Alerting in CEN - Solutionmanager

Hi All
We have set up Solution Manager as CEN.Gone through the SAP Note 176492 and done the following steps
1.Set up a Admin user in 000 client.Sender parameter in SALO_IN_CASE_EMAIL
2.Set up SCOT settings in 000
3.SET up CCMS ALERT METHOD in RZ21 of working client with parameter settings
4.Assign CENTRAL AUTO REACTIONS to MTE Classes in working client
5.Activate Central System Dispatching in working client
Is there anything else to be done and in which client?
Is a RFC from 000 to Working client of CEN required?
what if the SCOT settings are in the working client ?
The Mails are not triggered, dont know how to proceed from here.
Thanks
Gnana

We are having the exact same problem.  I have walked through all the configs a dozen times and nothing is jumping out at me.  I can generate e-mail through SCOT just fine manually, but the AutoReaction Methods that send e-mail don't seem to be triggered.  No e-mails are even getting to the SCOT SMTP queue.
If anyone has figured this one out, we all would much appreciate it.

  • Application Alert Categories CCMS :CEN

    hello all,
I have been working on central alert configuration and have seen variety of posts on this. Thanks to SDN.
i have also seen forum posts reg. Application related alerts(RWB Alert Categories) to Central CCMS.
I have earlier configured Alerts by defining alert categories and rules through RWB and receive email over those on individual remote system.
but with Central CEN as is the architecture, i want to monitor everything through CEN. Now for this i have configured remote system to report CCMS alerts ( inc RWB Categories ) to CEN.
After this i can see in RZ20 :
    Tree node of :
RWB Alert Categories : Active Alerts
    |
    ><Alert Category Name>
    .........|
    .........----->No. of Active Alerts
    .........----->Assigned rule ( i) <Rule_name>
Even through i can see alerts in CEN (under system alerts ) and above RWB Alert Categories goes red when an issue comes , i cant see the exact error text defined in Alert categories under this tree ?. i.e. Short text or Long text.
Any clue how to link that error text defined in Alert Categories of Remote system and rule specs to CCMS,  aswell will be of great help.

  • Central Autoreaction Method doesn't work for NW 7.10 in SolMan 7.01

    Hello!
The central autoreaction method doesn't work for the satellite system
NW 7.10. For systems with kernel releases 4.6D, 640, 700 this method
works fine and e-mail alerts are coming.
    The configuration steps I've checked:
    1. Configured SCOT. The mail_send job executes every 5 minutes.
    2. Background dispatching job is released: SAP_CCMS_MONI_BATCH_DP (In
central CEN/000/DDIC and satellite system SAT/000/DDIC)
    3. Central dispatching job is released: SAP_CCMS_CENSYS_DISPATCHER
    (Only in central system CEN/000/DDIC)
    4. The sapccm4x-agent registered as web service within CEN using
Create Remote Monitoring for NW 7.10:
Connection test to SAPCCM4X.<satellite_host>.00 was performed successfully
    5. Created a new autoreaction method by copying method
    CCMS_OnAlert_Email_V2 to the own Z_CCMS_Email_Alert_CEN:
    Function Module - SALO_EMAIL_IN_CASE_OF_ALERT_V2
Execute Method on Any Server and Only in Central System, triggered by
    CCMS agents
    SENDER (EMAIL_USER) exists in CEN/000 , RECEPIENT - <distr list
    SAP_BASIS in CEN/000>, RECIPIENT-TYPEID - C
    6. Got MTE Classes from NW 7.10 satellite system and assigned this method
    Z_CCMS_Email_Alert_CEN to an MTE-class CCMS_ORAucPSAPSR3 for NW 7.10
satellite system. The alert is red right now.
    7. The mail_send job doesn't send anything, in SCOT there are no
    sending orders.
    8. Autoreaction status on this alert in CEN in RZ20 - Sent to CEN.
    CEN_CHECKED.
    9. The alert status in RZ20 in CEN - ACTION_REQUIRED. If I execute it
in manual the alert status changes to ACTIVE, but no email and no
messages in sending orders in SCOT.
Please help me to solve this issue.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Since you are using RECIPIENT-TYPEID =C i.e. General distribution list, pls ensure to have shared type of list created in SBWP.
Also pls verify your SCOT configutaion , if apropriate address area i.e. *@abc.com
Also one point to note that even if you trigger auto reaction method manually via RZ20 , pls check if alert is listed in SOST.
if yes , that means there is problem in either SCOT configuration or distribution list.
    If alert is not appearing in SOST , that means you need to check auto reaction method parameters;
Z_CCMS_OnAlert_Email_V2 , here check release section if Auto reaction execution method is checked.

