Alert Repeat Count For Monitor

When I look in the Active Alerts view in the console many of the alerts have a repeat count. I understand if they are created from a rule and have alert suppression turned on this means only one alert was created instead of having multiple alerts that
are exactly the same open. But for monitors what does this repeat count refer to? I checked the state changes in health explorer and they seem to be somewhere along with that number. When I run an alert report it shows repeat count also but that seems to mean
how many alerts were actually created over the period of time the report is ran for. Please help since I'm not sure what the repeat count is referring to for monitors (not rules) that created alerts which are currently open.

1) But for monitors what does this repeat count refer to?
Repeat count is meaningless for monitor because is always zero.
2) When I run an alert report it shows repeat count also but that seems to mean how many alerts were actually created over the period of time the report is ran for.
This repeat count value in reporting is different to repeat count value in alert view.
In Reporting, the repeat count is how many alerts were actually created over the period of time and is a calculated field which sum up alerts over certain period of time.
In Alert View, the repeat count is the field value of alert record

But I am getting this alert from SCOM and SCOM has no information about the alert for me to find out what to do - thought that was the point of SCOM to let you know of problems and how to resolve them. :)
The alert is coming from the Error Count Monitor that is part of the Hyper-V Management Pack Extensions (v 4.0.0.0)
I have tried looking in the Event Logs on the Host and there doesn't seem to be any storage related errors there. I am trying to establish if this is a false positive, why it is happening and if it is safe to override and ignore.
There is nothing on the Product Knowledge tab and nothing on the Alert Context other than what I have already mentioned (see below).

  • Wrong email count for BI Alert

    Hi,
We've recently configured BI monitoring for our BI landscape in our solution manager system 7.1 SPS10.
Dashboard reports correct data however count of emails is usually wrong and so is the number of alerts in the alert inbox.
For example for one failed chain we get 2-3 emails, and if duration exceeds we again get 2-3 emails for one issue.
    Anyone else faced/facing this issue?
    Regards,
    Abhishek

    Hi Vikram,
    Thanks for your reply.
However the issue that I raised is about BI Monitoring functionality in Solution Manager.
Dashboard for that is from below path from SPS10 onwards.
Tech Mon --> Job and BI Monitoring -> BI Monitoring Scenarios -> Choose scenario -> BW Process Chain Monitor.
One of the available guides for this is from below link.

  • Repeat Count not correct in the SCOM "Alert" Report

    Hi Team
I have an alert 'XYZ' for Server A in my SCOM that has a Repeat Count of 300. I can see that in "All Alerts" on the SCOM console.
But when I run the report "Alert" from under "Microsoft Generic Report Library" for this server A as object. I see that for alert 'XYZ' repeat count is just 1.
Is this a known Issue or Bug in SCOM reports.
Can someone please help me understand why this value is just 1 in SCOM report?
    Thanks, S K Agrawal

When we run "Alert" SCOM report, [dbo].Microsoft_SystemCenter_DataWarehouse_Report_Library_AlertReportDataGet] is the Stored Procedure that runs in background.
I analyzed this and found that Repeat Count of an Alert in this Report has a different meaning than the one in the Alert Properties.
In Reports, Repeat count is the number of alerts that have the same AlertProblemGUID.
Apparently, Each alert has its own AlertGUID and AlertProblemGUID.
Hence the Repeat Count in Reports is different.
Rarely for an alert its AlertGUID and AlertProblemGUID are same.
    Thanks, S K Agrawal

  • Proper counter for logical processors

Under Task Manager, there is an option to view logical processors as seen in the image attached below. Problem is that I would like a more accurate to monitor it, maybe via the Performance Monitor, but I could not find any matching counter for this.
Would appreciate help in this matter.
    Thanks.

That's exactly what I was looking for, great!
Now the other issue, how can I use the Performance Monitor with some sort of alert mechanism, like email?
Any DB of shared data collector set's in which I can browse for usages?
    thanks ahead!

Is it merely enough to enter values for the various events or must I do something further to turn them on? I realize the question is vague but that is a function of my understanding.
Thanks.Yes.. you are right .. You need to enable that metric by setting threshold(You can do it through template or manual) and then configure notification rule for the same.

