Alert

Question

This is the first time I tried creating an Alert. I have followed the Crystal Xi built-in Help step by step. The alert is triggered by the following condition:
Formula = NumericText ({?Employee Number}) and {?Format} = "Employee Daily Totals"
I have tested this condition to make sure it evaluates as True when intended.
I have entered a text message into the Alert box. The name of the alert is Parameter Error.
But when select "bad parameters" and run the report the Alert message does not pop up. There is no Alert popup at all. And when I open the Alert menu and go to Triggered Alerts there is nothing in the list.
What am I doing wrong?

I just did a brief recreation of the process you described and it worked fine.  Here's what I did:
Created a spreadsheet with 3 columns, Employee Number, Total, and Total Type
The first I entered employee numbers, the second total values and the third I broke into daily, weekly and monthly totals.
I created a Crystal report, added these three fields and created two prompts: Employee Number and Total Type.  Both of these parameters are dynamic and do not allow multiple selection criterea.  I added the parameter fields to the report header and suppressed them.
I then created the following formula in the Alert condition:
(NumericText(totext({?Employee Number}, 0)) AND ({?TotalType} = "Employee Daily Total"))
Note: the totext() function was required because the passed value was numeric.  You probably don't need to use it.
I ran the report for an employee number is designed to match the alert criteria and this worked fine.  I would insure that:
1) Your parameters are dynamic, so there's no chance of text not matching the underlying data
2) You parameters do not allow multiple values (that would require a different formula and your current one wouldn't work anyway)
3) you added the parameters to the report header
