qualche utente italiano ha già avuto esperienze con ''alice''??
ovviamente non si tratta di una signorina ma del ''benedetto'' model wi fi di telecom che, udite udite, considera il fatto che l'IPAD non si connette ad internet ( ma al modem si) un problema tecnico che non dipende da loro (nonostante il modem sia a pagamento).
se qualcuno è riuscito a risolvere e mi riesce a spiegare come potrei abbreviare i tempi. ho cercato su internet ma esiste solo la spiegazione per il model W gate che è quello vecchio.

Aside form the limitation of LTE to the 700MHz and 2.1GHz bands (which rules out LTE in Europe I gather, at least as it stands now) the new iPad should let you use a GSM 3g/2g/edge network anywhere. The CDMA Verizon model will only be able to use it's native CDMA radio band in the USA (that radio will be locked to Verizon), but it's international GSM radio is the same as the AT&T model.
Keep in mind though that by far the cheapest option when abroad is to take advantage of free wifi as much as possible (well, that is always the cheapest option, since it is free). I know several people who have taken their wifi-only iPads and iPad2s to Europe and said they did not find the lack of 3G really inconvenient at all as most towns had plenty of free or cheap wifi access all over the place.
And in 3 years, your iPad will be at least 2-3 generations behind, LTE will have already been replaced by 5G or whatever the next new generation of cellular ends up being named (and the "young" kids will be wondering what the heck 3G even means or meant - dang that stuff was from the olden days!), and you can pitch that ancient piece of technology and start things all over again

Safari and alice.it mail

Here's the problem. When I try to access my mailbox on www.alice.it after filling in the required fields, "user ID" and "password", the first time I click on the ENTER button nothing happens; I click on it a second time (with the required fields filled in properly) and what I get is the same page with the user ID and PW fields blank again. I practically can't access my mailbox with Safari, while this can be done with IE and Firefox. What's the reason of this?

Welcome to Apple discussions; )
The Alice Mail page [ if this is indeed the mail login page] validates badly, it maybe why Safari does not work with it, Safari does not tolerate poorly written code.
If Firefox works with your Alice email perhaps that is your best option.

AIRPORT EXTREME AND ADSL (ALICE)

Greetings everyone,
I have a Powerbook G4, which is a little older than most but here is the problem. I just arrived in Sicily and I purchased the Airport Extreme for my ADSL(Alice modem) provided by the internet company. Well I am able to go through the entire setup and see the base but once I go to connect to the internet utilizing PPoE, it states that it is unable to connect (password is wrong). The thing is, it is right! If I connect to the Alice via LAN, it works fine. Is there something I am doing wrong? Is the ADSL (Alice) not compatible with the Airport? I have tried connecting with multiple and even my neighbors set ups. The process has taken 2 weeks so far. Please someone take a few mins to help me out. The ADSL(Alice) only have 2 ports and I have multiple computer products to run(Sony Playstation, Sony Computer, Vonage, and my sons desktop). Any help would be generous!

Bearing in mind that I don't know anything about the specifics of your "Alice modem" - one comment: the PPPoE protocol should be handled by only one device. If your Alice modem is configured to handle PPPoE, then you shouldn't also configure the base station to handle PPPoE. If your Alice modem isn't configured to handle PPPoE, then your base station needs to be configured to handle PPPoE. But under no circumstances should any of the devices connected to your base station (like your Mac) be configured to handle PPPoE.

Alice and SGD 4.5

SGD 4.5 Opensuse / SLES 11, the 64 bit Alice application from www.alice.org runs fine on Linux, but when I want to start it from SGD it opens, you must chose a background then, and then the window is first gray, for about 5 seconds, then it vanishes. Noting in the log-files.
I tried many versions of Linux, Firefox, Java sdk and Java re, 32 and 64 bit.
If however, I start in SGD a windows session, I can run the windows version of Alice in the browser.
What could I check?

