Align Text In Acrobat 9 Pro

Hi,
Hope you can help. I just got Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I figured out how to edit text in a PDF, but when I do it does not keep the text centered.
How can I center text?
Thanks.

Acrobat in of itself is not a text Editor. If you need to make serious cahnges to your PDF you need to edit in original application the remake the PDF.
Acrobat does have a text touch up tool that does allo you to correct  spelling of a word by clicking at the end of the word back spacing then retyping word. But if involes more than two additional letters at the most it will altar the line spacing. You can select the word and click on properties and change things as leading  and such wher you can copress the space the word takes up. But if you need to do that on more than one or two items at the most, your better off redoing the PDF from the original after correcting mistakes.
On forms created you can make cahnges and update by making corrections in original save as a different name then chose document and choose replace with and it will update corrections without distrubing the the form elements you have created. (unless you added aditional elements).

  • Editing Text in Acrobat Pro 9.

    I have been trying to edit text in Acrobat Pro 9 using the touchup tool. Nothing happens when I try to type text or replace existing text. I have read that the system font must match the text in the PDF in order to change the text. According to the properties the text is curier a standard Windows font. Any suggestion?

    The PDF file maybe password protected. Click Secure and Remove Security.

  • Editing text in Acrobat Pro doc using Reader

    I've created documents in Acrobat 8 Pro for a client who needs to be able to add a few lines of text in Reader, then re-save and email the PDFs. Each time they try, though, they get the message telling them that they can't save the PDF and should print it out and fill it in.
    Is there any way round this, other than my client buying Acrobat Pro?

    I'm not talking about "major" edits either. If you have the original document, you always want to edit it first. It's just silliness to do anything else. Editing the PDF is asking for problems in many different forms.
    That's the ideal but what if you do not have an original. Suppose the pdf was sent to you to correct.
    I've been there.  Also if a PDF is not been setup for Reader User Rights, by an individual, if you have a Pdf that has small defect, there is a tendency to to use touch up text.  I've done that myself.
    But if I find more than one or two items , I do as you. I just go back to riginal if I have it, and create a new one.
    The above was to caution that if you hvae minor defects , you've either got to create a new version or create a copy with usage rights disabled, then work on that. You methos is the best.

  • How can I align text in Acrobat 8.1 Professional?

    Okay this is quite silly, but seriously how can I align text in adobe acrobat? I could not find a way other than creating a new document file which allows me to use alignment options automatically (example below), however does not allow me that when I reopen the same file (alignment and text options just dissapear on the bars, funny). Help anyone please? =/

    Not that silly; but you ideally shouldn't be trying. Although there are some rudimentary (and sometimes unpredictable) editing tools in Acrobat, (I presume you are trying with the TouchUp Object tool as well as the TouchUp Text ?) much better to get it right in the source application and think of the pdf as what it basically is...a print.
    For whatever reason, v5 could edit text positioning rather more easily than the later versions.

  • Fuzzy text in Acrobat Pro X

    Hi,
    I don't know if others noticed, but text seems to be displaying fuzzy in Acrobat Pro X, than Adobe Reader 9 or Apple Preview Mountain Lion. These screenshots should show the issue:
    http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/8615/acrobatproxvsadobereade.png
    http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/9200/acrobatproxvsappleprevi.png
    Acrobat Pro X and Adobe Reader 9 are set to render on an LCD screen. All other display settings in the preferences seems to be the same.
    Also, while colors seem similar in Acrobat Pro X and Apple Preview, they are a bit different in Adobe Reader 9. I don't know which one is the more faithful to the original, since the source is FrameMaker 9 on XP, a combination resulting in a very 'free' idea of color matching.
    My monitor is a wide gamut, recently calibrated HP LP2475w.
    The new Acrobat has an ugly Windowsy GUI, but it seems this is not the only problem. I wonder if this is a case of 'operator's error', or a bug in the Acrobat line.

    Hi Test,
    Keep in mind all snapshots were taken on the same system, each window side-by-side. So, it is not a matter of turning smoothing on or off, since this would affect all documents at the same time. In fact, I tried different smoothing settings (including off), and this was not a viable solution.
    I can clearly see a difference between the three examples. Text in Apple Preview is extremely clear. On Adobe Reader 9 it is quite clear, even if a bit heavier. In Acrobat Pro X it's even heavier, and very hard to read. More than text, I start to see confused ink stains (and have problems forming the sonic image of the words in my mind).
    As for color, I guess you are right in suspecting there is a different interpretation of the embedded color profile. Acrobat Pro X (and Apple Preview/ColorSync) might correctly translate it (being a prepress settings), while Reader could be confused. I don't know where to choose a color profile in Reader 9, so I cannot test it.

