All day events converting to hourly events

If I enter an event on my computer  it converts to hourly events on my iPad and iPhone.  Very frustrating.  Does anyone have a solution.

If I understand your issue properly...
I've had success recreating this issue.  This doesn't differ from iOS 5 to iOS 4.  You may want to check here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324
It's common in exchange 2007 but there has been a bug identified in exchange 2010 regarding all day events also.
You can actually change the setting on the device to "all day event" and have it stick.  What is really odd is when you have a user with two iOS devices and set the all day flag on one you can watch it revert on the other device to a 24 hour appointment.

  • My calendar converts all-day events to hourly

My iPad and iPod connect via Exchange.  Events that are originally posted as all-day events are changing on their own to hourly events.   The calendar on my desktop is still showing as an all-day event.  Help - we tried almost everything.  I hope there is a solution.

Thanks for the input folks - I had already tried a few including Chronos Calendar but without the wide tile, that one was a bit limited for my use.
I have elected to go with VsysCalendar. This has the best live tile for my use (although I still don't get why none have timed and all day on the same tile!) but I have to revert to the native calendar to review my schedule in detail.
Like GreyCounciller says, I'll just have to wait & hope that Nokia gets its act together and releases its own. The MS one is about as useless as the iPhone product.
    Thanks again.
Didn't you have a look at 'Live Tile Agenda' ?

  • Converted Outlook to iCal - All day events messed up

I converted Outlook calendar via O2M and imported it into iCal on iMac.  The all-day events are blocking up time from 12:00am to 12:00am rather than appearing in the all-day box at the top of the day.  When I click on the event, the "Make All-Day Event" selection is grayed out and I cannot select it.  The events are blocking up and crowding my calendar and I can't see anything.  I don't want to delete and re-enter all events. Just bought the iMac a week ago. What's the fix?

Found this on another topic and it fixed my problem:
Re: AppleScript to make All-Day Events?
Feb 2, 2006 1:28 AM (in response to Roger Barre)
Hi Roger, This is fairly straighforward in Applescript. You could try something like the script below. Depending on the number of events in the calendar it's possible this could take time. The script should let you know when it's done. Just in case you don't like the result. Backup, just in case. In iCal go to File>Back up Database... and save your calendars. --Copy blue text into Script Editor (Applications > Applescript > Script Editor) , press Run and follow prompts. If you are happy with the results you could save it as an Application.
    tell application "iCal"
    -- Select calendar
set myCal to first calendar whose title is (item 1 of (choose from list (title of (every calendar) as list) with prompt "Choose calendar"))
    -- Loop through events
repeat with myEvt in events of myCal
-- Get start & end times of event
    set {startTime, endTime} to {start date of myEvt, end date of myEvt}
-- Check start and end hours & mins
    set hoursAndMins to {hours of startTime, minutes of startTime, hours of endTime, minutes of endTime}
-- See if start and end time are midnight, if so set to all day.
if hoursAndMins is equal to {0, 0, 0, 0} then set allday event of myEvt to true
    end repeat
display dialog "Done all day events"
    end tell Best wishes John

  • All Day Events Showing as 24 Hour Events (Nokia N95)

    Hi,
I'm syncing a Nokia N95 using the Nokia iSync plugin.
My all day events are shown on the phone as 24 hour long events. Is there a way to stop this?
    Many thanks
    David

    I agree with David.
I have "Japanese holidays" on iCal imported from /ical/librar as "all day events".
Also I have many "not-time-specific events", like the name of trade shows I may attend, as all day events on iCal.
I guess that is the way a lot of people use "all day events" on iCal.
So "all day events" on iCal should be synced as "memos" on the phone.
Otherwise, the weekly view looks ugly and any meetings entered on the same day conflict with the name of the holiday or trade show...
I just hope Apple or Nokia fixes this problem soon.

  • ICal + iPhone + Exchange 2003 + Outlook 2007 + "all day" Events 7 hours off

Whenever an ALL DAY event is created on either the iPhone or iCal when the event is synced thru Entourage and into the Exchange Server and into Outlook 2007 the appointments are off -7 hours which I believe works out to GMT with Daylight savings time kicked in. Times are correct in Entourage. Correcting the time (making it an ALL DAY event) in Outlook 2007 and the resulting re-syncing does not impact Entourage, iCal or the iPhone. Since iPhone is syncing via iCal as the first step, I believe the issue is with iCal no the iPhone.
Time Zone Support is OFF on iCal and the iPhone.
    iPhone updated to 1.0.1
    iTunes updated to 7.3.2.6
    iCals ver 2.0.5.1069
Vista Premium and Outlook 2007 Fully Patched
    Thanks

This had no impact on the problem. I have confirmed that this is an issue with iCal and not the iPhone. An all day appointment on for example August 15 created in iCal shows up correctly in Entourage syncing to an Exchange Server. However, when the appointment propogates to Outlook 2007, the All Day event now displays as from 7:00 pm August 14 to 7:00 pm on August 15.
Time Zone support has no impact regardless of setting on iCal.
Close inspection of the Event in Outlook shows ALL DAY is selected but the greyed out times are from 7 to 7 as described above.

