Alias forgets it's original object

When I rename an ALIAS, it loses it's link to the original file.
It does so after a new login. When I then relink the alias, it stays functional.
Anybody else got this issue?
Note
Did an upgrade installation from 10.6.8...

  • Open via alias forgets last window dimensions

When I double-click an alias to open a window, the target window sometimes (but not always) opens using dimensions that were NOT what I'd set when I'd last used that window.  I know I can right-click the alias, do a 'show original' and then double-click the 'real' folder to get the window to open with thge correct/remembered settings.  But that's an extra step/click and misses some of the convenience of using an alias in the first place.
Is there some way to get an alias to behave consistently (dare I say 'correctly') when it's simply double-clicked?

Not really, short of some additional software.

I've been using their app Stay for about a year now, and SWEAR by it. Work has me utilizing about 5-10 different windows that all LOVE to forget what size/position they were left in. This has really saved my hide from wasting insane amounts of time rearranging things.

  • How to pick the field "Origin Object" from SAP R/3

    Hi all,
I need to implement a new field in a BEx Report : "Origin Object". This data is mix of "Cost Center" + "Project type", it's related to the PS module.
This field isn't available in my BW datawarehouse, so I need to figure out where and how to pick up it in R/3. I used the "data element" name : "CO_USPOB" and I've made a research through the "Where used list" tool but I didn't find any tables, only some structures. I've checked all of these structures but I didn't get any tracks...
Do you know another way to investigate? is there any doc. on the SAP.help about this data element?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
    Jak

    Hi,
If you know the transaction where the field can be seen. Then run the trace on that transaction and in the Trace list you will see all the tables accesed during the tranasaction execution. Then you can get the correct table from the table list

  • GLPCT has entries from MM, SD & other origin objects but not in GLPCA

    Hello,
We have a situation as below: amounts are not actuals to simpliy problem:
GL account involved is ABC which is a Retained earnings account.
    FBL3N displays 100
GLPCA displays 100 with origin object as 35 - entries from FI
    But GLPCT displays 160.
Reason is that in GLPCT there are lines with many more origin objects. There exists a line with origin object 35 which is exactly displaying the figure of 100.
But there are additional lines with origin ojects like :
    1 Profit center
    2 Cost center
    4 Production order
    5 Billing document
    7 WBS Element
    9 Network activity
    45 Reconcilation object
Of these I could understand that if suppose we have a direct entry in PCA then in GLPCA & GLPCT we have lines with origin object 1. But currently we dont have any line in GLPCA with origin object 1.
Also a major question is how other origin objects are updated in GLPCT without reference in GLPCA & no link in GL line items BSEG.
The problem is that users want to run report S_ALR87013340 & are comparing with total of FBL3N. But the report shows the total of all the origin objects in GLPCT & hence the balance is never balancing with FBL3N.
Note - No archiving has been carried out.
Please help in understanding the GLPCT updates.
    Thanks & Regards
    Shreenath

    Hello Eli,
Thanks for the prompt response. I have read the note. It doesnt explain however from where these various origin objects are getting updated in GLPCT.
The problem is not that the total for origin object 35 is different. It is exactly matching in GLPCT, GLPCA & GL line items.
But how to understand & trace what are the entries which are updating different origin objects in GLPCT directly.
    Please help.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Origin Object Type for Plant Maintenance Orders in Profit Center Accounting

    Hi,
I want to make a selection for plant maintenance orders in transaction KE5Z, report for line items in Profit Center Accounting. When checking possible input options for the selection field <b></b>Origing Object Type<b></b> the system shows value 15 for Maintenance Orders. However I discovered in our system the maintenance orders are reported as Origing Object Type 03, which is Overhead Orders according to the selection list. So I cannot distinguish between overhead orders and maintenance orders in this report.
What is the cause our maintenance orders are assigned to Origin Object Type 03 in stead of 15 and what is the customizing transaction to correct this ?

Looks like, this is no longer supported. Refer to note 168004 and  102434.
    Cause and prerequisites
These functions were not programmed to meet the above requirements.
As of Release 4.0, the object type is transferred directly.
    Solution
Once you have implemented the advance correction. the origin object type 'Overhead cost order' (03) is assigned irrespective of what is the SCOPE for orders.
As a result of implementing this note or as of Release 4.6B, the order category distinguishes between overhead cost orders and production orders in the origin object type. In this case, the following origin object types result (as described above in 1.):
    Order category 04 to 10, 40 => 04 (production order)
All other order categories => 03 (overhead cost order)
The logic that the origin object type was set depending on the object class (as described above in 2.) is no longer supported. The object class can be evaluated separately in Reporting. -
The corrections of this note refer in Release 4.0B to the corrections from Note 102434.

  • Get Info for alias does not show "Original" location

When I Get Info for an alias, no "Original" location shows. What must I do to see the original file location?

In addition to finding the location listed under the "General" pane of the info window (you might have to click the disclosure arrow), you can also go right to the original—meaning show it in its Finder window at the original location—by right clicking the alias and selecting "Show Original."

