Alerts not working with direct agent?

I'm aware of
this issue with the SQL Intelligence pack and direct agents, which I'm also experiencing, but Alerts don't seem to be working with my direct agents either. I switched the handful of servers I had reporting under the old gateway model to direct agents
last week, and added 6 new direct agent servers, I know some of those new servers have the same hotfix alerts that I'm seeing from the old ones, but I have not received a new alert since 11/26 when I switched everything over, and when I login to the portal
and view alerts I receive:
"No gateway or SCOM management group detected. Op Insights required a gateway or SCOM management group in order to analyze data and generate alerts"
Followed by a link to the deployment guide, when I read the deployment guide for direct agents there no mention of an SCOM deployment requirement.
Any suggestions? Is anyone who is configured with direct agents successfully receiving alerts?

Indeed. Configuration Assessment 'alerts' are disabled with Direct Agent. Please look at the answer given here
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/azure/en-US/8241918e-41f4-4429-9a5f-962e96908878/repeated-closed-alerts-emails-on-closed-alerts-in-opsinsight?forum=opinsights with regards to those 'alerts': we are moving away from 'alerts' for configuration-related
issues, and replacing them with those 'Recomendations' shapes (like the SQL Assessment). Those weren't 'alerts' in the first place - those were *proactive* recommendations. For new accounts with only Direct agents, those are not even produced and those screens
are unavailable. We think of 'Alerts' in the SCOM sense: server is down, needs immediate action even at 2am.
In this sense, we think of 'Alerts' as something that should be user-defined and based on searches where you can determine what to alert for, against any type of data - see this idea here

  • SSIS configuration Not Working With SQL agent Job

    Hi,
I have created an SSIS configuration table in SQL Server where in I store all connection strings. This configuration is enabled within my package. To make even the DB where I store connection strings, I have an environment varibale. I thus have 2 configurations
    in the following order:
    1. env variable: Points to the DB where in my connection strings would be stored.
    2. SQl Server configuration:where I actually, store the connection strings.
However , when I try to execute the package, it seems the SQL Server agent does not read from the Configuration tables at all.
Can someone let me know how to enable this from within SQL Server agent? I do not store connection strings in a file, so I can't add any files within the configuration tab.
Please let me know as to how do I enable configurations stored within SQL tables from SQL Server Agent jobs. I am using SQL Server 2008.

    Todd,
Yes, I have enabled the configurations from within the package. When I open the package from BIDS, I do see information stating that package is trying to read from the environment variable and from the SQL Server.
However, when the same package is used in a SQL Agent job, in the data sources tab, I see the connection string which I have set manually within the package, not the one which it should read from the Configuration table.
E.g. in the design of my package, I am using Server A with Credential1, but within the Configuration table, against the same Connection, for the Same Server , I have stored Credential2.
It should read the Credential2, as I have configuration enabled (as I can also verify from the messages within BIDS, upon opening the pacakge).
However, it just reads the same Credential1, which has been supplied at design time.
Not sure how can I access the Configuration stored within the SQL table from a SQL Agent job

  • Database Mail not working with SQL Server Agent

I'm running SQL Server 2005 Standard edition 64 bit with SP2 on a 64 bit machine.
Database mail does not work with SQL Server Agent.  When I configure SQL Server Agent to use database mail the test email button is greyed out and inactive therefore I cannot send emails using operators or for jub success failure etc.
I've read that there was supposed to be a fix for this with SP1 but I have SP2 and still receive the same problem.  Please can somebody help as I do not wish to use SQL Mail as a work around due to this becomming redundant in future versions of SQL Server.
    Kind Regards

    The problems solved
    steps:
1)we create a mail profile at at Managment->Database Mail ,of SQL Managment
2)we set this account as "default" at Managment->Database Mail -> Configure Database Mail -> Manage profile security
3)At tab "Alert System" of SQL Server Agent properties , we check the "Enable mail profile" , Mail System=Database Mail, Mail profile = "the profile we already create"
4)we create a new operator at "Operators" of sql agent, where at "notification options" -> "Email name" we put the mail where we want to sent the agent the mails at failured job
5)We go at a specific job, at tab "Notifications" ,we check the "email" check box and then we choose the operator we just create, at the text box next to check box.
I hope not to forget something
Thank You all for the help

Do you have some idea ....
    Bye.

