Alerts shwoing in UWL across Landscape

Hello,
I have created an 'Alert Category' and I am able to successfully trigger an 'Alert' using an 'Exceptional Report' in 'Infromation Broadcasting'. And this Alert is showing up in my UWL.
Now my issue is: This Alert in my UWL is showing up in all DEV, QA and PROD systems. Is it how it is supposed to work? Is there any thing else that I should be doing so that Alerts that are triggered in PROD to be seen in PROD?
Please let me know if I need to explain this in more detail.

Hi Amber,
After creating the System Alias you have to perform one more step of User Mapping.
Please go to the <b>User Administration -> User Mapping</b>. In the list of all System find the system you have created by its alias Name.
Then find the required user in the list. When you will get the UserID of the user click Edit. There set the user name and the password for mapping this user.
This will map the user with the System you have created.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Note that you also have to...
1. show ruler (Format > Text > Show ruler)
2. select all of the text on the page (my first attempt only set tabs on the first line)
3. then you can set the tabs
Is there a way to set the position without the mouse? It's a bit hard for me to drag the mouse to an exact hundredth of an inch.
However, it looks like I won't need to do it again. After setting them, I created a new file and my new tabs are already there.

Copy APO Macro ACROSS Landscape..

I have a typical scenario, where in I need to write a Macro in APO-DP which is similar to thae one I did in one of the previous APO-DP projects.The Names of the key figures etc are same.. The need for modification would be very little. Subject to my previous customer's clearance, is it possible to port it from the previous landscape to the development server of the New Landscape at New Customer's site? In both places the version is SCM 5.0.
ps: The text version doesn't have the Headers / Symbols and the HTML version of the Maco , which I am able to save, could not be pasted as active version in the workbench of different landscape.
Pl let me know , whether there is any mechanism... Rgds.. TRR

ask you basis guys to set a transport link from system1 to system 2
create a new planning area and under it copy a planning book with the macros
create a transport object for the planning book with the planning area and move it into system 2
once the transport reaches, just "import" the macros from the new planning book to the book you want to
close the link between system1 and 2
I assume your old customer knows you are porting his macros and hence the basis guys will open the connection

In InfoSpoke logical path made generic across landscapes

Hi all,
I am creating an InfoSpoke in 3.5, wherein I am using logical file/Path to store the file generated on application server.
My path is something like this
/interface/CCD/BWD/outbound.. (Where BWD is development server)
When I will transport this to quality (Say BWQ), i want my path to be
/interface/CCQ/BWQ/outbound..
I am using <SYSID> variable to replace BWD part of the path. When it will be transported in Quality variable <SYSID> will contain BWQ.
My question is what system variable i can use to replace CCD in the path? Or how can I create a new variable to replace CCD in path so that in Quality it will be CCQ?

I never used profile parameters.

It explains that no server should have to be restarted (as you also expect), so i don't get the problem.

Transports across landscapes not physically connected

Hi All.
Our Dev cannot access the Q/P systems due to network boundary constraints.
Currently we are not using SM CHARM (Change Req Mgmt). So we send the Transport files manually to the Q system via a disc/mail and then import it there.
We are not well aware of CHARM as have never used it before. Wanted to know if it could help us in any way in our context.

Yes, the functionnality you're talking about is the Transport of Copies (called TOC).
The general principle is to transfer the content of an open TR (modifiable) to QA system and to make QA test in advance.
With TOC you can :
Anticipate the change and make earlier QA tests
Make as a selection of the change you want to go further by using a correct TR's task management
Schedule automatic import in QA system to provide regular delivery of changes made in DEV system (advanced)

Communication channel alerts

Hi,
We have a ccms system. I would like to know for a specific communication channel whther any alerts has been setup.
I assume normally alerts would be generic across any communication channel errors.
If yes, please guide where to check and the necessary steps.

These are production ones and any alerts raised would be going to third party support group.
We wanted to see whether any alerts has been setup for this channel and check whether the alerts are reaching them.

