Align By Page in 11.5

I have noticed in 11.5 that the option to align a group of objects by the page margins while keeping the objects relative to each other is gone. Please tell me this option is just hidden somewhere and is still available!
Blanchard

Sorry for the delay in my reply. What I am seeing is a loss in functionality from 11.3 to 11.5 (we do not use 11.4 in our office so can't say how it works) If I select multiple objects on a Section and want to align that group by the page and keep the relative spacing between the objects, I can't.
For example, I have a set of three objects that are not the same size or evening aligned by a side or center - but they are where I need them in relation to each other:
.....Policy Number:......................Effective Date:.......Expiration Date:
..........XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX................MM/DD/YYYY........MM/DD/YYYY
If I resize the section these objects are on, or change the margins, I will want to realign these objects as a group to a new position. In 11.3 and earlier I could select all objects and do an Align By Page. All the objects would move to the margin in question but stay in relative position to each other. Now, in 11.5 I do not have an Align by Page option, only a Center on Page option. This option will move off of the objects to the new position and change their relative positions to each other. For example, if I chose Center in Page --> Vertical then the two lines become one line with the objects on top of each other.
I realized this lack of previous functionality when I found that 11.5 Selection Area for Section resizes the area selected and repositions all of the objects into the newly sized section (see previous post from me on this forum). When I resized the section back to the correct size, the objects were in the wrong positions. I have not been able to determine a way to move all of the objects quickly and as a group because I can only align by a single master object of center every object within the page. I can't align to page left, right, top or bottom. I think these features should be brought back, especially given the Select Area for Section issue in 11.5.

  • How to center align preview page

When I preview my webpage (which I am creating in fireworks) in the browser it is to the left of the page, How do I center align it?? Thank you in advance for your help

You shouldn't be creating your total web page in Fireworks, only the graphics  :-)
You should slice up the images you need and then export those and use them in your HTML or via the stylesheet as background images.  A web page that is full of images will only slow down the loading plus not be indexed by search engines...
To then center the page, you need to use CSS to to align the page in the center of the browser window regardless of window size.  This again, is done when you move over to the HTML editor, not in FWs.
A good tutorial that may help the transition from taking a FWs comp to HTML

  • Method to lock alignment guides (pages 5.5)

Is there a method to lock "alignment guides" in Pages?     I seem to be constantly grabbing them accidentally.  Probably just moving too fast.  But was hoping there would be a method to lock them in position once they are set-up.
    Thank-you,  John L.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac and are alternately opening the wrong one.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages '09 can not open Pages 5, iOS 7 Pages, Pages for iCloud beta or iCloud files.
Pages 5 only runs on Mavericks and can not open Pages '08 or earlier files at all and alters/damages Pages '09 files, which once saved can not be opened by anything other than Pages 5.
Pages 5 files are in an odd compressed bundle, impossible to parse, which won't transfer via non-Apple servers. DropBox may have patched theirs, I haven't checked lately.
All Pages files, no matter what version or compatibility, have the same file extension: .pages.
Apple has removed over 110 features from Pages and many of the rest are buggy. They have confused their users and apparently themselves with the installations, upgrades and cross-transfers of files. Effectively Pages 5 files are only compatible with themselves in a very narrow range of hardware and software.
    http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/viewforum.php?f=22&mforum=iworktipsn trick
We are recommending users "upgrade" back to Pages '09 and trash/archive Pages 5 after Exporting their Pages 5 files back to Pages '09 or Word .docx files.
You should give Apple and other users feedback by rating/reviewing Pages 5 in the App Store.

  • Center-align iWeb pages?

Is there a code to use to center align an iWeb page, as in vertically, so that no matter what screen size/resolution you have, the page will stay in the middle of the browser, instead of at the top?

