All Browsers Freezing on Certain Websites

I have no idea where to post this, because it involves all of my browsers on Mac OSX 10.5.3. Websites like the Scrabulous Facebook application, and my friend's website Wooohah.com just started freezing up the browsers. The page will load some of the data, and it looks like something else is trying to load, but the browser just locks up and gives me the rainbow spinny ball of death.
I've used Safari, Opera, Firefox, Minefield, Camino, all with latest versions and they all give the same response.
I thought it was something my Internet was doing, but I have no problems on the Windows machines I have in the house. I have no idea where to go on this as it's definitely the Mac only, but it's universal across all my browsers and only on certain sites. I'm not sure if they're trying to load some plugin that's crashing it.
If anyone knows anything I can try, I'm up for it. Last resort is a format/reinstall for me to see if that does anything.

Hi-
The Wooohah.com site works on my G4 with 10.5.3. in Safari.
Try another user account. If you need to, set up a new admin account (maybe call it "Test") and try.
If the problem sites work in the new account, then it is something in your user account that's fouling the works.

  • HELP! All web browsers freeze on certain webpages

Alright I'm baffled at what to do with this problem, hopefully someone can help me.
A few days ago i was browsing the web when it froze up on me. This happens from time to time and not thinking to much about it, i force closed Firefox. Upon restarting it instantly gave me the spinning wheel and i had to force quite again (It does this everytime i try any page on firefox)
I then tried safari and it works for a while but upon going back to the site i was on, it froze up also. Same thing with Rockmelt.
Soooo it seems that certain websites are the cause of the problem. I've reinstalled Firefox, cleared my plugins, disabled java and javascript, I uninstalled flash, i repaired the permissions, cleared the cache. But nothing seems to work.
It happens on wellsfargo when i try to see a pdf of my online statements, and other random sites. I've looked for the problem online but I've yet to find a solution.
If anyone could shed some light on this that would be awesome. Thanks

Thanks for your response, I updated everything but that has not helped.
I did make a dummy user account tho and it seems that i can do everything normally within it, sooo the problem must lie somewhere on my user account.
Any ideas on what this might be?
Well, a number of ways to approach this. Start looking for .plist, prefs, caches which might be culprits. Or migrate everything into your "dummy" account, make it admin, and delete your old admin account. Or reinstall the OS (I believe Leopard has the Archive and Install feature).

  • All browsers freeze in Mavericks

Ever since i've moved from Mountain Lion to Mavericks i'm having major problems with all browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Chromium). They all freeze for 4-5 seconds, and this happens every 1-2 minutes. This happens on every pages i visit, even on 'light' websites like google.com.
I've tried updating all browsers, updating the plugins, disabling all plugins, closing all other running programs but the problem is still there.
I installed a fresh copy of Mountain Lion just to see if i had the same problem, but all browsers worked fine. This happens only on Mavericks.
Can someone please help me with this? I dont want to go back to Mountain Lion again

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot insafe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Web browsers cannot load certain websites.

There are certain websites I am never able to access from my computer.  I've tried to access these sites using Safari (5.1), Firefox, and Google Chrome, and I always get a message stating (at least in Safari) "Safari can't open the page xxxxx.com because the server where this page is located isn't responding."  My girlfriend runs off of the same Airport as I do, and I can access these sites from her computer.  Any idea what's wrong with my computer, since it doesn't appear to be either a browser or ISP issue?
    Thanks!