    I have done the following:
    Downloaded the patched hal version.
used makepkg in /abs/local/trunk/ to create a pkg for pacman
used sudo pacman -U pkgname to install it.
used sudo nano /etc/hal/fdi/policy/preferences.fdi to create the fdi file with the following content:
saved the file and removed my ntfs entryes from fstab and rebooted. and still there is no automount off ntfs partitions.
    have i done something wrong?
    br fjodork
WARNING: what follows is a guide of what did work for me, I'm still in an early stage of learning linux, so please correct me if anything of what follows is wrong/dangerous/stupid. As I said, this worked for me, it's not pretty, since I was learning each step on the fly and I'm sure there are better ways to do this.
So fjodork, you seem to have done the the necessary steps, though i couldn't get it to work until i first removed hal without dependencies
    pacman -Rd hal
it will give you some warning about the dependencies, ignore  it since we are reinstalling hal in a few steps.
First i tried to follow Raymano's link, obviously it showed me nothing in the browser so I thought it might be a broken link.
So I downloaded the source tarball from here http://hal.freedesktop.org/releases/hal-0.5.10.tar.gz
unpacked it changed the /tools/hal-storage-mount.c as per Milfadoodle's instructions.
at first I tried to compile directly from source, the process would finish without a glitch though after reboot nothing changed, as if hal weren't
installed, i guess there were issues with paths. anyway read on
Then repacked the source in tarball, copied it to /var/abs/extra/system/hal and modified the PKGBUILD as follows
    makedepends=('pkgconfig' 'gperf')
    options=('!libtool')
    install=hal.install
source=(${pkgname}-${pkgver}.tar.gz #removed url so makepkg looks in the current directory for the tarball
        hal
        hal-policy.patch
        cryptsetup_location.patch
        hal-0.5.9-hide-diagnostic.patch
        ntfs3g-valid-options.patch)
    md5sums=('6641c30a27c00485c6accac5110ff911' # replace with md5sum of your package's sourceball (run md5sum filename)
             '882f67668cb14a0a9e4a27ef22278027'
             '5ba8b610aa9763a5f42b9f7cbd7a86ad'
then makepkg (i had to add --asroot, don't ask why
    and finally pacman -U hal-0.5.10-1-i686.pkg
another reboot and everything worked without a glitch!:D (yeah i know i still haven't got rid of the reboot mentality )
I have also put the policy files as per the wiki instructions.
PS: I know this is a dirty way to getting things done but as i said, I'm just starting
If anyone could comment/correct/explain this post I'd be more than happy, the automount issue was bothering me for about a month now (you'll say why do I need ntfs in the first place? well, I only recently switched for Linux as my primary OS, these are some relics of the M$ era

  • USB Ultranav keyboard does not work with Windows 7

Hi, I recently installed Windows 7 to my Dell Latitude XT tablet and was disappointed to learn that my USB Ultranav Keyboard only works as a keyboard and not a 'mouse'; that is, the ultranav devices (touchpad, buttons, and trackpoint) do not work.  I have not had problems with the keyboard functioning in XP or Vista, so it was surprising to find that it will not work with W7.
I thought all was going well when W7 recognized the Ultranav keyboard when I plugged-in the device, but all did not go as planned.  I let W7 find the drivers through Windows update, but then once they didn't prove to work, I followed W7's directions of reinstalling the drivers in its version of 'Compatability Mode', but that still didn't prove to work.  I would really appreciate any insights into this problem as it is one of my only (current) hesitancies about using W7.
Thank you for your time and attention to my inquiry.
    Cheers,
    Tsugazi

Hi, strangely enough, I got it to work.  Here's the what I did differently (for those with a similar problem):
After installing W7, I plugged in my keyboard and let Windows find the drivers.  When this didn't provide functionality of the ultranav devices, I tried installing the Ultranav drivers, and when Windows said there was a compatability problem, I then opted to let Windows re-install the Ultranav driver.  Unfortunately, this didn't provide functionality either.
Jump ahead 12 hrs and re-install of W7 (for other reasons).  This time out, I installed the Ultranav driver, THEN plugged in my keyboard.  Everything works now!  I don't know that this sequence will work for everyone, but it did for me.
    Thanks for your comments.
    Cheers,
    tsugazi

  • CISCO Box not working with Infrared Remove Control Repeater

There was an Infrared Remote Control Repeater set-up in my newly purchased house.  It works for my LG DVD player, but does not work with my CISCO CHS435HDB box.  Are there any work around for this?  Should I change to a different box?

If you are using a repeater, make sure the piece that is relaying the IR signal is pointing directly the font of the Cisco box and nothing is plugged into the IR input port in the back of the box.

