Alerts for recurring calendar appointments do not go off

Does anyone else have this issue?  I have a bunch of recurring calendar events, set up in Outlook 2010, which the iPhone 4 used to show alerts for.  Now (not sure when this started, but w/in last few months) there aren't any alerts even though I can see "1 day before" in the iPhone Calendar app for the recurring event.  I even made a slight change to the recurring event in hopes of getting them back on track but no luck.  Thanks.

I'm having the exact same issue with my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.3.3, 4.3.4 and 4.3.5). I'm a new user (this is my first iPhone, bought one month ago), so I can't comment on earlier iOS versions. In the one month that I have the phone, I'm absolutely sure that I have never had an alert from a recurring event. I only noticed it a couple of weeks ago. I'm only using all-day events (for anniversaries, etc.), so I'm not sure if the same applies to other types of events.
I have made several tests and I can confirm that no alerts are generated for recurring all-day events. Something is seriously messed up in the Calendar App algorithms. At first I thought it had to do with MS Outlook 2007, whose calendar is synced with the iPhone. But when I create a recurring all-day event directly on the iPhone I get exactly the same behaviour (no alert, no pop-up, no sound, nothing). I can see the event on Calendar on the iPhone, and I can also see the alert settings (the time it should be generated, e.g., "Alert: 2 hours before"). So everything looks OK on the iPhone, but the alerts are never generated. I also did a test with a non-recurring all-day event, and everything worked fine (I got the alert pop-up and sound at the time I specified). This means that it's something specific to recurring events. Finally, I restored the iPhone to factory defaults and tried again by creating a recurring event directly on the untouched, factory-reset iPhone. Same thing, no alerts, no pop-ups, no sound, nothing.
This is clearly a serious bug in the Calendar App and I'm very surprised that Apple has not released an update to fix it. Also, I couldn't find much information on the Internet about this issue. That's why I'm replying to this thread, to let you and others know that you are not alone. I asked a friend of mine who is running iOS 5 Beta 2 and he said that everything works fine, so I guess we'll have to wait for iOS 5 to fix the issue.
I hope this helps someone out there. If anyone running iOS 4.3.3 or later is having the same problem, please reply here. Most of all, I hope that the guys at Apple read this and do something about it.

  • Exceptions to recurring calendar appointments no longer show up

    Hi All,
I recently upgraded to iOS 5.0 (and the new 5.0.1 update) and since making the change, exceptions to recurring calendar appointments made in my Exchange Calendar no longer show up on my phone. This is a bit annoying and I'm wondering if anybody else has run into this problem and has found a solution for it. I have tried turning on and off the calendars and deleting my iCloud account. I have not yet fully deleted and re-setup my email account, and am hoping I won't have to.
    I appreciate the help.

can't help, but defenity somehting not right with iOS 5.0.1. we are having problems with excahgne calendars syncing after updating

  • How do I remove an alert for a calendar item that has long since been deleted? and yet goes off mysteriously, un-deletably, and un-editably every single ****** week !!

How do I remove an alert for a calendar item that has long since been deleted? and yet goes off mysteriously, un-deletably, and un-editably every single ****** week !!

I have the same problem with my iPhone.  I set up a recurring calendar event for every Thursday.  That event is no longer happening during the summer, so I went in and chose one from the current month and selected Delete.  Then it gve me two choices, one of which was to Delete All Future Events of this one, and that's what I chose.  I figured, this way, I'll still be able to see the ones from the past, but won't have to see (or hear the alert) for the future ones.
The following week, my phone alerted me to the appointment, and even showed it on the initial screen, even though it wasn't in the calendar.  I went in to the calendar and NOTHING was scheduled for that day.  So why is this happening?
So I set up a new recurring event, for in the past, then went in and deleted all furture occurances, and it did the same thing... still alerted to an event that was no longer in the calendar.
I hope somebody else has found a fix, or at least a reason for why this is happening.

  • How do I set up an email Alert for a Calendar event?

I can't figure out how to set up an email Alert for a Calendar event at icloud.com or on an iOS device.  Am I missing something?

  • How do I turn off alerts to a calendar that I have turned off in iCloud?

I have added my iCloud account to my son's iPod and only have the Family Calendar turned on but he keeps receiving alerts for every appointment in my Personal Calendar....how do I turn off the alerts for the calendar that he doesn't even have turned on?

Csound1, he does have his own account and I added my iCloud account as a second one with only the Family Calendar turned on however he is still receiving alerts for all of my events in the Personal Calendar.  I'm wondering if 'sharing' the calendar rather than having him logged into my iCloud calendar would help?  He's not the only one either, my daughter and husband have the same set up and I keep getting calls from my husband saying "oh, are you going to pick up the drycleaning now?" hahaha!  Even though that Personal Calendar is turned off, they keep getting the alerts..argh!!

