All apple apps are crashing
Hello everyone! I have a Macbook Pro i purchased at the start of this year. It's been working beautifully. I recently installed Transmit (ftp program). I've noticed since then my macbook is constantly dying. Not sure if it's related to that app or not.
Now if i come back from sleep mode, i can login, and every Apple app will crash. No other app will. So Safari, calendar, mail, messages, app store. All will be crashed. I have to force quit everything and restart the mac. I cannot force quit and reload the app, it will just crash again.
I have done constant backups using our Time Capsule pretty much everyday, and i also have Mountain Lion installed from the App Store.
I'm not sure how to fix this problem, on Macrumours i was told to re-install the operating system. I'm not sure how to go about this, and i'm worried about not having all my information on here.
Any help and advice please? Thanks!
I think i'm just going to go for a fresh start and wipe the whole thing. Is there anyway at all i can do this, and then select items from my timecapsule backup?
For example, certain files from my downloads folder.
Or do i need to do a restore from backup? But that might bring back the errors.....Grrr!
The only importan things i have on my mac are my photo library and my music collection, everything else is not important

home screen >> options >> status
you get to a page. Can you read the value displayed behind the "File free" ?
it should always be more than 5'000'000.

App store and Mail app are crashing in my mac air 10.9.5
All my apps are crashing and i am not able to open any of them . App store for Software update and Mail app, Photos app are all crashing. I have OS X 10.9.5 in my system. I removed Parallels trail version and also Clean My Mac app, Still i have the issue,Please help me to resolve the issue,
"CleanMyMac" purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. -
WHen I first installed iOS 6 the App Store crashes...and now having iOS 6 for 2 weeks now, all my apps are buggy and now are crashing! Safari and built in apps are becoming slow and crash. I hate how apple leaves iPod touch 4g and iPhone 4 in the dark and basically force us to upgrade to newer devices. Apple could of done better with the update and needs to resolve these issues.
Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

The App store crashing is a known problem.
IOS 6 App store crash: Apple Support Communities -
I recently downloaded iOS 6. After downloading, all my applications are crashing. Including Safari, App Store, etc. What to do ?
Sounds like a corrupted file in system software. Boot into Recovery Mode and run Disk Utility. Most likely it will find a problem and be able to correct it. Read about Recovery mode here:
OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support
You may need to reinstall OS X as part of this. I hope you have a Time Machine backup?
Good luck! -
Had to change Apple ID when updating to IOS 5; all my apps are still associated with old ID
I was forced to change my Apple ID to an email address when updating to IOS 5; now I have lots of problems because all my apps are associated with my old ID (for some reason they did not update to the new ID name). How do I fix this?

Help...please?How old is this machine? If it's less than 90 days old you have 90 days of Free AppleCare coverage, call them! You will find the phone number in your manual. If it's out of AppleCare or you bought it used take it your local Apple Store or AASP to have it looked at. We don't have enough information to know what the problem might be. You can run some tests such as Apple Hardware Test in Extended Mode 2-3x to see if it has any hardware errors. Beyond that it's really tough to say.

Many apps are crashing on start
My co-worker on an iMac running 10.6.8 today started having an issue where many apps are crashing on startup. They all have this stack trace in Thread 0, the thread that crashed:
0 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x9505aaa3 CFDictionaryContainsKey + 83
1 com.apple.HIServices 0x9720cc78 _RegisterApplication + 4761
2 com.apple.HIServices 0x9720b9b3 GetCurrentProcess + 50
3 com.apple.HIToolbox 0x96a43e73 GetSystemUIMode + 47
4 com.apple.HIToolbox 0x96a43e15 IsMenuBarVisible + 41
5 com.apple.AppKit 0x93693de6 _NSInitializeAppContext + 59
6 com.apple.AppKit 0x936936a0 -[NSApplication init] + 738
7 com.apple.AppKit 0x936931d9 +[NSApplication sharedApplication] + 153
8 com.apple.AppKit 0x936921b1 NSApplicationMain + 358
I've tried creating a new user on the machine and the crash still happens. Verify Disk in Disk Utility showed no problems. In desperation I even tried repairing disk permissions but, as expected, that didn't help.
Apps that crash:
Adobe CS4 apps
Office 2008 apps
iPhoto 6.1.8
Graphic Converter 7.2
iMovie 8.0.6
QuickTime Player 7.6.3
LabVIEW 9.0.1
Three different programs I wrote
HP Scan 1.1.1
Remote Desktop Connectrion 1.0.1
Apps that don't crash:
Safari 5.1.7 (although it has errors displaying some web pages including apple.com but not yahoo.com)
Mail 4.6
Screen Sharing 1.1.1
iCal 4.0.4
Preview 5.0.3
QuickTime Player 10.0
System Preferences 7.0
TextEdit 1.6
Dictionary 2.1.3
Terminal 2.1.2
Gimp 2.6
Disk Utility 11.5.2
So the problem isn't specific to non-Apple apps but almost all of the apps that don't crash are Apple apps. The only non-Apple app that doesn't crash is Gimp, which isn't even an OS X app.
Yesterday he installed iTunes 10.7 and Security Update 2012-004. He installed them at noon and everything worked for the rest of the day.
Does anyone have any ideas?Well, I gave up and restored from a Time Machine backup from yesterday morning. Everything is working fine now. I am reinstalling iTunes 10.7 and Security Update 2012-004 to see what happens.

I deleted all Apple apps when I got the computer and installed Microsoft windows for Macs and Firefox. Most recently, the Firefox browser keeps crashing so I'm thinking of reinstalling all of the mac applications and programs, but not sure how to do it. I had deleted all Mac apps that I could find including Safari. ny idea how to reinstall? I cannot access the internet from the Macbook Pro because Firefox has stopped working.
There is only one way to do that: reinstall OS X. Try this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -
Apps are Crashing. It started with The Daily, now it happens repeatedly with other apps. Any fixes?
Try these:
1) Double-tap the home button and press an icon at the bottom until the minus sign appears. THen touch the minus sign on all the icons to kill the apps.
2) Then, press and hold the home and power buttons for 10 seconds, until the apple appears. Allow the ipad to restart.
If the problem persists, you may need to restore the ipad from within the computer's itunes program. -
Many of my app are crashing....if I restore to original settings will this solve the problem? I've synced with my desktop computer.....so, after "restore" I can then sync and reinstall without loosing stuff?
If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps then try closing them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
My itunes has stopped playing music. I recently downloaded more music and now it has stopped playing, it says it is playing but there is no sound and the time bar does not move from 0. I have uninstalled all apple apps on my laptop and reinstalled and then updated the software. I have tried 'repair' aswell but nothing has worked.
Songs in the itunes store are also not working
