Alignment for HDR not working

I am using a trial version of Photoshop Elements 8 on a Mac.
I am trying to create HDR images ('Photomerge Exposure') from several sets of three images. The images were taken handheld, but using the exposure bracketing feature of the camera so they were taken fairly quickly - approximately two seconds. Therefore they are not exactly aligned, but are close. There are no moving items in the fields of view.
When I use Photomerge Exposure the software does not make any attempt to align the images when it shows me the preview image with the automatic tab. I know that if I switch to manual, I can set three points to manually align the images, but from the help file and from the small number of tutorials available on the web specifically dealing with PSE8 I expected the automatic option to include alignment of the images.
If I accept the blurred preview and other automatic default options and click Done, the final image produced is no better.
Photomatix has no problem aligning the images perfectly, so they are not that far off.
What am I missing?

Interesting, I couldn't get it to do automatic alignment with my Canon G9 images either (can't remember if they were JPEG or raw).
I just remembered a bug reported for Photomerge Panorama, which would silently fail on some images:

In that situation, stripping the metada from the files using the Editor's Save For Web before attempting to merge worked around the problem.
So try doing File > Save For Web (JPEG) to strip all the metadata from the files (including the ICC color profile), and then do Photomerge Exposure. If that works, then you could try lossless ways of stripping the metadata (e.g. using Save For Web (PNG-24) or Exiftool).
Also, if you could attach two images that don't work here (using the Web interface, not an email reply), I'll file a bug report with your images and mine.

Logging for AS not working

Hi,
In sm21, I cannot see any logs from the AS. I can only see the ones from CI.
Any ideas how to solve this issue ?

I think that the card reader may in fact be defective, but it just doesn't make sense if I have already used it fine before. I've tried everything on this Apple support page, thank you though.

Skype 6.3 upgrade for Mac not working

BE WARNED - just because you are being asked to upgrade your Skype, it does not mean it will work on your machine. I am a fairly regular user of Skype and this morning was unable to log-in, being told that I needed to upgrade. I did so to 6.3.0.602 but I was unable to log-in once the software had downloaded. After some research on the forums and finally a text chat with Support, I was told that Skype 6.3.0.602 requires a Mac OSX of 10.9 or above - I have 10.5.8
"So what can I do", I asked the tech support. The answer is nothing (unless I get new OS X software) - there is no Skype software programme that supports my operating system and no timeframe for when it might be available.
Huh? That's right. It's just not available. So for now, users with less than OS X 10.9 will be unable to use Skype when they are instructed to upgrade. It really doesn't make sense. But just so you know....

Here you will read that the latest versions of Skype will not work on some of the versions of MacOS, and that PPC requires one version, Leopard another, Snow leopard another, Mountain Lion another. They are indoctrinated with a stamp in their forehead to enforce their congregation of true believers to install the latest with all "security fixes" or death is looming. They are not used to software that is 2 years old.
So, with Mac, we have different operating systems and different sets of libraries - and things may go belly up if you upgrade - a OS feature is done differently, a libary has been placed inside the OS, and is no longer needed - and if you try to use it, you will be trapped.
Install the latest version that works for your Mac, and make sure to freeze this. Update the "info.plist" file and tell Skype that you use their latest should they pry. As long as it works, do not change anything!
And make the change to stop Skype from checking every time you start.

"Merge to HDR" & "Align Images" will not work with 5000+ pixels

Merge to hdr will work almost instantly for any size image as long as you dont use the "align Image" function. When used, it drastically slows down at about 4000 + pixel images then craps out completely at 5000 + pixels.
I dont get it, worked just fine in CS2, now it doesnt work in CS4?

The Ps CS6 public beta version contains the same camera support as found in Ps CS5/5.5 compatible CR 6.6. There will be future updates to CR 7 for Ps CS6 to pick up more camera support. The Nikon D800 NEF files are not supported, yet.
If you like to work with your D800 files in the public beta build now, you'll have to get the DNG Converter 6.7 from here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw6-7/
and convert your files to DNG.

caption align="left" for table not working in browser

Hi,
I am using Dreamweaver CS6. I have placed two tables on my page and am using <caption align="left"> to left-justify the captions. This looks fine in Design View, but when I bring the page up in a browser, the captions are still centered. I have tested this in I.E. 9 and Chrome, which are the only two browsers I have installed, and the result is the same in both.
Any ideas? I am fairly new to Dreamweaver, and have taken classes in basic Dreamweaver and HTML/CSS. I have searched online help, and could find nothing about this issue.

Not meaning to beat a dead horse but I want to assure you that the <hr> or <hr /> tag is NOT deprecated in HTML or XHTML doc types.
However, the HTML attributes for it: align, noshade, size and width are all deprecated in HTML 4.01 and not supported in HTML5. This is why you must use CSS to style it.
As for IE not displaying correctly, something else is amiss in your code.
As an example, this code has no errors & tests fine in IE7, 8, 9, current Chrome, Opera & Firefox.

HDR not working in bridge nor pscs6!!

