I got the SDK and XMPDumper working. I picked an arbitrary jpg of a picture I have and dumped the XMP to a file and then went looking through it. I bumped into this: <rdf:Description rdf:about='' xmlns:pdf='http://ns.adobe.com/pdf/1.3/'>     </rdf:Description> So I went looking through the spec for "alias" and found only this: NOTE: Previous versions of this specification referred to aliased properties. Specific XMP implementations may treat a property in one schema as equivalent to a property in another schema. However, to foster interchange, applications must always write the standard, base form of the property. In this version of the specification, only the base properties are listed. So, this caused me to go look at the pdf schema in the spec (I'm looking in "XMP Specification" January 2004) and the pdf schema documented does not mention anything about the four values that are listed above. Sorta depressing. So, two questions: 1) Can someone point me to how fields are aliased? 2) Can someone point me to up to date documentation about Adobe's Schemas? In particular, I'm curious about the "NativeDigest" property that are in the exif and tiff schema (at least when the XMP data is dumped by XMPDumper). Thanks, Perry

From my understanding an aliased field is simply represented by a field in another schema. In this particular case, I am assuming that the pdf aliases refer to the following aliases:
pdf:ModDate -> xmp:ModifyDate
pdf:CreationDate -> xmp:CreateDate
pdf:Creator -> xmp:CreatorTool
pdf:Author -> dc:creator

Let the countdown begin!!!!! Less then 24 hours until the date IOS4 is available. This is my phone upgrade!!! Anybody else not able to get an upgrade until march 2011 or later? If so are you going to wait until June to get the newest iPhone version 4G I assume or get the upgrade as soon as you can? Me I'll wait the extra few months and get the newest iPhone version. I assume it will be Iphone 4G.

Are you completely sure this won't be the last version? I know that seems unlikely but they may decide to go with something totally different for the next version. Also 4G is a joke since AT&T isn't rolling it out til late 2011 or early 2012. Besides where I live there isn't even 3G so ***** to be me. LOL

I don't know the point spread ( if there is one yet ) but I'm thinking it's time to pony up and put some bets on the superbowl...
Having watched the playoffs and getting a general idea what's up with the teams ( strength and so on )... I'm thinking Ravens.
Anyone have any preferences or predictions ?? Anyone wanna bet some beers, yoodles or wine on this thing ?? I'm game !
I say Ravens, and I would at this point say they win by 7. But I may change my mind as I hear what everyone else is mulling over etc...
I don't mean I'd pick SF, but I might not expect an outright blowout of 7 points for the Ravens.

