ALERT!!!!   MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN HAVEN

I had the same issue with the VERIZON SAMSUNG HAVEN as a number of others and everyone at the Verizon store seems to act like this is an unusual problem. It's funny how in a separate blog VERIZON has deemed this problem SOLVED. It's not.
There is a manufacturer defect in the VERIZON SAMSUNG HAVEN. VERIZON should stand by their product and replace it with a new product of equal value.  There should be a product recall instead of inconveniencing customers with the replacement process and odd looks from store salesmen.
I paid out of pocket for my phone to avoid a 2 year activation contract.  I am going to move to another carrier since I am not satisfied with this display of poor equipment.
Last time I had this issue with the HAVEN, I had to send my phone in and wait a day until it was replaced.  As a business executive, a day without a phone is incomprehensible.
I now have the same issue again and will have to go through the same rigmarole and be out another day of business.  I can see why people in this country have to have a class action suit; it takes that to have anyone listen from a company like VERIZON.
If VERIZON listens hears this e-mail, I challenge you to post a reply like the following:
"Since many customers are having the same issue with the HAVEN, please return your product for a full replacment of a different device that does not carry this same defect.  If you are not satisfied with the devices offered at this grade level, we will credit you with the cost of the device and you can change your phone."
This is the type of service we should all expect from a corporation that wants our business. VERIZON?  You listening?

Thanks for the interest and I am not a bot.
The defect is that the HAVEN freezes when using the TEXT MESSAGING options.  On my HAVENS (I have replaced it twice and now need to do it a third time), both the INBOX and SENT box indicate that the mailbox is full and messages need to be deleted when infact the messages have been deleted and there are no messages in the boxes.  When you go to empty the box, the HAVEN freezes up and you have to remove the battery to restart the phone.  When this occurs with the SENT box function, you can still send messages (but you cannot read what you sent) and an error message appears each time you send a messge saying "Message SENTBOX is full delete old".  When the INBOX fucntion malfunctions, you can no longer receive text messages.
The reason I report this as a "manufacturer defect" is that in a separate post about the HAVEN entitled (PLeeeasssse help - or something like this), a VERIZON representative indicated that this is a manufacturer defect and that the new HAVEN will not have this issue.  The VERIZON representative also directs users with this problem to bring the HAVEN into the VERIZON store to have the error message wiped out.  Well, this is inconvenient to consumers. VERIZON apparently knew or should have known about this defect BEFORE it sold me the HAVEN for approximately 160.00USC including tax.  Selling a know defective product is incomprehensible.  Additionally, the solution that they have suggested is not acceptable for busy working adults.
I am not a VERIZON hater.  My family and I, have used the company for over 6 years.  Secondly, my company of more than 500 employees, uses VERIZON.
I would expect a company to stand by their product and recall defective devices, refund money, or replace the devices with something comparable in price value - not play lip service to customers who depend on cellular telephones for important personal and business reasons.

  • Manufacturing defect iPhone 4s

Last 23 July 2012, I bought an iPhone 4s  from Movistar Spain, the iPhone came with a  manufacturing defect, everybody who calls me listen to them with echo, at first, for a couple of days, I throught it wasn't my problem but when everybody complained about the echo, I phoned to Movistar Spain, 1004, in order to get a new one. That day started my nightmare.
Movistar says they usually change the devices but this case is different because it's an iPhone so I must phone Apple, Apple says that Movistar must change the device, and so on. Movistar and Apple want to repair it but I paid for a NEW iPhone, I haven't bought a repaired one.
Meanwhile the time I have to get the iPhone changed is going to expire.
Please help me! What can I do? I went to two different Movistar shops they told me that they can't do anything because I bought it throught a telephone  offer (1004), there isn't any Apple Store near my city.
When I threatened Movistar to go to Orange or Vodafone they promised they changed the iPhone but two days later they phoned me to say that's was impossible.
I think Apple must solve this problem because it's a manufacturing defect and Movistar is one of the companies Apple uses in Spain to sell the iPhone.

