Alignment symbols in Pages newsletter

I created a newsletter in Pages and added stars to one of the pages. I used command + shift +4 to create a screen shot of the page that has the stars and want to save it as JPEG, but when I generate the JPEG of that page, the alignment boxes (square with a + sign in it) that are under the star symbols are visible. Is there a way to delete those symbols on my original newsletter prior to making it a JPEG?
Thanks!

Peter
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "print version only".
["By going via the pdf and Preview you have converted the print version only."]
I'm offering JPEG sample pages of literature packets that I sell to educators on a website so that buyers see the quality of my work before purchasing the entire packet. Do you recommend the method you explained to me of how to create the JPEG's or is there something else I should do?
Buyers upload the JPEG samples from the website. I'm aware that the slide bar where I "save to JPEG" changes the quality and size of the JPEG. Thank you for your assistance concerning this matter. I really appreciate it.

How can I stop Pages from changing parts of a document when I am progressing through an 8 page newsletter. When I go back to check something some headings have moved and been put out of context. I can't lock the individual pages of the document to prevent this happening.

The Amazon iWork '09 is a DVD in a boxed set.
Downloading is transferring something from the Internet.
I think you are talking about not having a DVD drive?
To install the DVD version, either get an external USB DVD drive, they are cheap on eBAy or borrow another computer and drag the iWork Installer onto a USB Flash Drive and install from that.

  • How do I upload a pages newsletter to my website

I am new with Pages and just created a news letter for my website. It includes a video. When I try to upload it to my website, I get an HTTP error. I have tried saving it as a word document, which not only eliminates the video, but the photos on the newsletter are all out of place. How can I upload the original Pages newsletter to my website?

If you want to use Pages then your newsletter should be exported as a PDF, then uploaded to your website for your visitors to download and view.
However PDF creation WITH embedded video from within Pages is not possible, you will just get the first frame of the video as a placeholder exported in the PDF.
To create media rich PDF's you would need Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Or as suggested before, if you want your newsletter visible online and not as a download then you are better off creating it in iWeb. If you have done most of your layout work already in Pages most objects will simply paste across to an iWeb page.

  • Meter squared symbol in pages for iPad

    Hey Guys,
Does anyone know how to make the meter squared symbol in Pages for iPad? I cant find away to push the 2 up.
    Thanks
    Tom

Thanks. In a document in Pages on my iPad, if I press the + symbol, I am given various insert options like tables, graphic boxes and 'animatable' lines, which can be adjusted. Top left says 'text' which is obviously a text box. However my friend has an arrow option next to the word 'text' which allows him to import a thin arrow which can be rotated to point in any direction in his document (useful for pointing one area of text to another.
I don't have this option; just the 'fixed' block arrows which appear below as options. My version of Pages is the latest and my iPad is very new.
    Thanks.

  • How to use math symbols in Pages

How can I find math symbols in Pages?
Do I need additional Software or is there a possibility as in Microsoft Word?

You can find some math symbols in Pages if you go to Special Characters. Open Pages, go to Edit menu (on the menu bar) > Special Characters, and choose math symbols in the sidebar, so you will be able to add a symbol double-clicking the symbol.
However, it may not include all symbols. In this case, you will have to use other third-party applications

    hi anil
The header line is always left-justified .
We basically have three options for formatting :
    S , A and H.
every line in Alv top-of-page is of 60 char length(slis_listheader-info).so i think the only option we have is to add required spaces to the left and display the required string

  • Web page newsletter addition to iweb 08

I have been unable to add a 4-page newsletter created in Pages to my web page. Adding photos, hyperlinks, puzzles and more has worked, but not putting in newsletters on certain pages.

I have been unable to add a 4-page newsletter created in Pages to my web page. Adding photos, hyperlinks, puzzles and more has worked, but not putting in newsletters on certain pages.
~I created a text box on a blank web page and tried copying & pasting the desktop newsletter icon as well as dragging and dropping it from the desktop, but it only resulted in a hyperlink window popping up (one line text of Newsletter's "save as" title) asking where I wanted it to go. Without the newsletter content within my site, a hyperlink was useless there.
I opened the Pages newsletter on the desktop and tried copying the entire first page, but with all the photos, captions and formatted text, it only copied a small portion of the newsletter and that wasn't formatted right at all.
I tried dragging and dropping it out of the external disk as a PDF and it showed up as a small, miniature dotted image in iweb's page. Same thing happened if I tried to "select all" of the first page and "paste" the PDF into the blank web page.

  • How add new currency symbol in pages 5.1?

i couldnt find a way to custom add new currency symbol to pages or numbers. If anyone knows how to do, let me know. Thanks.

Are you talking about in Tables?
The list seems to be the list.
In Pages '09 there is more flexibility you can have a Custom format and add your own prefix.

  • Greek symbols in pages?

By selecting the font symbol in pages, the letter selected is not changing in the corresponding greek symbol. For example if I select a b and then I change the font from helvetica to symbol I'm expecting the b changes in beta. Am I wrong?

