All emails in Mail print with a light gray background.

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion all the emails I print from Mail shows with a light gray background.
How can I change that?
The printouts just look dirty.
Thank you!

Hi Eric,
Thanks for writing!
I'm on 10.8.5 which is the latest update.
I have an HP Laserjet which is about 8 years old. I tried printing out this page and it showed gray. Also went to webmail and the same thing happened. But it didn't happen in InDesign.
Do you have any idea what's causing this?
Thank you!
Wendy

Sounds like your display failed.  Bring it into Apple for evaluation.

  • All emails in Mail, Thunderbird and Postbox show only this example date in System Prefs 05.01.2013. Skype has the same error in short messages. Only Mail Pilot has the correct dates. I'm using Mavericks

Hello, all my emails in Mail, Thunderbird, Postbox show the same date 05.01.2013 which is the example in System Prefs.
    Skype also in short messages.
Only Mail Pilot resists and shows all dates in the correct manner.
I'm using Mavericks. But I have another account also with Mavericks without this rare behavior!

Okay, I realized a lot of my questions related to Gmail. I figured out a few, but if you are a Gmail expert and know why I'm getting errors trying to sync that one folder then please let me know.

  • How can I delete all email in mail app?

Now I have 10,000 mails in mail app that I want to delete.  I try to use this method "Edit, Mark all as read, Edit, select first message, hold down Move, deselect message, unpress Move" but no luck.  All mail will return to inbox after a second.
PS: now I use iphone 5s and ios7.0.6

There is no way to delete all emails in the inbox in one step.

  • Loaded itunes 10.6 to new Windows 7 and get black screens in Stores.  Albume covers are OK but all print is very light gray that cannot be read.

Loaded itunes 10.6 on new Windows 7 computer.  All screens in Store are black with light gray text that cannot be read.  Album jacket covers are OK.

With that one, perhaps try Drgoo's suggestion from the following post:

  • I want to open my email using firefox, but since installing Google Chrome, all email links are opened with it, and I don't have access to my firefox tool bars to email a page, etc.

All email are opened by Google Chrome since I installed it. I want to use Firefox with its toolbars for emailing pages, etc., and there seems to be no easy way to email a page using Chrome.
I tried uninstalling Chrome, but then could not open any email.

Make sure your Firefox set as default browser? See:

  • Print quality for light gray gradients and shadows

    Hello all,
I am putting together a single page flyer which will have light gradients and shadows on the objects.
Think Apple-ish light grays and shadows...
I would like to get an opinion here from someone in the know as I am much more of digital guy than print.
    1) What is the lightest gray I can work with that would print well?
When setting up the CMYK color should I simply set it at say 10% 10% 10% 10% or is there some better mixture for light gray gradients. i.e. slightly blue for example, or rich black mixture.
    2) When creating the gradients in illustrator, should I go from the gray to transparent or is it better to set up a gray to white gradient?
    Finally,
When creating my supporting images with the shadows and gradients, would it be best just to create them in Photoshop and place them in my illustrator document and leave Illustrator for the text alone?
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate your help

Let's assume you are working in Illustrator.  Here's my advice:
    Hello all,
I am putting together a single page flyer which will have light gradients and shadows on the objects.
Think Apple-ish light grays and shadows...
"I would like to get an opinion here from someone in the know as I am much more of digital guy than print.
    1) What is the lightest gray I can work with that would print well?
When setting up the CMYK color should I simply set it at say 10% 10% 10% 10% or is there some better mixture for light gray gradients. i.e. slightly blue for example, or rich black mixture.
    - It should not be necessary to use 10% across the board.  It comes down to how you want the shadows and gradients to appear.  You ask what is the "lightest" Gray.  That depends on the press and paper.  Let's also assume you are planning for high end offset on a high end glossy "White" stock ( paper ).  A 10% Black is fairly reasonable, but you could plan for 5%K ( again, depends on press and paper ).  A nice warm Gray could be achieved with 7.5%C, 7.5%M, 7.5%Y, 0%K; a nice cool Gray could be achieved via 2.5%C, 0%M, 0%Y, 7.5%K. I would cross check a Pantone Process Color Guide for a reasonable choice.  Do not rely on the monitor.
    2) When creating the gradients in illustrator, should I go from the gray to transparent or is it better to set up a gray to white gradient?
    - It should not be necessary to set your gradient to transparent.  A typical scenario would be K > 0W; only specific requirements demand transparency.
    Finally,
When creating my supporting images with the shadows and gradients, would it be best just to create them in Photoshop and place them in my illustrator document and leave Illustrator for the text alone?
    - That depends on the file, the background, and a few other considerations.  The key to shadows and gradients in Illustrator is they be applied as part of the final step in the file prep process.  If you create the shadows, for instance, in Photoshop, the end file size may end up larger than you anticipated.  And, the shadow would be resolution dependent ( less flexibility ).
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate your help"
Before you get started with your file, contact the print vendor to find out what type of press and what type of paper they plan to use on your job ( of you haven't already ).  Don't forget to set your document resolution in Illustrator ( assumed ) and the Raster Effects resolution.  Another important thing to remember is nail down the actual Gray ( i.e., lookup in Pantone Process Color Guide printed on the paper type you plan to use on press ).