  • CAPWAP: Retransmission count for packet exceeded

We are noticing that WLAN-APs with HREAP-setup are jumping between different remotely located WLCs.
The APs are LAP1131 and LAP1242 with IOS 12.4(21a)JHC and WLC 4402-50-K9 with 6.0.202-image
All starts with the following Log-entries in the WLAN-APs:
    *Jan 24 08:22:50.036: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Retransmission count for packet exceeded max (CAPWAP_ECHO_REQUEST., 1)
*Jan 24 08:22:50.036: %LWAPP-3-CLIENTEVENTLOG: Switching to Standalone mode
*Jan 24 08:22:50.040: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: GOING BACK TO DISCOVER MODE
    *Jan 24 08:22:50.040: %DTLS-5-SEND_ALERT: Send WARNING : Close notify Alert to 163.157.1.101:5246
*Jan 24 08:22:50.088: %WIDS-6-DISABLED: IDS Signature is removed and disabled.
*Jan 24 08:22:50.090: %CAPWAP-5-CHANGED: CAPWAP changed state to DISCOVERY
    *Jan 24 08:23:00.093: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Selected MWAR 'SGOTWLC03'(index 1).
Who can tell me the reason for this behaviour ?
Is it possible to tune the CAPWAP-parameter retransmission count ?
    Thanks in advance
    Wini

Going to try to answer this a different way for anyone Googling this who needs an answer.
"Is it possible to tune the CAPWAP-parameter retransmission count?"
    Yes. See here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.4/configuration/guides/consolidated/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED_chapter_01110110.html
    Browse to your WLC.
Choose "Wireless" from the top bar.
Under "Access Points" on the left, choose "Global Configuration."
In the main panel off to the right you will see "AP Retransmit Config Parameters" with 2 options: "AP Retransmit Count" and "AP Retransmit Interval."
AP Retransmit Count is how many times it will try to contact a WLC before failing. Maximum is 8.
AP Retransmit Interval is how long between each try. Maximum is 5.
(AP Retransmit Count) * (AP Retransmit Interval) = How long the AP can go without talking to a WLC, in seconds.
If you are using FlexConnect Local Switching and FlexConnect Local Auth, the AP SHOULD still be able to handle clients during this timeframe.
When an AP cannot contact a WLC...
Step 1.) When the retransmit count (max 8, with a max 5 second interval, so 40 seconds max) is exceeded, the AP goes into Standalone mode (similar to Autonomous) and tries to contact a WLC via its static IP for apprx 5 minutes.
Step 2.) If unsuccessful, the AP switches to DHCP, renews the DHCP lease (to get a new IP address) and tries again to contact a WLC for apprx 3 minutes. This repeats 3 times, for a total of apprx 9-10 minutes.
Step 3.) If after step 2 the AP could still not find a controller, the AP reboots itself and starts at Step 1 all over again. Reboot takes apprx 2-3 minutes.
Note if using DHCP addresses, the process may start at Step 2.
Yes, the maximum time an AP can be out of contact with its WLC then is 40 seconds. If you're just using CAPWAP to configure and reconfigure APs which are otherwise nearly autonomous, this can be quite the annoying level of neediness.
"Who can tell me the reason for this behaviour?"
I believe this behaviour is to ensure management capability, and also to support some of the more "interesting" (for lack of a better term) reasons for CAPWAP... maybe wireless client mobility, remote switching, remote authentication, etc. In those scenarios you DO want your APs to be "needy."

  • Get the Count for each row

I'm trying to get the count for each row to total count for each month
    Something like this
    Hardware     |      Jan
    Monitors       |       5
    Processors   |      137
    Printers        |      57
    etc........
How can I write a query for this. I can get the Hardware column but don't know how to get the next column.

If you can provide more data like sample input DML statements it would have been wonderful..
Assuming is , you need a pivot. Here is an article on basic Pivot..
    http://sqlsaga.com/sql-server/how-to-use-pivot-to-transform-rows-into-columns-in-sql-server/
    something like this may be..
    DECLARE @Input TABLE
    Hardware VARCHAR(20),
    [Date] VARCHAR(20)
    INSERT INTO @Input VALUES('Monitor', '01/01/2014'), ('CPU', '01/01/2014'), ('Monitor', '01/03/2014')
    , ('ABC', '01/01/2014'),('Monitor', '02/01/2014')
    ;WITH CTE AS
SELECT Hardware, LEFT(DATENAME(M, [Date]),3) AS [MonthName] FROM @Input
    SELECT *
    FROM
SELECT Hardware, [MonthName], COUNT(Hardware) AS Count FROM CTE GROUP BY Hardware, [MonthName]) a
PIVOT (MAX([Count]) FOR [MonthName] IN ([Jan], [Feb])) pvt

  • What is the Action account type to be created to Workgroup agents in SCOM for monitoring them