All objects on an iWeb page are fixed and do not move when a browser window is resized. The page itself is centered horizontally.
iWeb does not support vertically centered pages. And from other forums I gather it is not easily done with custom code.
But it can be done. Here's a custom page that centers and scales in all directions :
    http://www.wyodor.net/Centered/
    Study the code.
To make it work in iWeb you need a JavaScript and knowledge of how iWeb creates its pages.
Perhaps this page guides you in the direction you want. If you can resize the objects, you can resize the page vertically :

  • EPub export question -- How to bottom-align a page

    Hi,
In a printed book, the text on the copyright page is often
bottom-aligned, so the last line of the copyright info sits on the
    bottom margin of the page.
I'm wondering if there's any simple way of doing that when exporting to
ePub. The copryight text is short enough so that it will usually all fit
on the viewer's screen (unless the screen is very small), and I'm
looking for a way to have that text bottom-aligned.
    And ideas?
    Thanks,
    Ariel

Right -- that's what I've been doing -- just a separate page. But it
bothers me a little, sitting there at the top like that. Maybe it's just
because I'm so familiar with it at the bottom of a page in a regular book.
I wonder if there's some way of doing something with a "div" element?

  • Align all pages to center

I'm trying to edit hundreds of product images in fireworks with the least amount of repetition.
I have loads of variations of ratios that break the nice look on the website so I created a master page at the correct dimensions then mass import all images as pages, but then I have to align the images up to the center of the document. Its at this stage I'm repeating myself a lot. At the moment I'm going through each page selecting the image then aligining it up to the center of the canvas. I want to align all the images on each page to the center of the canvas without repating the steps like above.
    Any ideas?

  • Alignment of page

I have my site pretty much the way I want it and it looks

elements are now aligned tight against the left side of the page.
Most everything is set to 500 pixels in width, except for the
header which is 800. I would like all the elements to be centered

  • How do I get decimal alignment for Pages on my iPad WITHIN a table?

I'm working with Pages on my iPad and I understand how to double-tap the ruler to enable decimal alignment within text. But how does one decimal align within a column WITHIN a table cell?

Did you purchase the app on your iPad, or through iTunes on your computer?  If you downloaded directly to your iPad, the icon likely loaded onto a different page.  On your home screen, swipe your finger to the left and keep doing that until you find the page the App went to.  Once you see it and you want to move it to hour home screen, hold your finger on the App until it jiggles.  Then while holding the App slide to the left edge of the page and it will move to the next page back and so on and so on......

  • Page Tiling - Precise alignment of pages

    Hello.
I know that I could solve this by using InDesign, but I'd like to have the flexibility of using Illustrator while creating this document.
I am making a presentation which will eventually be saved as a multi-page PDF. I have set up a 6144x2304 pixel document which has the page tiling set up to produce a 6 wide by 3 tall, 1024x768px PDF document for eventual viewing on-screen.
How can I set up the page tiling so that it is PRECISELY accurate when exporting? As far as I know, I can only place the page tiles using the "Page Tool", which has the handle in the lower-left corner of the tiles. This makes precise positioning of tiles in relation to the upper-left corner of my document impossible. Also, the handle is attached to the live area of the page and not the edge of the printed page, so forget about snapping to the edge of the doc.
If there was a way for me to move the handle of the page tool to the upper-left, or if there were a way for me to numerically control the page tool's placement, I'd be oh so happy!
    Thanks for your feedback.
    --------------S

After setting up the document in the Document Setup window, do a Cmd-P and then select the Setup in the box at the left. Set the origin to 0, 0 and to tile full pages.

  • Listing Bookmark Script Align Page Numbers to Right

    Hello,
I have a script which will list Bookmark Names and then the Page Number after the bookmark as follows:
    Bill Smith  Page#1
    Jeffrey Jones  Page#5

What I would like the script to achieve is to list the bookmarks and then align the Page numbers to the right side of the pdf instead of jumbled together.
Can anyone please advise if it is possible to do this in javascript?

  • Can I use InDesign to format several small multiple-page PDFs into one large multiple-page PDF?  I want to stack 6 identical 3"x4" PDFs (50 pages long) onto one 8.5"x11" PDF (50 pages long) without having to align each image on each page individually.

This seems like a standard thing that professional printers would have to do to efficiently maximize paper usage.  Can it be done with InDesign?

Okay, thanks!  However, just to make sure, can I place a multi-page PDF (or InDesign document) onto a larger InDesign document that will automatically align each page in the same place all the way down the InDesign document? I am not looking to place single PDF pages one at a time because that will be highly inefficient for my purposes (I am going to have over 400 different 50-page 3"x4" PDFs that I wish to stack up 6 times on to a 50-page 8.5"x11" InDesign document).  How do I acquire/use the scripts that automate placing multi-page PDFs? Thanks!