  • How can I create a new event without it automatically being an all-day event?

When I create a new event in iCal, it automatically creates an all-day event.  (By create, i mean double-clicking in the month view.)  Is there any way to change it back to hourly when you create an event, like in Snow Leopard?  Although this is easy to get around, it's just annoying as I rarely create all day events.

I was really frustrated by this change in Lion as I prefer to use the month view and I hate the way it defaults to an all day event.  So I was very pleased to find this solution in the Mac OS X Hints.  Simply type "Dinner at 6 pm" and it enters "Dinner" at 6 pm for one hour.  If you want anything other than an hour, put "6 - 8 pm" (or whatever period you want.  Brilliant.  Just wish Apple figured out a way to tell me that without having to search the communities here for an answer.
    Thanks Ferd II.

  • Why is ical automatically setting new events as "all day" events in Lion

After upgrading to Lion, everytime I add a new event in the Month panel it automatically selects the "all day" checkbox.  It didn't used to do this and it's kind of annoying....anybody else?

    Gustlock,
Default event creation in Month view results in an all day event.
Lion iCal Help (Add events to a calendar) says: "Add a new event in Month view by double-clicking within the day you want the event to appear. Enter a name and time duration for the event in the event’s title field, and then press Return."
So, in your case try entering "Meeting at 9am"...that will create a one hour event named Meeting.
Lion iCal data detectors are supposed to make entry easier??

  • ICal all-day event problem

iCal on my iPad worked fine for a while. Now, many of my all day events (but not all of them) are showing up a day early on my iPad on week view. Everything is fine on all other devices (iPhone, MacBook) and all is fine on iPad on day, month and list view. All timed events are in the right place. But all day events in week view are a disaster and turning off the iPad isn't helping. Any advice?

Did you travel out of your home time zone and first notice the problem then? I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Apple Care while I was in the Central zone (I live in Eastern) and nothing the supervisor suggested worked (deleting the account, resetting, turning ipad off, etc). They'd bumped me up to a supervisor because the regular guy had no idea. Supervisor said no one on the internal tech board had seen that particular problem. The final assumption was it was a software glitch on my ipad--the advice was a complete restore which was going to have to wait until I returned home because he said it would take too long over the Verizon mi-fi I was using while traveling. Anyway--I got home to Eastern time, immediately pulled out the ipad to do the restore and all the all-day events were in the right place and have remained in the right place since then. My best guess is that it's a time zone issue but it doesn't make much sense. All my timed events stayed right where they were supposed to be the whole time (time zone support turned off).

  • All Day Events Lengthened

I'm experiencing an issue with all day events. Using my Presidents' Day event as as example. In Entourage and iCal it shows as a single day event. When I sync it with my iPhone, the event ends up being two days long. I've checked time zones in all programs (Entourage, iCal, iTunes) and they are all aligned as they should be.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Does anyone have a solution or thoughts?
    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. It gets really confusing for me becuase I'm using the "All Day Event" to show which administrator has coverage for each day. Entourage and iCal display beautifully/correctly but when syncing to the iPhone I have two administrators listed each day when only one should be coverina a 24 hour period.
I can sync directly from my PC at work but then I lose all of my personal calendar items that I have on iCal at home.
Any suggestions? This is a 5 day per week, cycling (not recurring) date issue so it involves hundreds of instances per year. ...very frustrating.

  • All day events sync as two day events on iPhone (using MobileMe)

After starting to use MobileMe to sync calendars and contacts, I've started to have an issue with events that are marked "all day". As far as I can tell, regular timed events seem to sync correctly, but my "all day" events get put on the iPhone as two day events. I thought it might be a DST issue, but when I look at the details of the event it looks as though it's actually changing it to a two day event.
For example, someone's birthday in iCal desktop app will have the details:
    all day
    from: July 3
    to: July 3
But on my iPhone it gets synced as:
    all day
    from: July 3
    to: July 4
What makes this even more weird, is that when I log onto me.com, and look at the iCal web app, my "all day" events are all one day early. For the examply above, the event will appear on July 2.
This has really got me puzzled...anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Kenton

