Alias listed in iCloud, but can't receive mail.

Somehow in my migration to iCloud, I lost one of my alias'.  I only have 2, so I'm not over the 3 limit. And when I login to iCloud online, and look at my aliases, it is listed there (two version, one @me and one @mac). But, if I try to send an email to it, I'm told it doesn't exist.  I tried it with both the @me and @mac, and I tried to add it again and it told me I already had that alias.
Because the actual email that I had been using for the past 7 years or so was the @mac, I'd rather not delete and create it again, since then it will only be @me, and I will have to track down everything that is using the @mac address. I might have to do that anyway, but if I don't have to, that would be great.
This is the message I get when I try to send to either alias:

  • Can get mail but can not receive mail.

Had a problem with receiving mail on an account so we deleted the account and re-added it. And it worked. Same thing is now happening to another user ad we tried the same thing but the user is still not getting mail.
Running 10.4.10. any help would be great. Not entirely new to server, but to troubleshooting the mail side I am beginner.
Also having a weird problem where old accounts, after they have been deleted still show up under server admin- mail - maintenance - accounts. Not a big problem just weird.

OK... to recap: You have a user, you send email to user, user checks email, user does not get email?
On the server, can you check the mail queue (in Server Admin or on the command line with mailq) to see if mail for that user's id is stuck in the queue? Mail can be stuck in the active queue without throwing any error messages your way. In my experience, and the experience of a few others on the board, this can be due to problems connecting to the user's home directory server.

  • Can Send Mail, But Can't Receive Mail (Post Safari 3.1 & Security Update)

    Weird!
I was able to receive mail when I first came in today, but since updating this morning to Safari 3.1 and Security Update, unable to receive messages.
In "Activity Viewer", I can see Mail trying to get messages but stalls on "Fetching new mail...", "[INBOX - XXX] Updating cache, comparing notes on server...", and "Synchronizing with server... Traversing mailbox hierarchy..."
Not sure if it's related to updates, but it sure seems like it
The IT guys here at work are VERY PC-biased and tend to blame these type of things on "those Macs", so I could use your help!!!

Yeah, I'm having problems as well since the update. I get a message from the mail app that says
Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificate issued to "mail.mac.com". The error was:
An SSL error occurred while trying to read data from the server "mail.mac.com". Verify that this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct.
You might be connecting to a computer that is pretending to be "mail.mac.com", and putting your confidential information at risk. Would you like to continue anyway?
    I've not encountered this before.

  • TS3899 Cannot send mail, but can still receive mail.  Solution?

Cannot send an email but can receive one.  Solution?

    Hi,
I'm having the same problem as Ed. "smtp.me.com" send error.
When I got the iPhone I followed mobileme sync between my computer and the iPhone from iTunes.
My mobileme sends and receives mail from my Mail app on my computer.
I tried to change the SSL server port # on the iPhone but it is grey and not able to be changed. I think port #25 works too. But, mail on my computer uses 587 which the iPhone is set to, but it's not working.
I can send and receive mail from my yahoo and another POP3 account.
Any ideas of how I can get my mobileme mail to send on my iphone? Thanks.

  • Incoming email settings same as iPhone but can't receive mail

Have exactly the same email/server settings on my iPad as on my iPhone but I cannot receive incoming mail? Doesn't recognize the server???

It's funny that you say that.  This has happened to me a couple of times.  Even though you set the added account with identical parameters, the original refuses to work but the replacement works fine.  You know the original account is set up correctly because it used to work before it mysteriously stopped.

  • TS4002 I can send email in iCloud, but can't receive

I have iCloud and have gone through troubleshooting. I can send email through my me.com account, but cannot receive.

reset the server, re enter your e-mail. go online and find the server title and then enter it in your phone and you should get e-mails. What do you use for e-mail, hotmail, gmail, yahoo mail?

Here is what I did to resolve the problem:
In Mail/preferences/accounts/account information/ and at the bottom of the box there is a toggle arrow up and down to edit the outgoing mail server, check the box "use only this server" and  hit this toggle button and select "edit SMTP Server List" at the very bottom of the email names.
Select Advanced tab.  Correct and/or add usernames and passwords as needed for each email account.  Be sure to select OK each time to get the passwords to hold!  Some changes don't seem to hold unless you click OK before you move on.
To test:       Window/activity (a little windows will pop up showing activity bars)   and then "get mail" button.  This should show any problems
    Another test:  window/connection doctor
This shouldl fix both pop and imap.  so far it worked on yahoo, mobile me, gmail, hotmail, and others.  Of course, you will need to know the incoming and outgoing mail server info, user name, and passwords.
Too bad we have to go though hoops to use an email program that used to work well.  Worse yet, many may not know for days that their email isn't working.
This is easy method of setting up your email accounts but may not allow enough detail to make the mail accounts function properly in Mail 5.0:

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend starting with the steps in this article if you are not able to send mail:

That is (or was) a Mobile Me server, now closed down. The correct servers are
imap.mail.me.com and smtp.mail.me.com (outgoing), but this should have been set automatically, did you completely sign out of iCloud (System Preferences>iCloud and is Mail activated in Mail, Contacts and Calendars as well as iCloud?
If you are still signed in at System Preferences>Mobile Me, sign out.

  • Receiving mail fine, but can't send mail

For some reason, my outgoing mail servers are all showing offline. I can receive mail fine. I have my own domain names, and they are all housed on the same host. My boss has one of the same domains and he can send and receive mail fine. I can receive mail, but can't send mail out unless I use my gmail server to send. All my other domains are showing offline on the outgoing. How do I get them back online, and is this a Macmail problem (my boss uses Entourage), or is it a problem with my Qwest DSL? I don't know where to start.
I did call the place where our domains are hosted and all is OK there.
    Thanks,
    Carole

Problem - Cannot send eMail - pop up box says smtp server needs password - if password used this is not recognised.
Solution - Go to Mail>preferences choose Accounts, select one of the accounts.
Look at 'outgoing mail' server, shows ' smtp.(name of server.com) (offline)' then click on it and choose 'edit smtp server list' - the box will show description - '(name of server)', server name - 'smtpmail.(server name.com)' and in use by account - '(account name)'
press the '-' button and the above details will disappear.
Press '+' button and type in 'smtpmail.(server name).com' in the server name box - if you are prompted to save changes, click 'OK' - this may only happen when changing the first account ..
All should now be OK and you can now check if eMail can be sent..
Open an 'unsent eMail' in the Outbox by double clicking on it and clicking 'send' it should be sent.

Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

  • TS3276 Mail account set up. Can not receive mail-Everything is green in Connection doctor but when checking activity it shows stop signs.  Was able to receive mail until last week  then all of a sudden stopped receiving mail but no changes were made.

My mail account has been set up and working to send and receive mail for several months.  All of a sudden I can not receive mail.  The connection doctor shows all green lights.  No changes have been made and nothing has been changed on preferences on IMAP and SMTP.  I can send mail.  My other accounts all send and receive mail.  When you click on activity the list shows stop signs. All accounts show that they are online.

    UPDATE:
I deleted all the messages off the server of the offending email address and everything works fine now.

You don't mention anything about the music files on your computer that were used to copy into iTunes. If you have moved those files to a different location on you PC you will get that error message from iTunes. This is because iTunes will look for the music files in the original location that they came from on your PC when they were copied. If this is the case you have to tell iTunes to look in the new location for the music files or move the music files back to the original location.