  • Using more than one Solution Manager for different usages

    Dear all,
we are using a solution manager system with >100 connected systems.
The system should primarily be used as service desk system, but is also used for BC issues (e.g. MOPZ,...) at the moment.
We have to implement a central monitoring system (CEN) using the CCMS infrastructure.
It is recommended to use a seperate system for this issue, because of high performance requirement and the requirement to have the newest support packages for CEN+MOPZ.
Because of that recommendation we are thinking about installation of a second solution manager system which should handle all BC and Monitoring (CEN+SolutionManager-Monitoring) issues.
Do you have any experience with such a landscape? Are there known problems respectively is such a landscape possible/workable? How should the systems be connected? ( client system<=>solman / solman<=>solman )
I regret that I could not find any official landscape recommendations from SAP for big landscapes (VAR environment)?
If you know any applicable documents, please let me know.
    Thank you for your help.
    Best regards,
    Sascha

    Hi Sascha
Technically Solution Manager is being billed as the Central system for everything Service Desk, MOPZ and CCMS - one central location for all scenarios
One of the reasons for this is lifecycle management -- monitoring or EWA scenario finds a problem, service desk raises the issue, charm or mopz implements the solution and it is tested and distributed and the whole lifecycle is documented one system. Indeed I am aware of no functionality to integrate scenarios between Solution Manager systems - each Solution Manager system in your proposal will be standalone for each scenario
I can't provide guarantees because SAP recommend 1 Solman PRD only, but it might be possible to use another PRD Solution Manager system (or client) for scenarios that not already setup in the existing Solution Manager system - this certainly is the most possible way to have 2 PRD Solution Manager systems (or clients) running in parallel.
The key thing to be aware of is RFC conflicts - as each scenario usually has its own RFC this might be avoided - however
do watch out for situations where scenarios share RFCs or you if find RFCs existing with the same name OR client and SID in any systems in the following landscape
Landscape 1 - Satellite System 1 to Solman System 1 Service Desk, MOPZ
Landscape 2 - Satellite System 1 to Solman System 2 CCMS, EWA
    Best wishes
    Stuart

  • CCMS Monitoring (language)

    Hello all,
we acativated system monitoring and alerting in SAP solutionmanager. The problem is, that we receive all alerts by mail in german language. Who can tell me where we can change this language settings?
    Thanks
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
When you define a new method definition at transaction RZ21, the language is the same that you have logged on at your Solution Manager. Maybe, if you defined this method in german, the mail is typed in german too. Please, try to create the method again in english language.
I hope it could help you.
    Best regards,
    Tomas.

  • CEN CCMS Alert is not repeat

    Hi,
I setup Alert in Solution Manager using RZ21 --> Technical Infrastructure --> Configure Central System --> Assign Central Autorecation
Use MTE Class CPU_Utilization and Free Memory I am keep getting alerts in E Mail but only one time it not Repate anymore... I changed Threshold values like GREEN to YELLOW and YELLOW to RED I put eveyring is 0 alert is RED but only one time I received...
    Please help
    Thanks

    Hi,
for performance attributes only one alert is raised if the threshold is reached. As long as the values don't fall back into the 'green' interval there will be no new alert.
Details about this are described in the Online Documentation: [Properties of Performance Attributes|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/e9/e55b3b18debb64e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm]

