Alerts in a combo chart

Is there any way to have alerts for each series in a combo chart?

Alerts are disabled for charts that have more than one series since you need the different colors to differentiate the series from one another.

Need help in Line bar combo chart - line is not prominent in dashboard

Hi All,
I face an issue where the line in a line bar combo chart is not prominent in Dashbords.
lets say i have 5 reports (all of them are line bar combo charts) in a dashboard. The lines in graph are not prominent or not displayed in usual thickness. But this scenario does not happen always. if i scroll down or up the browser(here i am using IE8) some of the reports displays line in the charts and some does not display the line. when i click on the report then the line will be displayed.
please suggest whether this is a browser issue ror something to deal with OBIEE itself.

Patch 12947990: BAR CHANGES WIDTH WHEN CHART CHANGED FROM DEFAULT LINE-BAR TO STACKED LINE-BAR
Symptoms
When the chart type is changed from Standard or Default line-bar to Stacked line-bar chart, the bars are reducing their width.
Line-bar should keep the width of the previous bars.
However, when vertical Bar is changed to stacked vertical, the bar width remains the
same. But when a regular Line-Bar is changed to stacked vertical, the width
changes (reduces, in this case it becomes half the original width)
Cause
For dual Y stacked bar graph, the bar width was half of the regular bar width
because the series assigned to Y2 was given the half of the space also. This is not needed if the marker type for Y2 is not bar.

Create combo chart in webi

Dear experts,
Is it possible to have a combo chart in webi? By combo I mean having mixed a bar and line chart.... I would have a primary Y axis used by the bars and a secondary Y axis used for the line.
If it's possible could you explain to me how to achieve it.

Hey Inês,
We can do it by using Bar & Line chart types.
Go to Templates:
Charts:
Vertical Bar & Line chart
Horizontal Bar & Line chart
etc...,
It gives you a chance to show Two Y-Axis

Drill down mapping in Combo chart in BAM 11g

Is it possible to enable drill down for both the report in combo chart?That means i have a combo chart of zone wise distribution of total price as bar chart and zone wise distribution of total quote as line chart.If i click on bar chart and line chart it will open another report.

Hi Anish,
There is "Series Names Destination:" parameter on Drill-Down (Insertion) Tab of Bubble chart component. By using that parameter you can retrieve selected serie. Via that value you can extract selected serie's selected value and drill down to required selection via some excel formulas like index-match or vlookup-hlookup. I hope that solves your issue.

Alerts for Multi Series Charts

Hi All,
Can we apply alerts for multi series charts?
I am able to set the alerts if i have 1 series where as the alerts are grayed out if i create more than 1 series.
Is this design behaviour??
Is there any work around??

Combo chart - different colors for Bar/Line

Hi,
In a combo chart is it possible to have different colors for bar and lines......................In our report- combo charts the intersection of bar/line is NOT visible beacuse of same color.

Yes, I create a formula row with a zero in the first column. The row should be hiden. This has to be at the top of the grid and include the row in your data ranges for the chart.

How to configure axis value range in combo charts

I am trying to create a combo chart, where one value axis contains values in the millions, and the other contains values less than ten. When I create the chart, it appears that I can only define one range that applies for both axis.
Does someone know how I can configure the range for the second axis?

Hi Dwayne,
if you need to value axis, then you need two charts.
You can create a second chart and make it transparent, then overlay the first chart. Maybe it works, but I'm not sure, because I didn't try it. But I suggest you to use two charts if the values are so drastically different.

BAM Combo Chart showing data in 2 graphics for the same data object

Hi all,
I’m trying to show 2 views of the same data object in a Combo Chart (e.g. orders created today as a bar chart and orders created yesterday as line chart grouping by hour of day). It was pretty easy adding the same data object twice but the data type of the horizontal axis seems to be lost and it gets sorted as a simple string, leading to strange grouping of the hours with 05:00 representing 5 AM sided with 05:00 representing 5 PM. Also, I’m not able to format such fields using the format values tab.
Is using the same data object two times in the same report an unsupported scenario?

why you want to add the same data object twice? Your use case can be achieved with single data object only.
1) Create combo chart and select the data object.
2) On "Choose data fields" page group by datetime field.
3) You will see UI changed to 3 sections - left one with "Group by" section, middle with "Chart values" and right one with "Time Groups".
4) In the right "Time Group" section, uncheck checkbox for continuous time series. Time Unit as hour, quantity as 1.
5) In middle "Chart values" section ,select the fields that you want to display as chart values and respective chart types , in your case orders created today as a bar chart and orders created yesterday as line chart.
5) Click Next and Finish.
6) Then you can go to Value format tab, and change the format for the datetime field as timeunit and required format.

