Alias in EPMA shared library

Hi There,
When we add a new member into EPMA shared library using ODI the new item comes into Hyperion with alias/description. However, if I change that description in ERP this does not seem to pass across into Hyperion and it looks like it is a manual task for the administartor to maintain that alias manually.
Could someone let us know the reason and/or resolution for this issue.
Cheers !!!!

Hi,
Have a look at below link for the specific details:

  • ODI metadata integration with EPMA Shared library

    Hello all,
we are in the implementation phase of Hyperion Planning and we have to update metadata using some ETL tool into EPMA.
Is ODI integrates with Oracle and EPMA shared library or not.
if not then we have some other tool to integrates the same.
    Kindly reply.
    Thanks,
    KK

I believe John Goodwin wrote a series of blog-posts to show exactly this integration.
    Here is the first one:

  • EPMA shared library relational representation

I want to use EPMA shared libraries to manually maintain certain dimensions for Planning, but also access that metadata to update other external environments requiring the same hierarchy information. I am running on SQL Server 2005. Hierarchies are managed nowhere else in the company and DRM is not a desired option.
I see HYP_HPLAN tables that contain numeric IDs for dimension members and a HYP_UNIQUE_NAMES table that appears to contain the mappings. Am I on the right track looking at these? How would you recommend going about extracting EPMA shared library hierarchy information into a meaningful table or tables for use elsewhere?
    Thanks for your ideas!

It is not more useful to create metadata first in relational if you want to leverage the user interface of EPMA libraries for the maintenance of manual dimensions. Given the business need for some manually maintained dimensions, I think it is much friendlier to have a key user add members, etc. in a hierarchial interface rather than populate a table (likely based on submission of a manually maintained spreadsheet). In my way of thinking, coming from "old school" Essbase, there is intuitive benefit in having hierarchy modeling tools (App Mgr, EAS). So my question still stands and is based on the desire do use EPMA as that tool in a Planning context.

  • EPMA Shared Library

I am trying to share dimensions between an HFM application and a Planning application. Is there a way to share a dimension which needs to be the entity dimension in planning but a generic dimension in HFM? In Planning, my Department dimension is tagged as entity but in HFM, Entity is tagged as Entity and Department is tagged as generic (Custom 1). Is there a way to share the department dimension between the 2 applications that are not tagged the same? I've been unable to figure this out.

This is not possible currently, an Enhancement request has been logged in for this one.

  • User cannot view dimensions within EPMA Dimension Library in Shared Library

    Greetings,
I presume this must be a security issue, but user cannot view his dimensions in the shared library in EPMA. He can, however view view his application, update the local dimensions, and push to Essbase.
If this is a security issue, what assignment should I provision to enable the user to see these shared dims. Many thanks.

Give that user the rights of
Dimension Editor found under Foundation Service --> Shared Service --> EPMA Administrator and then try again.
    Thanks.

  • EPMA shared dimension Aliases

    Hi,
We have a EPMA application where few of our dimensions are shared. Our flat file imports have loaded the aliases to one of the dimesnsions to the shared library and everything is in sync with the application. . But we are not able to see those aliases in data form and when we check the application in dimension library for aliases it shows this message"The Associated Dimension ID has not been set for this property."
Update: the aliases are not deployed in essbase for those members.
    please do help us out.
    thanks,
    Edited by: sj1208 on Jan 8, 2013 1:13 AM

Was able to find the solution from oracle support link.
*Aliases Not Retained When Copying Dimension From Shared Library [ID 1435928.1]*
Use a shared Alias dimension, rather than using a local Alias. If the alias dimension is a shared rather than a local dimension then the dimension member aliases will be retained when you copy a dimension from the Shared Library to an Application Library.
    thanks,

    Hi mazhar.ali,
Do you explicitly reference a DLL in your code?
What is the size of your code?  (The FP-2010 only has 32 Mbytes of RAM, so if you're trying to deploy and run your code from RAM, this might be something to take into account.)  (How Much Memory Does My FieldPoint Controller Have?)

