All Chapters (Scene Selections) Play From Beginning

I created a movie in iMovie HD (version 6.0.4). I created the chapters and titles as well. Imported the movie into iDVD (version 7.0.4). The scene selections correctly show the chapters and titles. But when I select a scene, each scene STARTS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE. What happened and how do I fix this?

This is a known bug in iDVD 8/9...(the version you have is iDVD8).
This situation happens when you make any edit to an iMovie that you have already put into an iDVD project. When you reopen iDVD, you receive the message that iDVD recognizes that 'assets have changed' and asks if you want iDVD to update. You, of course, say agree to the update because the only other choice is 'cancel.' It then appears that iDVD is making the changes, but a bug prevents it from doing this properly.
The end result is that all chapter markers default to the same point....usually near the new edits, but not always.
There is no 'fix' for this. You must create a new iDVD project and drag the edited iMovie into it.
The new lesson is that you should not make any edits...even a small change such as a spelling correction in a title...after putting your iMovie into your iDVD project.

Why does my playhead return to the initial position when pausing/stopping playback after playing from beginning?

How do I prevent the playhead from returning to it's original position after pausing or stopping with the spacebar or k button? With either the skimmer on or off, whenever I pause or stop the **** playhead will always return to the position it was last at. I don't understand why neither of the shortcuts would just stop the playhead at the point that is being played at. This may seem like an extremely edgy way to go about editing, but I might actually wish to pause the playhead at any given moment and position my playhead nearby said moment before creating an edit point (without having to add a marker and return to it with the blade tool, or take note of the specific duration and use the duration control to go to that specific point or any other unnecessary steps when doing a rough cut). I simply would like the playhead to pause/stop at the moment I press either keyboard shortcut. After the many attempts at trying to make FCP X work for me and the many "workarounds" by FCPX enthusiasts, it's disheartening to know that most other editors in my circle who make a living doing paid commercial work are wondering why I've decided to take a break from using CS6 (and it's integration with the industry-standard AE) to give FCP X a shot, all to make very simple tasks like the one aforementioned a mystery... any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Yes i've trashed my preferences, but I should be more specific as to what I am actually doing. Because I am working from my macbook pro and do not have a "home button" which was the original shortcut to "play from/go to beginning" and because I did not like the replacement shortcut in FCP X to play from beginning (without a home button it was something like Function + Shift something else on a laptop) I became used to Adobe Premiere CS6 and made the return key my "play from beginning" shortcut. It was available and did not have a use by itself (only to confirm changes/choices), did not effect it's use in conjunction with other shorctus so I choose enter as my "play from/go to beginning"...
So when I play from the beginning and attempt to pause or stop the playhead, regardless of how I choose to do it (spacebar or k) it does not stop at that specific instance and always returns to where it previously was. This seems very confusing and inconvenient, I would hope at least one of these shortcuts would actually stop the playhead where it was at that moment where I press stop or pause. It's extremely frustrating knowing that I cannot pause the playhead where it's playing if I choose my "play from beginning" shortcut.
Also since you seem to be a guru and an expert, i'd like to know if you cut with FCPX on a laptop and what shortcut you use whenever you'd like the playhead to go to the beginning of the timeline, end, etc since there are no "home" or "end" buttons on a laptop....

Since yesterday my Apple TV will not load the movies or tv at all. I select it from the home screen, it goes black, tries to load then goes back to the home screen. YouTube and Netflix works though. I've reset the Apple TV and the modem. No change. help?

No "Play All or Scene Selection" available. Sound also missing.

Last week I burned several DVD's successfully. I was prompted that there was an update to 7.0.4 available, so I updated. Ever since then, I have been unsuccessful at adding a "Scene Selection" or hearing the Revolution music that usually plays while you make your selection. Nothing else had changed.
I went back to look at previous update you could download that fixed the "scene" issue, but when I try to download it, it says "unnecessary". When I try to download any of the previous IDVD updates, it simply won't. It says IDVD is not in the Applications file. When I look in the Applications file, I see it is indeed there.
Is there any way to UNINSTALL a previous download, and reload? It was working fine before. Now I can't get it to do anything right. This has been driving me nuts for days now.

I have same problem. In test mode, clicking on each chapter starts a relevant time in the main movie. But on a burned project only first chapter works, other just loop but when clicked on, nothing happens. Any help around?

Getting videos to play from beginning, everytime?