  • MBP CD2 DVI to VGA not working with projector

I am having issues getting the MBP to recognize a DELL 2300 projector through a DVI to VGA apple cable.
A few months ago there were posts about this, but no solutions. The problem seems to be with the 'INTEL' side of things, as the same projector with the same DVI to VGA apple cable works on an older G4 tower running 10.4.9. The projector also works on an old G4 iBook with it's version of a VGA adapter. To make things more confusing, a DVI to Video apple cable works with the DELL 2300 on my new MBP C2D-but produces a terrible quality picture. Mysteriously, my previous 1st generation MBP CD worked with the DELL 2300 via a DVI to VGA apple cable (but I'm not sure which OS was out at the time 10.4.8?)
My new MBP CD2 definately recognizes the projector through the DVI to VGA adapter, but the projector doesn't recognize the video signal from the computer. It is DEFINATELY the MBP (or universal drivers), as I have checked the DVI to VGA dongle (works), have checked the projector (works with an ibook running 10.4.8 OSX with VGA dongle), have changed resolution settings before and after connecting, have restarted computer, have tested various orders of connecting the projector and cables. STINK! (I also have TWO DVI to VGA adapters, so it is not a bad adapter). I have also played with exchanging various plist files from older universal versions of 10.4.8 that worked with the projector-no help.
As I stated, the projector will work (in horrible quality) with a DVI to Video dongle. Why it will not work with the DVI to VGA dongle is a mystery and annoying I would hope that a newer MBP CD2 would be plug and play (like my previous MBP CD and an old G4 tower and an old iBook G4...but no).
Any ideas, any help, any answers?

Here are the actors in our play today
    1. MacBookPro A. (my system a CD2 2.16 with OSX 10.4.9)
    2. MacBookPro B. (my friends system a CD2 2.16 with OSX 10.4.9)
    3. an iBook (my friends 1.07 GHz G4 with 10.4.8 and a VGA adapter)
    4. DELL 2300 MP projector
Plugged in DVI to VGA adapter to the virgin MacBookPro B (never had the projector plugged into it before) Dell projector shows that it recognizes an analog RGB 800X600 signal from MBP B. It projects a beautiful desktop. All is well for a moment.
In Display preferences we see for the MBP B
Color LCD, Display: 800X600 stretched, Colors: Millions, Refresh Rate: N/A
    VGA Display
Now, I unplug the DVI to VGA adapter and naturally MBP B readjusts to it's native resolution. Great.
Now I immediately plug back in the DVI to VGA adapter. The computer and the projector searches for signal with none found, while the computer shows no attempt at an automatic readjustment as above (800X600 stretched).
I try the 'detect display' option. It causes computer to stall for a second (as it searches) but it does not detect projector and does not readjust it's own resolution to 800X600 stretched as it did initially. F7 key does nothing.
    This is a problem!
So, I shut down the projector. I unplug the projector's power source and waited 20 seconds. plugged it back in, started projector back up.
    I shut down/restarted the MBP B.
I plug back in the DVI to VGA adapter into the MBP B. The MBP B screen flashes to all blue, but does not automatically change to 800X600 stretched (remains at native resolution and does not recognize an external monitor/projector)
    Enter the iBook!
I plug the iBook's VGA adapter into the projector. The projector shows that it recognizes an analog RGB 1024X768 60Hz signal and projects desktop screen immediately. Plug and play!
    iBook display prefs reveal:
Color LCD, 1024X768, colors: Millions, Refresh rate: N/A
    Color tab: Generic RGB Profile
    VGA display, 1024X768, colors: Millions,
Now. I unplug adapter from iBook, iBook readjusts to native display
plugged back in adapter to iBook, immediately recognizes and displays projected desktop.
    Scene 2: The FREAKY thing!
Now, I immediately (after unplugging the adapter from the iBook) change adapters to the DVI to VGA adapter and plug the projector into the MacBookPro B, whallla! Back in business. (computer screen adjusted to 800X600, and projector recognized signal).
Now, what about my computer? I unplug from MBP B and plug into MacBookPro A, and NOTHING...the computer doesn't automatically adjust to a new resolution, and the projector doesn't recognize any signal from the computer.
Ahhhh Freak out! Now, I plugged adapter back into MacBookPro B, and now back to NOTHING. MBP B no longer recognizes projector or readjusts it's resolution. Was something somehow corrupted?
Now, I plugged iBook VGA adapter back in, and iBook once again with it's awesome G4 technology (or dated video drivers or something) recognizes the projector in an instant and projects the screen.
Now, logically I try again to immediately unplug the adapter from the iBook and switch adapters and plug back into MacBookPro B-it worked once right? But, sorry, NOT twice. The mystery deepens.
Well, I think, maybe it is because I didn't restart MacBookPro B before attempting the switcharoo from iBook to MacBookPro.
So, I plug back into iBook-projector. And the iBook works immediately again.
I restart MacBookPro B and plug in to the freshly restarted MBP B...HOUSTON WE HAVE LIFT OFF! The MacBookPro B recognizes the projector and the projector kindly displays the desktop.
Now what about MacBookPro A...Last time, when I did the switcharoo, it corrupted something to cause the MBP B not to work. Let's try it again. Will this plug-unplug-restart-switch adapters-immediatly plug in technique work...let's see. I restart MBP A, and plug DVI to VGA adapter in. Sorry. Same ol' no signals recognized. MacBookPro A not auto readjusting resolution, and does not list any projector in display prefs.
Let's get crazy and immediately plug the adapter into the MacBookPro B...it works-oh so logical...NOT! Why wasn't it corrupted this time by MBP A? MacBookPro B readjusts its screen to 800X600 stretched and projector immediately recognizes and projects desktop.
Now lets see if I can break it again as before. I unplug it from MacBookPro B and back into MacBook Pro B, knowing that this caused it to stop working previously. And...it still works-WHAT? I do it a third time. It still works on MacBookPro B.
    So,
I plug it back into MacBookPro A...still nothing. Back to MacbookPro B works like a charm. This time it struggles a bit showing that initially it sees a signal from MacBookPro B of 1192X900 (i Think), then the MacBookPro B switches automatically to 800X600 and the projector works.
Wait..I see something amiss! I see in my MBP A menu bar an icon for Labtick which MBP B does not have. I shut down Labtick, plug back in the DVI to VGA adapter and 'Boom' the projector is recognized.
I unplug DVI to VGA adapter and plug back in to MBP A and 'Boom' the projector is recognized again...no it couldn't be!
Well, it is possible it couldn't be because, I shut down the projector, unplug it's power source, plug it back in. I plug it back into the recently working MBP A with Labtick not running, and sorry folks, now the projector doesn't work again. The MBP A does not readjust it's resolution, nor recognize a projector and the projector doesn't recognize the MBP A.
Let's try the projector in MBP B....same deal. Now it doesn't work. Same symptoms of MBP A.
Back to the good ol' iBook. Of course it works.
Now switching over directly to a restarted MBP B. -DOESN'T WORK (as it did using this technique previously)
Now switching over to MBP A- DOESN'T WORK.
As you can see, it is hard even with multiple computers to find a series of doing things that consistently makes the projector work.
Any thoughts, ideas, ways to diagnose? Thanks!

