Alert sounds not working in iPad

My iPad does not play alert sounds and line2 does not send push notifications with sound until i open the app. Maybe the app but does anyone else have this issue? I have gone to settings/generalsound and set the "Ringer and Alerts" section sound to wide open and I turned the "Change with Buttons" to off. Does anyone else have this issue. I was not really looking forward to restoring a back up copy but I might have to.

I have found the answer to my own problem...listed here in this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3008964?start=0&tstart=0 it has to do with the lock mute/rotation button. When the selector switch is on lock rotation alerts will not play sound. Also sounds in apps and sometimes video will not work unless you are listening through head phones. This bug has existed for a while according to the post in the link.

IPhone 6 plus alert sounds not working/only vibration works

Sound not working on ipad speakers, shows headphones and no headphone is plugged in.

My sound is not working on my ipad2 speakers. when I adjust the sound button it shows headphones, I have no headphone installed. I tried reseting the ipad (turned off and on), reset with itunes, updated os.

As per the information you have provided it appears that the audio port has been damaged. Make sure that there is no issues with the port, if there is no damage on the ports, you can get the iPad replaced under warranty.
Resetting and restore would not work as this mostly appears to be a hardware failure.

Sound not working on iPad or Android (HTML5)

ok I am having a problem with the audio on a captivate 6 project published to my server in HTML5 and viewed on Android or iPad. The audio works fine when viewed through a PC but doesn't start playing on iPad or Android untill a minute after the slide is displayed. Any idea why?

Same here I recorded the audio as mp3 with soundbooth and importeit directly to captivate. I am able to see the presentation running on android and ipad but the audio does not work or kicks in 3-4 minutes after the presentation.

Tried by operating right edge buttons,
I tried all options in settings and sounds
also tried rebooted iPad by turning off n on

Check Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Set for lock rotation or Mute
Check Side Switch (Slide) button on right (above volume up/down)
Open Control Center (Slide up at bottom center of home screen) and Verify Volume level

Sound not working on Ipad after ios8 update

I updated to iOS 8.0.2 and the next day, while watching a TV show on my ipad, the sound completely stopped. I did a hard reset, thinking this would solve it, but it didn't work. Sound is not on mute. I tested out all apps that play sound, nothing was playing through the speakers; however, I can hear sound if I use headphones. I did the ipad reset suggestion I saw in a few articles, but still that hasn't work. Any other workarounds or am I going to have to go into the apple store?

It sounds like you have done all the troubleshooting from the article below. I know it is for iPhone, but the troubleshooting is still the same. After everything that you have done, check with the article to make sure you did not miss anything and if it is still giving you issue, then I would recommend making an appointment with your local Apple Store’s Genius Bar.

I'm having the same problem, it just started today (11/13/2012).
Settings > Sounds> Text Tone = Tri-tone
Lock Sounds = On
Keyboard Clicks = Off
The mute button is also in the correct place (ring, not mute).

Is it working on any apps e.g. Music and Videos apps but not third-party apps or notification sounds ? If you do get sound in Music and Videos then have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. HELP iPad mini sound not working

We just bought our daughter her iPad mini today and the sound just stopped working. It'll only work with headphones; we never put headphones in prior to the sound not working. I tried resetting the phone and phone settings several times, as well as plugging in and out headphones. I changed the switch on the side to lock rotate. I also turned off the mono sound thing. I am at a loss as to what else there is to do. Any other suggestions? I've been at this for a couple of hours now trying to fix her iPad. Please help!

If you get sound in the Music and Videos apps but not others then have you got notifications muted ? You say that you changed the side switch to rotation lock, but are sounds muted ? The switch on the side of the iPad controls either rotation or mute, the function that it isn't controlling is set via the iPad's control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the iPad's screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off').

Alert sounds stopped working

My email, WWF, etc. alert sounds stopped working on my Ipad2, suddenly, for no reason. I tried resetting the system 3 times and that did not hellp. The OS is up to date. The do work if I 'test' them, though. And, my sound works fine on videos, etc.
Any suggestions? It is past the warranty period

After upgrade to ios8.3 sound not working

After upgrade to 8.3 on my iPad, Sound not working at all, no matter which application i open there is no sound.

If you don't have sound in the music app or the videos app, try a reset. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
Having suggested that, I assume that you did check to see if the volume is turned up on your iPad.....

I had tried head phones with the same res showed no problemslt.I did run a diagnostic and it showed no problems.I will run a disc check.One other thing when I do play audio the meter in the slider jumps up and down like audio is playing. If the iPhone came from the US then it is locked to AT&T. To unlock an iPhone the original carrier is the only one who can unlock the iPhone and AT&T will not unlock iPhones. So there is not official way to unlock the iPhone 4.
At this point there is no way to hack the iPhone 4 running 4.2.1 to unlock it either so the phone and messaging apps will never work. You basically have an iPod touch.

Open System Preferences > Sound > Output
Make sure the coorect output devices is selected and the Mute button is not checked.
