Alias 2 sudden vibration pattern change

My alias 2 has typically given me three medium length vibrations for a text or anything.  As of today, it now vibrates for 5 short bursts followed by a long burst ranging from 15 to 25 seconds upon receiving a text.  What to cause this? How to fix it?
Chiko

I understand your concern Chikokishi!  I'm not sure what is causing this, however you and I can fix this together!  Try selecting a ringtone and then change the setting back to vibrate and remove the back battery door and testing upon powering up.  If unsuccessful I suggest backing up and completing a factory reset here http://bit.ly/SZJRF7 .  Please share your test results.  Thank you!

iPad hacked from Words With Friends. Game suddenly appears in control.  Not responsive. Suddenly my tiles change, then the points quadruple. I deleted the app, but would really like to continue playing with my family.  How can I get rid of this hacker and or virus on my iPad?

Since it has happened previously, it is likely someone you know or who has access to your systems, or has access to recovery information with that game vendor. I seem to recall that vendor being called out for account security issues in the past, but can't say for sure.On the other hand, the symptoms you describe do not necessarily mean you have been "hacked", could be just that something is amiss with the app.
You may wish to reach to the app vendor and see what sort of support it offers.

  • Why did my iPhone (not PCs) suddenly require a change in POP/SMTP server spec's for one (only one) of my email accounts?

Hello! Why has my (iPhone only) POP and SMTP settings suddenly changed for one (oddly only one) of my email sub-accounts? -It changed from "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" to pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net, respectively, ALL BY ITSELF!?
For example, I have had two verizon email accounts on my iPhone for some time, each originally set up with the default "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" for receive/sending email.  Suddenly, without my changing anything in my settings, my "[account-1]" account would not work via iPhone (yet still worked via desktop PC)- it was not until I completely deleted the "[account-1]" account from my iPhone and recreated it that it would work, HOWEVER, iPhone AUTO-creation process for this POP account settings now picked up "pop.verizon.net" and smtp.verizon.net" instead of the previous standard "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" settings.  (Yet "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" is still necessary for all other verizon accounts, as well as for my "[account-1]" on desktop PCs)  Has someone, for example, affected (illegally...?) a redirection of my "[account-1]" mail through other servers...?  NOTE: ALL my acocunts have been using the incoming 995 and outgoing 465 ports for some time without problems until this issue started a couple days ago.

  • Sudden color temperature change when opening some programs

I got this sudden color temperature change when I open Photoshop, Maya and a few other games. When I quit the programs the color goes back to normal. It first started happening once a while and I didn't really notice, but now it's become a regular thing... I think it begun after upgrading to Yosemite. It's quite uncomfortable to my eyes but it's bearable. I'm just concerned whether it's a sign for something worse. Please please help!
I took photos of before and after the color change, basically it becomes much brighter and more blueish.

Did you ever find a solution for this? It recently started for me too, and it's already getting on my nerves First I thought it was because of dynamically switching the graphics card but unfortunately it happens when I use it on an external monitor only (and thus is locked to the Radeon card)...

  • Stopping vibrating after opening up a message before the vibration pattern finishes?

I just upgraded to ios6, mostly because I knew that there were custom vibration patterns on it for text messages and other alerts.  However something that's really annoying me is that whenever I receieve a message, I can't find a way to cancel the vibration so that I don't have to hear the whole thing.  For example, say my vibration lasts 10 seconds and I hear my phone go off and open the message in 5 seconds, my phone will keep vibrating for 5 more seconds to complete the pattern, despite the fact that I have already read the alert, clicked the sleep button, and swiped to open my phone.
I know on other phones you simply had to hit the sleep button or whatever it's called to stop the vibration, but nothing I've done has worked to make the vibrations stop before finishing.  It may be a minor inconvenience, but it's REALLY annoying if I'm sending back and forth text messages with someone and my phone keeps vibrating for a full 10 seconds before stopping while the phone is still in my hand.
Is there a way to stop the virbration pattern after receiving a message or do I have to wait until the pattern finishes?

Type %APPDATA% in your Run Box > open Mozilla folder > open Firefox folder > which contains the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profiles.ini_file profiles.ini] file (see screenshot how looks like) and rename it to '''profiles.iniOLD''' then the next time you start Firefox it will open with a new default profile, just as though you installed Firefox for the first time.

  • Vibration Pattern Preview

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2 the vibration pattern preview (Settings>Sound>Phone Vibration Pattern) will stop vibrating after randomly cycling through the 5 available options.  The device will subsequently fail to vibrate for incoming calls and notifications.

I don’t know any such way other than simply creating a Pattern Layer.
One might be able to automate creating a catalog of loaded patterns, but that would be of little use when editing a file or if one frequently creates new patterns.

  • My Imac desktop screen suddenly started to change colors and pattern appeared

My Imac desktop screen started to "flip out", things were moving around and strange patterns filled everything on the screen. After a minute it stopped. Is this a warning sign of a hard drive meltdown?

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

  • How do I turn off vibrations when changing sound preferences?

