  • All Browsers Crash Except Safari

    Hello,
Anyone have problems running other web browsers other than Safari on the MacBook Pro? I can't get any of them to work without locking up.
Once a website is clicked, a partial AFP Connection Status dialog box appears that doesn't display the name of the server it's trying to connect to. The options at that point are to click cancel and force quit the browser or wait on the next dialog box to appear (and the next and the next) until finally a dialog box appears that says the server is not valid or cannot be found and at that point the browser loads and appears to work, until you try to visit another site. Then it all starts over again.
This is frustrating the heck out of me. I've tried every other browser available and they all do the same thing...except for Safari, which works fine.
I'm stumped and haven't found anything on the web about this issue.
One possible point is that I did migrate everything (except applications) from an Aluminum Powerbook. Don't know if the problem is due to the migration or not.
Also, this happens on my login and the root login.
    Any help is appreciated.

    MacBook Pro 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   2GB RAM, 7200 RPM/100GB HD

I tried deleting those file (completely -- trash, then empty trash) and still no luck. It seems a lot more subtle than an application configuration. Especially considering that the same exact problem happens on 2 different browsers.
I did google search for the "AFP Connection Status" (the title of the dialog box that hangs the apps), and it's seems to happen with other apps as well. People are reporting it happening with MS Office, Apple's Logic pro application, and even Appleworks. All of the posts are pretty old and none mention the MacBook Pro specifically.
One poster was able to fix his problem (with Logic) by running a utility called Cocktail that cleans up all the cache files in the entire system. That solution didn't work for me.
This is very frustrating. I'm a web developer and it's essential that I test my web pages on mozilla-based browsers. Switching to Opera or another browser isn't an acceptable solution for me.
    Apple Support, please help!

  • The images is not show in all browsers.

    hello,,
I bought a new MacBook Pro and it is not displaying certain images in all browsers.. including safari, google chrome, mozilla firefox..
note that when I trying to open the same page using windows OS, it opened fine!

MacBook Pro and it is not displaying certain images in all browsers.. including safari, google chrome, mozilla firefox..
Are you using Apple's Airport Express or Extreme ..  what kind of router ??  You must be using one to setup a wi fi network. And that can affect all your browsers.

  • All browsers (except Safari) crash on launch

The weirdest thing keeps happening while I'm running 10.4 on my trusty old G4 733 Tower
Firefox, IE 5.3, Omniweb -- each crashes the minute they launch. I've run Disk Permissions, updated Java, and am absolutely confused.
Even though the other browsers crash repeatedly, Safari 3-something keeps chugging along with no problem. What would cause this issue and can I fix it somehow?
    Thanks.

If you have not done so already, except for the keyboard & mouse, disconnect all devices from your computer when troubleshooting.
Update to OS 10.4.11 either from Software Update and/or from Apple's Download site. Also, from SU, download all the other software listed that pertains to the various OS updates.
Repair permissions & restart your computer.
Make sure Firefox, IE, & Omniweb are updated to their latest versions. At the moment FF seems to be updating every week or so. Afterwards again repair permissions & restart your computer prior to using the browsers.
How much HD space do you have left? How much RAM is installed?

  • Website works in all browsers except for Internet Explorer

I purchased a template online and added our content.  After uploading to our server I tested with FIrefox, Safari, Chrome and IE.  It works exactly as expected in all browsers except for IE.  I'm sure it is a grid issue, but I am a novice web designer and don't know how to fix it.  In IE there is content from the "CONTACTS" section buried at the bottom of all other sections and half of the content of the "CAPABILITES" section is totally missing.
    Modified website here
    http://03694b2.netsolhost.com/#!/page_home
    Original template here
    http://03694b2.netsolhost.com/backup/site/index.html#!/page_home
Other than the grid problems, the drop down menu under ABOUT doesn't link to anything in IE.
Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

IE has become a serious problem generator while developing websites
The codes have to be well written and scripts have to mantain an order
    Are you working on html5?
If so my suggestion is to contact the guys that you bought the template from and ask them to fix the problem
This is one of the big issues when you purschase templates online
My suggestion is that you take some time to learn to do them by yourself, its challenging but more fun and it gives a professional touch to your work
There are many sites to get inspiration from

  • Adobe Bridge Web Gallery looks great in all browsers except Firefox 13

I'm not sure if this is a coding issue within Dreamweaver or if it has to to with the bridge gallery. The gallery looks perfect in all of the browsers except for Firefox 13 and Firefox 11 OSX.  Firefox pushes it all the way to the left.   Any help would be much appreciated!   Thanks
    http://carrizoworkforcehousing.com/gallery.htm

Looks OK to me in Firefox 13.  Can't see anything in IE - probably because I don't have Flash  for that browser.  Which brings up another point.  Many browsers/devices don't support Flash.  If your target audience uses iPhone, iPad or iTouch, they won't see anything.
If you do a Google search for jQuery photo galleries, you'll find a bunch that DO work in all browsers.