I am running on a 13" macbook pro with OS 6.8. I am starting a new thread in the hopes of getting some attention about the problem of HDR pro plug-in not working or giving hidious results (Yes I understand about CR files before processing). It has been very frustrating and gone on for a long itme without any real solutons or headway given. What happens is I try to merge to HDR using either bridge or phsc6 and it goes througn the motions until it gets to the end and then just hangs there with a transparant doc at the end and will not open HDR Pro and then the doc and all the files I cose to merge close and I am left with just the pscs6 main app workspace. When I try open the docs I want to merge first and coose open files from the popup it will do the same motions and close the merge attempt but keep the files I opened previously open but untouched. I tried saving as psd and jpgs and the same results occur. Does ANYONE out there have any insight?? Conroy has been helping by trying out on his system the same files and he is having sucsess. I am sick of reinstalling this app and wrestling with it to get things done. I have been using photomatrix pro instead. Any staff out there with some insight?? thanks and aloha, Uhane

Unfortunately that didn't work. I ended up putting my router in the DMZ as a workaround but it still had it's share of issues. After another week of trying to get Verizon to fix my connection (constant dropped connections forcing reboots of modem and router multiple times daily) I had Cable Internet installed today. Went from an unstable 6Mb/s to a stable 30Mb/s with Cable. I should have done this weeks ago. I wasted over 50 hours of my time with Verizon bouncing my issue around to others hoping someone else would be willing to fix it. Still no accountability with everyone tinkering with my setup taking a stab in the dark. The last person I spoke with set up a technician to come to my house later this week...AGAIN because he said there is something wrong on the line. I've known that for weeks but the tech that refused to fix my issue when he was in my house last week instead tried blaming it on something completely irrelevant because he had no clue what to do. One would think someone from Verizon would have reached out to me from this thread but they did not. In fact, the last tech's supervisor called me when i wasn't home, said "hello, this is XXX from Verizon......hello?" and hung up. Never a follow up as I was left once again to solve the problem myself. Well...I did. The incompetence of Verizon, it's poor training, and awful follow up procedures has cost them a customer. I am truly disappointed.

Iphone mail app for hotmail not working

i have the iphone 4s and have been using the mail app to connect with my hotmail account. in the past it has never been a problem but over the last few days it has not been recognising my password or verifying the account. i have deleted the account and re-installed it...did not work, i have logged onto the account using a p c and it seems to be fine, i am able to log into my gmail account but hotmail it has a problem with. any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Logging in to an email account via webmail access using a browser is not the same as connecting with the incoming mail server for an email account with an email client.
You need to contact Microsoft regarding this problem especially since there is no problem accessing your Gmail account with the iPhone's Mail app.

Bursting control file for Printer not working in WINDOWS ENVIRONMENT

We are trying to print xml publisher report output (PDF) using bursting control file. Is not wokring.
We are using ebs (R12.1.1) on Windows environment.
Any pre-requisite setup (ie. cups config) should be done before printing using control file. Please guide me i am not having knowledge in printer setup and printer part..

When i do the same for xml publisher publisher report to the same printer , its not working using bursting control file.
I too made the test in xml publisher report without bursting control file , there i faced another new issue. Let me explain
1. We are using RDF as data source . here o/p :-" XML "
2. We are using RTF as layout. In template definition, i chose the default o/p type as :- "HTML"
3. When i submit the request, i choose the printer which is working fine for printing seeded report. (method:- giving the printer name and copies by clicking " Option " in SRS window.. )
4. My printer getting prints HTML tag, instead of desired o/p. I wondered after seeing the printout.
5. I cross checked by clicking view output, its showing me the exact html output as per RTF layout.
Dont know wat happening ??? Help me out.
i did the same for changing default output type in template definition to RTF,PDF.. its printing source code of the output type instead of printing output.

Port forwarding for SSH not working on WRT54G2

Hi,
I have forwarded a few ports, but can't get port 22 for SSH to work. I can SSH from within LAN, so that works. And I can access FTP from outside the LAN, when I forwarded that port. But to the same computer where I can access FTP I can't access SSH...
Would be grateful for assistance. Btw, I'm using dynamic IP (through DynDNS, but not using the DynDNS tool in the Linksys interface). I've tried with both the dynDNS domain and the IP address. And I have set a fixed IP address on the server I try to access.

Make sure that if you are forwarding the port nos for SSH on WRT54G2 you need to forward it for the assinged static ip address & it should work great..just try it once.

You splitted the parent container in two part upper and lower row (2 rows), so you are able to adjust the vertical size, but not the horizontal size (only 1 column) this size must be adjusted on parent container.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 12: dropdown boxes for tools not working properly in Win 8.1

Elements 12 system requirements are indicated up to Windows 8. Does that mean it should also work on any Windows 8 upgrades, more specifically 8.1? The drop-down boxes for the tools are not working properly in the program. I've installed it, uninstalled it, and installed it again with the same results. It worked fine on my old computer with Vista.

Yes PSE12 will work on 8.1
If problems persist try re-setting the prefs.
Go to: Edit >> Preferences >> General (Photoshop Elements menu on Mac)
Click the button Reset Preferences on next Launch
