ALL about fps for DUMMIES
I am new to the world of final cut suite/pro ... is there a recommended book to learn about frames per second etc... you know the basics of video.... i.e what is written below? I am interested in getting an HMC40 panasonic... I would like to eventually do weddings and some painting with light stuff.... this is kind of in my price range... unless you have any other ideas for a camera for me?
1080i60 is NOT 60fps. It is 29.97fps. There is a HUGE confusion about this because of the naming convention. When you see an "i" before the number, it indicates INTERLACED, and therefore FIELDS per second. So 1080i60 is 60 FIELDS per second, and two fields make a frame, so that means that it is 30fps running at 29.97. It doesn't matter that it is saying 59.94...that again is a bad naming convention. it is 29.97. When you have a "p" in front of the number it means PROGRESSIVE, or FULL FRAMES...so 720p60 is 60 PROGRESSIVE frames...60 full frames per second.

I'm actually going to do a series of training DVD's next year because the deal is just too sweet to pass up, and I don't have to shoot/edit them either. I love that.
But gotta say, that last chapter 13 in that book will teach you a thing or two. In fact I think you could actually do that book in FCP 7 and it still would work OK. My mistake with it is having you repeat what I edited exactly by timecode. But hey, you'll learn to type it fast.
That said, you'd do yourself a big favor if you took the pro training classes near you if you have them available. It will save you months of trying to teach yourself.
This stuff isn't learned overnight, and it's getting worse I think. LOL... I remember the days of 9 tape formats and thought THAT was too many. How many codecs/frame rates/sizes are there now? I don't even want to think about it... It's plain stupid if you ask me. I want someone like RED to win, then we just deliver to h.264 flavors and consumers get something like AVCHD and that's the end of it. Course I want all the different frame rates but that's it man... Yeah, I know, a pipe dream.

Terminology in describing devices is making it difficult for me to find the correct machine. My wife's Surface allows me to use her stylus to sketch directly on the screen in Photoshop. No other tools or attachments required. I simply open up photoshop and I can write on the canvas with the stylus. Terms like touchscreen and digitized screen are used so loosely that I can't figure out what other devices, still portable like the Surface but with a larger screen, will actually work the same way. I realize that nothing like I'm describing would be suitable for a brilliant artist but I can't even draw a stick figure on the Dell XPS 18; it ignores the existence of the stylus though Paint pics it up just fine; of course Paint is extremely crude and will not open my Photoshop projects. Nothing about system requirements helps me to figure this out. The system requirements just reveal the minimum requirements needed to run the software. I've turned to this forum because the only solution I can think of is to lean on someone with experience. I can't go out and buy every device out there until one works; eventually the stores would quit letting me return them...

My rue la la app for ipad stopped working. I deleted the app and tried to reinstall it, it is no longer available in the app store and when I research it on safari and find it when i try to install it says that it is not available in the us store. What is that all about?
My app did the exact same thing. It is still unavailable on the App Store and when Rue La La's site directs you to download their app, the "not available in the U.S. message appears. This happened to me last night. The app wasn't working, I deleted it and was just going to reinstall but was unable to find the app. I figured it was some glitch but I have tried multiple times this afternoon to no avail.

If we have already paid for data why can't we store it so if someone on the plan is traveling or in an area without wifi if the plan is in jeopardy of going over it could pull from the storage. I have five (5) lines and 10g and rarely use more than half but occasionally there is the possibility of going over. It seems unfair when for months I have paid for and not used it all. It would be a really good marketing move to offer this to those who might be ready to switch cell phone carrier.

Of course if you would be paying $70 more/month to switch to More Everything you should stick with your old Nationwide plan. Not everyone who switches will be paying more, though, and would need to be determined on a case by case basis by the customer.
It's obvious Verizon is only doing this to squeeze us of Unlimited. If they were really worried about Network Optimization they would throttle anyone who uses more than 5GB of data a months not just those still on Unlimited Data. This is not the case. When someone who pays for ACTUAL usage, the increased revenue can help Verizon offset the cost of increasing capacity. When you have a SET REVENUE stream on an unlimited data plan, this IS NOT the case. Increased revenue leads to more money available to be used on infrastructure. -
i have read up on all about crashes and i cant even open it in safe mode :( i have tried deleting it and reinstalling it but the problem still persists. What would you suggest i do and is there any way i canget hold of firefox 6 for mac?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

Messages has replaced all my text with a load of letter A's in boxes. What is that all about. When I type a new one it is fine until I hit enter then the same thing applies. Has anyone a fix for this?

Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them.
Start up in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Restart as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
If you still have problems, then from the Font Book menu bar, select
File ▹ Restore Standard Fonts...
You'll be prompted to confirm, and then to enter your administrator login password.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable. -
Serial number? I have a MacBook Air (mid 2011). When I go into about this Mac or any of the other ways to look up the serial #,all it says for serial number is systemserial#. Is there a way to fix this?

When syncing my iPad with my computer I keep getting the notice ' waiting for changes to be applied '. What is this all about ?
If everything is working OK, I believe it simply means that the iPad and iTunes are communicating and that any changes that you made to the sync configuration are waiting to go through. If you updated apps on the iPad and they get transferred into iTunes or if you download new songs onto the iPad and they are being transferred into iTunes, any app data that moves back and forth - those would be changes that need to be applied.
If you can't finish the sync and that's why you are asking, can you provide more specific details? -
I synced about 50 books to my new ipad air 2. When I click any other books, the sync starts all over again for all books (it shows 51 books syncing). If I abort the sync, all of a sudden, all books are gone from my ipad. I don't know why. I did not have this problem on my old ipad...or before I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on. -
On iPhoto I can see all the pictures for one event, but about 9 out of 106 I can't move to print or place it anywhere else?

Upgraded this morning. All worked fine for about 30min then "no service". Still the same problem and a reset of the device only fixes the problem for 15min. then we are back to no service?? When will apple fix this???
Tried to reset network settings ...only fixes it for 15min. Did a firmware restore and a clean new phone setup. no settings restore. still have network service after around 60min. still running 6.1. i do get a prompt that i have to update settings to LTE. Have not excepted the settings as yet. Cellular data is still set to 3G....

Hi, I recently downloaded photoshop elements for dummies from ibooks to use on my ipad, the book refers to pictures throughout however what are supposed to be pics and diagrams only show up as a ?. Im unsure why and dont know how to get the pictures to show. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

*Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
*Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

Sorry if you thought this was a guide for dummies, though it could turn out to be if I get some help - I'm the dummy!
Not wanting to be left out, I too have had a host of issues trying to install this, over several days now... it feels like bashing your head against a brickwall. After staying up till 4am last night, then wiping my laptop and reinstalling Windows AGAIN to start from scratch this morning, and encountering the cranio-mural interface again, I feel like a crash test dummy!
I am installing on a new installation of Windows Vista Home Basic, I have a gig of RAM and plenty of hard drive space.
Forgive me if this is an ignorant question, but do I need to install the Loopback adaptor if I'm connected to the internet? If it's to generate an IP address, surely my computer has one. Note networking is not my strong point (though I'm an ok programmer - one project manager even gave me 4 out of 10!) - please be kind! Anyway, I have tried with and without this on my various attempts.
ANYWAY.... the sorry saga goes like this...
I seem to be able to install Max DB OR SAP NW 7.01 ABAP Trial Version u2013> NSP, but not both at the same time - I may have done once, and it seemed to work once, I even managed to sign on - then it wouldnt work in the morning - but then that was on Windows XP Pro on my wife's laptop which only has 500 meg of RAM.
My last attempt was fairly typical - Max DB is showing up in the program menu, but SAP NW 7.01 ABAP Trial Version u2013> NSP is not.
However, I seem to have managed to start the NSP server ok, using SAP Management console, thanks to a handy tip on this forum about using your Windows OS password when it prompts for credentials.
When I try to sign on I get 'partner 127.0.0.1:sapdp00 not reached WSAECONNREFUSED: Connection refused - error number 10061, return code -10, system call connect.
That's one of my better attempts.
Last night having deleted all the installed files from my C drive, uninstalled everything, tinkered with the registry to remove all relevant entries, I managed to run an installation that skipped out installing MaxDB (it was super quick!), yet did install the SAP NW 7.01 ABAP Trial Version u2013> NSP bits in my program menu - imagine my excitement at being able to start and stop the server, yet with no database it produced red windows on my screen saying 'sorry, you screwed up AGAIN' (or words to that effect). Trying to sign on produced equally disheartening error messages...
Am going to give it another try after taking a break, next time WITH loop back adaptor installed...
Please pardon lack of relevant detail, I didnt note everything I did on every attempt - substituting humour for detail is all that's saving my sanity at this stage...
Anyone that can help me achieve this will be my friend for ever... I'm a contractor bitten by the recession trying to learn some news skills.... the first one being how to install Netweaver at home...!