This is not Apple we are all users here
The iPhone is under 12 months warranty
Regardless of where the store is in Spain if you take the iPhone to an Apple Store retail shop
and make an appointment with Genius bar they will handle your issue
without drama unlike most carriers (worlwide)

  • How many times do you get a new iPhone because of manufacturing  defects, before you can ask for an newer model?

You don't.  Apple's warranty provides for replacing your device with an identical model (same model, carrier, capacity & color).
And you aren't getting a new iPhone.  You'll be getting a remanufactured iPhone, which has gone through a more thorough inspection than any new iPhone ever does.
If you want a newer model, then trade-in or privately sell your current device and use the proceeds towards purchasing another device.

  • Bought 4s in USA I am in India. Phone defective apple service says manufacturing defect has to be replaced. Can I do it in India or should it be sent to usa

Bought 4s while on holiday to USA I stay in India phone not working apple service says manufacturing defect. Need to be replaced. Can I do it in India. If so how? Some say have to send it to USA. Not feasible. What do I do

Not only odes it have to be serviced in the US, you cannot simply send it to the US, it must have a US return address associated with it.  So you have to send it to someone in the US who will take it in for service, retrieve it and then return to you.
iPhone warranties are very complicated and restricted to the country of origin...as Tim said, have never been international.

  • HP Pavillion dv6 - 6116 tx - Manufacturing Defect

    Hi
I have bought new laptop(HP Pavillion dv6 - 6116 tx) on last Sunday, 06-Nov-2011. Last night, I observed that there is a manufacturing defect as follows:
Down to the touch pad, side layer and top layer are not joined properly - I could see a gap in between - I need replacement for this.
I bought it from 'HP World' show room at Koramangala, Bangalore - I think, I should approach to the same HP World show room for this problem.
Before going, I want to know how much time it will take for replacement? Also, please let me know the if there is any process for replacements in case of manufacturing defects .
    Thanks
    Ganesh Bhima

  • Iphone 4 manufacturing defect detected after warranty runs out

I have had my iphone 4 since launch 18 months ago and now the sleep/on off button has become stuck. The Apple store said they charge £119 for a replacement.
My iphone 4 is in great condition, no marks or wear etc so this is obviously a manufacturing defect. Especially when I typed it into google I found out its a very common issue as many owners have reported it.
I cannot believe Apple are not admitting its their fault. Like when the phone first came out they blamed the antenna issue on customers not holding their phones properly...
I will never pay £119 for a replacement just to fix a button that is likely to break again and when it is not my fault.
There is also no way to contact Apple UK to complain, instead they charge people £25 for a one off incident phone support.
what I'm I to do now?
Well I have learnt my lesson and thats the fact that Apple are not as good as they are made out to be ESPECIALLY in terms of their customer service.
Even though I really want to get the iphone 5 when it comes out I will try my best not to as I fear that the level of quality of Apple products are very poor. I will have to start researching Blackberrys and Nokia phones for when my contract expires next year.
Thanks, any advice would be appreciated

I to0 have the same problem. I went to my local Apple Store today and was indeed given the same response: £119 to fix the problem, for a replacement. It is also 18 months old and no blemishes.
Now we all know Apple only give you a one year warranty wheres as most other companies give you two years. I understand you can purchase apple care but as I like the orional OP handel my goods with care I dont see the need for this. The sales of goods act as well as the EU directive states that a product has to be 'fit for purpose'.
'The UK Sale of Goods Act already offers us protection against faulty goods even when the manufacturer’s guarantee has run out and says that goods must last a “reasonable time” – which can be claimed anything up to 6 years from the date of purchase.'
Now if my phone had a smashed up screen and the button was broken off by throwing or dropping it then yes i epect to pay but simple wear and tear after 18 months is unacceptable, and to charge £119 demonstrates the lact of respect Apple has for its consumers. They may be the genuis bar what we are not mugs.

  • External Superdrive USB cable coming apart from drive-Manufacturing Defect?