First, I am not a NYT fan, BUT that IS a great article.
I lived the Archie Manning era, first by attending Ole Miss, during his freshman year (they kicked me out, fairly early, as did most universities in the South). Still, I was there, one dorm away, when he started. Everyone knew that he was "the stuff of greatness," even back then. The last time that I really bet on football was in his senior year, IIRC, when he led Ole Miss against LSU (one of the bigger rivalries in NCAA Football, regardless of how well, or poorly, either team is doing, and nearly always a toss-up) with his arm in a cast. He was so hot, leading into that game, that I bet $50 on Ole Miss, straight up. By the half, he was doing great, cast and all, and Ole Miss was up. My roommate, an LSU alum, upped the bet, though the Tigers were down. We had $100 riding on the game. Well, Archie's success was short-lived, and by the 4th quarter, it was obvious that LSU would win. I paid my debt early (though at one moment, it looked like Archie would rally the team), and that was that. Never again have I done more than some pool (I seem to win most of those, however?).
We followed Archie's career closely, as we were married in 1971. I recall the draft, and at the exact instant that Archie was drafted, a crawl came across the TV, telling viewers where to get their "Archie Is a Saint" front license plates. In LA, they only use rear license plates, so the front of most autos has some sort of "statement" plate, like "Who Dat?," or "Go Saints," etc. By the next morning, whoever had produced those, had sold out. There were small riots in the streets, and the first batch of plates was the "most stolen" articles for a week, in New Orleans.
Billy Kilmer had been the quarterback for the Saint, up until the beginning of pre-season. He had never done well, but was a veteran, and the Saints stated that Manning would sit on the bench, learning from Kilmer. Well, that never happened. Before Archie would even get used to finding the "bench," Kilmer was traded to Washington, where he actually did amazingly well - especially as every pass the man threw was a "wounded duck," wobbling through the air, only somewhat close to the intended receiver - still, he did achieve a modicum of greatness. Archie was thrust into the mix, leading a rag-tag group of miscreants every Sunday. Thrown immediately into the fire, Manning showed that he had spirit, heart, talent and a real desire to win. He was a hard worker, and a great leader - however the team that he was to lead changed hourly, as did his head coaches. It was horrible. Though the details are hazy now, it seems that in the last pre-season game, Kilmer started, but was traded at half-time, so Manning came out for his first NFL start. He lined up behind the Right Tackle, and stuck his hands into the man's crotch, starting to call the play. The Tackle pointed to the Center, and said "Move over one." Not a great start.
We sat through every home game, and some close-by away games, from 1971 through 1980, when we moved to Colorado. I do not recall missing many, if any. Those were painful days and evenings. While I never wore the "Aint's bag," we were there though those days.
When we left, my B-I-L picked up the tickets, and still has them - at least the pain has remained in the family.
After his retirement from the Vikings, Sports Illustrated did a story on him. I expected it to be a real hit-piece, but it was anything but. They detailed his entire career, and factually, from what I could tell. In that story, it was recounted that during a big game, with the Saints trailing by less than a touchdown, and them driving, a play was run into the huddle. The reciever, who brought in the play was to be the target. Archie looked at him, and asked, "Just who the hell are you?" It seems that the receiver had been signed during the 1st quarter, and Archie had never thrown him a pass - heck, he had never seen him before that moment!
While I cannot recall New Orleans changing coaches during half-time, it was almost that bad. The SI article listed every head coard for the Saints, during Manning's career, and it was amazing. Some, I could not even recall, and we had season tickets!
While our support of the Saints was NOT predicated on Archie Manning (we bought season tickets in their first season, and prior to Manning's coming, they were a horrible joke), I will say that his boys have been a reason for us to follow the Colts and NY Giants, where we would likely not have. Now, with Payton at Denver (my other "home team"), it's like having Archie sign with the Saints.
Other than the SI article, and this one, few really know the story of Archie Manning. Fortunately, his legacy has grown, far beyond his career with the hapless Saints.
Next time in New Orleans, I ought to knock on his door. He would never remember me, as Ole Miss did the right thing, and rid the campus of people like me, but I feel obligated to say "thank you," though the football, that we supported with our time, and our $ was horrible - but not because he lacked heart, intelligence or talent. It was through no fault of his own.

While we have two brothers facing off in the Superbowl, I would have preferred having the brothers being the Manning boys instead. Oh well, such is life. Hope that I can wrangle out of any Superbowl parties, and just catch bits and pieces of the game, while doing other things.

Spoke to my lender and went over everything. I was going to wait till December to start the mortgage application for two reasons: working on scores to go up and also using a bonus for downpayment. Scores have gone up recently and last time I checked my medium mortgage score sat at 691. Of course, I also have few inquiries as I opened new credit cards with the most recent one being Venture card last month. I went over all this with lender and he simply said that was no issue. He said it was go time! So I pulled the plug and submitted everything today. Within one mile radious from where I am renting homes go from 200k to 1mil+. The market here is crazy and ltos of bidding wars going on. This will probably be a big issue for me. Asking for 350k, but if I can find home in the 200k range then I am jumping all over that deal! My lease is up in August so I hope timing works out for me. Ok.....it's five o'clock somewehere, right?!?