Yes SGD is installed on OpenSuse /SLES 11 / SLES 10 (supported)
Yes I can start a Linux Gnome /KDE session and run the app.
Yes when I put LD_LIBRARY_PATH= /usr/lib in the Environment Varialbles in Lauch of the app, it takes longer
for the gray windows to vanish, so there could be a missing environment variable. Any suggestions?

I would suggest you visit an Apple dealer, preferably an Apple Store if there's one in your city, and ask for assistance in determining what you need. The questions and issues you bring up are rather complex to address in a technical support forum and would be better addressed in person where you and the salesperson can ask questions back and forth to arrive at the optimal setup.

Leggere HD esterno su modem Alice Technicolor

ho provato gia a cercare una soluzione nella community ma senza successo....
Vi spiego meglio il problema:
Ho un Mac Book Pro con l'ultima versione di Mountain Lion ed un modem Alice Technicolor. Vorrei condividere un HD esterno tramite la porta USB del modem.
NON VEDE NIENTE
Ho scoperto che il problema potrebbe essere causato da SAMBA. Ho provato ad istallare SMBup ma non mi sembra che funzioni.
Chi mi può aiutare?
Non sono molto esperto di queste cose.
ps su PC Windows vedo senza problemi l'HD esterno.

Comunque, in realtà non sono stato del tutto sincero: un mezzo supporto l'ho trovato... :)

1. Disabiliti Samba su ML
2. Installi smbup
3. Ti accerti che smbup sia in esecuzione
4. Installi mucommander (che è un file manager per Mac OSX)
E... Sorpresa! Da mucommander ACCEDI ai dischi! :)
Ora il mio problema è che voglio riuscire a montare quei dannati dischi sul Finder, perché trovo mucommander particolarmente scomodo e perché vorrei provare ad usarli con Time Machine (si potrà?)
Quindi stasera bestemmio ancora un po' su questo tema e vediamo cosa esce... :)
PS è anche probabile che si tratti solo dell'autenticazione. Forse bisogna provare collegandosi a smb://user:[email protected]
Ieri mi chiedevo che utente usare ma poi ho scoperto che il nome dell'utente deve essere TEST, senza pwd... Stasera provo, ieri ho finito all'una di fare prove ed ero bruciato... :)

SR520 config for Alice Germany (PPPoE)

I am trying to obtain a stable teleworker / homeoffice setup with our offices UC540 box.
Currently, I am using an SR520 router at the teleworker site. I configured the SR520 for one location with Cisco Configuration Assisstant and it worked okay. The I moved, and at the new loation I have Alice DSL (ex Hansenet), which requires sending PPPoE information to the access box (Siemens).
I setup the missing information out of the existing, working Netgear router, to the SR520 with CCA, but Internet access does not work. Seems the SR520 does not get any IP on the WAN interface.
Does anyone know wether this setup can be configured with CCA ?
Does anyone know a working IOS configuration for Alice / Hansenet / PPPoE / PPP / CHAP ?
I have attached my current configuration.

Germany: Hansenet (Alice) Router 1121 (TV/WLAN)

Hansenet (Alice) is a german internet provider. They supply a branded Siemens-Router with their product. This Router has a severe bug in its firmware, making DNS unresponsive when using DHCP. The bug only occurs in conjuction with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). The symptom is that you are properly connected to the internet but cannot load any webpage. Pinging IP-adresses works, but resolving names does not.
I do know three solutions to overcome this problem:
1. Turn off DHCP on the router and assign individual IP-adresses manually, e.g. 192.168.1.1 for the router, 192.168.1.10 for your computer. On your mac set the netmask to 255.255.255.0, default gateway and dns-server to 192.168.1.1 (the router's IP). Change the '10' in the ip-address for each additional computer to any value between 11 and 254. Do not use the same value on different computers.
2. Keep DHCP turned on, but assign on any connected computer the DNS-server manually to an ip-address out of this list:

3. Use the 1121 router as a dumb modem and attach it to an airport extreme.
Reset the router by pushing the reset-button in the bottom. Do not enter any data, just connet it between the DSL-splitter and the wan-port of your airport.
Enter provider data (account/password) in the WAN-section of your airport.