I have a bunch of music videos on my Ipod classic, 160G and one of the most annoying things about it is that it plays videos from where i left off. I want the music video to play from the beginning every single time i get to it. I put my ipod in a dock so i am away from it and it is really annoying when i get to listen to the last third of a song. Is that possible to get the classic to do this? If not, then what is apple thinking? When can i expect to have this feature, if ever?

In iTunes, select the individual video and click on *File/Get Info/Options* and uncheck the box marked *Remember playback position* .
If you select several videos at once and click on *File/Get Info* , there will be a drop-down menu at the bottom of the *Multiple Item Information* dialogue that is called *Remember Position* . Change the setting to No (and a tick will appear in the box beside it).
Both these methods will give you what you want. You will probably find that whoever created the video chose to remember playback position, not Apple. Don't forget, if you are watching a long video or listening to an audio Podcast, the remember playback position can be very useful.

End of clip play from beginning.

When playing the last clip to the end... it jumps to the very beginning and starts playing from the very beginning.

I've had similar in other Adobe programs recently. In PS the All Caps button kept getting turned ON in the Character Palette. I have never used it, and took a moment to sort out what was happening. Within the week, three others had the same problem in PS. At least I had the quick answer. All swore, like me, that they had never touched that button. Phases of the Moon?

I can't scroll through my music - only plays from beginning of tunes

Hi,
I have a 2gb ipod nano. When the blue bar is on the "Music" option and I press the center (round) button the screen shows the white apple with the black background for a few seconds and then shows the menu screen again. I am able to press the center button on the rest of my menu items and scroll through them just fine - but the only way I can listen to my music is by pressing play and then it just plays from the beginning of my list of tunes (like on an ipod shuffle). If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it.

Mp3 does not plays from beginning for iPhone 4

I have iPhone 4.3 (8F190) 04.10.01
All the mp3 i sync with the iPhone it never plays form begining, the begining will play somewhere in middle also the artwork never show correctly when the mp3 is playing. The same happens with the mp3 files which I sync as Audiobooks.
Please help how to sort this.

Maker sure 'Optimized for network use' (fast-start).
If you have Quicktime 7 Pro... you can fix it in Quicktime 7 Pro by doing a 'save as' in the MENU... FILE SAVE AS option. You can also do this in MPEG-Streamclip (free app.)
Open video in MPEG-Streamclip...
Menu...File...Save As...
Doing this you won't have to re-encode the video again and the fast-start will be added back to the video.

Disable playing from beginning when end is reach?

When I work on a section of the timeline I hit space bar to play, then hit space bar again to stop.
But when the section is at the end of the timeline, it's hard to change this habit. I hit space to play, then it stop automatically at the end but nevertheless I also hit space bar, at which point it automatically starts playing from the start of the time line.
This is very annoying. Is there a way to turn off this feature, so that when I hit space bar at the end, nothing happens, or beeps.

Yeah, there's no way to turn it off, but you could give yourself a bit of breathing room by throwing a small video or graphic clip a few seconds past the end of your timeline. Either that, or tame your muscle memory

Why does photostream play from beginning to end on iphone and ipad, but from end to beginning on appletv?

I created a photo stream of my daughter from birth to 12 months which plays in the correct order on my ipad and iphone and anyone elses devices. When i play it on Apple TV they always play in reverse. I know it can also show the pictures randomly, but the point of doing it was to let relatives in other parts of the world see her as she grows! I cannot find any settings to alter this. I would be grateful for any advice on how to change this. Thanks

I agree this is a really dumb change and I really hope Apple changes it back to the way it was.
In iOS 6 and earlier when you were in the Music player and selected ARTIST it would show a list sorted by artist. When you selected the artist you wanted, it would show a list of their albums. Then you could select the album and see the list of songs. In iOS 7 after you select Artist, it displays the album and every track, so you have to scroll down through not only the album but every track on that album. That was a really stupid change on Apple's part. Makes no sense.

In iOS 7.0 you have to scroll down through all the songs to see the other albums. That can be a really pain if you have a large music collection.
Please Apple change it back to the way it was!! This didn't need to change!

My music wont sync/work when I plug into my car(2013 model) bluetooth doesnt read all music files just plays from phone control

there isnt a setting that will allow that to happen.
the phone cannot play audio/video through the usb. it is for data transfer and charging only.
your cars radio integrates and controls your iStuff because it has the software integrated to allow for it.
if you have bluetooth, just connect your device to your car through bluetooth and play it that way.
my pioneer still allows me to pause, play, fwd, etc on my nokia that way. i just cannot go through the menu system.