  • I have a php module which runs fine in Firefox and all other browsers but not Safari. It always run twice - I see a small ? in upper right corner which is causing it to run twice but NO idea why? Help - thank you

I have a php module which runs fine in Firefox and all other browsers but not Safari. It always run twice - I see a small ? in upper right corner which is causing it to run twice but NO idea why? I read it MAY have something to do with am image it cannot load but I see them all loaded.  Help - thank you

Could you share a link to the page?
Seeing it in context and in our browsers is much easier to debug.
If not, make sure to run the validator here The W3C Markup Validation Service and clear out any problems. HTML errors, especially structural ones, will cause all kinds of display problems in various browsers/versions/platforms.

  • Wordpress sites are not displaying correctly on my mac after mountain lion upgrade (on all browsers - chrome, safari, firefox)

I am having trouble viewing anything that is on wordpress, including the wordpress site. This means I cannot view my own wordpress blog too properly - no images are viewable, only plain text and hyperlinked text. This happened immediately after I upgraded to Mountain Lion. My Mac is mid-2010. Everything else works fine. Thanks.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • This is dumb: Videos won't play unless I disable Realplayer in ALL browsers. This means I simply won't use Firefox anymore except to test web pages. Wow, IE is

I tried disabling the Download video feature in RealPlayer Plus just for just Firefox. videos still will not play. The only way they will play is if I disable the feature for ALL browsers. I have found this to be true on multiple computers and other people have experienced this as well. I can deal with it if Firefox has trouble with RealPlayer, a product I paid for, but why do they care what I use in other browsers? This is unacceptable. Especially since there are all kinds of cheap extensions that do the same thing as RealPlayer but not as well. See ya -- for testing purposes only from now on. My web sites will all note works best with anything BUT Firefox.

    Hi nomadsjangle,
<u>'''Short answer,'''</u> downgrade to Flash 10.3, Firefox should then work ok, and hopefully RealPlayer will be fully functional.<br/>For instructions see [[flash 11.3 crashes]]
Sorry you are having problems. I am not sure why you decided to blame Firerfox for this problem.
If you pay for and install RealPlayer why do you blame Firefox when you need to uninstall it to play video ? Why not blame RealPlayer, FlashPlayer, or even another browser!
This is a known issue and developers from Firefox, Flash and Realplayer have been involved with this for a few weeks. There have been a few changes in that time but no full solution that suits everyone is available, or likely in the immediate future AFAIK.
I suspect your problem is due to the fact that FlashPlayer 11.3 introduced a security feature known as ''protected mode''. (Flash 11.3 may also have other issues with Firefox) RealPlayer (certainly the versions current when Flash11.3 was released) has problems with this. Real player is or was causing problems with use of Flash to view videos on Firefox with Flash 11.3.
Note FlashPlayer will be installed on the Operating System as a plugin, and may be used by more than one browser (although it needs different software for IE).
Downgrade Flash to 10.3 then if you still have problems post back, confirm the Flash Player version you have now,and the RealPlayer version.
    Note
    * if you use the Adobe uninstaller you may need to reinstall FlashPlayer on IE
    * take care not to follow advice from plugincheck FlashPlayer etc to upgrade to the latest version, until this issue is resolved.
    * this is a temporary solution, you should upgrade again once this is resolved.

  • Keyboard Lag in Safari

Ever since upgrading to OS X 10.8 and Safari 6, I have had issues with (sometimes severe) keyboard lag in Safari; I have not had this issue in other applications. I have used other browsers (Chrome & Firefox) and not had this issue. It happens in any input field, including the address bar. Worse, it often does not record keystrokes when lagging, so chunks of text are randomly lost. (I am not always looking at the input field when typing; I reference my second monitor, etc.)

Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. Step 2 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. • Slow webpage loading on all browsers

    Hi,
I have the problem that webpages tend to load extremely slow on all browsers under the latest Mountain Lion on a Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2012. I say tend, because sometimes pages load instantly, but very often it takes minutes to open or a page loads only partially. So there is some random element of surprise mixed in. The problem exists on all browsers I have on my system. It does not on my Windows laptop. I have tried anything I could find on the web that is even remotely related to this issue. I will just list, what I have tried so far:
    1) I have deleted my wireless connection under network preferences and setup a new one.
    2) I have tested other DNS servers, Google's amongst then (8.8.8.8).
    3) I have deactivated DNS prefetching on Safari.
    4) I have tested Chrome and Internet Explorer (via VMware Fusion).
    5) I have done several speed tests with two ISPs.
    6) I have tested the disk permission verification and repair tip.
    7) I have tested a different wireless router as well as different wireless standards (g vs n).
    8) I ran a traceroute which turned out fine.
    9) I have tested several FTP severs. The problem seems to be isolated to HTTP browsing.
Can't think of anything else I have tested, but that should cover most of it. I do not want to setup a new system and postpone the issue. I want to find the cause of this.
Maybe anyone can help we resolve this issue.

  • ANOTHER case of all browsers loading SLOWLY or NOT AT ALL.