Problem in Combo chart columns and line

I select chart type is combo in my vc model and select data series is columns and line.
I define 5 series in the chart.
once i deployed the model the output shows the columns are overwrite in stacked position.
eg:
series 1: 10%
series 2: 20%
series 3: 45%
series 4: 25%
series 5 is line type
but in the chart the only one column will display,its top value 45% and itself shows 10% and 20% in different color.Don't show the 25% value on that column.
How to display the chart columns in clustered type in combo chart.

Hi
When you select 'Combo Chart' you will not get options for 'Stacked or Clustered'. By default it will be 'Stacked' chart only. Combo charts are generally used for less number of data series. Normally these charts are best suitable for 2 Data series only.
Still in your case is there any reason to use 'Combo Chart'? Consider following points -
1. If you want to use this type of chart then selction of 'Columns + Line' will be difficult because it will treat only 'Last Data Series' as line & all others will be columns & what you said problem will appear.
2. Instead of that select 'Column + Lines', so that only first 'Data series' will be column & rest all will be 'Lines'. So that you will get better visibility in that graph.

Overlapping of data series in Combo Chart

Hi All,
We are working on VC7.0
I have three data series elements and I would like to display them in a combo chart with two columns and a line .
( 1.Actual Gross Turnover - Column
2. Planned Gross Turnover - Column
3. Actual Gross Turnover prior Year - Line )
I tried with different options present there in Configure Element , but the two columns overlap with each other i.e the highest column is overriding the lower column.
Can someone help me out in this ?

yes, i am quite sure that bars are overlapping and checked with the 3 options you have mentioned.
3. I have tried streching the graph horizontally but still the same display.
2. I did moved to mouse to the edge points of bar .. it only mentioned one data series instead of two
1. See if the db column contains NON-ZERO values ? ..
I am not sure of it but when deploying the model in VC , i got a warning message saying " Zero fill is checked without Max length in field "Gross Turnover Actual " of entity " query name "
Let me know, how this efffects the display and what do i need to do to resolve the issue .

Alert colors in Waterfall chart on iPad

Hi,
We have created a Web Intelligence Report with Waterfall charts and given colors for +ve and -ve values as green and red.
Report is coming well on desktop, but on iPad alert colors are not visible.
Any idea, how we can achieve this for iPad.

Drill Down From Combo -- Chart -- Chart

I Have a Combo box with Company and when I select Company it should display me the Pending count by ecah month in a chart..
Till now I achieved..But after that can I drill down further to see Pending Status,Size ,age!!

I arranged my chart.. I used the filter component and I am getting the policy count for each month according to distribution channel and Company!!
Channel---->Company>Jan-->Feb--->     Mar
     IMO-->     AIL>     100->     40--->     70
     IMO-->     AML-->     200->     500--->     80
The secound chart should display following
Channel-->     Company->     Case Size>     Jan->Feb>Mar
     IMO----->AIL->     0-10k>20-->30>30
     IMO-->AIL->     11k -50 k>     80--->10>70
     IMO----->AML-->     0-10k--->     50->100-->40
     IMO----->AML-->     11k -50 k>150->400->40
================================================
If I click Policy count of IMO,AIL in January which is 100 it should give following information in drill down
Casesize-->Jan
0-10k------> 20
11k-50K--->80
==============================
Please let me know How will I map it!!

Controlling lines vs bars in a line-bar combo chart

I created a pivot view with 3 measures, and then selected the line bar chart type.
The first 2 measures show up as bars. The 3rd shows as a line on secondary (right hand dise) axis.
Is there any way to make the 2nd measure also appear as a line on the secondary axis, instead of a bar on the primary axis?

Line-Bar issue on 11g is not a bug. It’s part of the upgrade - Stacked line-bar graphs in which 2 or more measures are shown as lines on the same axis and are not stacked in 10g are stacked in 11g.

Combo chart in WAD

I have two queries one is displaying Current week Sales and the other one is displaying Previous week sales.I have assigned the column Chart for Current week query in WAD,i want to display the last week data also in the same chart as a Line graph on top of the Column chart .is that possible?

You have to include both these values in single query. KF1 - Current Wk value & KF2 - last Wk value.
Then yu can assign diff. types for thee series.

Combo Chart with Static Table

Hi Experts! I have one assignment to do...I have a bar line chart with departments on axis X and a static table with departments on rows....and one measure. Chart and static table has the same info. My static table has "Enable column sorting in Dashboards" YES, and a Rows per Page 10.
In dashboard I can click on column department to order A-Z or Z-A and my chart also changes, but in my chart I can see ALL departments (not 10) :S. Is possible to see in chart the same departments that I see in static table???

this can be done with some work in pivot table. in pivot table use chart + table for your report. then implement pivot table pagination. that allows you to select page and based on selection chart and table changes. but enable sorting on dashboard wont work in pivot tables.