I recently changed from syncing from my iphone to my computer to syncing it to icloud.  Well it reset all my settings upon both syncs and now it vibrates every time I change a tone of some sort.  I gone into my settings and have the vibrations turned off under sounds, yet it continues to vibrate whether I have the phone on silent or otherwise. It is very annoying.  Please help Apple community! What can I do to get these vibrations to turn off completely?  I never want the phone to vibrate.

Someone else reported this sound last September, but there wasn't any resolution to that thread: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/938003 After upgrading to Snow Leopard on my Mac, Firefox makes typewriter or paper crinkling sounds when going to links and sites].
Does it seem to be at all related to whether pages use Flash? Just wondering whether it is some kind of notification sound related to Flash's capabilities of using the webcam and microphone.

  • Suddenly unable to change script labels

All of the sudden I'm unable to change the script labels for any of the frames in a document I am working on in CS4. Or, to be precise - ID will not remember/honor the changes I've made. I can type in a new value in the Script Label Panel and move on, but when I go back and look at that frame again, the old script label is still there - my change was discarded/disregarded.
Any ideas? I did restart ID, no change.

Indeed. That's the next step, but pick a new name so you don't overwrite the old file if possible (or at least back up the old one first if you need to preserve cross-refs).

  • Pattern changes after reopening the file.

I was trying to remain the posiition of the pattern applied to an object after I moved (or copied and moved) the object, so I selected the option "Transform Pattern Tiles" < General < Preference or even selecedt the option in the Transformation panel. The result was what I wanted, the moved/copied and moved object has identical pattern style as the original object.
However, after I saved the file, closed it, and then reopened it, the position of the pattern of the moved object somehow changed.
To demonstrate this issue, I've created a pattern like the following:
I applied this pattern to a sqaure, which appears like this:
I ensure both settings in the Preference and Transformation Panel, and then I dragged the square while holding the Alt to create a duplicate in aother position, which of course resulted in an identical square exactly like the above image.
Now the file has two identical squares in it, I saved the file and closed it, and then I reopend the file.
The second square now appears like this: , in which the pattern has different distribution style than previously. The only way I know to solve this is to expand the object and then the pattern style will be consistent after being moved.
I'm just wondering, is it a bug, the way it is, or did I just overlook any settings?
The file I used to test is in the attachment for you to see for yourself. I suggest you copy more than a few and save the file, close the file and then reopen it. Because sometimes you might just get lucky.
Note: I've seen this issue in both Illustrator CS and CS2.

    Hi Scott,
Thanks for replying. Let me rephrase my question:
Before moving the object with pattern, I did check the option "Transorm Pattern Tiles".
The result is what I want: a duplicate with exactly the same pattern distribution hehavior. But after I close the file and reopoened it,
the pattern distribution on the duplicate object somehow changed and different from the original object.
I tried to delete AIPres file. But the issue remains.

  • Match pattern: change regular expression search via front panel?

    Hello,
I have an application that I am developing which is making use of Serial VISA.
I am scanning the output of a serial port which is constantly spitting out a long string of data.
Data is being pulled from the string with several combinations of SCAN FROM STRING functions and MATCH PATTERN Functions.
    Question:
How can I use a button or TEXT box on the FRONT PANEL that can change the MATCH PATTERN Functions Regular expression?
for example the string may spit out the following:
     Weight\s\s\s\s\s\s\s\s\s\s\s\s-0.00\slb\s\s\s\s\s\s-16\sbits\s+74.40\s\B0F\sCorrected\s\s\s\s\s\s-0.00\slb\s+0.999987\s%\s\r
in this case the serial device is spitting out data in LB.
It could be possible for the device to spit out data in KG ... thus I need to change the REGULAR EXPRESSION.
    Thank you for your time

    Hi,

  • Sudden and strange change in GC behaviour

I see very strange GC behaviour with our application running by one of our customers, but I fail to reproduce it in lab. Most of the time the application is running just fine, and suddenly GC may start doing absolutely strange things.
Firstly, it starts running mostly major collections (normally one major collection in a few hours under the same user load)
    81703.7: [GC 81703.7: [DefNew: 737664K->737664K(760704K), 0.0000446 secs]81703.7: [Tenured: 2173068K->588301K(2350848K), 13.0162284 secs] 2910732K->588301K(3111552K), 13.0167844 secs]
    81730.7: [GC 81730.7: [DefNew: 737664K->319K(760704K), 0.0544614 secs] 2205198K->1467853K(3111552K), 0.0548729 secs]
    81746.8: [GC 81746.8: [DefNew: 735966K->735966K(760704K), 0.0000519 secs]81746.8: [Tenured: 2347147K->580785K(2350848K), 9.9294041 secs] 3083113K->580785K(3111552K), 9.9300118 secs]
The size of used memory suggests that objects get allocated directly to Tenured Generation. Secondly, collections become much more frequent (from 150-200 secs to 10-20 sec gap between collections). All together produce an astonishing rate of memory usage (acquired memory per second) of 50-100 MB/sec (normally it is about 2MB/sec). On the other hand, major collections take much less time, from 40 sec to 6-8 sec, which is good.
I do not see anything happening on the server that could explain such a major jump in memory usage! Also, the users do not see any significant and sudden change in response time. But over time it definitely affects performance (mostly because of frequent major collections) and the server needs to restart to get back to normal.
JVM version 1.4.1._02 on Solaris 8, parameters:
    -Xms3000000 Xmx3000000 -XX:NewRatio=3
I cannot reproduce it in test environment, so I cannot try a different JVM version and need to know why it happens before changing any JVM parameters (the current set looks a bit conservative but it works fine most of the time)