CCMS MAIL ALERT FOR STANDBY DATABASE

Hi All,
I've configured the CCMS alert monitor in my entire landscape & I'm successfully getting alert mails from CCMS alert monitor (T-codes involved are RZ20 & RZ21).
I want to activate the same functionality for my standby database. At least I want to configure the CCMS alert monitor for File System Utilization in my Standby database.
Can any one guide me about the configuration setting for file system utilization in Standby Database through CCMS monitor.

Highlevel steps:
- Install the sapccm4x agent on the standby host
- Register the agent to the CEN
- In the agent home directory create a file like oscolfilter.ini In this file enter the filesystems you would like to monitor
- Add the oscolfilter.ini file into the sapccmsr.ini file This is also located in the agent home directory
- Create a MTE for filesystem monitoring in your CEN. Add the relevant monitor attribute there.
- Assign autoreaction via RZ21

Dual Landscape - Maintenance

Hi Experts,
We have dual landscape being maintained in a complex environment.
Landscape1:
Dev1 --> QA1 ---> PROD
Landscape2:
Dev2 --> QA2 ---> UA1 ---> PROD
Landscape1 is being used for break-fix environment. Landscape2 is being used for major release. So it is necessary that both the landscapes should be in sync all the time. There are multiple teams working in both the environments. Each break fix being pushed into prod, is being syncd (manual development) in Dev2 and pushed to QA2 --> UA1. For go live of every release, prod is being copied onto Dev1 & QA1 or transports are imported into dev1 & Qa1.
Is there a way to copy objects across landscapes in BW? Any suggestions on how to maintain sanity in this kind of scenario would be apprectiated!

Landscape1 : Dev1-> Quality1-> PROD
Landscape2: Dev2->Quality2->UA2->PROD
Landscape2 is maintained at a higher support pack than landscape1.
Are there any tools/ recommendations / process which can be used for dual landscape scenarios would be appreciated.
Existing process:-
1) break fix / enhancement work move from landscape1. Frequency daily to weekly worked by multiple teams.
2) Major release like implementing a new module move from landscape 2 to prod. Frequency -> 6 - 12 months.

HANA DB - what if db goes down, how to monitor/alerting using Studio

I have configured mail alerts for my hana db instance (for certain / all events).
If I stop my db (instance) I still do not get any alerts because I assume there are no specific events to be set for monitoring/alerting purpose in case hana db itself goes down. Is this a normal behavior in HANA as the db itself has monitoring/alerting capability? If yes then how will a DBA get to know if the db goes down.
Please correct me if I am missing something while setting alerting mechanism.

Also would want to know if there are issues with the latest rev. SP7 w.r.t alerts and hdbstatisticsserver service under Landscape?
I have observed the hdbstatisticsserver (and daemon.ini) doesnt come up on its own after db instance is restarted.
FYI: I have HANA Instance on Linux VM (sandbox).

No alerts from AAE after configured Solman as central Alert Server

Hi all,
i have configured a Solution Manager system to act as a central alert servcer for our PI landscape. We are using PI 7.1 ehp 1.
I changed the required nodes in the exchange profile and created the PIRWBUSER in the solution manager system. After restarting the J2EE engine of the PI system the alert rules are no created on solutiuon manager and alerts which occur in the integration engine are raised in the solution manager system. However alerts which are raised in the AAE are not forwarded.
When i check the application log in NWA I see the follwing error, whenever an alert should have been raised:
No central monitor defined in RWB.
Thrown:
com.sap.aii.rwb.exceptions.JaycoRequestFailedException: Neither messager server nor application server are defined for system SMB
at com.sap.aii.rwb.core.R3System.getITSUrl(R3System.java:1090)
at com.sap.aii.rwb.core.R3System.getITSUrl(R3System.java:1558)
In ABAP the connection CentralMonitoringServer-XIAlerts is configured correctly as alerts from the IE engine are working. I suppose I missed some configuration in the java stack. Can somebody help me on that?

thanks for your replay. Yes I know this note. But it does not solve my problem. I increased the trace level of the location where the alerts are raised in adapter engine. I get the following new entry:

UWL within CE 7.1 SR3

But neither at NWA nor at System Conf. Role there are no UWL Conf. Wizards and menus exists.

