Is there any chance you had BlackBerry Protect installed on the device and backups were made?
How could you have accidentally wiped the device? Doing this accidentally is not really possible, as it asks twice to confirm the wipe and you would have had to confirm by typing 'blackberry' before the wipe commences.

  • All data wiped... how to retrieve?

I tried to sync my Z10 to the computer.  I had an old program-blackberry manager or some such which wouldn't even recognize my new Z10.  So, I had the brilliant idea of deleting that old program and downloading new BB Link.  As I needed to charge my phone, my phone was connected to the computer.  I don't know what I did, but when the new softward downloaded, and all that, it seems that my phone was totally reformatted.  I lost ALL the pictures I took, ALL the contacts I ever had, ALL the texts I ever sent/received, ALL the files and apps I downloaded.  And for some reason, this process also wiped out my contact list on my yahoo mail account.  There were very important contacts and pictures I had on the phone.  Please help me retrieve these lost data!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From your description, it's rather impossible to determine how or why this happened. So, all we are left with is recovery...which, of course, depends on some source of data that was backed up prior to this happening. If you used any type of backup methods before, then use those again now as the source of restore. If you have no backups, then you have migrated from the latter to the former in this old saying:
There are two kinds of computing device users -- those who have lost data, and those who will
Backups are, quite simply, not a reactionary nor an optional process.

  • All data is wiped from my iphone after internet was serverely hacked, hence transfered to my iphone and everyone elses iphones in the house

Our internet was hacked really bad, whatever virus/ trojan it was, my two housemates & I didnt realise straight away, by then we had synced our iphones to itunes on our computers, it wasnt long before we noticed our iphones acting strange, they would freeze up, bombing out, our computers were worse, it got through the anti-viruses, activated our web cams & mics. Then one of my housemates got a settings message window pop up on his iphone screen saying "I will put it all back if you give me what I want", we freaked, we had no idea what it meant. The other iphones were telling us to sync to itunes.. We sync to itunes again, then about half an hr apart of each other- each of our phones turned themselves off, we turn them on again.... and discovered all data, apps, messages, photo's, everything completely wiped clean- gone. Most of the programs on our computers had been changed, all data on itunes was gone, we just couldnt believe what had happened.
I never did a back up- I trusted the iphones, I didnt think that i needed to. I had tried again to sync to Itunes after I uninstalled Itunes & reinstalled it again on my main computer but nothing. I thought that I better not try syncing it to my laptop then.
I have uninstalled most programs in my laptop & tried to clear out any dodgey data i could find. I have left what iphone files that I could find in there, but I cant tell which iphone/ apple data is what nor can I read any of it.
I have seen on other sites there are programs or tools to try and retrieve data, but I dont trust the internet, I'm not risking being hacked again by downloading from sites I dont know.
Can someone please PLEASE  advise me some kind of instructions as to how to retrieve my iphone data out of my laptop??
**I'm wondering if this Apple site will publish this, because I have never found anything on the net where people have had a hack as bad as ours, so it makes me wonder if there are people out there who do talk about bad hacks- if they're story ever gets published or is our hack "1 in a million!".

Syncing your phone will restore the iTunes content to your phone. I suspect the content has not actually been deleted from your phone, just not visible due to a glitch(it's happened before). Re-syncing will fix things.

  • Does anyone else have issues with firefox 5 totally crashing a windows7 laptop? This has happened now THREE times, each time wiping all data from the user that it was installed on.

I recently upgraded to FF5 on a windows7 laptop. I havent had any previous issues with system crashes. But within HOURS of installing, my whole OS crashed, and after about an hour of "cannot start windows" the laptop "repaired" itself, wiping all data and a user. I reinstalled, and it crashed again. I want to go back to version 3.16, as I had no issues with that version.

god, i love it when i find answers to my own questions!  here is a work-around, not really a fix because you have to run this daemon that constantly performs read operations to prevent the drive from going into low power mode - which seems to be the source of this problem.  caution: this will drain your battery if you leave computer awake while not plugged in, but this solution darn well beats the issues i was having before with spinning beachball every couple minutes.. i was going crazy!  it only eats about 2-3% of cpu usage and i have not had the problem since i installed this daemon which sits in Library\LaunchDaemons (if you want to remove it later.)  also the developer leaves his email in the install file and he is very helpful.
here is a link to the crucial thread where i found this solution:

  • HT201065 Is it possible to completely remove ALL data when wiping??

