All audiobooks suddenly unavailable to purchase?

I wanted to purchase 3 audiobooks. The first one went down, no problem. When I wnet to purchase the next one, it gave me a message the audiobook is either unavailable or or available under a different category. I thought it was just that book, but now I have tried to purchase 8 books and I am getting the same message. What's up with that? Help is much appreciated

Me too. I've been reporting the issue since I noticed it Wednesday morning. I'd purchased one audiobook in a series Sunday night and enjoyed it so much that I came back in Wednesday to purchase several more. That's when I started getting the "Availability has changed while you were in the store..." message. These audiobooks play just FINE on my iPod. In fact, the entire reason I bought the iPod last weekend is because so many of my friends use theirs to listen to this series of books.
First answer I got back said "oh well you got that message because we no longer carry that book." Wrong answer. The books are on their most listened to lists, the author is on the most popular lists, I'd just bought one about 48 hours before and can listen to the previews of them before purchasing. So I sent the letter back and informed them of their mistake. That person sent my letter to someone who sent me a list of silly things to do in order to troubleshoot MY connection. Instead, I ran the iTunes diagnostic tool and sent them the result which clearly showed it was not a problem on my end. That person wrote back late Friday to tell me they were seeking help with my issue. I wrote them back and said it's iTunes configuration that needs the help, I'd just like to know when they're going to fix their audiobook "buy" button LOL.
Yesterday I got the not so bright idea of attempting to Gift myself the book. I thought it worked at first. I didn't get the dreaded message. It allowed the purchase, put a record of it in my purchase history, sent the gift notice to my email. It wasn't until I joyfully clicked the link to redeem the gift and download my book at long last, that I received the "availability of this item changed while you were in the store..." message. I sent in a problem ticket and received no answer other than the auto-reply. While waiting to hear from someone about either issue, I got an answer to my previous issue saying that when they checked my purchase history they'd seen that I'd been able to purchase the book in question and were happy that my problem had been resolved!! Oh.My.God. did I ever fly off the handle LOL.
End result of the mess is that they're giving me a refund for the gift and said they are working on the issue regarding the purchasing of audiobooks but didn't have an estimate as to how long it would take to resolve.
Yanno, that is ALL they'd have had to tell me last Wednesday when I started this mess. That's ALL. If they could have just said "Hey, you know how upgrades are. Something got goofed up, we know about it and we're working to fix it." All these other smoke screens to keep me occupied just made it seem like they were clueless.

Would be due to your network
Check speedtest.net to verify current speed
Check istumbler.net or netstumbler to verify any interference

  • I've got a new IMAC, but i don't have all my music or movie purchase on it.  I just recently updated iTunes.  How do I get my purchases back?

Ive got a new iMac and now that i updated iTunes I do not have all my music and movie purchases.  How can I get it all back?.  I used to have it before update

It doesn't magically transfer itself, you have to do it.  Purchase may present themselves for re-downloading but things such as CD are only on the old machine or on the CD.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "... back up your iTunes library. " (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes if you have the sidebar displayed, or with the button at the top right.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

Delete the music in your iTunes library, then go to iTunes store, Quick Link, 'Purchased' to redownload again.

Might have luck with that here >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer on the iTunes Store.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID that was used for the original purchases.

So basically if a iphone has a fault after the 1 year warranty period is over, there is nothing the consumer can do but purchase a new phone??
Pretty much. Except that Apple will replace it for a fixed fee that is far less than the cost of a new phone. In the US the replacement cost for an iPhone 4 is $149. It is comparable in the UK. Unless you can prove that the fault was present at the time of purchase. A switch wearing out would probably be considered normal wear and tear, not a "fault".

ALL of the songs I purchased from the iTunes store stop in the middle of the song and then go back to the begining (I keep it on repeat one song by the way). Please help!!! (Windows 7) I would really like to hear my songs all the way through, but I can't . I tried the "Convert Protected ACC files to Purchased ACC files fix" but it DIDN'T work. I don't know what to do. It does it when I transfer the music onto my Classic too.

What do you mean "doesn't recognize"?

If I touch the Cloud, it turns into a red square, acts like it's downloading (which I can see happening in iTunes), but never downloads. The Cloud just stays there.
I've sync'd my phone, I've turned it to "show all music" in Settings, I've drag and dropped the songs/albums onto my phone again. I feel like I've tried everything I've seen recommended, but nothing works.
I've purchased a lot of music from iTunes. It should be there. What's going on?
P.S. Same thing happening with my purchased books. Ugh.

Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match.  Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

Do i have to manually load the cd's onto my Mac via a portable media unit? Or will that not work? I do not want to have to purchase all my favourite music again

Only purchases appear because they are coming Apple's own copy keeps on the Internet when it sees you have connected a computer without the purchases.  Anything else has to be transferred by you.

The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud.  With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated.  There is no requirement that the ID you use for purchasing be the same as the ID you use for these other services.

  • If I create a new apple ID will I lose all the apps I have purchased with my original ID?

If I create a new apple ID will I lose all the apps I have purchased with my original ID?

I set up FaceTime and Messages on four different devices with only one Apple ID. I used the exact method that is described in the video that AnaMusic has provided to you in the link in her response above.  That method worked fine for my family, but you can create new Apple ID's just to use for FaceTime and Messages if you like. Many users prefer doing that as opposed to adding new email addresses.
IMO - using unique email addresses (like in the video) makes sense, because we (my family) all have different email addresses anyway, and it was very simple to add each family members email address to both apps and remove my Apple ID email address as the contact address on each device.
BTW .... if you are using your Apple ID on both devices - your phone number should be the number that is showing in the settings - not you daughter's. Did you set up the Apps with your Apple ID?