I had a repair done on my MacBook Pro and had to have a new hard drive installed. The Apple Auth Repair Shop then updated the OS from 10.6.8 to 10.7.5. Now my iPhoto v 9.2.3 will not open and it sounds like it will not work with this OS. Can you please advise?

You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Adobe Flash Player does not work with Safari. What can I do?

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro, Retina, 15 inch, late 2013,  2 GHz Intel Core i7, using OS X 10.9.4. I have installed Adobe Flash Player. In my System Preference, in the advanced settings, it is set to install updates also tells me that I have the NPAPI Plug-in (version 14.0.0.145) installed but not the PPAPI Plug-in. Is this the reason why it does not work with Safari (keeps telling me to download the app, which I did but still does not work)? Is there any way I could fix the problem? Please, help.
    Thanks.

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • FaceTime HD Camera (Display) not working with most applications

The Thunderbolt 27" LED Cinema displays built in camera is not working with most applications. The camera does not work with FaceTime, iChat, Skype and Google Talk. FaceTime says "There is no connected camera", even though there is. Weird thing is it DOES work at http://www.testmycam.com. I can't get it to work with any other flash based apps, just testmycam.com.
My MacBook Pro 17" (late 2011) built in camera works perfectly with everything.
    Things I've already tried:
    - Shutdown
    - Restart
    - disconnect/reconnect
    - removing power from display
lame, lame, lame. $1k monitor, flippin' webcam doesn't work.

I think I have found the problem. I decided to go page by page through the forums and found this argument when running a Java program through the console:
    -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true
    So it would be like:
    java -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true SwingSet2
That works flawlessly, so it has to do with direct draw (So it's either DirectX or my video card drivers which are up to date).

in context not working with Mac Safari 6.04, you can edit text, and save and publish but editable marquees are no longer visible especially the repeating elements?