This is very impressive and so i guess Apple will starting listening to us Logic-Users and start taking us users very serious with ideas as Nekio and Meko as taking an idea that i had a year ago as for about Clone-ing Midi like Meko-Neko as done.
On Windows Platform, and i was amazing to see that the I/O in the system is the Delta 1010 therefore Pro-tools is Ahead again.
That just showed i was right all along, Apogee has been unfair with what they gave us on the mac-Platform Ensemble, and because it was made for mac i when out and bought one.
Apple please i beg of you to let us Logic users test things stuff out before they are launch at least this way we'll know what best as it is us that makes the music and depend on music as a daily part of our life,
Now looking at how they integrate stuff on the Meko/Neko makes me feel happy for windows but at the same time leave me dissapointed in Apple and the way every thing takes too long, and no feed-back and we are behind as Logic was always before or even ahead of Technology.
This new unit even works with independ Converters, so i am just guessing are we really going forward or backward, as i had to go backward to go forward with Ensemble and Mac-Pro to Delta 1010 and Dual G5 2.5
and then to find out that this unit use's the Delta 1010,
i also spoke to Diggi-Design when i tested the oo2 very good result on 002.

all i am saying is why is it we Logic user's feel left out if not all at least i do, we need better support as to what works and would like to help test things, as there is two side to a Coin, and of course another if the Coin is upright.
There is a feature that Clone's Midi as well as Audio in Meco & Neco in there software, where as having 100 Keyboards you could upload it that way you could just have one Keyboard giving you 100 of your favorite Keyboards sounds, you know how long i have been asking for such Feature, now its out there and would be nice to have.
Secondly few people thinks Ensemble it great can't blame them however i did a Shoot-out with Ensemble, Fire-face 800, Digi-002 and Delta 1010,
with my testing it was the worst in every way except with the integration with Apple, other than that its n where near Apple's standard, and is the worst interface i have ever heard, and the Con is its made for Apple.
300 new features in Leopard, Time-Machine and Stock is a Gem on the updated OSX however is there anything in Leopard that brings the Logic users to the Table, None and if there is any i am yet to see.

Now in logic 8 key feature has been strip, making any pro user upset and hard to work efficiently as they would have done in Logic 7, which i guess should be the lower version of Logic, this might sound ludicrous as i can't spell properly posting on here, but i sure know what suppose to be a reputable product.
There is so much i don't even want to go on about it, all i would like to see is just support and a maintenance of Logic.

The startup.exe file is locate in the \NI-RT\STARTUP directory. 'cd NI-RT' then 'cd STARTUP' should get you to the right place after making the connection with ftp. I don't recognize PH_EXEC.EXE. Logging in as anonymous is fine. I don't recall seeing documentation on the file structure and locations on the module but I'm sure there is some. I just wandered around w/ftp.
The program to update the node should be below. Enter the IP address, the green light will confirm the node is found.
The version function scans the existing startup.exe for a string beginning and ending with " RU Version " and prints everything in between as the version.
The autostart function will copy the existing ni-rt.ini file to your computer, mod
ify the autostart as requested, then put the file back. Leaves the copy on the PC, which can be handy.
Send file will request a file of the format startup*.dat which will be renamed startup.exe and ftp'd to the module. Lets you keep version numbers in the filename on the PC side. Your directory structure probably won't match mine so you'll have to browse for your file.
Reboot module reboots the module.

I am trying to figure out how to let the printer (post script) determine the colors when printing in Acrobat 8. I have read in the user guide that I can configure Acrobat to allow the printer to determine the colors, I just haven't figured out how. Below is a clip from the user guide.

In this workflow, the application does no color conversion, but sends all necessary conversion information to the
output device. This method is especially convenient when printing to inkjet photo printers, because each combi
nation of paper type, printing resolution, and additional printing parameters (such as high-speed printing) requires
a different profile. Most new inkjet photo printers come with fairly accurate profiles built into the driver, so letting
the printer select the right profile saves time and alleviates mistakes. This method is also recommended if you are
not familiar with color management.
If you choose this method, it is very important that you set up printing options and turn on color management in
your printer driver. Search Help for additional instructions."
I have changed the color output in the print driver and I would like those settings to be applied when printing from Acrobat.

For PostScript printers (as opposed to PCL printers or raster printers with proprietary formats), Acrobat always generates the output (i.e., the PostScript) and passes that through the driver. The PostScript driver in fact doesn't generate or affect the generated PostScript except for certain device options such as tray and paper size selection, duplexing, etc. The color options of the PostScript driver are effectively ignored.
Also, in general, Adobe strongly recommends against the let printer determine color option. Beginning with Acrobat 9, the default is the Acrobat Color Management option. (Due to transparency flattening and other considerations, all color management and conversion to device colors, CMYK, should be done within Acrobat by the print process and not at the PostScript printer!)

