Alias and Copy? Can TRASH be recovered? I lost my work.

What's the difference between alias and copy?
Also, can what you trash and delete in the trash, ever be recovered? ALL my projects are GONE! I think I deleted the original projects on my hard drive, BUT before I did that, I made a copy and put it on a external drive to free up some memory on my original hard drive, therefore, the projects should still be there. Any thoughts to either question? Thanks.

An Alias is a small file that points to an original somewhere else on your hard drives.
The icons you see in the Dock, for example, are not the actual applications but clicking on them will open the applications.
You might also make an alias for a file that you use often and place it on your desktop, instead of opening the Finder and going several folders deep to locate the original.
If an original file is deleted, the alias is useless.
There are possibilties to recover trashed files. You stand a better chance if you immediately stop using the computer and run the recovery software ASAP. Best results are achieved by recovering to a different drive - not the same drive as the original file was on.

I don't think you're on iOS 5, I think you're using iOS 6. That's the latest version.
Unless you've used iCloud to back up your documents, you won't be able to restore them. And for future reference, you don't have to uninstall Pages to update your iPad anymore. Sorry about this.

For Physical standby, since it's block to block identical with primary. You could use backup of primary to recover physical standby. There's usually no need to backup physical standby.
For logical standby, since you could have other schema hosted on it in addition to the one that protected by data guard. It's good idea to have separate backup from primary.
Otherwise, rebuild from primary is always an option.

Do you mean the first section is starting at page one?
And the second one now is starting at page two?
So I would ask why you would need sections at all?
Did you set the controls for Automatic Page Numbering?
If you select the particular page where section two is starting in the Pages Panel, you could untick the Start Section option in the numbering and section dialog. That would remove the section. You cannot do that with the very first section, but you should set the first section to Automatic Page Numbering if you ever want to use your document with an inDesign book file.

Dont buy a Western Digital, get a Hitachi or Seagate (Toshiba is made by Hitachi). These are the most reliable, and the HD used inside Macs.
ALL HD can be made compatible with your MAC (including a WD if you already bought same), ......they just need to be formatted for the Mac platform, format them in Disk Utility as Mac OSX extended journaled.

Hello, I bought this printer about one month ago. At the time i installed it, did some printing, did a scan and take some copy's. Yesterday i need to print some documents and nothing happens. What have i tried: remove and reinstall the printer via usbremove and reinstall the printer via networkdownload and updated all driverschange usb portchange usb cablerun Print and Scan Doctor for Windowsremoved windows update kb3079904 (since it's font related) I still can do scans, so the connection to the printer is not the problem, i still can print when setup (reinstall , via web page or Print and Scan Doctor), i still can print via ipad and or android devices. I can't print via office applications, acrobat, any web browser I also notice that on the 22-07-2015 i had installed an optional update from HP related with BIDI (?!?!?) but can't find a way to uninstall to test if this is the culprit What can i do more so that i can print again? PS: when print is submitted, if it's only one page, nothing happens, nothing is added to the printer queue, if more them one page is send to the printer i get an error saying that "an error has occured please try again later".

How can I tell if my computer is up to date? What you can try is to install and use an HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) in Windows 7. (Document link provided below) IMPORTANT: Leave the original printer in devices and printers so scanning and the HP software isn't affected. Just set the new PCL or Postscript printer as the default and ignore the original copy. Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

I just got a new itouch 4 and i can't get imessage and facetime to work on my home wifi network (Airport Express). I can't explain it. The itouch works fine otherwise uncluding the internet. Facetime and imessage work at the apple store so there must be something wrong with my home network. Please help if you can!

I changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8 as you suggested with no success, I even tried 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 as suggested by others with no success either. When I try and activate iMessage or Facetime, I still get the same message "could not sign in, please check your network connection". The internet and Mail work perfectly fine on the iPod touch so the WiFi signal IS going through. I am at a loss, any other suggestions would be more than welcome. Thanks!

Did you look in the Applications folder for Calendar? If it is there, remove the item that is in the Dock and replace it by dragging the Calendar application to the Dock.
If it is not there, did you have iCal located somewhere other than the Applications folder when you upgraded?

Was your airport express purchased recently?
Was it new or used?
Has it been set to extend an existing network?
You can always try resetting the airport express by unplugging it and pressing the little button on the underside with a stretched out paperclip for roughly 30-45 seconds then try plugging it in again.
Once you've reset the airport express, you'll want to walk through the setup process from a Mac or Windows computer using Apple's Airport Setup Utility.

I am having a problem moving files from an imac in one location to an imac inanother location. I have tried using Dropbox which is installed in both locations but when i drad a file ino yhe app it becomes an alias. When I get to the other location it says I can't open the file because the " original application that created it is not present". This is despite the fact that the app that created both files is installed in both computers. If I use the Public folder in the idisc, when I get to the other location the file isn't there. Am I forgetting to turn something on or off? Should I manually sync the Public folder and if so how? Thanks
