All automation has MOVED, rendering entire song useless. Why? Help!

Hi.
I have been producing an album for 2 years.
One of the main songs has a LOT of automation in it. Mainly I am using the ringshifter, which has hundreds of automation edits to make a crazy effect.
My Logic was freaking out recently. I was trying to save presets to the desktop. They wouldn't appear, but in the save box they were visible, on the preview.
So, according to Apple's advice on their official site, I deleted the preferences file; something like apple.com.logic
Now, when I loaded the song, all automation had changed. It was as if it had shifted by a fraction. But it's not just that; it all sounds slightly different somehow. All pitch automation on snares and kicks etc has also moved by a fraction. Shifting the timing of the automation doesn't rectify the problem. The original settings were so perfect and sensitive, they can never be replicated. I tried changing buffer size, delay compensation, everything to no avail.
This is unacceptable really. This project is my life, and I gave up everything to do it. It's nearing completion, and now one of the integral songs has changed for no good reason.
Can anyone recommend what I should do?

It didn't really do anything to be honest.
I reinstalled Logic. Same problem.
It is disturbing. I have been making an album for about 4 years and it was nearly finished. We have a promo campaign in place and everything.
EVERY song has changed in some way; particularly delay automation; pitch automation, and ring shifter automation.
This being electronic music, the tracks now just sound ridiculous ... everything is out of place.
I just can't believe this is happening...

Sounds like you have a phone that was hacked to unlock it. Updating has re-locked it to the original carrier. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Contact them.

7.1.5 update renders another program useless! HELP!

After the update installed, I'm unable to open Full Tilt poker. Checked the forums there and everyone who got the update is having the same problem. I even trashed the poker program and downloaded again. No dice. Something in the quicktime update is buggy. No one seem to have a fix yet. Can anyone help me? I go crazy if I can't play poker online every night!

HELP: move all automation - how?

Hi
Need a little help.
I've had to rework a track, including a load of structural changes. Somehow my automation preferences had changed, and no automation data has been moved with regions. As a result pretty much all my automation data (lots of it) is now 8 bars too early.
Please can somebody tell me how I can select ALL automation data for the whole song and move it all 8 bars later.

Another thing you could do is open the automation event list like above, but then launch a new arrange window.
Your automation now shows up as regions in the arrange window which you can select all and drag.
I think you have to select 'do not move' when it asks you if you want to move the automation at this point, if you are moving the data to a later point in the song, or it moves it too far.
If you are moving the data to an earlier point in the song, you will have to cut the regions, and then move them. Cutting with the scissors seems to delete all the automation, but using a split at playhead type of operation works (?).
Sometimes this automation arrange window reverts to a regular arrange window, in which case you have to close the event list and reopen.

I'm afraid no one can help you but the previous owner, who must erase the phone and remove it from their account as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515. All you can do is keep trying to contact the friend you gave it to you.

I have the iPhone 5 and have with 6.0.1 software version. Although I had them when I moved from iPhone 4 to the 5, the latest update has most of my songs on the phone listed in grey (over 95% of them) and I can't play them. They are still listed though.

P.S. When I look at my Playlists most of the songs are greyed out. However, at the bottom of the list there is a cloud icon with a downward facing arrow. When I click on it each song starts to "load" and after a few minutes I have the songs back on in the list. I have to do this to all my playlists (I had over 100) in order to get access to all my songs. Then I did a sync and it happened again!
I use iCloud for documents and some other things (calendar, contact, etc.) but am not aware that I have anything music-wise in the cloud. Any thougnts?

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

I moved my entire iPhoto Library to an external hard drive, which seems to have worked. But now my Mac Pro shows a backup of the same size in the storage info and has not freed up any space. help!

I moved my entire Iphoto Library from my Macbook Pro to an external hard drive. (Prior to this, I also copied the entire library to a different ehd, plus I have 2 other ehdrives with backups). I was trying to get more space on my hd. It has a capacity of 500GB, but was down to 70GB usable, with about 300GB used up by photos. I moved the library by going to Finder, using Command+Drag+Drop onto the new Seagate ext hard drive icon. The move seems to have worked, as the library shows up on the ehd, plus will open from there. My problem is that now my Macbook Pro shows that I STILL have only 70GB available out of the 500, and that 300GB is used up by "Backups", which it did not indicate before.
I cannot find this 300GB "Backup" in the Finder, only in the Storage info when I check "About This Mac".
I have restarted my computer, but the information remains the same. How do I reclaim the use of the 300GB? Why is it showing up as "Backups" when it used to indicate "Photos"? Are my photos safe on the external drive?