  • System monitoring - alert email notification

    Hello Sapers,
I already set up system monitoring in our Solution Manager but i would like to receive mail if any alert occur.  Unfortunatelly I did not find any way how to do it through Solution Manager. I guess there must be something like edit -> Automatic email transmission where I set up sending Earlywatch and SL reports to my mailbox, but how to set up alert email notification?
I also tried another way - setting up CEN (in our sollution manager) in RZ20, there i created monitor where i have desired alerts from all remote systems configured in SMSY (i have not used sapccm4x or any other ccms agent), also tried autoreaction method on local and it is working fine (SCOT is set up) but when i tried create and assign central autoreaction method (sapnote 429265) during assigning i receive error "no ccms agent avalable for system" and it is not working. Do I really need configure SAPCCM4X on all remote systems when i want to use central autoreaction? I dont feel very confortable with this solution. I think there must be some other smarter way (maybe in solution manager).
We also tried to connect our RZ20 monitor set to nagios (used in our company to monitor non sap servers and email notification), but we are not able to compile the ccms nagios plugin uder 64bit. AIX 5.3.
I also heard little bit about ALM (Alert management) but dont know anything about forwarding alerts from RZ20 to ALM and transmitting email from there. But I think this sollution would be the most difficult from all mentioned above.
Thank you very much for any help

    Josef,
Somewhat chasing the point here - when you have the Solman and you look in your CCMS and you can see the other systems - it is all RFC data and not actually on the Solution Manager (the only local MTE's are those tha belong to the Solution Manager).  For the Solution Manager to Centrally Auto-React to threasholds (act as the CEN System), the information needs to be passed to the Central System through the agents.
If you want to do email threasholds on your remote systems, you can configure it on each of the systems individually without agents as this is a CCMS Function that any SAP System can do - but this is not Central Auto-Reaction.  This is just actions taken on individual systems based on local MTE's.
To Centrally Auto-React - you have to add the agents so the information is passed to the CEN to react on.
I hope that this has clarified the situation a bit more.  If this answers your question, please set this thread to answered.

  • Problem with alerts in the alert inbox

    Hi experts,
I have configured AE alerts and I wanted to display the Error details as in RWB in the alert as well. With the help of SDNers in the thread
    Alerts for JDBC adapter
I added SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT in the container.
Now, alerts are getting generated and I could see the value for error description in the report alrtdisp for the alert generated as:
    <i>java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/sap/workdir/output.txt (Permission denied (errno:13))</i>
but the alert in the alert inbox displays a blank in place of this description.
    any clues?

  • RZ21 Auto Alert Method

    Hi,
I have followed the SAP help portal and OSS note 176492 to setup alert monitoring in client 000. I wanted to create a single alert to send emails when the sapreorg on the CEN filesystem reaches the precentage used threshold levels. The pre-reqs done are:
    - SAPconnect has been configured in client 000, tested and works successfully.
    - solution landscape has been configured successfully.
    - CCMS agents deployed and configured in RZ21.
I have done the following to setup alert monitoring:
RZ21 -> Configure central system -> Assign central autoreactions
create new central Auto reaction using the  named as a Z name Z_CCMS_ALERT_FS_USED by using CCMS_OnAlert_Email_V2 as a template and setup according to note 176492.
select SAP SID, select  MTE called "Filesystems" and selected my Z auto reaction and click save which now appears at the bottom. I now setup a monitor in DSWP -> solution monitoring for that landscape and system and set the threshold levels, data collected every 100 seconds and click save. After this i go into RZ20 and select
SAP CCMS Monitor Templates -> filesystems -> and select my sapreorg MTE.
to test this i take a copy of a redo log and place it in the sapreorg directory and copy it a couple of times to trigger the threshold alert. After a couple of refreshes in RZ20 the MTE alert for sapreorg changes to red, which also shows on the DSWP solution monitoring dashboard so i should recieve an email with an alaert....correct?
I checked SOST and i see no email whatsoever and i am not sure where to begin troubleshooting.
    Any ideas?
Mani (I hope i have explained my setup procedure the best i can :s )