Chatbot named ALICE invaded my skype I need an exp...

So me and my friend were talking and then suddenly this CHAT BOT shows up. It refers to itself as ALICE and I don't know how to get it to go away. It keeps talking to one of my friends and won't stop. Its talking about stuff like hand gustures and such. Heres a full log of the chat just before the bot started up to this present moment where its still talking. 1: Its only talking to ONE of my friends
2: Its not effect anything else i use like omegle, or steam.

It's clearly coming from your computer or account, not your friends. Do you have Clownfish installed with the Alice chatbot enabled? If not you might have some other 3rd party plug-in installed providing the chat bot.

OS X Snow leopard and Alice WLAN 1121 Router, any tips?

i have the dreaded Alice Wlan 1121 Router, and with my mac im getting very patchy wifi and enternet access.

You really have two options here.
Your SonicWall Firewall has a built-in VPN server, so you could configure that, point your remote client to the SonicWall's address and you're set - the remote machine will be given an address in your internal (192.168.2.x) LAN and will be able to communicate with all the other machines on the LAN.
The other option is to configure the VPN server on your Mini, in which case you'll need to configure port forwarding on the SonicWall so that the VPN traffic (the UDP ports listed above) are passed through to the server.
The advantage of running on the Mac is that it's automatically tied into the directory system on your Mac, so any user in your Mac's directory will be able to establish a VPN connection. The downside is that it's a little more complex to setup due to the port forwarding requirements.
In either case, once the VPN connection is established your remote Mac will be able to communicate with any machine on the LAN (the Mini, other clients, printers, etc.). The only thing that won't work will be auto-discovery (e.g. Bonjour), so VPN-based servers won't appear in your Finder's sidebar, for example. To overcome this you'll need to make sure your LAN DNS is working properly or know the IP address of each machine on your LAN.

Alice: Madness Returns NOT available for pre-order?

My local Best Buy doesn't have Alice: Madness Returns available for pre-order. So I checked online, and it's not available online for pre-order either, for any of the consoles or PC. Do you intend to sell the game in your stores or even offer a pre-order for it?

If you still have this issue, please respond back since it's been several days. On bestbuy.com there is an icon to check local stores for the inventory. Worse case, you can always contact your local store to see when they might be getting it on the self. Some items do not display as in inventory due to returns/displays/glitches and they MAY have it in stock.

Gaming - American McGee's Alice

This is an old game that i just uploaded to my iMac. The game is playing fine but it's options for quick load (F1) & quick save(F4) don't respond when I use the keys on keyboard. Anyone have any recommendations why this may be or what i could do to fix? Thank you

you could try to set it to IGD in your BIOS to get the Integrated only working (find a option in your BIOS that is set to PEG and change it to IGD and see how it goes)
NOTE: if you find that settings see if it has a both option!

non riesco a configurare il router sopra riportato al quale ho aggiornato il firmware alla versione 1.01.19 (questa versione mi ha portato ad una diminuzione di banda da 18 mb a 10Mb) con una connessione Telecom Italia 20Mbit con protocollo rfc 1483 routed (iPoA) con encapsulation llc.
In Interface setup-->Wan ho creato il pcv0 sia con ip pubblico (uno degli 8 ip del pool) e gw il primo disponibile. Sia come punto a punto supponendo che sia una /30. Ma nulla. Ho provato a creare anche due pvc uno con l'ip pubblico e uno con il punto a punto, ma nulla.
Con il ppoe a casa funziona dopo aver seguito il forum che mi suggeriva di eliminare la vlan voice dal dhcp e dalla vlan. Infatti il firmware non lascia creare la route statica dove 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 ->ip gateway.

- faccia un firmware downgrade per vedere se il problema e' legato al firmware o alla configurazione
- ci faccia sapere cosa esattamente intende con "e gw il primo disponibile" alla fine della frase.