My drive is a little over a year old. SO i guess it does not fall under the limited warranty. But i have hardly used the thing. Just to install software, and that is pretty much it. Sits in the box used maybe 5 times a year.
I just used it today to install Snow and noticed that the USB cable that sticks out of the back of the drive has ripped/cracked/tore/etc from the support rubber. Looks like the cable cover they used is to hard of a plastic and the part that connects with the larger part of the cord before going into the drive cracked and then tore when the cable was bent/moved. Now i can see the metal jacket that covers the wires under the plastic.
Think if i bring it back to the apple store they will give me a new one or replace the wire. If you ask me it is a manufacturing defect. Like i said the drive is essentially Brand new condition. I have several macs and have been using them for many years. I know the difference between abuse and manufacturing defects.
    What do you guys think?
    Thanks

I, too, am having the Superdrive cracked-cable problem. Bought my Air and Superdrive 7/14/09, and I've probably used the Superdrive less than 10 times. Just noticed the cracking problem of the cable yesterday and plan to try to return it to my campus bookstore (where I bought it) tomorrow. I have AppleCare. I'm surprised about the poor quality of this cable. Very un-Apple-like. I should also add I've very careful in how I've stored the drive (I don't carry it around in my case), taking care to NOT force the cable to bend too much where it meets the drive. Still, all the outer white shielding is cracked through to the bare wire.
I DO hope that they eventually replace this with a retractable cable, as others on these discussions boards and elsewhere have hoped for. It would most-likely solve this problem (while, hopefully, not inducing a new one!).

  • C3: manufacturing defect in phone....

I have purchased this nokia C3 barely a month back and it has since been lying with the nokia care center. The problem with the handset is unusal, keeping the phone on Silent profile with beep once and vibration on, I am able to hear the caller and their background noises without even picking up the phone. The Care center has replaced the handset twice with the same problem and even after a month I have no resolution. Infact the service guys are saying to use it without keeping phone on that setting. Has Nokia lost it all, now that they started manufacturing defected handsets.....Is nokia listening...

Im having the same problem too himalaya, dispite the vast amount of complaints specifically regarnding this range NOKIA.INC still refuse to accept ANY responsibilty for thier poor design.

  • Manufacturing defects on my iphone 5

    bought a new iphone 5...
notice a tiny micro metal finish is missing(improer diamond cut finish)...
there is a video on you tube which shows manufacturing defects of other devices thought it was fake but i also have a similar issue...
    will apple replace the product????

I am facing a similar problem here with a slight advantage. I am from New Delhi, India and so far I have rejected 6 iPhone 5's due to manufacturing defects. The first one was right at the store of the apple premium reseller. Since I opened the box there only therefore they had to replace it with a new one. The piece I got then had some hardware fault (WiFi connectivity issues with 2.4GHz WEP 2 encryption + huge battery drain). The service centre people have verfied the issue and have raised a service report. Till today I have rejected 5 iPhone 5's because they all had some or the other manufacturing defects (chips, scuffs, odd depth of the home button). This is very annoying because this could only mean one thing that apple is sending all its B grade products to India and reserving the perfect A grade units for US, UK, Europe, Australia etc (I am just guessing here).
Now here's the catch, I am in touch with someone in the service issue department at Apple Singapore directly which handles escalated tickets in Asia region and still I am getting no Apple grade high quality service (post Steve Jobs era perhaps?)
Advantage: I did not have to submit my iPhone to them (getting a replacement takes minimum 3 days) and since all these defected units are their fault so they have to keep sending in new units to the service centre (the courier to them comes under my name ) till I find a good unit.

  • Does AppleCare cover manufacturing defects?

I recently got my new iPod touch 5th generation, and today I realized there was a dent in the bezel surrounding the screen. Will apple replace it?

Yes it covers manufacturing defect. However, the warranty includes this statement:
This Warranty does not apply: (a) to consumable parts, such as batteries or protective coatings that are designed to diminish over time, unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship; (b) to cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports; .....
    http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ipod-english.html
Therefore, Apple may not replace it.
I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to find out.

Can you take a photo of the damage? Once before I saw an LCD that arrived truly internally cracked. The ink was in a perfect circle, writing off any user fault.
In the worst case situation, it might be worthwhile to call Lenovo and purchase a new screen. If you purchase one through them, you can get warranty support for the new screen. I realize that is a terrible alternative, as you should not have to invest more money, but it is the cheapest route to get a functioning LCD.