  • Need help setting up a shared /Library/Fonts folder for font sharing

    Hi,
I have a problem setting up a shared /Library/Fonts folder on my OSX 10.5.5 server that gets automounted on the OSX 10.5.x clients.
While I managed to get the folder to show up automatically under /Network/Library/Fonts on the clients, the fonts in these folders do not show up in Font Book on the client systems. Plus, it seems like there is some sort of language mismatch, since I am using a German OSX installation. While the shared /Library/Fonts folder does show up under the "Network" area (where the servers are listed), it does not connect correctly on the "/Netzwerk" folder that OS X creates automatically. In fact there are 2 folders named "/Netzwerk" on my startup drive root directory, one that reads "/Network" when looking at it in the terminal, and one named "/Netzwerk". The /Network one does have a working link to the /Library folder, and the /Netzwerk one does only contain something looking like an alias of /Library, but it does not allow any access to this alias.
If anybody did manage to get this Netowrk "/Library/Fonts" to work I would be happy for some feedback. I am simply not sure if this is related to a localization bug, or if I am doing something wrong here. The fact that the folder and the fonts does show up correctly under the network portion of the sidebar seems to indicate that my setup is correct, but still the fonts do not work.
Any ideas, or maybe a step-by-step description on how to set this up would be great.
    Thanks a lot,
    Floh

Hi, Sorry I don't have an answer for you. But how did you get to share /Library/Fonts? I was trying to do the same thing by using "File Sharing" in Server administrator. But under volumes, I don't see my root directory "/". So there is no way that I can share any of my folders under "/".
    Thanks.

  • Rename a member in shared library

and then do deployment, say rename A to B, i suppose data for A will not be lost and B will have them?
did not see about this in doc, but if rename cause data loss then EPMA would be too bad product,:)

    user12291444 wrote:
    Thanks!
I used EPMA profile to update the member, if a member name is changed in data source,
how can i know if the member in shared library is renamed or delete/add by import through profile? If by datasource you mean Essbase, then all changes done in Essbase will be overwritten during the next deployment by the values set in EPMA. But this way, since it will be an overwrite of the member in the outline rather than a renaming, you will probably lost data (not 100% sure though).

  • IPhoto, iWeb & shared library

    Hi,
Is it possible to have a (home) network with a multi & full accessed read/write iPhoto library?
I've an old PowerPC MacMini primarily used (like a NAS) as a central storage device. It contains my music, photo libraries etc which are further stored on a connected Iomega 300G Hard Disk. My photo library runs under iPhoto 5.0.4.
My other (and primary) machine is my laptop, MacBook Pro, where I want to do all my work - such as publishing photos, maintaining web-site. I don't want to store my music/photos on any of my laptops, I want them centralised.
The first problem I have is that I cannot export to iWeb on my MBP when I use my shared library (with iPhoto 6.0.6). The option is greyed out - presumably standard for shared libraries.
The second problem is that I will get another laptop soon (MacBook) and would like to be able to add photos to my library from any of my Macs. I don't want to have to unplug my Iomega hard disk and attach it to whatever Mac I am using.
Is it possible to overcome these limitations?
I tried sharing my MacMini and changing my MBP iPhoto library to the mount point - but using afp the external 'Volumes' are not shown. So I tried using Samba - but it doesn't always show up, doesn't auto-mount, and iPhoto on the MBP complained that it didn't have write-access.
In the Mac world, there must be an easier way?
    TIA

If I understand correctly, you have two computers. One of them has an external hard drive connected to it and you want to know how to make that available to another computer, correct?
If this is the scenario, for ease of reference, let's name the computers. We'll call the computer with the external hard drive Scrooge. The one that wants access to the hard drive we'll call Cratchet. One way to give Cratchet access to Scrooge's hard drive is through firewire. Assuming that both have an available firewire port, you can do the following:
(This process may not be perfect, since I am not set up to test it at the moment, but...)
    1. Plug them in through firewire (both hot)--do NOT put one in transfer mode.
    2. On Scrooge, go to the sharing portion of the system preferences and activate:
    a. personal filesharing
    b. remote login
    3. On Cratchet, go to the network portion of the system preferences and:
    a. Select "Built-in FileWire" from the "Show" pull-down menu.
    b. Under the TCP/IP setting, select "Using DHCP"
    c. Push the button "Configure IPv6.."
Unless I am mistaken, this should prepare Cratchet to see Scrooge.
    4. Now Cratchet should be able to connect to Scrooge using the "Connect to server" command in the Finder menus as normal. When you do connect, you will have to log on. When it prompts you for what disk to mount, simply select the hard drive that you want to work on.
    5. Once you have mounted the desired hard drive, you can save yourself time in the future by ctrl-clicking the hard drive's icon on the desktop and making an alias of it. Then in the future, you can (after plugging-in the firewire) double click on this alias and enter your password to access it.
PS: If desired, you can also tell Scrooge to share his internet connection with the firewire connected computer (if relevant) in his network preferences--kind of cool, huh?
    I hope this helps.