Chapters and Scene Selections in iDVD?

How do you create chapters/Scene Selections in iDVD '08? I created a movie in iMovie and now want to create chapters within the movie - so if you put the DVD into a DVD player, you can click on "Susie's 1st birthday party" or "Susie's first trip to the zoo" or "Susie's first Snow Day" which would all be part of the movie, "Susie Turns One". Help.

How do you ensure that in the automatically generated scene menus the drop zones are in the right order?
I have exported the chaptered movie from GarageBand directly to iDVD. I have also tried exporting the movie to hard disk first and then importing into iDVD. the scene menus are automatically created as expected and they also contain the correct chapter titles. The drop zones do appear in the correct order. However, when you click on one of the drop zones to highlight it and then use the arrow keys to switch to the next drop zone the ordering appears completely random. Unfortunately, this is also the same ordering that one sees on a DVD player.
Is there a way to change the order?

Editing Scene Selection Buttons

I am trying to create a Disc Menu in Premiere Elements 9 but I can't seem to edit the buttons for the scene selections.
The basic problem is that the titles for my scenes are a little long so it looks sloppy underneath the video image. Really, if it would allow me to center the text underneath the video image that appears, that would solve my problem. If that's not possible, just removing the video image could work as well. Is there any way to edit these buttons other than just font, size, and color?
Also, whenever I try to change the font for the "Play All" and "Scene Selection" button on the main page, the text disappears. Am I doing something wrong?

Unfortunately, you can not change the alignment of text on a disc menu without opening up the template itself and manually changing it.You can only change the font, style and color for each block of text.
I don't know why you can't edit the Play All and Scene Selection buttons. You should be able to . At least on most disc menu templates. You may have applied a disc menu template that's the exception -- quite possibly because the text block is locked or is a graphic rather than true text.

Way To Make AUDIO On Scene Selection Menus SEAMLESS?

I've searched and have not found anything that helped.
I have 4 'pages' in my scene selection menu. I would like for the same audio track to play seamlessly throughout (when shifting from page to page to locate a particular scene).
In its current state, the audio starts over each time that you move to a new... erm...'page' (what's the correct term here?), and I find the lack of continuity or, at the very least, transition to be a bit jolting and quite irritating.
Anyone know if there is a way to carry the same audio track throughout?

You cannot do this by just selecting the audio in the first scene selection (submenu) because each submenu plays alone, and the length of the audio played depends on how long the menu is displayed. The length of time the scene selections play, and thus the audio, is determined by the viewer--you cannot control this. If your audio clip is short, only 15 seconds or so, it will repeat continuously until you (or someone) clicks on the arrows to go to another submenu or clicks on the scene to play it.
You could choose just a portion of the audio you wish to play, say the first 30 seconds, and then choose the second 30 seconds to play on the second menu and so forth. You would have to use an app like Wiretap to record the poarticular portions you want for each submenu. Then, if one viewed the submenus for exactly 30 seconds, the music would be close to playing 'seamlessly.' But, the viewer has the option of keeping the submenu displayed for an indefinite length of time, so each 30 second snipet would just repeat itself.

Scene Selection Shifted

Yesterday, I spent many an hour creating two projects (well, all day to be precise).
Lastnight, I set the machine exporting one of the two projects (via Quicktime for 1080p quality). However, the power capable must have fallen out and the machine closed down during the process.
Upon starting the machine up, I looked at the two projects and all my scene selections seem to have 'shifted'. The projects are showing scenes selected and and from the correct movie files. They are just not the portions of the movie I selected?
I inherited the Mac, so am a noob. I understand one option would have been to recover the projects using Time Machine. However, this doesn't look to have been enabled (or I am not using it correctly).
I've checked the forums and haven't come across this problem. Is there any way to recover my hard work?

Same happened to me.
I edited and hopefully I made the render correctly, so I'm sure it was fine at some point. I had no crashes, but this time I'm opening the project days after the previous render, and the time for many clips are shift.
They are ALL shift. Some are missing because I fred up some disk space by burning a DVD with photos and videos from iPhoto. I've trimmed the original videos at specific places to match motion blur, or synching them with music, and all of them (the ones I can tell are shift due to that specific need) are shift, not just the music.
I'll recover the missing videos from the DVD to see if that fixes it (If I find a way to do it or verify it from iMovie)
I assumed it has something to do with missing images used before the affected clips returning to the default still duration… but there are no still images before this ones, and I don't know whether the original poster got any missing photo.
