All apps, music, video showing up as "other" content and cannot be accessed
I only use one computer for this ipod touch. I plugged it in to the USB and it showed no music, no video - but lots of oranage "other" content. All of the apps are gone. Each time I look on itunes to see the apps, they are lighter and nothing can be moved. I tried clicking on the sync apps, but then it locks up. I just downloaded the newest itunes software and that didn't help. I have added songs, deleted songs, tried adding lyrics to a song under "get info". Nothing is helping.
I have notes and other things stored on there that I need, so I don't want to restore.
This happened before, and I was able to sync the apps and it resolved, but now I cannot sync the apps because it locks up each time (using the old and newer itunes software).
This is a 2nd gen ipod touch 32. No problems until a month ago.
Press and hold the Home button and the Wake / Sleep buttons at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple logo appears.
If that does not work then you need to Restore the iPod software in iTunes.

I currently have Lion, when I upgrade to Mountain Lion, all my apps, music, videos and other files will be erased?
Lion dropped application support for PowerPC. An OS may drop or change what to use to open a file, not the file.
Of course CCC is what many have used for 10 yrs now and it is or will be $20 like SuperDuper - commercial.
Always use something like those in addition to or instead of TimeMachine. -
When i plug my ipod in, it shows up on desktop as a hard drive, but wont show up on itunes. All my music/videos everything has been wiped off somehow, restored it and still wont work! Please help!
- Have you tried the troubleshooting here:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
- You can try disabling the camer notification

- Do you have any camera, scanner or similar software installed? That may prevent iTunes from seeing the iPod. -
I recently bought a Macbook Pro and I wanted to sync my iPad (Which has all my music, videos, ect..) with it.
I transfered my purchases but my other music and videos did not transfer, as I did not purchase them.
Is there any way that I can sync them on my Macbook with out going to my old computer (which hardly works) and actually copying the file
to the Macbook? You must first sync the iPhone with the old Mac as you normally do, then move the entire iTunes Library from the old Mac to the new one.
An iPhone can only be synced with one computer at a time. When you first sync the iPhone with the new Mac, you will "erase and sync". This will erase the entire phone first, then sync it with the content you moved from the old Mac.

My iphone 4 has no data storage. I have deleted all apps, music and texts and it still says I only have 1.9 GB available. There is nothing in my storage.
The problem could be that you don't have enough storage on the device itself, not on iCloud. Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available on the device. Farther down the list is the available storage on iCloud.
Also check:
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud as well. Tap Show All Apps to get the complete list of apps and MB used for backup storage.
A device needs many MB of storage in order to perform a backup to iCloud.

when upgrading the operating system mac os x 10.5 to 10.6, should i do a back of my computer or if i do it directly i would loss all my music, videos, documents, etc?
Hi ocio,
First of all, you should always do a backup of your computer before doing an upgrade - always.
Things can go wrong, and if they do, you will be out of luck without a backup.
Upgrading should not affect your music, videos, documents, files in general. But don't take any chances in case things go awry....back it all up first!
Cheers,

I'm restoring a new iPad 2 (shattered the original). Backed it up on the iCloud and have restored all apps, music, photo albums, etc. However, the photo stream has not activated, so no photos have downloaded. Photo Stream is fine on my Iphone and Mac.
Hello there, Tamghosh.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some good steps to use for troubleshooting the issue you're describing:
iCloud: Photo Stream troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989
Particularly:
I don't see photos in Photo Stream on my iOS device.
Check the following:
From your Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream, and make sure the slider is set to the ON position.
From the Home screen, tap Settings > Wi-Fi, make sure the slider is set to ON, and that your device is connected to a wireless network.
Ensure that Camera app is closed on the device where you took the photo. Photo Stream will not upload photos from an iOS device until the Camera app is closed.
Ensure your iOS device has not fallen below 20% battery power. To preserve battery life, Photo Stream downloading and uploading are disabled when the battery reaches this threshold. Downloading and uploading will resume once you charge your device, and the battery charge is greater than 20%.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

Hi, I recently discovered my ipod touch would no longer turn on. I've tried everything! All it does is show the low battery sign, and that is if it's connected to a computer. No matter how long I leave it charging, it does that. Is there a way to fix it? All I want are my contacts and my old calendar back. These did not sync with iTunes like my photos, music, and video. I can probably get an older, replacement iPod, but I don't want to have to readd all my important dates and reminders, as well as contact information. I guess I have two questions:
1) is there a way to get my ipod to start working again?
2) is there a way to get my old contacts and calendar back again?Try here:
iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
To get the calender and contacts back if you can't get the iPod working is to restore the new iPod from the backup of the old one. -
itunes will not load on my ipad. Icon is there. When I open "Music", it shows itunes with no content briefly and then takes me back to home page. What to do?
Quit the app and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
I have set up a second iTunes user account on my PC, but when I create the new iTunes account it copies the music, videos etc from the original account and they seem to be linked, so that when I delete a song from one library it deletes from the other one.
On the online tutorials I've seen it shows that when you create a new iTunes library it should open as a blank account, but that isn't happening.
What am I doing wrong? If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

Need to convert music videos that are tagged as "Movies" and re-rag them as "Music Videos" to get them out of my movies library and into the Music Video folder. Likewise, I have some educational videos that belong in "Podcasts." Help?
Select/highlight the ones that you want to change in your iTunes library, do Get-Info (control-I) and change their Media Kind on their Options tab to 'Music Video' - and then similarly for the podcasts.

Can anyone tell me how to tranfer the music that is on my Shuffle to iTunes? When I go to Sync it, it gives me a warning that all the music on my Shuffle will be deleted and replaced with what is on my iTunes. I recently changed computers from an HP to a Mac-Mini and did not transfer/sync the itunes prior to getting rid of my itunes. So the music I had on itunes does not appear in my library. Help please!
See this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your new Mac and into iTunes.

I'm looking for a media manager outside of fcpx, any good ones?
I would like to meta tag and properly organize and categorize all my clips so I can find things under separate searches. Any software available for mac? I know FCPX can do this but I want something outside of FCPX. Thank you.
