Align Object not handling text correctly?

When I align a line of text and a rectangle vertically, it's not properly centered visually. I have "Use Preview Bounds" turned on.
In this screenshot, both blue squares are the same size. Illustrator obviously thinks this is mathematically centered., but it is incorrect visually. What is Illustrator evaluating in the text line that makes this centering error (there are no descenders)?
Any tips for quickly getting visually correct centered text within a box?

You may:
1) Tick Edit>Preferences>General>Use Preview Bounds;
2) Select the Type and Effect>Path>Outline Object.
That will reduce the Bounding Box to the actual bounds of the letters, and keep the Type editable.
Remember to untick Edit>Preferences>General>Use Preview Bounds before you get a reverse issue.

I don't think LR4 adjustments can be directly sent to CS4, because CS4 cannot interpret LR4's new processing engine.
I think you have to use Edit In... and create a TIF or PSD and send those to CS4

Safari not handling Javascript correctly

I am currently trying to learn how to put Javascript into web pages by reading through the tutorial at http://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp
However it seems that Safari is not handling the Javascript correctly when it loads some of the examples:

However they load correctly in FireFox.
Why?
Is there something I can do to get Safari to handle the Javascript correctly?
Or is there a document somewhere describing how Safari handles Javascrip so that I know how to change the Javascript so that it loads correctly in Safari?

Okay, I click the button labeled "Display a confirm box" on http://www.w3schools.com/js/tryit.asp?filename=tryjs_confirm
A Dialog box appears and I click "OK".
In Safari the button labeled "Display a confirm box" dissapears.
In FireFox the button labeled "Display a confirm box" dissapears and is replaced with "You pressed OK!"
Similarly, in the second example, Safari just get's rid of the button, where FireFox replaces it with the appropriate text.

Safari 4.0.3 not displaying text correctly

Hi all, I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (along with everyone else) and ever since certain code will NOT display correctly.
This is what is displayed by safari when viewing text from a "code" tag.

I have tried troubleshooting and fixing this problem by reinstalling both Safari 4, and Snow leopard to no avail, I have also verified and repaired permissions.

SOLUTION FOUND!
I searched the forums and found our solution here:

Basically, go to your Applications and open Font Book. If this is the case, you have two sets of Courier running. Scroll down to where Courier is and click the drop down triangle to see it's different styles. I then sort of just guessed and checked this next move but it did the trick. Find the Courier Regular that does NOT give a sample display of our beloved ABCs. Right click that "bad" version of Courier Regular and choose the Remove or Delete Option and verify with an OK. It should get rid of all the bad versions and the warning triangles. Try out a page in Safari and it should look as good as any other browser now.

FF 4.01 does not handle Text Box correctly and some pages need reloading before showing correctly

FF 4.01 does two things incorrectly when displaying some sites which are not replicated on Google Chrome:
# 1: Some pages do not load correctly first time and the images and text are spread out vertically one by one.
# 2: Where websites use inserted TEXTBOXES or ONLINE FORMS these do not function and come up with error messages like as given below. These do not reset correctly if the page is reloaded.

File tabs in DW CS6 do not display text correctly

I recently purchased DW CS6, not the cloud version. When I open the program I cannot read the text on the file tabs in the program The text is distorted and barely legible. I run windows XP professional with SP3. Any ideas?

Are you sure you are using CHM? From what you have described, I might expect something browser based. (WebHelp, FlashHelp, Browser Based AIR Help).

Twitter & Tumblr not rendering text correctly.

Have tried the usual trouble shooting. When changing the page style to 'No Style' - the text displays.
Manually disabling all addons and plugins doesn't fix the issue however when using Firefox in safemode, the text appears fine.
Changing the character encoding does not alleviate the issue.
Running windows 7 x64 with all the latest updates and the latest firefox.
Chrome displays twitter and tumblr fine.
Using the default FF theme.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

IPhone 4 not receiving texts correctly?

I got an iPhone recently this week on Tesco Mobile (basically o2), and I've been noticing an issue. Texts aren't coming through right. Sometimes they come through fine within a matter of seconds of the sender sending them, but more often than not I won't receive any messages unless I switch my phone on and off, in and out of aeroplane mode, text someone or call/am called by someone. It's seriously weird, and very annoying.
At a guess I would assume this is an issue with the handset. Perhaps it is not refreshing the network signal? That would explain why any activity that requires a refresh/use of the signal allows me to suddenly receive texts for a short while again.... It's also worth mentioning I've tried a hard reset already. No change. I'm not really open to the idea of restoring because that's a pain.