Is ALL data completely wiped and irretrievable from my old mac once this process is done? I have heard of others illegally retrieving data from old discarded hard drives previous owners had 'wiped' clear.

When you erase a drive, you can do it fast/non-secure or slow/secure. Choose the "secure" method and specify 1, 3 or 7-pass option. For large disk drives this can take a VERY VERY LONG TIME. But if you want to be safe, what's a day or two.
The multiple-pass secure options writes different bit-patterns to the drive, before it finally erases it with all zeros, which leaves nothing for anyone to recover later on.
If you choose the unsecure method (the default) it only initializes the information that says how many files are on the drive and where to start writing when new files are created. The actual part of the disk that had your old data is not even touched, so with the right kind of software that information is able to be recovered to varying degrees of success.
The 3-pass secure erase method is what the DOD (Department of Defense) recommends for erasure of drives.
See this for a lot more information about securely erasing disks:

  • New WIn7 installed, prior data wiped. Empty contact lists and calendars. All stillon iPhone. What will synching do? Copy iPhone data to outlook contacts/calendar? or copy enpty PC files to iPhone, essentially deleting last place data is saved?

New WIn7 installed, prior data wiped. Outlook (calendar and contacts) files empty.  Same lists however in the iPhone.  If I synch the iPhone and PC, what will happen? Will the iPhone data populate the  and, essentially, delete my last data resords? I know- prior to disc wipe, records entered either on PC or iPhone would cross copy to the iPhone or PC.  That was only 2 -4 records at a time.  We're talking >100 records at prresent.  Can I jut sync, and not worry amd find all contacts BOTH places?

  • I have changed computers and installed iTunes on my new computer. I want to sync my iphone now but the "sync" program indicates that it will remove all data on my phone and replace it with the newly installed itunes that does not have my information.

I have a new computer and have installed iTunes on it.
Now I want to sync my iphone but the new itunes on the new computer wants to remove everything on my niphone and replace it with what's on the newly installed itunes data but it does not have my data.
How can I sync the new itunes with my iphone and not have my phone data wiped out?
    Thanks,

There is no way to stop iTunes from doing exactly what it is designed to do.
The iPhone is designed to sync with one and only one computer.
If you have moved/copied your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then iTunes wiping your device is no problem.  You would simply sync and iTunes will put all the content back.

  • Lost ALL DATA after OS update on MAC.

Coming back from Walt Disney World with my daughter during the holidays.  Took some nice pictures with my BB Curve 8530.  Once back home, try to download all the picture on my macbook using the desktop manager.  Plugged my BB using the provided cable, then immediately was proposed to update my device software.  So the update go on.  Took a while and finally was asked to restore my data on the device, which of course I accepted.  Took about a quarter of a second, then done!  So unplugged the device from the computer and surprise!  Nothing, Nada, Zero...  All my contacts, media, email, everything was wiped very clean.  I'm kind of furious.
I've done some research over several forum it append to A LOT of people.  Some were lucky enough to find a backup file on there system, but nothing on mine searching with spotlight.
RIM as no right at all to erase all the data on my device.  I was never warned and I never accepted the risk associated with that update.
I'm asking for a solution to get back all my data.

    i'm having the same problem!
i finally got around to upgrading to IOS5 last night and also got an error whilst restoring the back up. I also assumed the date would be there.
now i've restored my phone all apps etc have returned to phone but lost all data from them, ive lost all my contacts and diary appointments etc.
    Nightmare!
how do i get it back???? any help would be appreciated