  • No browsers can load certain websites like Hotmail etc

Certain websites like Hotmail, Microsoft and secure websites starting with https seem to load indefinitely while browser is blank using Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome. I have been having these problems since Monday 22nd August only on my laptop.
I have tried everything suggested in the support and troubleshooting pages and none of them work.
I have scanned for viruses and spyware using 4 different antispyware programs in vain.
I dont think not using the latest version of Firefox would make a difference.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • All browsers stopped loading certain web pages

A couple months ago, Safari stopped loading a couple of websites that I often visit. Notably, wikipedia.org and allofmp3.com stopped loading. I thought it might be a Safari problem, so I tried Internet Explorer...same problem. Once in a while, they would load, but not completely, and it was extremely slow. Now neither of them will load at all. At the time I searched on these discussions and found lots of similar problems (although none exactly like mine). I've literally tried everything that has been posted on here as a solution short of getting a new computer. I have a PowerBook G4 by the way, with OS X 10.4.
Anyways, I've simply lived without these websites, but now another site that I use every day is going down the same path...www.facebook.com. So I'm having another go at fixing the problem. I talked to a techie at an apple store about it once, and he didn't have a clue what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Based on what I have read on here, the sites that don't work vary based on the computer. Therefore, it is not a problem with the websites. Also, it is not a problem with my internet connection (i'm on a University network). The sites suddenly stopped working, and nothing with the network has changed. Also, every other computer on the network has no problems with these sites. Any help? Thanks!

    Hello Ohio!
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
As a general rule you should not have problems browsing on your Mac. However there are times when you will have a problem on a site or two because the webdesigner made it specifically for windows and it causes problems on a Mac. Yahoo is a popular site that has this problem. I have heard a comment or two about Facebook in the past. Most people here use Safari and/or Firefox (Camino) as there browsers as these are the most popular on Mac. Often Firefox can display something properly when Safari can't. Most likely due to the fact that there is also a Firefox on pc. When you mention Internet Explorer I assume you mean on pc? As the Mac version is outdated.
I also have a PowerBook G4 and I can say that with the exception of one or two sites Safari displays everything fine. If I get stuck that's when I open Firefox (Camino though is my preference).
That's all pretty general and I'm not sure if that helps? If you haven't given these sites a run with Firefox try that and then let us know how it goes...
    Thanks,
    Reg

  • Firefox will not load all pics. correctly on certain websites

Example: I go to Snapfish to create a project, I click on an image and it will not load. Simply is not there.
I go to the Nat. Geo. website to shop. Click on t-shirts, it goes to the correct page but there are no images.
Never had this problem with Firefox before.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.
There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

  • How to update a published Muse website on all browsers.

I've updated my Muse site, which works in safari but the updates are not made in chrome. How do I get all browsers to update my website? I'm using a mac and I've already tried inputing different "folder" options (i'm hosting with godaddy). Thank you.

If you update your site, its updated in all(!) browsers.
Perhaps Chromo still has outdated data in its cache. So please clear your browser cache.

  • After "cleaning up" my fonts, all text in certain websites is bold. Please help.

About a week ago, I deleted every font in font book that had a yellow circle (this is a problematic font) warning next to it, thinking that it would help stabilize Word. Now all the text on certain websites, e.g. https://www.lexisnexis.com/start/signin?service=lexis&contractURL=https%3a%2f%2f w3.lexis.com%2fresearch2%2fauthResource.do%3f_m%3d04e7cec9cf984a4030f980679eaa70 6b&key=_c4BE55E57-F002-DA05-DE3F-49B4F056C0EF_kD6B95D8A-DB53-3E64-E981-13ED11BB5 374&event=form, that should be plain shows up bolded. Italicized text does not have this problem. I have only found one other website on which I have this problem (some blog), the problem is that I use the website above all the time.
Chrome, Firefox, Safari, all the same.
    Thanks,

    Hi ..
    Might be a duplicate ..
    Open the Font Book app.
From the Font Book menu bar click Edit > Look for Enabled Duplicates

  • I'm unable to load certain websites across all browsers on a MacBook Pro

Suddenly I'm unable to load certain websites (sundancechannel.fr, sundancechannel.tw, etc.) across all browsers—Safari, Firefox, Chrome—on my new MacBook Pro. Other computers on the same wifi can access those same sites fine.
I either get a won't connect to server message or a blank page.
    Any idea what's going on?
I've thus far tried restarting the connection, clearing my cache, restarting the computer, deleting my history, and even getting in touch with the site owners.