You are probably using Time Machine to backup your MacBook Pro, right? Then the additional 300 GB could be local Time Machine snapshots. Time Machine will write the hourly backups to the free space on your hard disk, if the backup drive is temporarily not connected. You do not see these local backups in the Finder, and MacOS will delete them, when you make a regular backup to Time Machine, or when you need the space for other data.

You have tested the library on the external drive, and so your photos are save there.
The local TimeMachine snapshot probably now contains a backup of the moved library. Try, if connecting your Time Machine drive will reduce the size of your local Time Machine snapshots.

Incident 1. Since many months attempts to download new and updated APPs produced a response – Apple ID Disabled. I had no time to consult an APPLE Store due to work in distant lands. When I finally visited yesterday I was told that as my IPAD has been reported as stolen, and APPLE in its wisdom had blocked its usage! I am not sure how they became so misinformed and nobody every advised me while with a few swift moves APPLE could have located me by email address or SKYPE.
Incident 2. Once the above anomaly had been fixed I tried to down load a newspaper and diligently input my address, credit card number and personal data. Repeatedly I was advised that my Credit Card was invalid and my postal code was incorrect! Really!
I was left to guess that having moved from UK to the US I should have advised APPLE! Not being told of this requirement brought about a second visit to APPLE Store in the same day to waste both mine and their time with a routine anomaly. How parochial in the context of a globalized world!
In each case I tried to resolve the issues using online access to a help line and by calling by phone at the numbers on the APPLE Website. In each of four separate occasions I diligently went through the routine and ended up with a message that thanked me for contacting Apple followed by a polite ‘Good Bye’!
In desperation I went to an Apple Store for the second time in a day as it is close to where I live when I am not working. On both occasions I was courteously attended to by Apple Staff.
However, my work is usually far away from the US and it is generally many thousands of miles to the nearest Apple Store therefore online help is viewed as imperative if one is to resolve issues away from home.
Why can Apple not provide a clearly marked EMAIL address and Telephone number at a Help Desk with real people to respond to requests for help? It would cost nothing in relative terms and might restore my high level of anti-APPLE sentiment that these two recent events have provoked.

If that is your question, the answer is at the bottom right of this web page. It is clearly marked "Contact Us" and is the best way, really the only way, to contact Apple.
If there were a publicly posted email address for concerns such as yours, it would be quickly filled with spam in about three minutes, thereby becoming instantly useless to you and everyone else. Apple would need to change it hourly, if not more often. That is also the reason you ought not to post your name, location, and what appears to be your iPad's serial number on this publicly viewable website.
Apple does not respond here and I can find no other questions for your fellow Apple users to answer.

HT1451 I moved my entire itunes file folder to a public folder by mistake and now I'm having trouble moving it back with all of my playlists in tact.

I tried to create a situation where my daughter and I could share our itunes libraries on the same computer. I was following all of the steps but inadvertently moved the entire itunes folder from to the public one instead of just moving the media. I tried to cancel the operation but it failed. Now I can't seem to move it back to it original place. All of my playlists are gone and everything is in iCloud. Is there a way to recover this? This is so frustrating. I have windows running vista. Please help!

Yes, provided all the media is inside the iTunes Media folder, which is in turn inside the main iTunes folder (which is the standard arrangement) you should be able to move the iTunes folder from <User's Music> to any other path and shift-start-Tunes (option-start-iTunes on a Mac) to reconnect to it.
If the media folder has split out to another drive in the past, or media is stored outside of the iTunes Media folder, then things get a bit more complicated. I can go into details should it be necessary.

No. Its not possible.
Alternatively, create another user account in your computer. Install iTunes in that account with the library you wish to sync.

I had the same problem. Had at least 3 of each song in my library... Here's how I fixed it.
Go on iTunes to your library
Hit Shift and click on View
Scroll down to "show exact duplicate items"
the list will give you all your duplicated songs
Click at the top of the "date added" Column to sort by date added.
Even if it all happened the same day it will group your whole library by date and time added.
The time is the key...
You can start at the begining of you list and scroll to the last song that was added that day and time frame.
Everything after your last song is duplicates.
Highlight the first song hold down shift and scroll down to the last song...
Once they are all highlighted you can hit delete and send them all to the recycle bin.

Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match. Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

Try this now.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

If the single songs are no longer available in Itunes, that would also explain why you aren't able to see your purchases.
If the songs are on your phone you can transfer purchases to iTunes app on your computer. You wouldn't be able to download them again though.

There is no information on the help list on how to re-create the library using Windows 8.