  • EPMA Dimension Library - Remove Members

I like to find if there is any way to remove members from EPMA dimension library (using batch client) other than using REPLACE method in import profile definition.
We get delta file from DRM in ADS format i.e the file will only have new members and we need to define process to handle the removed members from DRM. Is there any property or Flag available that can be tagged to remove the member in EPMA?
we decided to go with delta file as we have around 40,000 members and it would be effecient if we use delta file rather than a complete upload everytime the members changes. Please advice if it is good decision to go with delta or we should use complete file.
    Thanks
    RR

I think with the only option with the batch client is the "Remove Member" command.
Removes a member from the specified dimension but does not delete it. You can only use the Remove Member command to remove a shared dimension in an application.
    Remove Member
    Properties(DimensionName, ParentName, MemberName)
    Values('Account', 'Mem1', ‘Mem2’);

  • Importing duplicate members for planning appln - EPMA Dimension Library

    Hi,
How to import duplicate members while importing dimensions using flat file in EPMA Dimension Library (11.1.2.1).
We have Isprimary column which enables multiple instances of a member as shared members, but how to import duplicate members in EPMA?
    From the EPMA Guide:
Specifying Primary and Shared Instances of a Member using IsPrimary
In import files, any two members in the same dimension, with the same name, are always treated
as separate instances of the same member. If a member has multiple instances in a dimension,
the IsPrimary column specifies which instance is primary and which instance(s) are shared. The
IsPrimary column is not required; however, we strongly recommend that you use it. If left
undefined, it defaults to “True”, which assumes that the member is primary. If left undefined,
a warning is displayed in the Import Results file.
Note: Older import files, that do not use the IsPrimary column, can still be run. However, if the
import file does not have the IsPrimary column, it is not possible to create shared members
    or move members.
    Thanks in advance.

As you are talking about a planning application then duplicate members are not supported but Shared members are.
    Cheers

  • Duplicate members in EPMA dimension library

    Hi,
There are two instances of many members in Account dimension in EPMA dimension library in UAT environment. I am trying to migrate the Account dimension to Dev using LCM. When i do the LCM import, all the second instances are getting imported as shared members and the import fails as the children are orphaned. However there are no errors in UAT when i validate the application. The hierarchies of two instances are associated to different planning applications.
    The error is
The 'Member' section contains a duplicate entry; the subsequent input line 'NB AWP|Revenue||||||None|Currency||False|False|False|False|N|False|||False|False|N|Default|0|0|Default|None||Plan2|1|Balance|False|Numeric|||||False|NonExpense|False||' will not be processed.
Is there a way to import the dimension as it is in the UAT environment?
    Regards,
    Ragav.

  • Unable to see shared library

I searched for and read about a dozen previous posts on this subject but was unable to find a solution. Not only can I not see any shared library but I don't even have a "shared" menu item on either PC as described in the help file. It should show up under the Library>Music heading?
    Both PC's:
    ...can connect to the internet
...can transfer files back and forth
...can see each others "Shared Docs" directory
...have iTunes and Bonjour listed as exceptions in Windows Firewall
...have the latest verions of iTunes and Bonjour
When I point the iTunes Music Folder location on the 'remote' PC to the iTunes Music Folder on the 'host' PC, it finds it, see's it, and then asks if I want to update (the view)? to match? I said yes. Still the same list of songs that are physically on the remote PC and nowhere does it say anything about sharing or give any indication that it is aware of the host library.
    What am I not getting?

"iTunes Sharing, the built-in feature, has nothing to do with pointing your iTunes Music folder setting to a shared folder on another computer. Those are two separate features/capabilities."
Yes, I get that - I was just trying everything I could think of to make it see my shared library.
"do you have Sharing and "Look for shared" turned on in the iTunes Sharing preferences?"
    Yes.
"you want to have your iTunes library using the shared folder on your other computer, you need to use the Add Folder to Library command to get the tracks into the iTunes library listing"
Not quite sure what your getting at here. The help file for sharing the entire library gives 3 simple steps and then says "its name appears in the iTunes window (below Shared) on other local computers (in the same subnet) set up to look for shared libraries." - obviously this is not happening.
The whole reason to share and use the host library is specifically to avoid having to manually add tracks/folders from the remote PC.
