All apps expired after upgrading to Windows 10

I have a Lenovo Y40 running that was running Windows 8.1 with the user account linked to a Microsoft Account. I upgraded to Windows 10. After upgrading the search bar did not work (nothing could be typed into it), action center would not start, and all apps (e.g. Edge browser, settings etc.) failed to open with the message "Your trial period for this app has expired....". I checked PC info (using the old fashioned my computer -> properties way) and It says Windows is activated so this is not an activation problem. Has anyone else encountered this and have a workaround. Thanks!

The upgrade came through the standard sign up program via the windows icon that appeared on the task bar a few weeks ago after a windows update. There was a notification that the windows update had been downloaded and was ready to be installed so I installed it. Note, the exact same process worked flawlessly on my wifes Surface 3.

I noticed your posts about the issue you are having when you attempt to install your printer on Windows 8.1. I am going to share some suggestions with you.
1. Check that Internet Explorer pop-up blockers are turned off before downloading the installer

Try to install
2. If you're running McAfee Live Safe or any other firewall, please temporarily disable the "real time scanning".
How to disable realtime scans
Try the install
3. Go to the start screen (you may also press the windows key + R to open the run box) and type %WINDIR% this should show the windows folder.
Click on the folder and scroll until you see files. Look for a filed named "HPWINS*.DAT" (the * is for a number that varies) remove this file and try the installation.

All apps deleted after upgrading to iOS 5

I upgraded to iOS 5 today, everything went fine, but all my apps were deleted and I don't know why.
I've tried restoring from back up, but the most recent back up is without the apps.
Is there any way to fix this? I have my pictures, music, and everything else, but no apps.

Ok, the exact same thing happened to me - all my apps got deleted! I wasn't impressed. But I figured it out in the end! Go to the App Store app, click on update, then hit the purchased icon. All the apps you've ever had onyour phone (purchased or not) will be displayed. Click on each and every app individually, and every app will be installed back on your phone! Previous usernames and passwords will be remembered - it's like they never got deleted in the first place! Hope this helps!

Keyboard wireless key not working after upgrading to windows 8.1

I am having hp pavilion dv6-6165tx notebook, where keyboard having a wireless button that turns ON and OFF all wireless devices, After upgrading to windows 8.1, HP Connection Manager is not getting installed, as well as Key is not working, key color turns red and white but no action is performed.
Kindly suggest me some solution.
Note: HP Doesn't provide drivers for windows 8/8.1 ONLY WINDOWS 7 for hp pavilion dv6-6165tx.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-6165tx Notebook and the Wireless keyboard not working correctly. Here is a link to troubleshoot the keyboard.
The HP Connection Manager is something that is for Windows 7 not Windows 8.1. I would uninstall this from your Notebook. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating. It has a troubleshooting tool in this.
Make sure all your updates have been completed. I would try restarting my Notebook a few times.
If that does not help I would uninstall the keyboard from the Device manager.

My HP LaserJet 1536 Scanner will not work after upgrading to Windows 10

I just upgraded to Windows 10, and now the scanner will not work, although I can still print. I downloaded the latest driver, but this does not seem to help. The error message I get states that scanner communication cannot be established. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

I would start with the simple, have you tried just restarting the computer? Have you made sure your computer has all of it's windows updates? How can I tell if my computer is up to date? Most products do have updated software available for Windows 10, did you install the correct driver?HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver I've also seen a few posts that say the Windows 8.1 driver will work for Windows 10 as well, so you could try that too.  HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. I recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor, if it doesn't fix it automatically let me know what errors or messages you receive.  Do you know if you are able to scan using Paint? (It's the same for Windows 10, from what I've been told)Right-click the Start button () in the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, and then type ...Click Paint in the results.Click File, and then click From scanner or camera.Select your printer, click OK, and then click Scan. Sound distorted after upgrade to windows 10

Yup, you're not the only one with audio problems. I have a HP Split X2 also, my model is the m121-sa. The problem is that the company that makes the audio chips is IDT which has been sold to a new company called Tempo Semi Conductors (This has been done in early 2014). The new company will have to provide new Windows 10 drivers to support our audio chips, whilst they have made Windows 10 drivers for their newer chips; our old ones has no current drivers made officially for Windows 10. Microsoft are aware of this problem and will not be making any drivers - their solution is to use the Microsoft drivers by unistalling the driver through device manager and updating the driver to the Microsoft High Definition ones. The problem with the HP Split is that you loose beats audio and the audio is quiet, but it works on all apps. NEITHER HP OR MICROSOFT WILL PROVIDE A DRIVER That is above the IDT .6499. It is upto Tempo Semi Conductors to do this and they don't provide end user drivers but OEM's like HP. The problem only lies with metro apps, win32 apps such as Chrome has audio working... If you are having problems with the audio being quiet with the HP Windows 8 drivers (IDT), use the following settings. (though, I think my laptop is defective, but my warranty is gone so, I just turn up the treble - even though it sounds high pitched) On a side note, my other laptop (Toshiba) have been good by providing drivers for all components - Hopefully, Tempo do provide support for IDT as not only HP but other companies also use this chip. By the way, do you problems with start menu being black and blurrly text? For some reason, Windows 8 drivers don't do this but Intel Windows 10 drivers do this. Miracast also only works on the .37 driver and not the newest Windows 10 driver; will need to test this further. Yes there are new TEMPO drivers, but these again are for the new chips and not our old ones. After upgrading to Windows 8.1 firefox longer works. I got it to load but screen is either blank or doesn't go to target address

after upgrading to Windows 8.1 from 8 nothing works correctly. Firefox 1st received 'unable to load XPcom' After resetting and uninstalling several times Firefox now loads to either a support screen or blank screen. It accepts address input but doesn't execute to target. So far I have been unable to roll back upgrade.
Although IE11 works, it doesn't work correctly.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Hi.....my laserjet 1536dnf mfp was working perfectly with win 8 pro....then I installed win 8.1 pro and now the computer ,which is part of a network,can not communicate with the scanner of the printer--it prints just fine. On another computer (running win 7 ) on the same network, the scanner and all other printer functions work just fine.
I have tried installing the latest drivers from HP......scanner still not "communicating" with computer.....also temporarily disabled firewall.....please help...all the best -David G (gossat)