    Hi All,
I have newly deployed 20 Workgroup Windows server 2008 R2 DMZ machines in our SCOM 2007 R2. We have deployed it using certificates and ever thing is working fine except for the below.
I keep getting the below alert saying "Run as account login check failed" on all the 20 agents.
So i want to know what type of Run as account is to be created for monitoring the Workgroup agents from the below list ?
Also to which all Run as profile do i need to add the account post creating the Run as account so i the agent is fully being monitored ?
    Gautam.75801

    Hey
Gautam.75801, I use Action Account. As mentioned also make sure your distribute the Action account to the workgroup computers and update the default action account as Roger mentioned.
    Cheers,

  • CCMS Alerts keep coming for the system which was removed from System Monito

    Hello SOLMAN Experts,
Iu2019ve  noticed quite strange behavior of my SOLMAN CCMS Alerts: CCMS Alerts keep coming for the system which was removed from the System Monitoring.
    Have you ever experienced this?
    Please advice
    Thank you
    123

    Hi 123,
Please ensure that autoreaction methods are deleted for those systems.
You can verify system to autoreaction method assigments via RZ21 --> Technical Infrastructure --> Configure Central system -->Assign Central Autoreaction
also check if that system is appearing as online as follows
RZ21-> Topology --> system overview --> Monitored and Remote SAP systems
if yes , make it offline to stop triggering alerts.
I hope this information will help you.

  • How to find out Max threads count for Custom Work Manager??

    Hi All,
How to find out Max threads count for Custom Work Manager??
I have created 1 WM & targeted it to a cluster of 2 MS. Later I created Max thread Constraint = 300 & assigned that to my WM.
I need to check how many threads maximum were created by my WM after lets say 1 completed day.
The idea behind that is to understand if .. 300 is enough or need to increase the same way as we do it for JDBC datasource like.. Active connections Max count.. etc.
    Any Idea?
    regards,
    Tanmay

    Hi Ashish,
    Thanks for your response.
The monitoring page that you are suggesting does not indicate the max thread count reached for a particular WM.
For example, If I have Sample WM with 300 Max Thread Constraint, is there a way for me to check how many threads have been used out of 300??
Any pointers in this regard are appreciated.
    Thanks,

"url one" is configured to access the weburl from internal network and external network(internet) as well.

I have configured for scom monitoring for the above two urls using the SCOM 2007 R2 web application template. After configuration i have not received any alert from the "Url Two"
Q1). I am expecting an alert for "Url two" because it is not configured for external network access.
why i was not received any alert for that.
Q2). How to find an web Url alert is raised for internal network or external network. SCOM Tool is not asked me to specify that the weburl is is from internal/external network access.

  • Repeat Function for Video?

Just got my ATV. Very cool. With an 8mb connection can watch the trailers in rediculously high quality playing on a 1080i monitor with no waiting. I'm really surprised. This is going to be big.
I was wondering if I am missing something or if there is no repeat function for video. Like, if you wanted to just have music videos playing in the background like you would music? Or, do you have to physically choose each show?

Anyone figured out if this is possible? Would be nice for kiosk, roadshow, window display type use if you could:
    1) Set a piece of video content to loop or repeat.
    2) Create a playlist of videos that would play one after the other without human interaction.
    3) Randomly play videos from a playlist of videos without human interaction. (Similar to an audio shuffle function)
So far, trying a playlist in iTunes with video in it doesn't seem to work. The only place you can get at it in the Apple TV menu is through Music and then it errors saying there's no music in that playlist.
This would be great for digital signage applications too. You could set up the content you wanted in a particular playlist via iTunes and have the Apple TV sync/stream that particular content without having someone use the remote.
Doesn't look like there is any of this functionality built in at this point.
MacBook Pro 2.16 (2 GB RAM, 7200 RPM drive)   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   MacBook 1.83 (1 GB RAM) and Dual G5 (2.5 GHz, 2 GB RAM) also

is there any way to send mail alert to sysadmin for any hardware failure? The out-of-the box notifications in SunMC must be set up for every data point on every system, which can be a pain to configure and manage in all but the smallest environments. And as you've noticed, for some hardware attributes there are no "Actions" tabs the allow you to configure email. To gain the features of centralized notification, and to get alarms from all sources of events in SunMC, you should consider installing [PrimeAlert EventAction|http://www.halcyoninc.com/products/EventAction/index.php] . It ships with a 30-day eval license, and if you need any help setting it up, please let me know.