    secs] 3083113K->580785K(3111552K), 9.9300118 secs]
As you noticed, objects are getting allocated directly in the
Tenured Generation. (As background for those of our
readers new to reading GC logs:
The occupancy of the Tenured(Old) generation following the
    completion of the GC at 81730.7 is (1467853 - 319)K =
1467534 K. Now look at the Occupancy of the Tenured
generation at the start of the GC at 81746.8; it is
2347147 K. That means that between these two
collections, 879613 K (or about 870 MB) was directly
    allocated into the old generation.)
More about that direct allocation in the old generation later.
But a consequence of the fact that the old generation is so full,
is that the remaining free space is insufficient to allow the worst
case promotion from the young generation to succeed. As a result
a scavenge is not attempted, but rather a full compacting GC is
    done instead.
    Two things now.
First, if you use a more recent version of the JVM (1.5.0_06 i believe)
and set -XX:+HandlePromotionFailure, then you need not be hobbled
by the pessimistic worst-case promotion causing a full collection
to happen, when in fact a scavenge might indeed have succeeded
    and sufficed. (see
    http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot/gc5.0/gc_tuning_5.html#0.0.0.0.%20Young%20Generation%20Guarantee%7Coutline
or Google "Sun JVM Young Generation Guarantee").
Second, and coming back to the direct allocation issue, this
may be caused by one of two possible factors:
. it could be that your program is trying to allocate very large
objects in Eden that would not fit there and require
allocating directly in the much larger old generation.
Think about the kinds of data structures you have in your program.
Do you have largish hashmaps (which typically grow by doubling --
that could be one reason for a very large allocation request. Use
+PrintClassHistogram to understand the kinds of data structures
extant in your heap and their sizes; once again the document I mentioned
above or Google "HotSpot JVM PrintClassHistogram" or check out
Joe Mocker's HotSpot options list for how to use itL:
    http://blogs.sun.com/roller/resources/watt/jvm-options-list.html
. it could also be that your application is making heavy use of
serialization (for example), or through some other means (perhaps
directly through JNI) executing JNI critical sections which may be
locking out GC for an extended period of time. In older JVM's this
could translate into extremely poor mutator (application) performance
until the critical section is exited. The reason is that GC is locked
out in the interim and once Eden fills up, allocations go slow-path to
    the old generation.
The latter has been addressed in later JVM's; please try 1.5.0_06 for example
and let us know your experience.
Finally, it would seem as though your application needs a
large Java heap and you want to avoid excessive GC costs/pauses.
Consider running with the mostly concurrent collector especially
if you have some concurrent processing power to spare on your
    deployment platform. Please refer to:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot/gc5.0/gc_tuning_5.html#0.0.0.%20The%20Concurrent%20Low%20Pause%20Collector%7Coutline

Suddenly the display of the typface change to italic. Not in all cases. I can't find something to undo it. Has someone an idea?

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Try clearing the font cache. In order to do that you need to boot in Safe Mode.
    Shut down your Mac.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator. During startup in Mac OS X v10.4.x or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, even if normally you log in automatically. Boot time is a minute or two longer than a normal boot.
After your Mac boots to the Desktop restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.
What this process does... It moves to the Trash all font caches normally stored in /Library/Caches/
Restart your Mac and try Safari.

  • Exam pattern change

    Hi,
I heard that the exam pattern for Oracle certification exams have been changed, effective from June 01, 2010. Is that all true?
If so, can someone please let me know what is the current question pattern for OCA/OCP?
    Thanks,
    Karthika

    user9546145 wrote:
The pattern I mean here is, the type of questions in OCA/OCP (PL/SQL Developer). Till now, we were getting multiple choice objective questions.
Is it going to be the same pattern of questions or Oracle has changed its pattern of questions for OCA/OCP (PL/SQL developer)? There is no sign of any change in the basic format of any exam.
and in particular I see no change in the exam topic for 1z0-144, 1z0-146 and 1z0-147.
What has changed at some point in the last 10 months (at least for some exams) is the exam interface / skin /presentation Look and Feel. Same thing under the skin, just a little difference in style (The difference might be like the basic first glance appearance differences between say Windows XP and Windows Vista ... but dont take this example to far). And I have seen a reference which may indicate to me that at least test provider is refering to this as 'pattern' with regard to their exam simulator (and this may be unauthorised test providers using this term so beware http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html).