    Cambrey,
that HTML content shows that there’s no content at that Web site — it will only show the heading “301 Moved Permanently” and the single line “nginx/1.2.6”. I suspect that they might have wanted to include a redirection directive in that document, but for some reason, they didn’t. Your browsers are behaving as they ought to do with this Web site.
Have you considered trying www.sundancechannel.fr in your browsers instead of sundancechannel.fr?

Firefox is having problems with certain web sites
    == Description
    ==
When browsing college humor and Gawker network sites, and also occasionally google and forbidden planet, images don't load correctly. This happens across all browsers but I feel firefox may be the root of the problem. This happens on both computers which share my firefox profile, and doesn't affect others in my house such as my iPod Touch.
Any ideas? I really want to sort this out.

  • I get error messages when I try to visit certain websites using Mozilla Firefox but not when I use other browsers

About two days ago I noticed that when I tried to access certain websites using Firefox I always got this error message; "The connection was reset". I initially thought it was a problem with my isp before noticing that the network was fine on my phone and iPad. I then attempted opening the same links that brought up the error message on the TorBrowser and it worked perfectly.
Basically the only website that works on my Firefox browser right now is Google but if I do a search on Google and then click on any link that comes up as a result I get the same error message, "The connection was reset". I can also log into my gmail account but I cannot access any other website including Feedly, Tumblr, Twitter, Yahoo, Wordpress, Blogspot, even though they work fine on my other browser.
I cleared my cache and cookies, wiped out all the browsing history but the problem persisted so I uninstalled Mozilla Firefox and reinstalled it. The problem is still there. I checked the proxy settings, I went through all the solutions on this page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can?esab=a&as=aaq and still nothing. I am not sure what the problem is here but any solution will be much appreciated. I have used Firefox for years now and I am not really comfortable using another browser.
I use a Macbook OS X Version 10.9.4 and the latest Firefox 32.0.1

  • Firefox 18 freezes for a little bit on certain websites

For certain websites Firefox 18 will freeze for about a minute. One of the websites it does it on is GoPro.com. It will do it the first time I visit the site, then as long as the browser is open and I return to the site, it works as normal. As soon as I close the browser then open a new one and I go to GoPro's website again, it freezes. This is the same with some other websites as well.

I've been having this same problem since about v14 of FF, and have investigated it extensively. It's not a Flash or Java problem; it's caused by some kind of scripting issue when a graphic (usually an embedded video) is scrolled onto the screen. If I enable NoScript the problem never manifests; but many sites then don't work correctly so I always end up disabling it.
My guess is that FF has some issue processing certain (types of?) scripts. It doesn't happen on all sites, but occurs frequently on others (e.g., huffingtonpost.com).
I really, really hope the dev team can find a solution for this soon because I've just about decided to move to Safari because of it.

  • TS1398 Just got the mini, specifically to get jobs on a certain website. Jobs change all the time. When I go to website, it has not updated from the first time I logged in on the mini. It works on my laptop just fine. HELP!

My sons just bought me an ipad mini especially so that I could check a certain website on which I sign up for jobs throughout the day.  The website is updated constantly throughout the day with new jobs and the status of the jobs I already have accepted and worked on. (It shows the percentage of the job that has been done.)  It worked fine only the first time I logged on with the mini.  Since then (yesterday,) when I check the website, it lets me log in, but I only see the same exact information that was there the first time I went to the website using the mini.  It seems to be 'frozen' on that particular first look.  It doesn't update at all.
I know it is not updating because I have also been checking with my notebook computer and with the notebook, the website is up to date.
    Maybe its Safari?
I had the same problem when I used a friend's iPad.
I wonder if there is a setting or something that I could change to allow the website to update to the time I check it.
If not, then the ipad mini is a terrible disappointment and I would like to return it.
If you can help me, I would be extremely grateful.
    Thanks in advance...