  • Outlook 2003 & Recurring Calendar Appointments

I am using Windows XP, Microsoft Exchange Server, with an itouch. If Outlook and itunes were open at the same time, or Outlook was opened after itunes, Outlook would fail to properly operate and would respond: Outlook0.ost is in use and could not be accessed.
For me, this problem was solved be eliminating all recurring appointments in Outlook that did not have an end date. Once end dates for all recurring appointments were set, outlook seems to behave properly now.

I am having the same issue and the article you're suggesting only relates to a Mac operating system. Whereas I do own a Mac (Mac Mini & Macbook), this issue is occuring when I'm attempting to sync my iPhone with my calendar & contacts at the office.
I just recently upgraded to Office 2007 from Office 2003 and now when I try to sync, it seems to get stuck during the syncing of contacts. I am just an end user and my company does not support iPhone so there aren't any changes I can make to the exchange server, etc....
Please help!!!! I desperately need access to my updated calendar appointments.

  • Why do I keep getting alerts for shared calendars?

I have a calendar set up in Calendar, it syncs with iCloud.
My wife has a clanedar set up in Calendar, it syncs with iCloud.
Both calendars are shared, so we can see what the others availability is on a given day at a given time.
But why do I keep getting alerts on my iPhone (and only on my iPhone) for my WIFE's events?  I've turned off the "show shared calendar events" button in the calendar preferences on my iPhone, but I'm *still* getting alerts for all her events.  I don't need this, I don't want this, I turned it off... why is it still happening?
My iCloud calendar is defaulted to my calendar.  I do not get alerts on my iMac for her events, only on the iphone.  Can anyone help?  I never want to see her events unless I manually go and look at them on my calendars or in iCloud calendar.

  • Alerts for recurring events in iCal no longer display on iPhone after iOS5 upgrade

That pretty much says it.  I have a daily meeting in my iCal, with two alarms set, one for 15 minutes before and one for 5 minutes before.  The alerts no longer display on my phone after the upgrade.  (They appear on my Mac no problem.)  Has anyone else seen this problem?  I have notifications turned on for iCal , set to Alerts.  Tried badges, tried turning notifications off then on, to no avail.  It doesn't display for recurring events that were in my calendar before the upgrade and for those created after the upgrade.  I don't seem to have a problem with regular i.e. non-recurring events.  Doesn't seem to matte also if it is the default calendar or a different calendar either.  (I tried Reminders and that worked fine, but I don't want to have type all of my recurring events in to iCal and then in to Reminders as well....)
    Thanks very much

I'm having the same problem on my iMac (works on a different phone on my MBP). I restored the iphone and no dice. I'm also constantly getting a beach ball... Hope someone out there knows a workaround.

  • Searching for Old Calendar Appointments

I keep my full Calendar with all my old appointments on my iPad. As such, I have appointments going back 4 or more years. I routinely have to look up dates of some of these older appointments, yet I can't find a way to tell the iPad to search/find them. According to any documentation that I can find, it says that SpotLight Search will only search 1 year in the past and 1 year in the future. However, even if I search for a phrase using the search bar in the Calendar, it will not find these old appointments. Does anyone know of a setting that needs to be changed or how this can be done?
    Thanks,
    Merg

Hi QTsearcher, I had the same problem, and am now running Myst on Windows 98SE along with Riven and Exile. If you have games from the same era as Myst, i.e. the same time or up to a year later, check the folders and files that come up when you get ready to install them, some have QT programs that you can install alone without installing the game. After you install the QT, then install the Myst and it will find the version that it wants... This is what I did, and it worked for me.
    Good Luck

  • Can I have an alert for each calendar overlay

I have a calendar web app on my SharePoint site.  I have several overlays for it for our different conference rooms/departments.  What I want to do is to have an alert made for each individual overlay.  My result would be that the director
for that specific conference room/department would get an email/alert stating that someone has booked the room for a specific time.  Is this possible?  I know that I can create an alert for the entire web app, but I don't want that.  The HR
director does not need to know when the Resource Center Boardroom is booked and vice versa kind of thing.

    Few quick questions -
When you say 'calendar web app', is it SharePoint 2013 app? or just SharePoint web application or SharePoint custom solution developed using full trust model?
Are you using SharePoint calender or Outlook (Exchange Server) calendar?
Do you want to send notification immediately or schedule it daily?