  • IPhone wants to reset all data

    Pleas help.
Hopefully someone can help me or I am really gonna be ticked off.
My computer died on the weekend, which I have now reloaded. Loaded iTunes again (9.02), recreated my music library, added videos, added apps, added playlists and authourized.
When I go to connect my iPhone, it naturally says it is synced with a different computer. It wants to delete all my apps which are loaded and their data. Some of the apps are used for business purposes and the information on them cannot be copied onto paper and re-entered into the app.
Every app and song on the iPhone is now in iTunes.
+Can I get the new iTunes to accept the old iPhone without wiping out any data on it???+
All data is backed up, I just need iTunes to accept the iPhone.
    Thanks for the help.

iphone 4 shut itself off and prompted me to connect to iTunes where is wants to reset my phone and lose all my data

  • Health kit app dead, data wiped, repeated crashing

My Health Kit app was working fine as of a few hours ago.  Just recently though, I opened it to find and empty dash board with all my data wiped out.  The sources, MFP, Instant Heart Rate, WiThings, all show they are connected, but no data is showing from any of them.  When I tap Create Medical ID, the app freezes or crashes.  When I try and add to the Dashboard nothing happens.  Anyone else having this issue?
    iPhone 6
    IOS 8.02

I don't know about rgrgeo but I am experiencing a similar problem.  I found rebooting the iPhone usually fixes it for a period of time.  Sometimes it requires multiple reboots before the data reappears.  But so far all of the data eventually comes back and none has been lost.  I have been generally impressed with Apple to date but this is really a poor job.  How could something so obviously buggy be released?

  • IOS 6 installed data wiped/ missing from itouch and iPhone, help

iOS 6 installed, data wiped/ missing from itouch and iPhone on calendars and contacts.  help

    Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore via iTunes make sure that all the apps are in the iTunes library since they are not in the backup.

  • Wrong passcode RESET my phone and lost all data!!!

This morning my wife went to use my phone, she wanted to show my daughter some photos I took yesterday.  She wasnt aware that I changed my passcode recently (she knew my old one).  After attempting to enter my old passcode 3 times incorrectly, the phone shut down to the black + apple logo boot screen and came back into the factory reset state (the same state as when you buy the phone, with the welcome/setup flow).
I was baffled at how this could have happened, so I called Apple support.  The technitian I spoke with had no idea how that could hav happened and asked me to check for iCloud or iTunes backups.  Unfortunately I had not backed my phone up in the past 2 weeks of using my new 4S, and I didnt setup iCloud backup.  So there was no solution available from Apple, I had to start all over and lost all my data.
After looking into this more, I cannot figure out how this could have happened.  I did not set the Passcode setting to erase all data after 10 failed passcode attempts (plus my wife only tried 3 times).
I assume this is a big bug in the new OS (5) or some clever scam to get people to start using iCloud for backups.  Word to the wise, backup or use iCloud, and check your passcode settings for that erase feature.  If anyone has any clue how this could have happened I would love to hear.

I do, but it is from a few weeks ago when I backed up my old 3GS to restore my brand new 4S.  So I did restore to that backup but lost the past 3 weeks of photos, apps changes and more.  I just had a baby too, so I really screwed the pooch by not backing up or using iCloud.  I just cant imagine the data isnt still on the phone somehow, but maybe it did get wiped.
In any case, seems like a scary bug out there that others may hit, wanted to post this to help others.

  • Itunes update loses all data related to my 2nd device, Is there anyway to get Itunes to work properly?

Another Apple Itunes Update.  Dutifully I applied it and found that Itunes afterwards had lost all information related to my Ipod device (it retained the information to my Iphone which uses a different music selection).  Now Itunes wants to erase all data on my 2nd device so that I can use Itunes on it.  I am getting quite tired of dealing with these Itune update problems,  problems which I experience inspite of keeping my device and software backed up on each of my computers.
Is there any way to fix Itunes without wiping all data from my 2nd Itunes device?
