Alias Controller

Hi, I created 2 alias tables for the member's short names and long names.In Excel Add-in, I get pick the alias table from drop down (ie. either Default, Short Name or Long Name). When I am in Analyzer, only the default table is found. Is it true in Analyzer only one alias table can be used at one time? I see the "Alias Controller" button on the tool bar when I turn on the design mode, what's that for? It looks like I shall be able to pick see the alias tables that I created.Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi, The version we use is: Version: 6.5.0.0.00701 I can see the alias tables on the drop down, but the alias didn't change. The following is the step I do: 1) Open Outline2) Import the 2 alias tables (Alias01 and Alias02)3) Saved outline4) Open Analyzer5) Open a rpt and change to Design Mode6) Drag the Alias controller to the command panel (attached the same source as the data set)7) Save the rpt8) Switch to the Normal View. The Alias Controller Drop Down is available with the imported alias tables (ie. Alias01 & Alias02). There is no change on the member names no matter which alias table I select.As I opened the Excel (Add-in), I can pick the Alias table that I want and the member name changes as the alias table changes.Did I miss any steps in Analyser to turn on the "Alias Controller"?Thanks for your help in advance.

Web Analysis Alias Issues

We changed some cost center naming conventions within the Essbase cube and moved the old alias to a new alias table called OLD so reports relying on this alias would not be comprimised. The problem is that the reports already developed will not show the new alias description. I tried everything I can think of including removing the old alias directly in Essbase. Any ways around this or do I have to recreate the reports?
With the excel add-in, it is as easy as changing the alias table reference in options, but I can't find a similar function in Web Analysis.

Good news...Bad news...
The good news is that there is a way to manage this in Analyzer/Web Analysis. The bad news is that it is a really poor implementation of this feature. To date, this is the only way I know of to control this.
If you open your report in the Java client (Studio) and switch to Report Designer mode, you will see on the menu bar the different types of subscriptions you can drag onto your report. Things like combo boxes, grids, radio buttons, etc. There is one that is often overlooked, called "Alias Controller". Drag the alias controller onto your report and switch back to Analyze View. You now have a drop down box on your report that allows you to choose which alias table you want to utilize.
Of course you'll have to touch each report to do this.
Another issue is that you now have an Alias controller on each report. That might be a benefit to you if it makes sense for your users to toggle back and forth, however if it doesn't and you don't want the drop down box on your report, there are some options. One options is to hide it behind another object or under a panel. The other option, and I have not tested this extensively, is to add the controller, change the alias table to the one you want, save the report, go back and delete the controller, save the report again, and it should continue to use the new alias table. I don't know if at some point it will revert back to the default alias table, but my basic testing showed it will hold the last table prior to removing the controller from the report. To be safe, you might just want to hide it.

Apps getting very slow - where to get some details? [SOLVED]

All my apps (Gui as well as console) are so sloooow to react since I upgraded to kernel 2.6.14.3-2 Sunday morning & got that message at boot :

box components are brand new (3 weeks), still it might be HDD (or ALi controller Sata support in kernel as it started with last upgrade) related :
HDD makes a *lot* more writing-noise (read: not noise, but as if it took ages to write something on it) than until 2 days ago. GTK apps stay blank/unreactive for a few seconds before returning back to being usable

Cannot launch bonnie++ on /home partition as it asks for 2 times RAM MB & my /home is only 2MB (1,5 available)

"SOME" devices can resolve the ALIAS (CNAME record) for a device, but not the REAL name (A record) - Why? How do I fix this?

