG -SETACTIVE command to the GUID of the *.POW file to enable that power scheme.
More information on the POWERCFG command can be found here:

Hope that helps,

(It was actually much longer than that)
Is there anyway that I can get that to go away? I obviously would prefer a nice, cleanly formatted e-mail to be sent just like I would send if I were creating it on the spot.

Mail Attachment with attachment name = mail subject name
Hi,
I am using the mail adapter and today I am using hard codes attachment names using the MessageTransformBean. I have read the blog /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2006/02/23/xi-dynamic-name-in-the-mail-attachment--pseudo-variable-substitution about dynamic filenames but how do I get the eMail subject as a viriable to create the attachment?
Thanks
JuergenJuergen my weblog was the simplest suggestion to your issue - you can put the mail subject anywhere in
message get it (and remove) in the adapter module
you can also try to get the
Adapter-Specific Message Attributes from the adapter module
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/09b16006526e72e10000000a422035/content.htm
but I'm not sure it the second solution works with adapter modules - but you can do an easy check

[php+mysql] send e-mail with custom content
Hi all
<br />I'm trying to send an e-mail with custom content.
<br />I've set the MX send e-mail server behaviour so that it sends an html
<br />template.
<br />
<br />no problem here.
<br />
<br />The problem arises when I try to put some variables in the template file.
<br />Transaction variables work as expected and they will be sent by email.
<br />But I cannot figure out how to include other standard variable.
<br />I use variables to translate the page on the fly.
<br />I have an external file containing all translations and I include it on my
<br />translated page.
<br />Then I output the translation using the echo command:
<br />example:
<br />Here is the content of the include:
<br /><?<br /?>
$menu["AZIENDA"]="COMPANY";
<br />?>
<br />
<br />In the translated page I put the related variable in the body:
<br /><?php echo $menu["AZIENDA"] ?>
<br />
<br />But when I put <?php echo $menu["AZIENDA"] ?> in the template file, nothing
<br />will be output.
<br />
<br />What is the right way to do this?

Mail subject modification for smart-form SMIV
Hi Experts,
We have implemented ServiceDesk in Solution Manager 7.1 SPS 08 & are using automatic notifications to be generated as alert emails to the customer key users / service desk support team / message processors etc.
We are using Actions under transaction SPPFCADM, which is using smart-form AI_CRM_IM_SHORT_TEXT_LINK_FORM for the email content.
We need to modify the notification mail subject as follows -
Current Mail Subject – 80000xxxxxx : <Incident Description>
Required Mail Subject – 80000xxxxxx : <Incident Description> : <Incident Status>
Can you please suggest, how this can be achieved? What modifications are needed in smart form for the same?

What is ALERT Management.how to use it?
what is ALERT Management. what is it's use.how to do ALERT Management?
HI
Alerts within XI give us a simple way to monitor only those errors that we want to and send alert messages to different people depending on the alert category.
Alert configuration is used to have the system inform you of errors during message processing.
By using the Alert Framework, central monitoring can be provided with all errors reported during message processing in ABAP and Java. This enables an improved reaction to such errors in both the ABAP runtime and the Java-based Adapter Engine. For this purpose, the Alert Framework is provided with rules based on certain events and on information from the header of the message protocol. These rules determine whether alerts are send or not.
Alert Configuration:
1) An Alert is a notification informing its recipients that a critical or very important situation has arisen. The
situation is as severe that an action must be taken immediately in order to resolve the situation. The
system recognizes the situation and sends the Alert.
2) We use the Alert Configuration to have the system inform you of errors during message processing. we
can receive the Alert by e-mail, fax, or SMS.
3) To configure your Alerts, proceed as follows:
a) Create the Alert Categories that we want to use in our Alert Rules.
b) Create the Alert Rules in which we want to use our Alert Categories
4) An Alert is an instance of an Alert Category
5) Alert Categories can be defined by applications or customers using the Alert Category definition
environment, which is accessed in Transaction Code ALRTCATDEF
6) The Structure of Alert Category is defiened by the following
a) Technical key (language-independent) for identification purposes
b) Description (language-dependent)
c) Classification
d) Priority
e) Maximum number of deliveries. (This applies to delivery to a destination other than the alert
inbox.)
f) Expiry time (in minutes) after which the alert is deleted
g) Escalation recipient to whom the alert is sent if it is not confirmed by any of its recipients
h) Tolerance time before escalation
i) Short text, long text, and title
The title is used as mail title, fax subject, and alert title in the inbox. The long text is used as
mail/fax body and the long text view in the inbox. The short text is used for pager and SMS.
j) Container for variable definition if variables are to be used in the texts, or for other application-
