Alias in Forms

In Planning you have the option to select Alias or MemberName for the Page\Point of View Dimensions. If you have more than one Alias how can you specify which alias for the forms to use ?

Thank you for your help. I didn't know about the setting under Application Administration. Do you know if this setting will effect Financial Reports ? If we have set some members to print member name & alias will the alias now be switched to the new default ?

Web.show_document in Forms 11g

Hi, I've migrating my application from forms 6i to forms 11g.
In my application I use web.show_document to open some document using the http alias defined in httpd.conf under Oracle iSuites Http Server
in httpd.conf I define
Alias /my_document_folder/ "c:/document/"
and in my application code
web.show_document('/my_document_folder/my_document.doc');
How can I define the alias http alias for Forms 11g

Hi All,
I am facing some issue while seeing the report using web.show_document as shown below:
https://ucrmskr.apac.nsroot.net:10301/forms/html/001725032_gca.rtf_
In this case the report opens directly without asking for me to save or open or cancel option
whereas if I hit
http://scrmskr.apac.nsroot.net:7801/forms/html/001725032_gca.rtf_
it asks for save or open or cancel option
so that I can save the report to my machine and open in wordpad format
The report generated in the first case is not coming in proper format

Forms 11g and FRM-40010

Hi,
i have installed Forms 11g (11.1.1.3) on a local machine , when i try to run a form on teh local disk it work properly, but when i copy the fmb on a network folder ( called T:)
it give to me the error FRM-40010 .
any idea ???

i have try to put in Formsweb.cfg the real path where teh form is
--> form=\\win2008\ids_11\Test.fmx <-- in these case it works , but if i put the alias (t:) --> form=t:\test.fmx <-- not work
when i develop i can modifiy every tiem the formsweb.cfg to test the new form.
I have also try to modify the Env file i put the complete path --> \\win2008\ids_11\.... and the alias T: , nothing to due
sure i can develop on the local disk and the move the file to the network folder but is a little uncomfortable

System and System Alias Creation

Hi all,
we have developed iViews in EP5. Now we want to migrate all our iViews to Ep6.. we have problem in EP6 for system and system alias creation..
in EP5 we have 2 files called System.xml for defining the system and JCODestination.xml..
after creating systems in System.xml.. we will define all system properties in like router string ,client no,and system number for each sap system in JCODestination.xml ..
and these systems we will map to the user in which will come all the defined Systems to combo box
and we will define the systems in default.properties file and we will use in the par development...
I heared that there are no System.xml and JCODestination.xml files in EP6 Netweaver Component....
can you please any one advise me how to get configured System and System Alias in EP6 NetWever... and how to call in coding...

After following the steps above in system landscape
please do the following to fill in the parameters
Select connector under the property category.
PlZ make sure that you have provided ApplicationHost(the host name of backend system), LogicalSystemName(can be found from transaction scc4,just dounle click on the client to see the logical name use saplogon and logon to the backend system R3 in this case) ,SAP Client(can be found from transaction code scc4), SAP SystenID,SAP System Number and Server port.
After that create a System Alias for that system by selecting System Aliases under display.( This is important. I had the same kind of problem this should slove it).
Now make sure that you have user mapping set for the backend R3 System(User Administration-->User Maping search for the user and choose edit. Then choose the system alias name form the drop down box and provide the login details for the backend system).
Try to test the connection by selecting connection tests under display. If it doesnot work plz copy paste the whole error message.
The message should look something like the one below
Test Connection with Connector - Jan 1, 1970 2:35:42 PM
Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
1. Retrieve the default alias of the system
2. Check the connection to the backend application using the connector defined in this system object
Results
Retrieval of default alias successful
Connection successful

Delete my account (want different alias)

OK: I just registered, but I only wanted to use my first name as my alias, but forms auto-fill threw in my last name automatically...
I read that I can't change my alias.
So I want to delete this account, and create a new one with my apple ID.
How can I delete this account to start over with a new alias?

You could choose never to use the current account again.
Log out and re-register, setting up another new account.
Watch that auto-fill!

Cannot set up HP officejet pro 8500 909n

I can use the print function by wireless connection from two different computers, but, NOT the scan, fax, or email functions.
The HP software does not recognize the path to my public Drop Box for scans and Fax Box for faxes. It appears to ignore the "users" and "username" folders although these were specified during setup.
HP error message when trying to set up scan-to-email feature.
Duplicate display or location name. Please assign a different name and try again.
Can find no definition for “display or location name” Email setup uses alias email forms, so that typed name will not remain as typed.
Possible need for upgraded driver from HP.

A way to put stuff on ipod without also having it on my computer?

I'm eating up my computer's memory with albums and pictures and such that I only need on my ipod. I realize that I need to put it on my computer to get it onto my ipod but is there a way that, once I have sync-ed everything from my harddrive to my ipod, that it could stay on my ipod and be removed from my computer? Can I just transfer it or move it to my ipod from my computer instead of synching it?

