Align Layers to Selection: more options please
On the Layer/Align Layers to Selection menu, can we have additional combinations of options?
Ideally:
Top Left
Top Right
Bottom Left
Bottom Right
Center (i.e. horizontal and vertical combined)

Ah, I see now. Your totally correct, I wasn't savy to that technique.
You can have several non vector layers, lets say a bunch of retangle selections made with the marque and filled, stacked on top of eachother but not center aligned on the their x values and not aligned to the center of the canvas. When you select all the layers it will center their x val to eachother. If you select them and then do (Select > all) it will center align their x to the center of the canvas.
Very useful to know, thank you. You can see why I missed this though right? It seems more like a useful bug in it's exicution rather than a thought out feature (not saying its a bug : p). Like the selection made by the (select > all) becomes an it's own "layer object" the size of the convas that is added to the list of selected layers, thats why the alignment then works to center it in the canvas. It's a short cut to what I used to do - select all on a new layer and fill a color in the layer so that the other layers align to it. To me using select all is not very apparent since Logically I think of it as I'm aligning layers. Hence why I actually used to make a full width and hight layer to center align things.
That said, I stand by my request for adding a visible toggle option in the Options bar of the Move tool. I feel It is much more discoverable method. It would have been hard for me to figure your technique out on my own it took a while for me to process because of how I interpreted the behavour of (Select > All). Down side to my feature request is that it may be slower to power users. It would requre switching the toggle back and forth instead of a quick hotkey. Maybe Adobe could have it do both? It could be Align to Eachother by default and your shortcut to select all would still behave the same way, but if a user is not savy to that they can toggle the align to canvas option and be able to use that method.

Is there a way in PS CS3 to align layers in way PS CS2 did? In CS3 there is no way to align layers by selecting them and selct layer to alignt to it. Not to move all layers selected but only move layers aligned to one specified layer by clicking it after selcting all layers? Any sugestions?
|I could be wrong, but it sounds like you may have confused the "reference object" functionality between applications. In Illustrator, an additional click sets the target align-to object, but Photoshop layer alignment has never worked that way.
On the subject of controlling alignment reference, Help says: "To align the content of one or more layers to a selection border, make a selection in the image, and then select the layers in the Layers panel. Use this method to align to any specified point in the image."
So you can leverage this "selection border" reference feature to set your align-to layer. Multi-select the layers to be aligned, then Ctrl/Cmd-Click the thumbnail of the desired align-to layer to load it as a selection. Now all the other layers will align to the selected one. It's like that extra click, just add the Ctrl/Cmd key. -

to get the button in the button list you have to redefine the method IF_BSP_WD_TOOLBAR_CALLBACK~GET_BUTTONS in the implementation class of your overview view.
example for a new button:
CLEAR ls_button.

The first part is the separator, the second part is the button itself. Here the ls_button-on_click is important. This is the name of the eventhandler you call by clicking the button. Just create the eventhanlder with the same name for your view. Inside the eventhanlder you could code whatever is required.

Within music Library can anyone please explain why after I select the option to sort 'Album by Artist' a number of tracks are being treated as separate albums? How can I fix this? I have tried to manually correct by 'drag and drop' individual tracks but that doesn't work. My music library includes a number of repeat album artwork images simply because not all tracks are being listed under the one album making my library more difficult to use than it should. Any advise would be appreciated.

varinderI don't understand the question exactly, could you restate it. Sorry mate, I might just be braindead.
But, as far as the issue, it is by design. the column is a lookup columns which essentially ties to the external data. if that data is removed, the column on your simple list becomes invalid and any edits of the simple list item will require
it to be changed.
are you wanting to make the ECT read only? that's simple enough. you can pop open SPD and edit the ECT, then remove the C/E/D operations (create/update/delete). That will not, however make it read-only in any other systems that access that
external data, as I assume its not just SP or else it wouldn't be external

A new problem with CS5 forced me to download PScc but the problem is still there. I am getting tmp00000001 in photo merge when importing multiple files from inside PS and if trying from bridge I am getting a pop up box telling me I need to select more than 1 file. Can't select more than 2 options in Smart Groups
Tried so many times to select more than 2 options in Address Book when creating a new Smart Group but it won't allow me to. Tried quitting, restarting, waiting for updates....etc. Used to be able to select many options. Attached a Smart Group form