Okay---this is REALLY irritating...especially for the vaunted Apple---whose hardware and software are supposed to be a "seamless" whole.
I have a 17" MacBook Pro, early 2011 model, running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. When I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion, I wiped the hard drive and did a 100% clean install, then installed all updates from Apple and have kept the system completely update since.
This morning---for the first time ever---I experienced what I quickly discovered is an INFAMOUS issue: ALL web browsers taking 5 minutes to load a page...or never loading it at all. (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, you name it.)
I did a flurry of research and can state the following:
    - The problem happened when connected to wifi at my local coffeehouse (the same wifi at the same coffeehouse worked perfectly 2 days ago and has worked perfectly for the past year).
    - No, the problem is NOT my local coffeehouse's wifi or ISP: my iPhone 5 was screaming fast when connected to the SAME wifi at the same time.
    - A reboot did NOT solve the issue.
    - I opened Network Utility and did a lookup on www.apple.com, and results were fine. Pings were also in the 90ms range. No problems there.
    - At the coffeehouse, I tried using my iPhone 5 (which as I just observed, loaded web pages screaming fast over the coffeehouse wifi) as a personal hotspot for my MBP. No dice---ALL browsers continued to load at a glacial pace.
    - The problem does NOT occur over wifi at home (I have Comcast cable broadband, which works very well.)
    - I tried adding OpenDNS's IPs to the wifi connection on my MBP. No dice. Didn't help at all.
    - I tried GoogleDNS. No dice. Didn't help at all.
    - I tried disabling DNS prefetching. No dice. Didn't help at all.
In short, this is ridiculous. This kind of thing should NOT be happening on a MacBook Pro! (Especially one that is fully, completely, totally updated to the minute.)
There are, of course, other tests I could do...but I'm not inclined to do them. Why? Because running said tests would mean I'm RIGHT BACK TO WHAT I WANTED TO ESCAPE WHEN I USED PC's: spending hours troubleshooting BS problems that shouldn't exist! As a former PC user, I've spent HUNDREDS of hours troubleshooting issues...which was what drove me to Apple in the first place. And my experience with MBP's (I've had two over the past several years) has been excellent...and now this.
One test I could do is to reboot in safe mode, see if I have the same issue. Except I'd have to go back to my local coffeehouse to troubleshoot, since I don't have any issue at home (over wifi).
This is obviously a VERY common issue. A quick Google search found HUNDREDS of returns from people having this identical problem. And the vast majority did not find any solution to the problem. Adding OpenDNS numbers solved it for some...but (as they all point out) why did the problem happen in the first place? Adding different DNS numbers is just a band-aid---not a solution.
Clearly this is an issue that Apple should take seriously---and not simply ignore or brush off with silly responses like "It's a DNS issue, not us."
Has anyone heard of a decisive, FINAL solution (not band-aid) to this issue?
    Scott

At the coffeehouse, I tried using my iPhone 5 (which as I just observed, loaded web pages screaming fast over the coffeehouse wifi) as a personal hotspot for my MBP. No dice---ALL browsers continued to load at a glacial pace.
In that configuration, you weren't using the Wi-Fi hotspot at all. You were using the cellular network. Do you get the same results doing the same thing at home, or anywhere the cellular signal strength is the same as in that location? If not, then RF interference was probably causing the problem. The Mac has a different antenna design than the iPhone and may be more susceptible.

  • Built a website to work on all Browsers (fire/Saf/IE), but now IE is moving the content and Nav?

I have just built a website, ensuring that it works on all browsers, firefox, safari, and IE (I believe the newest IE) When I built my first page it worked on all browsers except IE, (the content and Navigation would drastically move to the left) so I rebuilt it and checked everything on IE and it was fine, when it happened on other pages I again would rebuild it and it would be fine. I had it posted under my personal domain the entire time so I could see what it truly would look like. When it was done everything was basically fine. BUT, when I deleted it from my domain and moved it to the actual domain several of the pages would once again show up with this problem, the Navigation  and and content moving to the left only on IE of course?
Can someone suggest if there is something in my code that shouldn't be there that is causing this? or something that I need to add to help the site In IE?
    the domain is www.harmonyhealthalberta.ca
In need of help with this one??
    Thanks!

You have painted yourself into a box of determinate height by using a single background image.  When text size is increased in browser (zoom, text only), the page becomes a bit of a mess.
A better approach would be to slice your design comp into sections or image slices and apply those to the various areas in your page.  #header, #navigation, #mainContent, #footer, etc...
The other advice I offer is to use CSS instead of tables for layout.  CSS is much more flexible and it allows you to make global site changes by editing one external stylesheet file instead of re-coding the entire site. See CSS Zen Garden for some awesome examples of this -- http://www.csszengarden.com/

  • All browsers freeze in Mavericks

Ever since i've moved from Mountain Lion to Mavericks i'm having major problems with all browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Chromium). They all freeze for 4-5 seconds, and this happens every 1-2 minutes. This happens on every pages i visit, even on 'light' websites like google.com.
I've tried updating all browsers, updating the plugins, disabling all plugins, closing all other running programs but the problem is still there.
I installed a fresh copy of Mountain Lion just to see if i had the same problem, but all browsers worked fine. This happens only on Mavericks.
Can someone please help me with this? I dont want to go back to Mountain Lion again

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