Loss of internet connectivity after upgrading to windows 8.1

Hi, After upgrading to windows 8.1 from windows 8 i am experiencing major problems , loss of internet connectivity for no reason both I.E. and G/CHROME are now taking an age to open there are no virus issues as far as i can see.
I have uninstalled and re-installed windows 8.1 about four times over the past 9 months or so and the same thing happens after all the updates are in it runs like a dream for say 6weeks or so then i get the same faults as described above then i uninstall/ re-install ok for 6 weeks .

I understand that after updating to Windows 8.1 about every 6 weeks you loose wireless connectivity for no reason and the web pages are very slow to open. If you uninstall and reinstall Windows 8.1 it works fine again for about the same amount of time. You have done this about 4 times with the same result each time.
Do you know if there is any changes at that time , perhaps an update?
You stated you do not believe you have any viruses. Just to be sure here are two links that will help confirm that.

S3-S440 no wifi after upgrading to Windows 8.1

After upgrading to windows 8.1, the wifi is not working anymore.
I cannot find the wifi driver in the device managerment and I cannot see any information about wifi driver.
I try to re-setup the driver many times and checked the wireless module was enabled in the BIOS. But it is no progressing at all. I can only access to the Internet through the wire now...

You should go into the Control Panel / Sound to assure that your sound device is set to Default. Also, right click on the speaker icon in the Taskbar / Playback devices and check that your speakers are displayed.

Bluetooth Not Working after upgrading to Windows 8.1

That is very interesting, because I didn't know of anyone who upgraded to W8.0 with a Ralink wireless card with the BT 3.0 radio that got the BT to work at all.
We tried the W7 drivers, and they didn't work.
That is why you don't see a W8 Ralink BT driver for the bluetooth on your PC's support and driver page amongst the other 11 drivers listed.
The Ralink 3.0 version of BT is not supported in W8.
While somehow the BT has worked in W8 for you, I'm afraid your luck has run out.
Unless by some fluke, HP installed a card with the BT 4.0 radio on your model...
You can try this W8 driver for the Ralink card with the BT 4.0 radio, but don't get your hopes up.

Networking Issues after Upgrading to Windows 8.1

I have a Windows 8 desktop PC that is working fine with my network. I can browse the Internet fine using all major browsers etc. After upgrading to Windows 8.1 through the Windows Store I noticed that my wired networking was not working correctly.
The status of the network does not change (i.e. it doesn't change to Limited Connectivity) however browsing to sites in Chrome, IE or Firefox doesn't work as well as Windows 8.
IE11 gives me the error "This page can't be displayed, make sure the web address is correct" and other browsers give a similar error. I normally have to refresh 2-3 times to get a new page to load, sometimes even more. Everything works
fine from a laptop connected at the same time so it isn't an network issue with my provider.
I thought this might be a driver issue with the two on-board Marvell wired network adapters. I wasn't able to rollback the driver to older versions I found on the Internet. I then purchased another network card, Intel Desktop gigabit and the
issue still persists with that adapter. I then tried a USB wireless adapter and the issue still persists using wifi with the wired adapters disabled. I tried a new network cable and no luck either. I also tried resetting the IP stack using
the various netsh commands.
After that I thought I might try reset the Windows 8.1 PC, however that didn't work as I didn't have the restore image available as I upgraded from the Windows Store. I then tried installing Windows 8.1 fresh using a ISO with my Windows 8 key using
some of the recent guides that are available. That all worked but it didn't fix the networking issues.
I re-installed Windows 8.0 and the networking is now fixed and back to working normal again. I'd like to try again but I think I will have the same problems. I can't imagine why this would be a driver issue as I tried 3 different network adapters
and two installs of Windows 8.1. Any ideas what would be the cause of the Windows 8.1 issue?

Since this issue only occurred in the your desktop PC, and many network adapters you tried, failed, thus I think maybe we should focus on the model of your desktop PC, I suggest you update the BIOS and chipset from the manufacture to improve
the performance of win8.1.
Please also test this issue in safe mode with networking.

The issue occurs in safe mode as well under Windows 8.1. The motherboard is an Asus P5B Premium, however it works on Windows 8. How would I update the chipset when booted into Windows 8.1? In Device Manager it wasn't allowing me to update
the network drivers as they were newer versions already installed.
Edit: I also installed at Intel Chipset Device software dated 8/8/2013 with version 9.4.0.1026 and the issue still occurs. I am also running the latest BIOS that is available.

T430u hangs after upgrading to Windows 8.1

Hi, after upgrading to Windows 8.1 my Lenovo T430u started to freeze on some applications (specially ms Excel 2013). Sometimes the network connection was lost.
I did a clean install of Windows 8.0 and after downloading and reinstalling all drivers everything was working perfectly. Until I upgraded to Windows 8.1 again.
Now I'm having the exact same issues than I had when I first upgraded to Windows 8.1. I have installed all OS patches as suggested by Windows Update.
Is there any Windows 8.1 OS image that I can download from Lenovo that is tested for my machine? Or should I go back and reinstall Windows 8.0 and live with it?