If the Time Capsule is functioning normally, the hard drive will spin up automatically when a Time Machine backup begins and spin down after the backup is completed.
My Time Capsule normally runs for a minute or two for the backup each hour....otherwise the drive is not active.

Keep iPhone on wall charger for ten minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.

Have you try to un-select the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) setting?
Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Excel Options.
Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)
check box in the General area.
Click OK.
If the problem cannot resolve, the Run as administrator may selected.
Go to Office default install location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12.
Right-click EXCEL.EXE > Properties >
Compatibility tab.
Under Privilege Level, uncheck Run this program as an administrator
check box.

Where can you log a complaint/let the developers of Captivate 5 know there is an issue?

I was on a call with the help desk for 2 hours and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my project. When I publish it, it seems to publish fine but when I try to view it's just a black screen. I can't tell you everything they were having me do. Finally I decided to take 40 or so screens at a time and dump into a new project and publish. It worked, then another 40 pages, then another etc. and always published fine and I could view the project fine.
Then I copied in 6 pages of PPT and it was fine. My last page to copy in was the 1st page. I always have a graphic and then the title of the project come in as animated text. Publish and it's black. Took out the graphic, still black. Took out the text, everything was fine.
I created a number of different projects just a couple of pages long, had a regular screen, then a page with animimated text and black.
What I surmise is that you cannot have animimated text in a Captive 5 project. I want to let the developers know. I cannot tell you how frustrating this day has been, but at least I finally figured out why my 2 week long project wouldn't publish.

I'm having the same issue.
My Captivate project had one slide with animated text. First I tried deleting the animated text from the slide; then I deleted the entire slide from the project. Neither resolved the problem. I even tried removing all animation from the slides. Still no improvement.
My project was created in Captivate 4 and then converted to Captivate 5. Powerpoint was not used at all in the creation of the project. It uses extensive (but fairly basic) animation and video. Animated text is used on one slide only.
I am able to run the published file on another computer with Flash Player Version 10.1.85.3.
Like others, it is not an option for me to revert to a previous version since I cannot control the Flash Player version of my clients and learners.
I'm aware that Adobe is working on this issue and hope that they are able to resolve it VERY quickly. I have offered to share my Captivate file with Adobe if it would expedite problem resolution.

Take a look at this example, it uses property nodes to select tha
active plot and then changes the color of that plot.
If you want to make the number of plots dynamic you could use a for
loop and an array of color boxes.

The new battery will become less effective if you store it in a hot or humid environment. It should be stored at room temperature (22 C).

Hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. Can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. How to fix this, please?

I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. I think a big part of the problem is that someon one the internet (the hacker) was mirroring my hard drive. It seems to have locked up my system. I could be wrong about this guess, though. All I do know is that it is now looping on the last 4 iems, and I can't do anything.
Well, I can get it to turn on, but all it does is continously try to delete the last 4 items. When I try to reload Snow Leopard, it tells me my hard drive is full and that I need to delete items.
Can anyone help? I am so lost without my Mac. I am back on the PC, and though it works, I'm sure many of you will understand when I say it's just not a Mac.

Everything was going smoothly until I got to the reinstall part. I had to choose to reinstall on a hard drive or network drive. I've never used a network drive; just the hard drive. It seems that's where the troubles began. I selected the hard drive. It seemed to go well, and then I got the message that I needed to delete some files because I was out of space. I chose to get rid of my music files, but, there were only 636. I don't know what the rest of the files were. I was using the Secure Empty Trash command.
That was my first time doing an erase and install. I tried to do it again, but I now get a continuous error telling me that my hard drive is full and I must delete files. Only I can't delete files because 4 files are still being deleted and my computer won't let me stop the process.
I found out about the hackers mostly by the fact that whenever I used to watch something like Hulu or Netflix, I never had problems with internet connection or speed. Lately, I had internet connection problems. I went in to check my settings for my internet provider and found out the settings had been changed to public and all these extra computers were connected to my network.