Well it seems the problem is focused only where I live, so I'm guessing it may just be an issue with the nearby cell tower. Planning on giving Tesco a bell and I'll see what they say, I guess.

Why Does Adobe Captivate 8 Web Object Not Get Published Correctly

I am trying to insert a YouTube video in Adobe Captivate and publish it. While it previews fine, when i publish it as an SWF, i see just a blank frame.
Can you help out here? Also, if I want to publish it as an PDF, will the video play there too?

Hi Akshay,
I am assuming the method you are using now is embedding Youtube videos into your Web object. My suggestion is it will be much easier if you use the Youtube Learning Interaction instead of a Web object to insert Youtube videos to your Captivate project.
This can be found in the Interactions Toolbar -> Learning Interactions -> Youtube
Also, as Sreekanth mentioned, please test it on a web server, or SCORM cloud.
Youtube interaction will work when exported to PDF as well.

Mail not handling Fonts correctly?

Hi all.
For some reason whenever I send mail to someone using Outlook, on there side it changes my default font to something else. I notice this when they respond, it different then what I have it set as.
Any ideas? Is it something Outlook is doing?
I have it set in Mail to Verdana, but Outlook is seeing it as Times New Roman.

Are you sending HTML email, and is the person using Outlook sending you HTML email? If that's what they're sending, the font specified in their HTML will be used instead of the one you chose, as long as that font is available. The same would be true for HTML email they received from you.
If this isn't what you're doing, we need more details.

Bevel and emboss for object, not text

Is there a way to apply a bevel to a shape that I created in Photoshop and "placed" into Illustrator? I know I can add the bevel in Photoshop, but I'm wondering if there's a way to do it in Illustrator as well.

"Square" node doesn't handle units correctly

It appears that the x^2 node does not handle units correctly. If the input units are m for example, the output units should be m^2, but are actually m. This seems like a bug. Can someone confirm this?

Enabled Hyper-V causes "System thread exception not handled" BSOD in builds 10041 and 10049

I had a Windows 10 TP build 9926 installation with Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition installed, when build 10041 was released Windows Update tried to install it but after restart it got BSOD with "System thread exception not handled" text and
reverted back to 9926 with error code 0xC1900101-0x40017. I tried update from ISO, got the same BSOD. Tried clean installation, it worked.
I decided to install software and restart the system after each installation and discovered that installing Visual Studio 2015 CTP6 caused BSOD after restart if and only if emulators were included. Installation of Visual Studio 2015 CTP6 without emulators
and then installation of Tools for Windows 10 also caused BSOD with "System thread exception not handled" error after restart.
So I thought that it was Hyper-V related and disabled hardware virtualisation in BIOS settings. It worked, system successfully booted, but, of course, Tools for Windows 10 setup showed up and told me about fail in UAP for Windows Phone package.
So, my hardware is Gigabyte GA-A75N-USB3 motherboard with AMD A8-3870 APU with integrated graphics, Intel SSDSA2CW080G3 80GB SSD and 8 GB RAM.
Steps to reproduce are to enable "Virtualisation" item in BIOS settings, install Windows 10 Technology Preview Build 10041, install Visual Studio 2015 CTP6, install Visual Studio Tools for Windows 10 Preview, restart the system and
see blue screen with white text of description of "System thread exception not handled" error.

Same issue, MSI A75MA-G55 AMD Fusion Socket FM1 with A8-3850 APU, 16GB RAM. Hyper-V worked in 9926, but broke in 10041 and remains broken in 10049. I have found that if you get in this BSOD loop, you can boot to Safe Mode and Un-install Hyper-V
to recover. 10041 was an update to 9926, and 10049 was a clean install.

Text will NOT align to top of text frame

The text is low in the text frame even though the vertical justification is set to align TOP in the text frame options and the first baseline offset is set to Ascent in baseline options. There is no baseline shift or inset set and align to baseline grid is NOT selected. Any ideas how to fix it so the text is at the top of the box? Thanks!

@gtingley – did you try:
1. Copy/Paste the text frame to a fresh document?
2. Export as IDMS (snippet) file and place it again?
Just out of fun, did you try to copy/paste the text to a new text frame? Is a object format applied to the text frame? (Just fishing in the dark.)