I'm running the DNS server role on Windows Server 2012 R2 on a physical machine on my home network.
My AD is configured with a non-registered name - let's say it's "home.acme.ca" and the DNS server is configured to host that zone. I also configured a 2nd zone in the DNS server called "myinf.acme.ca". They both run on a physical
server with an IP of 192.168.1.10
The DHCP server on my Cable Modem is configured to hand out 192.168.1.10 as the only DNS server to every device on my network. On my servers (with static IP addresses), 192.168.1.10 is configured as the only DNS server available for them.
I took the DNS servers from my Cable Provider and configured a Forwarder on my server to send name resolution requests to them only if my DNS server can not answer the request - basically for any name resolution request that does not end with ".home.acme.ca"
or ".myinf.acme.ca"
The "home.acme.ca" zone is populated with 'A' records for all of the physical and virtual servers and PC's on my network.
The "myfin.acme.ca" zone is populated with 'CNAME' records that point directly to the 'A' record in "home.acme.ca" - for example, I have a serve named s000abc123ww.home.acme.ca with an 'A' record providing an IP address of 192.168.1.20 and
I created a 'CNAME' (alias) record named 'webserver.myinf.acme.ca' which points to the 'A' record 's000abc123ww.home.acme.ca'
2 of my 6 machines can resolve the alias but not the real name of the server!
.10 is the Domain Controller. All of the other machines (except .98) are members of the home.acme.ca domain.
I attempted to ping 's000abc123ww.home.acme.ca' AND 'webserver.myinf.acme.ca' on the following 6 computers. I used the fully qualified name in all cases.
4 of the below machines are able to resolve BOTH names. The other 2 can resolve the Alias but not the real name!
I don't understand how this is possible, but I would like to fix it...!!! Please help?
.10 - Server 2012 R2 (Physical) - Hosts Active Directory and DNS.
.20 - Server 2012 R2 (Virtual)   - Runs SQL Server
.21 - Server 2012 R2 (Virtual)   - Runs Apache
.22 - Server 2012 R2 (Virtual) -   Runs Apache. This is the device I am trying to ping (s000abc123ww)
.98 - Windows 7 (Physical)
.99 - Windows 7  (Virtual)
.21 (which is configured nearly identically to .20 and .22) can resolve and ping the Alias, but not the real name.
.98 can also resolve and ping the Alias, but not the real name.
The rest of the machines can resolve and ping both the alias and the real name.
All of the Virtual Machines are running under Hyper-V on the .10 physical server.
All the devices are on the same subnet.

CNAME resource records are recommended for use in the following scenarios:
• When a host that is specified in an A resource record in the
same zone needs to be renamed
• When a generic name for a well-known server, such as www, must resolve to a group of individual computers (each with individual A resource records) that provide the same
service, for example, a group of redundant Web servers
Therefore please try to create your CNNAM record in the same zone and try again.

Fieldpoint IO points are all greyed-out and alias is "unknown"

the app was originally written in 6i or 6.1 I don't remember. I am updating and adding an Oracle backend. Anyway ...
Running LabView 7 on Win2K server, MAX 3.2
in the Fieldpoint IO point controls/indicators, all text is always greyed-out, and when I poll for FP resources, the first part of the string, the alias, shows as "unknown", not the default value = "Fieldpoint".
What am I missing??

Have you setup your FieldPoint controller and modules in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)? If you are using an Ethernet controller (FP-160x or (c)FP-20xx) then you need to set it up underneath remote systems. If you have a serial controller then you need to set it up under devices and interfaces. If this isn't the issue, then make sure that you have the correct IAK file selected by choosing browse from the FieldPoint I/O Point Control menu (click the down arrow). A configuration window will appear and make sure that you have the correct IAK file selected under the View Configuration tab.

Unable get the bean in Controller of the item created through OAF Personalization

Hello Folks,
I have a requirement to create an Static Styled Text item through OAF Personalization and that item should be shown if it meets some particular condition.
So I tried to extend the controller of the page and tried to get the reference of the bean but I am not getting the bean in the controller class.
I have seen the main page and some external regions are there in the page.
Main Page has the controller attached in its page layout region and other regions don't have any CO attached.
Whenever I create the item it is under that particular region.
When I try to access some seeded item created under that region and I am able to get the bean in the controller but not the one created by me.
Here is the scenario:
Suppose Page Name is TestPG, it includes some external region like XyzPG, whenever I create the item it gets created under XyzRN with name XyzRN.item1 but whatever seeded items are there those are there with name item2,item3 etc. For item2, item3 I am able to get the bean but not not for XyzRN.item1 in the controller.
Could you please tell me how to get the bean for XyzRN.item1 in the main page controller.
Please reply soon. Its urgent.

a) In your base page controller, try to get bean instance of child embeded region top ui element.
b) Now use this bean instance to find child region instance from your base page CO
But it didn't work for me :-( :'(

".alias" file in LV 8.2 DSC - What is in there and why does it change?

Why does the alias file get updated every time I open and close the associated project WITHOUT SAVING ANYTHING ?

I can give you some reasoning behind the 'why.' The aliases file
lets the project know the location (IP) of each of the targets in the
project to facilitate communication between them. This is very
useful in Real-Time and FPGA applications containing multiple
independent targets. If you create a new RT cRIO Controller in
your project, for example, you'd find your aliases file now looks like
this:

My Computer = "10.0.31.147"
[RT CompactRIO Target]
RT CompactRIO Target = "10.0.35.254"
The reason why the aliases file is updated just by opening the project
(even without saving the project) is that the project file may have
been moved to a different computer, or your IP address may have changed
since the last time it was opened. LabVIEW needs the current
address of each of the targets to be able to, among other things, send
and receive FTP files, set up front-panel communication with the
target, and properly configure shared variables. This behavior
should be present in all flavors of LabVIEW 8.2, and not just with the
DSC Module.