Same issue with me almost exactly...but the all-day events on MobileMe and on my laptop iCal are actually on the correct day rather than the day earlier as you describe. Only the iPhone is out of whack compared to MobileMe and iCal.
I tried syncing with iTunes and when that didn't display my all-day events correctly, I sync'd over the air by turning on MobileMe Calendar push. Both ended up with many all-day events spanning 2 consecutive days. However, not all the all-day events were incorrect, but several were. I haven't been able to establish a pattern.
    I am using an iPhone 8G 3G, my G4 Powerbook 12" running 10.4.11, and a MobileMe account.
I spent a hour or two on the Apple site speaking with tech support over live internet chat. I was told there were lots and lots of sync issues going on and the tech was unable to solve my issue. He mentioned casually that many of the sync problems were occurring on systems running 10.4.11.
It would be encouraging to learn if this bug that puts all-day events across two consecutive days only on the iPhone (but not on MobileMe or iCal application) is happening to others out there.
    Any others out there?

  • ICal repeating old all day events...?

    Hi, thanx for reading...
I had seen duplicate events, but this is so weird!
Some all day events such as birthdays are shown like 10 times the same day at the same hour, just like that...
When trying to delete copies to see if keeping one copy the problem solves, there seems to be more duplicate than graphicaly shown... so i cant delete all the duplicates...
    Snow leopard 10.6.5
    Any ideas???

Exact same problem here. December 13th of 2010 has an infinite number of all-day birthday events on it. No matter how many I delete, new ones keep appearing.

  • Problems with mobile me ical all day events sync between desktop and iphone

I just noticed all of my all day events show up one day earlier on my iphone than what they are on ical on my desktop (which is correct). This includes both subscribed events and one I have entered. Any ideas on a fix, it is rather annoying at this point.

Hi. Sorry I don't have the answer. Just another person with the same problem. Must be a bug that needs fixing. Thanks for pointing out that the List view works. Although, when I click on the individual diary entries from the list view the event details show up the incorrect date and time. My entries are all 19 hours out. So an entry that should be Monday at 1pm, shows up as Sunday at 6pm. Very annoying.
Anyone else who can help with this problem?

  • Duplicate all-day events on calendar

I noticed that on my iPod Touch calendar, all of my all-day events go on for two days. For example, a person's birthday is showing up as going from Dec. 1-Dec. 2. On my computer's iCal, all of my all-day events look normal. What could be causing this?

I've had this happen to some of my all day events also. Somehow the events end up going from 11pm to 11pm (instead of 12am to 12am) and thus they span two days.
I'm still not entirely sure what has caused this. I've also had some of these events (these are mostly recurring events, like birthdays) that have ended up on a different day entirely - June 6 instead of October 31, for instance. In those cases the Recurring Event props got changed from a specific date to 'third Wednesday' or some such.
I have had to edit manually in Outlook -- if they say 11pm to 11pm, change it to 12am instead. And check the recurring props to be sure they are correct.
You might also want to check your location settings. I have sort of wondered if this has to do with location as I had it set to Indianapolis (which only started observing DST last year - maybe that isn't factored into the software yet?) and wondered if that is what messed things up, since all day events did shift by 1 hour. I have location set to New York now but can't prove that fixed anything -- I found a few more events messed up today, but then just now remembered to check World Clock, and it was still set to Indy. <shrug>

  • All-day events across multiple days

Okay, this is a very specifc question about a very specific situaiton, but I am curious to know what is going on. When I have an all-day event scheduled for one day in iCal and I sync it with my phone (Motorola v551) it shows up as a nice little note at the top of my calendar on my phone. When I have an all-day event scheduled across multiple days in iCal it shows up as an actual event across all the hours of the day for as long as I have it scheduled on my phone.
I have discovered a work-around by taking that one-day, all-day event and having it repeat the number of days of the event, but it just doesn't look right in iCal.

The calendar on your phone likely doesn't support events that span mutiple days. The solution of a repeating event is the correct answer.

  • AppleScript to make All-Day Events?

I'm new at this, so forgive the question if it's obvious. I routinely import a calendar using Outlook2Cal from a Windows machine to iCal 2.0.3 on my PowerBook. It works fine, but All-Day events in Outlook show up in iCal as starting at 12:00 AM the first day and ending 12:00 AM the next day.
The company that makes Outlook2Mac says that's a bug that they hope will be fixed eventually.
In the meantime, is there a way AppleScript could find all the entries that, say, start at 12:00 AM and automatically check off the "All-Day Event" button?

    Hi Roger,
This is fairly straighforward in Applescript. You could try something like the script below. Depending on the number of events in the calendar it's possible this could take time. The script should let you know when it's done.