    Hi,
Yes the SAPconnect was tested and i managed to send myself an email from business workplace without any issues. The CCMS dispatcher is working fine in client 000.
According to your mesage "Also, Do check whehter the autoreaction method is assigned properly - in MTE- properties->method->Autoreaction. "
I checked this but i am not sure what this means but i checked the "Monitoring: properties and Methods" and select methods and looked at Autoreaction method and there is <NO_METHOD>  mentioned.
If i double click the MTE class "FilesystemPercentageUsed" and look at the auto reaction method, there is nothing in there. I am not sure where i am checking this or should i be changing it from the SAP-DEFAULT
    Any advice?
    Mani

  • Problem related to Alert

    Hi,
I have a query related to Alert.
I have configured the Alert Framework, checked mapping related errors it was generating the mails etc.So Alert framework is working fine for Mapping related conditions.
Problem: I have defined a rule for receiving application error in Integration engine which contains the condition
Error Category:  XI adapter & Error Code : *
I checked suppress mail alerts & Connected to message: YES
Test Case: I shut down the receiving application so SAP XI processes the message successfully but with system error and my objective was to generate an alert in this case. But System has not generated an alert as the data was not posted to receiving application.
Can anybody suggest some solution to my problem?

  • What is ALERT Management.how to use it?

what is ALERT Management. what is it's use.how to do ALERT Management?

    HI
Alerts within XI give us a simple way to monitor only those errors that we want to and send alert messages to different people depending on the alert category.
Alert configuration is used to have the system inform you of errors during message processing.
By using the Alert Framework, central monitoring can be provided with all errors reported during message processing in ABAP and Java. This enables an improved reaction to such errors in both the ABAP runtime and the Java-based Adapter Engine. For this purpose, the Alert Framework is provided with rules based on certain events and on information from the header of the message protocol. These rules determine whether alerts are send or not.
    Alert Configuration:
    1) An Alert is a notification informing its recipients that a critical or very important situation has arisen. The
situation is as severe that an action must be taken immediately in order to resolve the situation. The
system recognizes the situation and sends the Alert.
    2) We use the Alert Configuration to have the system inform you of errors during message processing. we
can receive the Alert by e-mail, fax, or SMS.
    3) To configure your Alerts, proceed as follows:
    a) Create the Alert Categories that we want to use in our Alert Rules.
    b) Create the Alert Rules in which we want to use our Alert Categories
    4) An Alert is an instance of an Alert Category
    5) Alert Categories can be defined by applications or customers using the Alert Category definition
environment, which is accessed in Transaction Code ALRTCATDEF
    6) The Structure of Alert Category is defiened by the following
    a) Technical key (language-independent) for identification purposes
    b) Description (language-dependent)
    c) Classification
    d) Priority
    e) Maximum number of deliveries. (This applies to delivery to a destination other than the alert
    inbox.)
    f) Expiry time (in minutes) after which the alert is deleted
    g) Escalation recipient to whom the alert is sent if it is not confirmed by any of its recipients
    h) Tolerance time before escalation
    i) Short text, long text, and title
The title is used as mail title, fax subject, and alert title in the inbox. The long text is used as
mail/fax body and the long text view in the inbox. The short text is used for pager and SMS.
    j) Container for variable definition if variables are to be used in the texts, or for other application-
    specific attributes
    k) Subsequent activities in the form of URLs

  • Alerts for SXMB_MONI mapping errors, RWB errors

    Hi,
We are having solman 7.0 with EHP1/oracle on HP-UX.
I have to configure CCMS alerts for SXMB_MONI mapping errors, RWB errors for PI system(SAP EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.1).
I cant find any MTE related to  SXMB_MONI mapping errors or RWB errors under the PI system in my CEN.
So, can anyone please guide me to configure this?
    Thanks
    Nanda