  • Shortcut key for deleting text in Acrobat Pro

    In previous versions of Acrobat Pro, I could highlight text and the delete key would strikethrough. Now in XI that doesn't seem to work.
    Is there a way to program that -- or any other shortcut key?

    Ha - found it! It's the little 'T' with a star at the end of the Annotations - once you select that & tick all the boxes, you can use delete to strikethrough text.

  • Italicizing text in Acrobat Pro

    Hi,
    I have Acrobat Pro 7.0. Is there a way to italicize text in a PDF within Acrobat?
    Robin

    If you insist on editing in Acrobat, then as I said you would select the text touchup tool. Then select the text and right click. In the font, select a bold version of the font. These steps are the process to use and it can be done, but it is not really what you would want to do on a regular basis. There may be some shift in the text that is not desired and that may require doing some size adjustment of the text, not a simple step. In most cases it is easiest to go back to the original document, do the bold there, then create a new PDF as already mentioned.

  • Documents Print with Blurry Text in Acrobat Pro 9

    I'm running Acrobat Professional 9 on a Windows XP machine.  I recently upgraded to version 9 from version 7.  When I print files in color in version 9, the documents come out with bold-faced font and the text is a little blurry.  The document prints fine in grayscale.  I printed to the same printer from a different computer, using version 7, and the document prints correctly in color.  What can be causing this problem?

    ... I've heard that Adobe is still going to be supporting Acobat pro 7 for another year or so before dropping it.
    "End of Life" for Acrobat 7.x arrived some 15 months ago.
    See: http://www.adobe.com/support/products/enterprise/eol/eol_matrix.html#86
    The "special consideration" grace period ended some 13 months ago.

    You may want to engage in the process of funding and executing the purchase of licenses for a supported release of Acrobat.

  • Why are random spaces being inserted in text on Acrobat Pro 9?

    My apologies if this has been asked & answered before. I did try and search and found some information but I still do not understand the complete picture.
    I am a relatively new user to Acrobat and used 7 prior to upgrading to Pro 9 recently.  I am using it for basic functions only at this point, combining multiple word (Microsoft Word 2003) documents from various authors.  Since upgrading to 9 I have come across a few instances where there were random spaces inserted in the PDF document. These spaces are usually between words or in the middle of words and can be just one or two spaces or 10+ spaces.  After doing some research I think I figured out that these spaces occurred after I had used the Touch Up Text tool to fix a small mistake (likely spelling).  After more research I went into the Change Conversion settings option in Word and removed all of the fonts listed in the 'Never Embed' section of the Fonts tab under advanced settings.  This seemed to solve the problem for a while but now it is occurring again.
    So, my questions are:
    1. Can someone explain to me if my research is correct and using the Touch Up Text tool is what caused the spaces in the first place?
    2. What can I do to ensure that this does not continue to happen while still being able to use the Touch Up Text tool occassionally?
    3. Is there something I am missing? (Highly likely given my lack of experience with Acrobat!)
    I truly appreciate any insight that can be offered. Unfortunately I cannot offer any examples to show you what is happening as I work in a legal environment and I have yet to be able to re-create the issue with something not sensitive.
    Kim

    There is really nothing like a space in an Acrobat pdf file. Each letter is positioned on the page according to the Acrobat language specification (similar to the postscript language). When you edit a pdf file anything can happen. I've seen changing one letter completely screw several lines of text (except for the fact that a line of text is not a pdf concept either). The best recommendation is to edit the original documents---not the pdf file. Sometimes it cannot be helped. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. There are no workarounds for changes that occur when you edit the text in a pdf file.

  • Editing Text in Acrobat Pro DC

    I've followed all the instructions for editing text but when I go to select a text box the entire area is selected and the only choice is to move objects on the page (flip, left/right, etc).   I'm unable to click on the blue box to select that specific text box I need to adjust. There is no option for me to select Tools to follow the other help instructions  "If a bounding box doesn’t appear, choose Tools > Recognize Text > In This File."
    I'm trying to work on a PDF that someone else created (who is on vacation, lucky) and of course the client needs it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

    I don't have Acrobat DC here right now, so I can't give you step-by-step instructions for text recognition.
    But have a look at https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/how-to/edit-scanned-pdf-files.html?set=acrobat--fundamenta ls--edit-pdf

  • Script needed to print complete contents in scrolling text field Acrobat Pro 9 (MAC)

    I've seen this question several times in my search but no real solution. My client wants a form with text fields that only show 1-2 lines when viewed on-screen but are scrollable so that the user can input a lot of text. I had no problem creating that. The problem occurs when I try to print the form. Only the visible lines of text print and not the entire contents of the field.
    Is there a Javascript that I can assign to a Print button in my form that can be assigned to the Mouse Down action that will make the entire field contents print? I even recreated the form in WORD so that when the user inputs text into the field, the contents of the form move down the page. My client didn't like that approach. I'm not a programmer and so I haven't been able to write my own script to handle the printing issue. I'm MAC based so using Livecycle isn't an option for me. Thanks!