Probably is not too much longer than using the symbol font
The Symbol font is not the right solution for the Greek writing system for a specific range of reasons.
The coded character set of the Apple Macintosh in January 1984 had 256 code points. The last 39 code points were unpopulated, and the other code points were populated by the characters for the writing systems of Western Europe including English.
When Steve Jobs and John Warnock decided the core Type 1 fonts for the Apple LaserWriter released in January 1985, they decided on a solution that provided Greek glyphs and mathematical glyphs that were to be typeset by entering character codes for Western European.
The same problem persisted in Adobe Sonata for music and Adobe Carta for cartography - the meaning embodied in the character code was one thing and the shape embodied in the Type 1 glyph was something completely different.
The same problem persisted in Symbol for Apple TrueType 1.0 introduced for System 7.0. Both Adobe Type 1 Symbol and Apple TrueType 1.0 Symbol are still supported, and if you pick the wrong version of Symbol you are placing graphic shapes whose meaning is, well, meaningless.
Technicalities aside, the Greek glyphs in Symbol follow the tradition of cursive Greek introduced by Aldus Manutius and followed for four centuries (Magnus may know that Nordstedt aka the Royal Printing Office in Stockholm had a cursive Greek in this style cut by Granjon).
Stanley Morison, typographic adviser to the Monotype Corporation, held that the Aldine style of cursive Greek was illegible. Nicholas Barker, Curator of early printed books at the Library of the British Museum, held the same view.
The tendency in type design, therefore, has been towards Greek assimilated to antiqua, and more recently to grotesque i.e. sans serif.
    Best wishes,
    Henrik

  • Align symbols in a grid

    hi to all...
    SORRY FOR MY POOR ENGLISH
Actually i want a script to align 6 symbols in 10 X 10 grid. In random they should align in center of each and every grid boxes. and the row and coloumn should given by us. what is the easier way to do this..
PLZ help me for this. Bcoz i have to sit for a long time to align this.
    Thanks.
    -Rajesh

See the descriptions of two scripts on
    this page and
this page named "ReplaceWithSymbol" and "RandomReplaceSymbol".
ReplaceWithSymbol replaces the objects in the current selection with instances a Symbol of your choosing that exists in your Symbols Palette.
RandomReplaceSymbol randomly replaces selected Symbol Instances with Instances of the other Symbols in the current Symbol Palette.
So with those scripts, there are several ways to approach what you describe. For example:
    1. Put any Symbol Instance on the page.
    2. Use Transform Effect to create your grid.
    3. Expand the Transform Appearance.
    3. Use RandomReplaceSymbol to swap out the Symbols.
    or
    1. Draw a rectangle (or any other shape).
    2. Rasterize it.
    3. Use Filter>Create>ObjectMosaic to create a grid of rectangular paths. Ungroup the results.
    4. Drag a Symbol Instance (any will do) onto the page.
    5. Select everything and run the ReplaceWithSymbol script.
    6. Select the array of Instances and run the RandomReplaceSymbol script.
    ...and so on.

  • I can't delete just one symbol in Pages

When I place a marker on the right of a symbol I want to delete and then press Delete an entire word is being deleted. Also when I want to mark just one or several symbols an entire word is being marked as well. I'm using the template "Storyboards". I feel it's going to occupy a big portion of my time trying to figure out on my own how to make this to act as I want it to, so I'd be grateful if you told how to delete characters one by one.
    Pages 9.1
    Thanks,
    I.S.

It might be worth checking the User Guide section on Placeholder Text which begins:
    Using Placeholder Text
Templates contain placeholder text, which shows you what text will look like and where it will be placed in the finished document. Most placeholder text appears in Latin (for example, lorem ipsum) in the document body, text boxes, headers, and elsewhere. Other predefined text, such as the title of a newsletter, appears in the language you’re using.
You click to select the placeholder text and then type your own text to replace it. The text you type keeps the same style and formatting as the placeholder text. If you don’t want to use the style and size of fonts the placeholder text uses, you can change the selected text by clicking the font family and font size controls in the format bar.
Here are ways to work with placeholder text:

  • Logical symbols in pages for IPad? Asking for help

I have a new IPad and I would like to define logical symbols on my keyboard (just like ą, ę and so on). Is there some way to do it and to use it in PAGES for IPad? I would prefer to have few math symbols defined directly under some bottoms and not to use copy/paste. (I tried to find in Pages for IPad some special characters, but there are no such things, perhaps it is possible to add it?) I have also small separated keybord (perhaps this could be somehow used...?)

Afraid you cannot define custom characters for any keyboard in the iPad. What accented characters there are can be shown by holding the appropriate letter down.

  • Inserting a link to access a PDF in a Pages newsletter?

I am creating a newsletter and would like to include some forms and additional PDF's that the readers can access through clicking on links in the newsletter, versus adding the entire form or PDF as an additional page in the newsletter. After clicking on the link I want the PDF's to open in a new document window. I want the entire thing to be accessible offline so the PDF's would need to be included in the newsletter when it is downloaded...is this called embedding?
Can anyone tell me how to do this?

    Hi
Unfortunately this can only be archived using a combination of actionscript and javascript. You are probably better advised posting this question on the flash forum at - http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash.

  • Where are the alignment guides in Pages 5?

In the old version of Pages I could drag down or across from the ruler and would have an alignment guide. Where is that in Pages 5?

It looks like Apple took every feature that could not be supported in Safari out of Pages for mac.
    I recommend switching to http://www.adobe.com/products/incopy.html
It turns out "free" means "worthless" to Apple.