  • Can't set Calendar Alerts for Google Calendar

I have several Google Calendars for my work and personal schedules. I've used Apple Calendar (formerly iCal) on my Mac, and the Calendar app on my iPhone to interact with my Google Calendars for years with no issues.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I can no longer set alerts on any Google Calendar events. When I edit a Google Calendar event using Apple Calendar, I can change any field, including the 'Alert' settings. However, when I click to save my changes, the alert settings are entirely removed.
In Calendar Preferences, I can set a default alert that applies to all my Google Calendars, but I can't change the settings for any individual calendar event. If I attempt to do so, then Apple Calendar removes all alerts from the event.
UPDATE: It seems the problem is that Google Calendar doesn't know what to do with a "Message with sound" alert type. You can use "Message" and it works fine (with no sound obviously).

Strange, I am experiencing the exact problems you describe, however it doesn't matter whether the alert is set as "message" or "message with sound".
By default, events created in a Google calendar have an alert of "mesage, 30 minutes before". If I try to change the time, add a new alert, or remove the default alert, inevitably it get's reset to the default state.
Furthermore, If I change the alert using Google Calendar in a web browser, the event in Calendar (aka iCal) doesn't get updated, it stays at 30 minutes. Sometimes I receive the alert an hour before anyway, despite what Calendar indicates. Very Frustrating.

  • E71 MfE - new calendar appointments do not appear ...

If I add a new calendar appointment on the E71 mfe does update the calendar on my Exchange Server however the new appointment is not visible within Outlook.
I can tell it has updated to the exchange end as when I check my calendar from within the webmail interface of exchange I can see the appointment.
From Outlook using the day/week/month views the appointment is not visible. The only way I can see the appointment within Outlook is to click view > current view > all apointments, the appointment will appear within the list of appointments.
The only difference I can see with appointments created on the handset and the desktop is that handset created appointments do not appear to have an 'end date' listed in outlook (perhaps this is why I cant see them in other views?). I have entered an end date on the handset at the time of creating the appointment.
Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong?

  • I just downloaded fantastical for my calendar and do not see on my iPhone - how do i get he app on my phone

I just downloaded the app fanstical for my calendar - the app shows on my mac but how do i get it show on my iphone?

It is installed as part of the sync process, if your iTune settings are set appropriately.
The User Guide is available at http://support.apple.com/manuals/ or downloadable from iTunes as an iBook.

  • Why am I getting double popup alerts for Google Calendar events on iPhone?

This is happening on both mine and my wife's iPhones (mine is a 4 and hers is a 3GS) which are both on the latest iOS (6.0.1).  This is what I've figured out:
On iPhones: Default is to set no alerts/reminder for calendar events
On Google Calendar: Default is to set a popup alert 1 hour before event & email 1 hour before event
When I create a new event on my iPhone: It saves with no alerts set, then after uploading to google calendar it shows as having two alerts 1 hour before the event.  If I go into Google Calendar, it shows that 1 popup and 1 email are each set for 1 hour before the event.
When I create a new event on in Google Calendar: It saves with 1 popup and 1 email are each set for 1 hour before the event per the default settings.  If I go to my iPhone, it shows that I have 2 alerts, both for 1 hour before the event.
So it seems that the iPhone is seeing both the popup and email alerts and creating two popup alerts on my phone!
Is there anyway to fix this?  I've tried setting up the calendar on my iPhone through Gmail account, Exchange account and CalDav account and it's all the same.

I figured it out.  It has to do with which calendars you want displayed.  Duplications come from multiple calender selections.

  • Non-recurring calendar entries did not restore from backup

I synch contacts and calendar from PC, music and video from Mac. In the past, when I synced a new iphone for the first time, the backup on Itunes on my Mac automatically restored all contacts and calendar entries onto the new iPhone. Today, however, when I did the maiden sync on new 3GS (old iphone was first generation), my contacts and settings seem to have generally been restored, but none of my calendar entries made it over except for a few repeat calendar entries. I'm assuming I will pick up the missing calendar entries when I do my first sync to PC, but does anyone have a theory as to why this happened? Shouldn't all contacts and calendar entries be restored from the backup on the Mac, even though I do not keep my contacts and calendar on the Mac? Thanks for the help.

Follow up to my post -- I now realize that the contacts that got restored to my 3GS are in fact way outdated -- so it appears that the backup from which I restored, while it seems to have had current settings, had very outdated contacts and calendar. It may be that at one time the backup process captured contacts and calendar but no longer does, which I guess means the user has to sync to the computer where he syncs contacts and calendar to get current data onto the iphone (just like I did for music). This may sound obvious to most people, but bear in mind that my 3GS got a list of contacts (and some calendar entries) from SOMEWHERE when I synced to my Mac, even though my Mac has no such data (it is on my PC in Outlook).