User Valid to changed while assigning role to a set of users in SU10

Hi All
I had a task of assigning a role to a set of users in various systems across landscape. I find that some of the users had their valid to date (logon data tab) changed to their last login date. Moreover, in every system; the list of user ids who had this issue of valid to date changed to their last logon date is different. It seems it occurs randomly in various system but out of every 10-11 users 3-4 get affected with this issue. Has anyone faced such an issue before and how could we resolve this issue.

Configuration Dataset = 90% of Data Warehouse - Event Errors 31552

I'm currently running SCOM 2012 R2 and have recently had some problems with the Data Warehouse Data Sync. We currently have around 800 servers in our production environment, no Network devices, we use Orchestrator for integration with our call logging system
and I believe this is where our problems started. We had a runbook which got itself into a loop and was constantly updating alerts, it also contributed to a large number of state changes. We have resolved that problem now, but I started to receive alerts
saying SCOM couldn't sync Alert data under event 31552.
Failed to store data in the Data Warehouse.
Exception 'SqlException': Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
One or more workflows were affected by this.

I have been researching problems with syncing alert data, and came across the queries to manually do the database maintenance, I ran that on the alert instance and it took around 16.5 hours to run on the first night, then it ran fast (2 seconds) most the
day, when it got to about the same time the next day it took another 9.5 hours to run so I'm not sure why that's giving different results.
Initially it appeared all of our datasets were out of sync, after the first night all appear to be in sync bar the Hourly Performance Dataset. Which still has around 161 OutstandingAggregations. When I run the Maintenance on Performance it doesn't appear
to be fixing it. (It runs in about 2 seconds, successfully)
I recently ran DWDatarp on the database to see how the Alert Dataset was looking and to my surprise I found that the Configuration Dataset has blown out to take up 90% of the DataWarehouse, table below. Does anyone have any ideas on what might cause this
or how I can fix it?

I have one other 31553 event showing up on one of the Management servers as follows,

object 'dbo.ManagedEntityProperty'. The duplicate key value is (263, Aug 26 2013 6:02AM).

which from my readings means I'm likely in for an MS support call.. :( But I just wanted to see if anyone has any information about the Configuration Dataset as I couldn't find much in my searching.

Hi All,
The results of the MS Support call were as follows, I don't recommend doing these steps without an MS Support case, any damage you do is your own fault these particular actions resolved our problems:
1. Regarding the Configuration Dataset being so large.
This was caused by our AlertStage table which was also very large, we truncated the alert stage table and ran the maintenance tasks manually to clear this up. As I didn't require any of the alerts sitting in the AlertStage table we simply did a straight truncation
of the the table. The document linked by MHG above shows the process of doing a backup & restore on the AlertStage Table if you need to. It took a few days of running maintenance tasks to resolve this problem properly. As soon as the truncation had taken
place the Confirguration Dataset dropped in size to less than a gig.
2. Error 31553 Duplicate Key Error
This was a problem with duplicate keys in the ManagedEntityProperty table. We identified rows which had duplicate information, which could be gathered from the Events being logged on the Management Server.
We then updated a few of these rows to have a slightly different time to what was already in the Database. We noticed that the event kept logging with a different row each time we updated the previous row. We ran the following query to find out how many rows
actually had duplicates:
select * from ManagedEntityProperty mep
inner join ManagedEntity me on mep.ManagedEntityRowId = me.ManagedEntityRowId
inner join ManagedEntityStage mes on mes.ManagedEntityGuid = me.ManagedEntityGuid
where mes.ChangeDateTime = mep.FromDateTime
order by mep.ManagedEntityRowId
This returned over 25,000 duplicate rows. Rather than replace the times for all the rows, we removed all duplicates from the database. (Best to have MS Check this one out for you if you have a lot of data)
After doing this there was a lot of data moving around the Staging tables (I assume from the management server that couldn't communicate properly), so once again we truncated the AlertStage table as it wasn't keeping up. Once this was done everything worked
properly and all the queues stayed under control.
To confirm things had been cleared up we checked the AlertStage table had no entries and the ManagedEntityStage table had no entries. We also confirmed that the 31553 events stopped on the Management server.
Hopefully this can help someone, or provide a bit more information on these problems.
