All Apps not working except for Apple pre-installed Apps

Last night I installed a couple of new apps from the app store and a few podcasts through iTunes (using sync). Phone worked fine afterwards, including the new apps I installed. This morning I noticed that when I try to run an app it starts to load and then immediately closes and returns to the phones main screen. After trying to launch several different apps, I realized that the only apps that will run are those which came pre-installed with the phone. None of additional apps (free or purchased) will run. Has anyone ran into this problem? I have tried resetting the phone, no change. The only other thing I can think of is to restore my phone from the back-up. Could this be a virus? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I've been able to solve the problem (short term basis, it does re-occur) by deleting a purchased app (any app, even a free one) then repurchasing it from the phone.
You do need a data connection (3G or WiFi) for this to work, of course.
This is very much a kludge. I hope Apple can get this fixed, it really is a PITA, especially if you are travelling and use the phone as a PDA and phone.

    When my iphone 4 is not plugged in to headphones the sound does not work, and if I try to adjust the sound with the plus and minus buttons in the side it comes up like normal saying "Ringer" but then there is no bar underneath it. Sometimes the sound will work for a couple of minutes. However, there is definitely no problem with the speaker as the alarm always works perfectly fine.
    I have tried restoring it, this did not help.

    No.  What he should be doing is syncing his contacts to an app on his computer or cloud service, then sync them back to the phone (without restoring the backup). 
    Never rely on the backup for contacts.  The contact info stored there may be incomplete and is only meant to maintain the recent calls and favorites lists.

    I have a 13-inch MacBook '08, current version 10.6.8 (can't upgrade to OS X Mavericks – hardware is too old), and I've had a serious problem, and I feel that I've tried EVERYTHING to fix it.
    My Macbook audio output does not work AT ALL while trying to stream video (i.e. YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) or listen to music. When I play with the audio adjustment buttons, it doesn't even make the "popping" sound. It DOES however have audio output when I open Garageband and play the instruemnts i.e. Grand Piano. It also plays the "start up" sound when I boot my MacBook up. Otherwise, the audio seems to not work at all.
    I've played with the "Sound" settings on "System Preferences." I've played with the audio jack (note: there's not red light, so that's not the problem), I've blown into the hole, stuck paper clips in there and fiddled around... nothing. Please help, I'll take any advice!

    Well, even though the input jack had no red light, I performed the actions demonstrated on YouTube in the video "How to fix macbook red light head phone jack" and the problem is fixed.

  • Sound in Safari Not Working (Except on Apple Website)

    A few weeks ago, out of the blue, sounds stopped working on the internet when I used Safari. Sites like Youtube.com, Espn, NYTimes, all became mute.

    There, it tells me to open the Midi Utility and change the audio output frequency to 44100. This works, only when I make the change and quit the utility the changes aren't saved! So, in reality it doesn't really work. Any idea on how to save the changes in midi utility, or to just get the sound back in Safari?

    i have exactly the same problem, but not only with safari, also with netscape.
    i noticed it when i opened youtube.com, and i checked the modem security, the speakers, downloaded the latest flash player version but nothing worked.
    so i downloaded firefox after i noticed the problem, i hoped the sound would work in firefox but it didn't!

  • Apple ID works except for Apple Store

    I tried to buy something from the on-line store but my login was refused. I typed in everything correctly.
    Are the Apple ID for the store the same as that for Mobile Me and as for these discussion groups ?
    It did not send any information to my email address either.

    I have recently had 'this' problem. In my case it seems to be a failure of the store website. In my case and maybe not in yours I had also never used the store before and that meant that I had to use the same ID and PW to actually make an acquisition from the store to have the ID work on the store. There were brief moments when the store did work. Apple told me other bits of the site were flaky as well.

  • Wi-Fi not working, except for safari.

    I'm having the weirdest problem on my iPod touch 4th gen. In my setting, there is no way to connect to my Wi-fi. for some reason, it stoped working recently because i have been usng it in the past. But! Safari manage to get me connected to internet just fine(on my network, it shows me the name and ask for a password, witch is the right one) for some reasons. So I can go on AppStore, the web or my e-mails but none of my games detect that I'm connected.

    Go into the app that wont connect and hold down the top power button untill the slider apears when it appears let go of the top button and hold the bottom button. When you return to the home screen it has completly closeed the appp. So its not running in the background. It will refresh the apps network connection.

  • MSI Gaming App Not Working - Fails to open after install - Want to use OC mode

    Hi, well today I just recovered my GPU from a near fry using MSI Afterburner. Luckily, with help from a moderator on this site, I was able to get it working again. I thought I fried it trying to OC it. I simply want to be able to switch between the modes it is supposed to come with. I have a MSI R9 290, and it is supposed to be equiped with 3 easy "one click" toggling between OC modes, 1007MHz, Gaming mode, 974MHz, and Silent Mode, 947MHz.
    I cannot figure out how to switch between these modes. I used Afterburner and nearly fried my card. I was told not to use that, that is for advanced users, to use instead the (supposed to be bundled, but was not included in my install) MSI Gaming App, to easily switch between the 3 different modes. I downloaded the MSI Gaming App (http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/gamingApp.zip) and installed it. When I tried to run it I get this error:

    So what does this mean, that the Gaming App is not supported by Windows 7 64Bit Professional (which is what I have)?
    Am I doing something wrong, did I install the wrong application. I could not find any others however.
    So I damn near fried my GPU trying to use Afterburner to OC my GPU, and I am very hesitant to try using it again. At this point, I have not even reinstalled Afterburner as I fear it might, just by installing, screw me up again.
    What should I do, is there anything I CAN do?

  • Double click select all does not work in web site's search area after going back.

    After updating from Firefox ESR v24.8.1 to v31.20 double click select all does not work in a search area after going back or searching again with the same input. It happens before clicking search icon and searching for something else double click select all does not work except it works for one word that's all.
    This issue is with all new Firefox ESR and None ESR I have tried. Also the issue is on all web sites like www.softpedia.com for example.

    Bugzilla has a different login system, unfortunately.

    I updated the Facebook app on 1/28/13.  New app not working.  Followed apple and facebook instructions. App still not working. I cannot get to my Family Feud...because..,.it is on Facebook!  I have had my ipad 2 for 20 months with absolutely NO PROBLEMS what so ever...until now.  I just want my old app back!!!

  • RSS not working in Mail after MobileMe instal

    The title pretty much says it all "RSS not working in Mail after MobileMe instal" The names of the RSS feeds are still there but all have the triangle error message beside them.

    you may have already tried this but in the mailbox menu at the top, try to take all accounts offline then take them all back online again. if that doesn't work you can always do a rebuild which is kind of a pain, but it usually does the trick.

    never migrate adobe software.  it should be properly installed.
    uninstall all the cc programs you can, clean and then reinstall per, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

    To change the iCloud ID on your phone you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the new ID.  If you only changed your ID and didn't create an entirely new ID, you can choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted.  Your data will download back to your phone when you sign back in.
    Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll before deleting the account.  Deleting the account deletes the photo stream photos from your phone.