You can certainly erase your iTunes library or your photos or whatever else after you sync your iPod. Just realize that when, not if, you lose everything on your iPod, you'll need to get everything back on your Mac in order to get it back on your iPod. If they don't exist on your Mac, you can't put them back on your iPod. Also, if you add music or photos after erasing the other stuff, and you sync your iPod again, you'll only get the new stuff - the old stuff that you've erased will be gone. You simply need more storage space if you have a lot of stuff to store.
One possibility I can think of would be to get an external firewire HD. You can store all the stuff in your iPhoto Library and your iTunes Library on that. To do this, go to your home folder. Open the Music folder and locate the iTunes Library folder. Drag it to the external HD. Wait for it to copy. Then, after your sure it copied correctly, delete the iTunes library form your Macbook. Next, create an alias (File-Make Alias) of the iTunes Library of the iTunes Library folder on your external HD. You can then move the alias to the Music folder in your Home folder on the Macbook's HD. Remove the "alias" part form the name on your Macbook HD. When iTunes launches, the alias on the HD will point it to the actual folder on the external HD. You can repeat the process with your iPhoto Library and any other folders you need.

Problem with Google Mail

Google Mail supports aliases via extending the mail adress with +<alias> http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12096 I tried to register twice with an alias, the form shows no error on submit, but I never received a confirmation email. Maybe the registration has a problem with a '+' sign within an e-mail address?

perhaps the plus is a problem.
I've found it doesn't like a double dot in the address.

Form & Reports Server uses the wrong alias (localhost.localdomain)

We installed Oracle Application Server 9i (1.0.2.2.1) on a RedHat 7.1 machine. The database (8.1.7) is installed on another computer with RedHat 6.2 installed.
At the installation something goes wrong. He took the localhost.localdomain as alias for the computername and inserted this in some scripts - a large part of them are APACHE scripts.
Rerun the SSODATAN script solved the problem with the login server.
Install.log contains no errors!
But we have not found the points where the forms- and reportsserver is registerd.
It is possible to edit this entries by hand or is there a possiblity to install the forms- and report server manually.

Hyperion Planning Data form alias issue

Hi,
I am using Hyperion Planning version 11.1.2.2. I created data form and after member selection is over I selected alias in dimension properties. But when I am opened the data form I see member names but not alias. I want to see alias name in the data form instead of member name. Please give me solution to this?

In the later releases you now as a user override the data form setting with your own personal user preferences.
Navigate to FIle->User Preferences and then Planning. In there within the display properties you will see an area for Alias settings. There is an option for member name/alias display. Make your selection there.

XML Form Error: java.lang.RuntimeException: No system found for alias

We are currently having an issue with our XML forms. When we try to access our XML forms we receive the following error:
java.lang.RuntimeException: No system found for alias SAP_R3_QWA
Is there a place within the forms to set the system alias?

Have you installed the DMS Connector for KM?
I can imagine that this issue is related to an incorrect version of the DMS Connector for KM (regardless of whether you are using the DSMRM or not).
In that case you can do the following to correct the issue:
1) Undeploy your current version of 'DMS Connector for KM'
2) Download the latest version of 'DMS Connector for KM' from Service Marketplace and deploy it to your portal
3) Restart J2EE engine after deployment

Opening web form in SmartView 11.1.2.103 - display name and alias

Through some useful forum here, I have upgraded our SmartView, APS and Essbase to version 11.1.2.103 in order to display name and alias in SmartView. However, since I am very new to Hyperion overall, I am still exploring whether it is my limited knowledge with the product or if it's limitation of the product. My client wants to open up an existing web form in SmartView and shoe name and alias in separate columns. Is this possible? I have tried many combinations but I was only able to open up the form in SmartView having name and alias in single column. Any tips and tricks to achieve what I want will be greatly appreciated.

This is by design. There was strong customer feedback asking for the ability to show the POV in the first row and not have the POV toolbar on. This feedback came from longtime Essbase customers and partners. If you click the POV button this row gets hidden and you can use the toolbar just like you did in the past in Smart View (no loss of functionality). For Essbase the default is to show the POV on the sheet.
We have continued improvements planned but here are some of the key point that drove this change:
1 - Printing the POV - Having the POV on the sheet gives the user the ability to format and print using native Excel functionality.
2 - Flexible Freeform - With the POV on the sheet the user can easily change their POV or the grid orientation by typing or using native Excel formulas, list features, or VBA.
3 - Ability to copy grids from one sheet to another with no loss of the POV. Simply copy and paste.

Displaying alias in data form

I wanty to display Alias of a member in teh dataform.
I have selected display type for the member as alias but stiill its not displaying alias.
How can we do this?

If you go to "dimension" in admin do you see alias? If you don't then you won't see them in your forms either
If you go to current application defaults what do you see for alias? this should be set to "default"
is this specific to this form or all forms? if you can see it in other forms then you are missing a checkbox in your form somewhere (compare the forms)
are you using EPMA or classic? if EPMA can you see it in the dimension library?
If you are doing everything right it should display no problem. You are unfortunately missing something and there is a bunch of things to check.

Alias Tables on Data Forms

I am wondering if in Hyperion Planning has the capability to use custom alias table on data forms, right now we use the default alias on our forms. I want to use our "short name" alias on data forms so that our department name are not so long. Is this possible?

I think you are correct. I couldn't find a way to change the alias table on specific forms. I also checked an LCM export and look at the form in xml file and did not notice an option there either.
I also tried openning a form in SmartView and no luck there either. Planning Ad Hoc works though, but I am not sure if it would work for your requirement.