    I'm using Acrobat Professional 9. I used to use Livecycle which was more flexible, but I no longer have a PC, only MAC and Adobe doesn't make Livecycle for the MAC.
    The client doesn't want larger fields unfortunately. They have questions that require 2 or 3 pages of information to be entered into a small text field but they don't want large fields. If they're reviewing the answers online, it's fine - they can just scroll through the text fields and read the answers but they don't want the completed text fields to expand unless the form is printed.
    I've already set up my text fields to be multi-line and scrollable so that the client can review all of the text in the field if they are looking at the saved PDF online. The problem I'm having is that I need the entire contents of the text field to be visible ONLY when printed out. They don't want larger fields to show in the form. The client was quite specific about it. The form is also going to be used infrequently, so collecting the data and storing it on a server isn't something they're particularly interested in. The information is also confidential, so they do not want me to be collecting and storing the data and sending it back to them in another format. The easiest option I could see was to create a script tied to a PRINT button that printed out the complete text field.
    Thanks!

  • Adding & formatting text in Acrobat Pro 8

    Summary:
    I have just upgraded from Acrobat 5 to Acrobat Professional 8. In acrobat 5 it is super easy to add new text and format to desired style, color, size, etc...
    I can not for the life of me figure out how to ADD text that I can format with font styles, size and color. (not to be confused with formatting pre-exiting text on a page) I have looked at the typewriter tool and text box tool. The text box tool appears to allow bold, strike, italics, but does not allow to resize, change color or change font style.
    Anyone know how to do this? I can't imagine this feature no longer available in such a dynamic version.
    Thanks!

  • BUG : Can't change properties (font, size, etc.) in Text Box (Acrobat Pro Extend 9.3.4)

    Here is a bug in Acrobat 9. It's really frustrating :
    1- Open any PDF file.
    2- Select the Text Box tool and type something.
    3- Notice that you can change the font using the Properties toolbar (CTRL + E).
    4- Open a second PDF file.
    5- Select the Text Box tool and type something in this document.
    6- Notice that you can change the font using the Properties toolbar (CTRL + E) also.
    7- Switch back to the first opened PDF file.
    8. Try using the Properties toolbar.
    YOU CAN'T BECAUSE THE TOOLBAR IS DISABLED!
    There is nothing you can do to make it enabled again.
    This bug seems to be present since Acrobat 8 and the Acrobat Developper Team did not fix it yet. I am a programmer and I know that you need only 5 minutes to fix this bug. WHY IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED YET???
    It's horrible to deal with this bug...
    I hope Acrobat Developper Team heard me and will fix this ASAP.
    Thank you.

    We have had tons of discussions about this problem.  I would love it if Adobe would fix this problem.  In the meantime, one thing we are testing in our environment, and we think it is successful, is to set Preferences to "never view in PDF/A mode'.  Maybe that can help you.

  • How does one create a form with prefilled editable text in Acrobat Pro, such as for fliers or business cards that can be edited and saved by the end user in Reader?

    Working on a Mac. Have seen examples so know it's possible.

    When I created a new template like you told me, I wasn't given the option to rename the fields. See screenshot below. I'm just given the option to add a new template. Changing it refers to changing the template to a different page.
    If you can show me how to have the fields renamed automatically or use the rename parameter, I think that should fix it.
    Under Tools>JavaScript>Document JavaScripts, I've added a Script named "PackagingArtwork".
    // Here is the code
    function PackagingArtwork()
    {this.createTemplate({cName: "PackagingArtwork", nPage: 5});
    // Here the code that spawns the template
    var PackagingArtworkArray = this.templates;
              var PackagingArtwork = PackagingArtworkArray[0];
              PackagingArtwork.spawn(this.numPages, false, false);

  • PDF files created in Acrobat Pro X for Mac will not print correctly on Windows - text is missing

    I recently created a PDF file with pictures and texts in Acrobat Pro X. However, when I send it to my coworkers (who work on Windows computers), the printed file contains only images, and no text. I am using Century Gothic - a font that is installed on these Windows computers. When they open the files, they can see the text and everything exactly as it is meant to be. However, upon printing, the text disappears completely.
    We are using a Konica Minolta Bizhub printer to complete these printouts. When I print from my computer (the Mac), the files print perfectly on this printer. However, when using the same printer, a Windows user cannot print the text in the PDF's.
    Has anyone else run across this problem? I am thinking of trying to embed fonts, however it doesn't seem like it would make much of a difference (since the fonts show up fine on a Windows computer anyways). Is there a known issue with printing PDF's on a Konica Minolta printer?

    The archive format you used embeds all fonts, as does Press and Print type job settings. The standard job settings does not embed all fonts and that might be where the problem was.