Driver alias changes during installation of Solaris

I have a HP LP1000r Netserver. It's a little 1u box with a hardware pci raid controller that is giving me some grief.
The card is a HP NetRaid-1M. This card is bascially an OEM version of the AMI MegaRaid 475(Express 500). AMI's raid cards were bought out by LSI who doesn't have Solaris drivers for this card.
There is a LSI MegaRaid driver disk for download from Sun but that seem to be just for new MegaRaid cards. Solaris has a AMI MegaRaid driver, "amr". Looking at the driver alias for the latest Solaris 10 x86 release the driver_alias does not contain the pci ids for my card.
The Solaris amr driver seems to be a port of the FreeBSD amr driver (http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/JoeyGuo?entry=hello_there_welcome_here). The FreeBSD driver lists support for "AMI MegaRAID Express 500 (Series 475)".
So is there any way for me to tell the Solaris installation that my card should use the amr driver? I need to install to hard drives connected to this card.
Would support for this card have been stripped when it was ported from FreeBSD?

I've installed FreeBSD on the system to verify that the HP NetRAID-1M is supported by the original amr driver, and it is.
At the grub menu I've tried to modify the kernel parameters when launching the install to:
kernel /boot/multiboot kernel/unix -B install_media=cdrom,"target-driver-for-pci103c,60e7"=amr
I've also tried sd instead of amr. The quotes are because of the comma in the key name. I'm kinda guessing on the quote usage based on the info at the end of http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2379/6n4m1vldu?a=view.
I came across http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=291&threadID=89269 which sounds like it might work for me but building an install server just to modify a driver alias for a single machine is just a little much.
If there is no way to just make Solaris see the card correctly during install, is there some way to make a driver disk that just adds extra alias and what ever else is need to make the existing driver work?

Passing querystring via alias application call

Hello everyone,
first of all I'm not quite sure if this is the correct forum for my question so please excuse me if it's the wrong one.
We're using short urls (alias) to call a application in our portal. For example http://sapportal/alias_test will be transalated to something like http://host:port/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/content/1/2/3
So far so good. Now I want to pass a parameter via the alias (http://sapportal/alias_test?param=value). This will be translated into http://host:port/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/content/1/2/3?param=value. For some reason the parameter cannot be read via request->get_form_field( 'param' ). Calling the application with a parameter directly via the controller works just fine.
You might need to know that http://host:port/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/content/1/2/3 is using an iView to execute the BSP application. In the settings for this iView I can define application parameters, however, this won't help since the value I want to pass with the alias is dynamic.
Any idea how I could solve this issue?

You're only 50% correct at what you're saying. I managed to find a solution on my own and it's working.
In the controller I'm using request->get_header_fields to read the referer field. This contains the translated url including the querystring for the alias. Extracting the parameter is rather easy then.
In other words: It's possible to read parameters for the situation given but it's not as easy as reading parameters passed by a form.
For your Information: The link is used in an E-Mail where I don't want to have a full url. And even if I would use a full url (the translated url) it wouldn't help since the parameter would still not be passed to the application.
Anyway. It's solved.

Replace WS2003 domain controller for WS2012 domain controller

Hi, I think that is a common problem but I haven't found anythink exactly like this, only something similar, but I have a lot of doubts yet.
The thing is that I have a network with two domain controllers:
WS2003 - 192.168.0.1, who is the first domain controller I created and is also a file sharing server
WS2008R2 - 192.168.0.8, who is a new domain controller I added one year ago.
Now, I want to replace the first one, keeping the second. One.
I thinking of removing the first one and replace it with a new machine (WS2012) with the same IP and name host. I need the same host because clients are pointing to it to get the shared files.
My main fear is that clients get some error related with trust relationship and I will have to rejoin them one by one to the domain.
As I have another domain controller, Will the global catalog of the new machine be synchronized automaticly with the WS2008R2 domain controller?
Do I need to demote the old domain controller before add the new one?

Hi Tomas,
As pointed by Burakm you should have an additional file server and should avoid using a Domain controller which has priviledged access, to share files. This puts you at a security risk.
Regarding the requirement of old host name:
Here is something that would let you keep a different servername and IP, yet allow your users to connect to the old hostname and access the share. Use CNAME records of old server to point it to the new hostname.