  • Original object cannot be replaced

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know how can I check the issue below:
with SAPKB70015 there is a new authorization field delivered, called
R3TR AUTH TCODE. But this object already exists on this system.
    object catalog: PGMID R3TR
    OBJECT AUTH
    OBJ NAME TCODE
    KORRNUM
    SRCSYSTEM DEV <---
    AUTHOR AMENON
    SRCDEP
    DEVCLASS ZEPOS
This object was created on the development system. Therefore it can't be overwrittenThe authorisation field TCODE is used in the authorisation object
Z_EPOS_REP which belongs to object class ZEPS.
Please clarify if this authorisation field can be moved to the
    customer namespace.
    Thanks, Kurtt

    Hi Valle,
Please check the resolution below its works fine for me....
For the dumps, please try the solution in note 1700109.
For the error R3TRAUTHREPORT Original object Cannot be replaced,
kindly use report 'Change Object Directory Entries' from SE03 tcode for the
following object to change the Original system entry to SAP:
    R3TR AUTH REPORT

    good luck..

  • When i duplicate an object, it moves it far away from where my original object is as soon as i move it. is there any way to fix this?

when i duplicate an object in numbers, it moves it far away from where my original object is as soon as i move it. is there any way to fix this? thanks

    Hi Rick,
Your initial duplicate should be offset by one grid unit to the right and below the location of the original. If you move that duplicate by dragging it, without first de-selecting it, then reselecting it, the place you put it will determine the offset for subsequent duplicates (from the same original or from the copy).
    Example:
    Initial object and first duplicate:
Pressing shift-up arrow would move the duplicate up to align with the top of the original. Pressing shift-left arrow would then place the duplicate directly in front of the original.
Without being deselected, the duplicate was dragged to the position shown:
Command-D was then pressed to duplicate the first copy:
The duplicate appeared in this position
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Break association between original object and transformation copies?

    Hi,
After I had created an array of duplicates for the original drawing object, I found that once the original object is modified, all its copies are changed automatically afterwards.
Is it possible to break the association between the original object and is transformation copies, so that subsequent editing can be made on each individual copy?
    Bob

Modify>Separate Attributes. This will give you the objects as a group. The Transform Effect is no longer in effect.

  • Changes in alias not changed in original file.

I Want to go quickly to my most used files.  I made already copy's to the screen but the changes I make in the file on the screen are not changed in the original file.   And i have seen that the whole file (3GB) is copied to the screen. In fact I want a shortcut, quick acces, to some files but go to the original file.
    Thanks for advice,

If you copy a file to a different location, such as the Desktop, that is a different file - it is no longer the original file. So, making changes to it will not change the original, because there is no connection between them.
From what you describe, you should make an alias to the original file, then place that in a convenient place, such as on the Desktop.
Two ways to make an alias -
    • Select the original by clicking it once, then press Command-L (Make Alias in the File menu). An alais to the original will be created there, which can then be moved to a preferred location. In this instance the word "alias" will be added to the end of the filename for the item.
    • Select the original by clicking it once, then hold down both the Command and Option keys while dragging the file to another location. When you release the drag, an alias to the original will be created at the location you dragged to. In this instance the filename will be unchanged.
Note - the icon for an alias will have an added glyph, a small bent arrow in the lower left -

  • Source and Original Object

In our application, we are using both mergeXXX() and uow register api in different scenarios. I find that while using uow.register, in aboutToUpdate(), getSource() returns the updated object while in the case of former, getOriginalObject() returns the updated object. Is this how it works, or is anything wrong?

The source of the aboutToUpdate event in the UnitOfWork clone, and should contain the changes and does reflect what will be committed to the database. getOriginalObject() should normally not be used from the aboutToUpdate event as the transaction has not yet been committed and the original should not be changed. In your mergeXXX case it seems that the object being merged was not in the shared cache, so the merge clone was used as a placeholder for the original.
If you are not seeing the object being committed correctly to the database, you may be having issues in your mergeXXX.

  • BI Content Original objects vs. Copy

    Hi,
is there a SAP recomentation (white paper) how to use the SAP business content:
    Original infoobjects or copies
    Original infoproviders or copies
    Original infosources or copies
    etc.
What are your recomentations regarding this issue?
    Thanks, Klaus

    Hi,
To add to the comments already made, its always a good idea to copy std objects and then modify them. Its a SAP recommended best practice not to touch std objects unless you have to, but copy them over to another and then customize it.
The disadvantage is during the version upgrades and patch upgrades. You don't know how the customized objects will work with std code. The more the customization, the more the testing.
So, its basically a balancing act.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • Renaming An Alias But Not The Original Folder's Name

    Hi All,
I"ve got many macs at my house on my network. I want to create an alias on my macbook pro to a folder on my imac. THATS NO PROBLEM!
    However,
I then want to RENAME that alias to another name. THATS NO PROBLEM!
    My issue is,
when I rename that alias, it also renames the original folder and I don't want that! I want the alias name to be different than the original file's name. Is that possible? If so, do I need to create a symbolic link instead? If so, how is that done?
    Thanks,

that should not happen. you are doing something incorrectly. how exactly are you creating the alias? commandoptiondrag the remote folder to your desktop. that will create an alias there and you can rename it as you like it.
and I don't want that! I want the alias name to be different than the original file's name. Is that possible? If so, do I need to create a symbolic link instead?
a symbolic link will work too but an alias will work just fine also.
If so, how is that done?
    Thanks,