Is there any way to re-configure the flash bios to allow more options in in QOS for more computers of the Linksys WRT54GL? I have two areas where I can add a computer and select weather it should have lowest-highest priorities, but two computers are not enough. I would like an extended ability to add more computers to this list, can anyone tell me if there is a bios out there with this abilitiy? I would be willing to look into third party bios as well if they are the only ones which support this. I like Linksys and their products, however, I believe they should have added extended features to the bios in this case. I understand the WRT54GL code is under GPL and that I could be able to edit it myself had I known programming, alas I do not and I could very easily brick my router.. and that would not be fun
I think only 3-4 computer can be added under QoS on the router ....
Even you upgrade the firmware of the router ... still the basic features remains the same ..... -

Just updated to iCloud, but I can't find the 'purchased' list on the iTunes store on my iPhone. There's no button for it on the toolbar or under the 'more' option. Want to play/download my puchased music via iCloud on my iPhone.... Help someone please?!

More Creative Cloud pricing options please
Something that confuses me with respect to the creative cloud pricing model is why there aren't more options? For example, why is it that only the entire "master suite" is available for $50/month, and not more affordable options that might allow users to select certain applications-- a la carte-- and create a custom subscription plan? Say I really only need Dreamweaver and Photoshop, and I like the idea of paying a subscription fee as opposed to one (huge) lump sum for the retail box-- seems it would be wise to accommodate such a need via the CC, no?
I know many artists and designers for whom $600/year is frankly cost-prohibitive, and who would likely get on board with some more affordable options available.Nancy O. wrote:

How about letting the users decide that for themselves? This is some serious up selling going on. Everybody uses Acrobat PRO to send PDF's to print houses. Add just one other product to the mix and you might as well go for everything. This is not a choice. It's a forced upgrade to something more expensive that you don't need. And besides, trial versions are for people who want to try out programs.

A lot of us have been upgrading our Adobe software for years... and would have continued to do so. This isn't only about the price.
With a subscription only model we lose our security of a normal license. We have nothing to fall back on if we stop our subscription. Either keep paying Adobe forever or lose the ability to open up the programs. This is unacceptable.
But still being able to buy a perpetual license, albeit just for CS6, is something we can agree on. CS6 is still a fine piece of software. -
My Mac Shuts off when I use iPhoto to Shift-Select more then 6 photos. Please Help :(

Thank YouI was actually able to upgrade to the newest software, iOS 5.1.1 without connecting to my computer/iTunes but rather directly through my phone when I was home on Wi-Fi. After the upgrade I plugged my phone into a different USB port at the back of my computer and was able to do a full restore. I really don't think the USB port had anything to do with it because I use the same front USB port all the time with my external hard drive and other devices wuth no problems at all; regardless of what the actual solution was, I am now able to connect to iTunes and upgrade/restore without any problems so that half of my problem is resolved.
I have yet to leave my house since doing the upgrade/restore so I am not sure if the problem with my phone crashing when I use the interent on the 3G is still an issue. I will test it today and tomorrow and give you an update.

I am trying to combine 2 images together in photoshop CS4, and have managed to open the images as separate layers under one file and select them together. But when I click Edit>Auto-Align Layers>Auto, all I see is a pop-up saying "Layers do not overlap enough to detect alignment, in general images should overlap by approx 40%". What should I do? I have already resized them to be equal in size. Please help..Thank you!To give a bit of a more real world example, here are two images that I'd like to align:

With the distrotion that happens (it's like a 3D view of what the camera movement was to take these two pictures). We can see that the overlap will shift slightly, so if there isn't enough of the same material overlapping, you may not have enough to cover this distortion.

It is possible to Auto-Align Layers using AppleScript?
I cannot find the command in the Dictionary.
Otherwise the only solution is to call an action that call Auto-Align Layers.
StefanoCapste, an alternative to calling an action is to use script listener output code in your applescript and call this with do javascript. This way you need no external items. This should work as long as you have more than one layer selected when calling it. The six options should be self evident in the commented applescript line above the handler call.