Usb pci1033,e0 Enhanced Host Controller G5 PowerPC 1.8GHz

Hi every one
need help to sort this silly problem out
We have a PowerPC G5 1.8 duel fitted with 8GB ram - everything works great until I ftted this USB PCI card
We have just fitted a PCI card into it:
usb pci1033,e0 Enhanced Host Controller (into slot 2)
When I look at mac info it say:

but under neath type it says:

Now since this PCI card has been fitted - The PowerPC G5 mac will not go to sleep or even shut down.
I have ran the CONSOLE - and cleared the cash prior to asking it to go to sleep and it, when I leave it for 5 munites and move mouse the screen comes back on it says

mac will not go to sleep - will not shut down - just says on all night !!!!

Remove the offending PCI card.
If it is a USB 2.0 PCI controller make sure it has the NEC chipset.
ALI or VIA chipset cards will always cause problems.
NEC chipsets are natively supported in 10.4.3 and onward.
Do NOT install third party USB drivers. Most all cause incompatibilities.

"Could not create renderer with alias..." after deploying ResourceRenderer

I've developed a custom ResourceRenderer class that looks like this:

All it does, really, is preventing links to documents in KM to open in a new window. At least that's what I'm hoping it will do, as it's based on ideas in <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=20316">this post</a>.
I've added all the necessary .jar files, and implemented a wrapper portal service as described here: <a href="http://media.sdn.sap.com/html/submitted_docs/nw_kmc/ide/projects/Setting%20Up%20a%20KMC%20Project.html">http://media.sdn.sap.com/html/submitted_docs/nw_kmc/ide/projects/Setting%20Up%20a%20KMC%20Project.html</a>.
I've created an alias for the class in Content Management -> User Interface -> Mapping, and assigned this to the resource renderer settings that I use.
OK, here is where the trouble starts. When viewing the layout set with debugging on, I check Rendering Information. It informs me that "The given configuration was not used, because the alias is not defined or points to an invalid java class". Looking in the log, this is the error message:

I have a suspicion this might have something to do with the SharingRefernce in portalapp.xml, but after experimenting with different values, I'm no nearer a solution. Any ideas, anyone? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Gourab,
Double check the the page.xml has referring to the correct CO. Open the page.xml and see which controller is attached to it.
Also attach the extended controller through personalization to the page/Region.

Can an image of Windows 2000 using NI-VXI 3.5 with a PXI-MXI controller be fielded for multiple computers using sysprep?

I am trying to field an image of Windows 2000 using NI-VXI 3.5 with a PXI-MXI controller. Can I set the system up to retain to original settings for VXI? Some of my computers use a PCI-MXI controller. Although Windows always finds the MXI controller, the original VXI System 0 is not used. I have several VME instruments set up and the target is about 85 different computers. Also the NI-GPIB interface does not show in MAX. Is this supposed to work?

Here's an update regarding the gpib error. There has been a Corrective Action Request (CAR) ID:3BI8A578, filed due to a similar issue of error gpibpnp.exe with NI-488.2 v2.2 on Windows 2000 and Sysprep. This issue's workaround involved going back to install NI-488.2 v2.1 or installing the v2.3 release in order to eliminate the problem. Currently, NI-488.2 v2.3 is no longer available for download, however, all operating systems and hardware supported by NI-488.2 v2.3 are also supported by NI-488.2 v2.4 (see link 1).

Findout previous deleted domain controller computer name frome SID

I recently suspicious that some one in my company join new additional domain controller to my primary DC and after replication and get the domain controller partitions ,he disjoint the new additional dc .
I got the his event in my dns log :
The DNS server was unable to create a resource record for d630907c-e2f4-41cf-a2c6-adc087f25f46._msdcs.metro.com. in zone metro.com. The Active Directory definition of this resource record is corrupt or contains an invalid DNS name. The event
data contains the error.
I want to translate the DNS alias sid :d630907c-e2f4-41cf-a2c6-adc087f25f46
to computer name in order to find who did this?
is there a way to find out previous DC computer name after hey disconnected or DC computer account deleted?
I wonder to know ho did this?

The guid you're referring to corresponds to the NTDS Settings object for the "lost" DC. You can do this in Powershell to get the DirectoryEntry for that guid:
[adsi]"LDAP://<GUID=d630907c-e2f4-41cf-a2c6-adc087f25f46>"
However, if the object has been deleted, you need to perform another query (in Powershell as well):
$guid = ([guid]"d630907c-e2f4-41cf-a2c6-adc087f25f46")
Get-ADObject -SearchBase "DC=metro,DC=com" -IncludeDeletedObjects -Filter { objectGuid -eq $guid }
Note that by default you need to be a member of Domain Admins or Administrators to be able to query AD for deleted objects.