    Hello Nanda,
you have to configure ALert Categories in the Alert Framework (ALM) before any MTE are shown in CCMS. And then you would see the MTE in the local CCMS of your PI system.
Configuration steps are descirbed in the PDF "Setup Guide for Interface Monitoring" under http://service.sap.com/bpm > Media Library > Technical Information. In thisdocument you can also learn how the CCMS MTEs can be integrated with Business Process Monitoring in SAP Solution Manager. And actually BPMon provides some new monitoring capabilites for the Java part of PI that are not covered via CCMS at all.
    Best Regards

  • Alerts from ECC

Chek these... i have a doubt which is bold below.....
    Alert Rules
Message-based alerting is used to notify about errors that occur during message processing. It is based on the alert framework, among other things, so you can leverage the functions it provides, such as sending the alert by e-mail, fax, or SMS.
By defining rules within the RWB, you can filter the monitored messages according to error code, error category, and message header attributes for sender and receiver. For instance, if a customer only wants to be informed immediately when his core business scenarios fail, the message-based alerting can be restricted to the respective interfaces only.
    -     Use RWB to define Alert Rules within PI
    -     Use ABAP for defining rules within ECC and generate an alert from ECC to PI by passing the right variables.
    My question is
how do to this.....how to define rules within ECC and generate  an alert from ECC to PI by passing the right variables...?
any idea guys....i am going with ALRTCATDEF...

  • Solution Manager as CEN and PI 7.1

    Hi,
We have a PI 7.1 sytem that has a Message-Based Monitoring that is configured LOCALLY via Runtime Workbench -> Alert configuration (explained here : https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e05ad5a6-4b4f-2b10-df94-9b9e0392d306).
Also we have Solution Manager 4.0 SPS17 and is configured and a Central monitoring system (CEN). Soon, we are going to configure the ALM in the solution manager.
However, I need to know how the Message-Based Monitoring integrated the ALM mechanism of the CEN system ? did anyone implement it ? moreover, can we configure the Message-Based Monitoring via the solution manager to prevent any configuration being done locally ?
    Please advice,
    Dimitry Haritonov

You can also setup an Alert Management (ALM) either on Solution Manager or any Netweaver based system.  ALM allows you control alerts more narrowly.  You could have a rule for that specific system where no alerts are sent given a specific time window.
It's great for setting rules that say - send an email when XX system has an issue during these hours.  Then after work or during the night shift, send an SMS text instead of an email.  ALM is very powerful and can be used by all SAP solutions - ERP, SCM, Solution Manager, Portal - etc etc.  It's basically a rules based system for routing alerts.  Also allows you to do escalations and force people to confirm alerts when they have acknowledged them.
Hope this gives you another option.

  • Troubleshooting email alerts for CCMS

    Hi,
I'm trying to configure emails for ccms alerts which are generated in our solution manager system.
    Our CEN is client 700.
Scot activated and working in both client 000 & 700
Copy made of method CCMS_OnAlert_Email and assigned to autoreactions in RZ21. ( Auto-reaction method ticked in copied method.)
    Parameter maitained in autoreaction:
    SENDER = JIMOSHEA
    RECIPIENT = <email address>
    RECIPIENT-typeid = c
    SUBJECT_ALERT
    Dispatching jobs running and ok.
User contaIns email address in SU01
    Restarted sol man system.
I'm wondering if anyone has come across a workflow or even some reports which can be used to tested the different phases of "emailing ccms alerts" so I can see where my config is failing.
    Thanks in Advance
    Jim

We're using PI 7.11 so it's not using the agent per say but I did a complete restart and this did not help.
The ccms monitor is reporting the system is down so it seems in Sol Man it's not executing the reaction method.
With SAP NetWeaver 7.1, the architecture of the CCMS was significantly
developed, meaning that, among other things, you no longer require a
SAPCCMSR CCMS agent for double-stack systems, even with a central
monitoring system with SAP NetWeaver 7.01. Therefore, do not install
this agent for SAP NetWeaver 7.1 double-stack systems.