  • ITunes stuck with White on Gray Background

I need help with iTunes please.  Since I installed Lion, my iTunes switched to white on gray background, and its so hard seeing my lists on the sidebar.  I've tried going under the preferences and choosing "dark" but that doesn't do a thing.  Once I click an item it turns black luckily but I've ejected my iPhone accidently while syncing a number of times which the last two times caused it to wipe everything and I had to enter all the info back on from a backup
I updated everything before Lion and iTunes didn't do this;  just after Lion.
Any ideas on how to to change it back?
    It would be much appreciated!
I've attached a screen shot just in case, for a visual
    Thanks!
p.s. I went through the discussions already on here, i saw a similar one but it was a university one and it had to do with iTunes store not a personal iTunes account and it was about 3mos ago and there was no resolution...apologies in advance if I'm not posting in the correct place.

Spoke with apple support as my iMac was still under applecare.  The answer is a corrupted file.  Solution is:
Delete the Caches folder in the user Library and in the Preferences folder, next
delete the com.apple.itunes.plist file.  Restart the computer.
To locate the user Library folder which is now hidden in Lion:
in the Finder hold down the option key while clicking on the Go menu in the finder.  Select Library Folder This opens the Library folder.  Navigate to the above folder and file.
    This worked for me.

  • How to Move All Emails from MAIL to ENTOURAGE

After 30 years married to Windows I have filed for divorce and am entering a new relationship with Apple via a new Black MacBook. (you may have heard the expression "once you've gone Black you'll never go back"!)
Although many Mac things are elegant the move from Outlook Express and Outlook to MacMAIL was disgustingly painful and amateurish. I now have 25,000 emails mixed up together in MAIL. (They were formerly neatly separated in Outlook Express into various accounts with sub-folders according to my various businesses and projects.) The Apple store that guided me was totally uninformed about the abiity to transfer intact account structures from Outlook Express and Outlook and so I am left with 10 years of filed emails all mixed together ... what a disaster in my first week of the new marriage!!
It appears to me that MAIL is not the serious business email program I need. I have heard that Entourage might be more powerful and flexible, and in fact is similar in functionality to Outlook. My HUGE concern however is the continuation of my pain in moving my emails again.
Can anyone assist me with credible advice on (a.) how to make the move (b.) is Entourage a truly business-strength program (c.) are there any programs to facilitate the transfer, and (d.) how can I get the file organization back again?
I have 6 separate accounts and own all my own domains through which I have my email services (incoming and outgoing mail is controlled by my servers).
This is my first real experience with Apple and it has been painful. While Apple seems truly superior in audio, video, music, graphics and "cool designer widgets" I have found that in a serious business environment in which email is a foundation of our businesses that Apple lags behind. I really hope to be able to embrace the Mac world totally but I am unimpressed about what I have found so far. I would be deeply grateful for any helpful comments.

Have you used Entourage's import feature?
It may not be exact since Entourage does not use the same account and filing structure as Mail but it will be close. There isn't any other way to transfer all Mail.app mailboxes and messages to Entourage that I'm aware of.

  • InDesign's [Paper] swatch came out printed with a light grey

Just to be clear here, this problem has been solved -- I'm just looking for an explanation as to why.
I have a design which uses the [Paper] swatch on several objects. I originally noticed the problem when I exported to PDF, opened the file in Acrobat Reader and printed it. Instead of knocking out the [Paper] areas, the printer laid down a light grey color. Thinking that it was an issue with exporting PDF or maybe with Acrobat Reader, I tried to print from InDesign, with nearly the exact same results (slight color variation). The issue then became more complicated when I opened the PDF file in Illustrator, and against all expectations it printed correctly.
I Google'd the topic and was not able to find a direct reference to anyone having this problem. However, I followed some advice I saw for problems that sounded similar. I went to Adobe Bridge and enabled ColorSync. At this point, the print still came out incorrectly. The final step that changed things, however, was when I went to InDesign. I set it up to print, and I went into the Mac printer settings ("Printer..." button). There, I changed "Color Matching" from the "Vendor Matching" setting to "ColorSync > Auto". After changing this setting, the print came out correctly. I went to Adobe Acrobat and changed the setting in that print dialog, and it worked as well.
My question is, what exactly is going on here? I am glad that the problem is solved, but I don't fully understand why it was solved. What is "Vendor Matching" and why was it giving me bad results?

I would suggest to run a preflight to make sure no RGB is found in the chapter. When exporting to pdf which settings are used? On the web you can find the correct settings for black/white pdfs.
Convert the first chapter to cmyk is another option, but check afterwards that all colours are "zero" and black is "100%".

  • Why do all emails in Mail today appear squashed & almost unreadable?

Everything in my email list is nearly unreadable, with the type and graphics appearing severely squashed. When I open up the email, everything appears normal.

Most mail servers can be accessed in a web browser as well as in Mail. For iCloud, you go here:
    iCloud Mail
    Check for sent messages.

  • How can I see all mail associated with my account simultaneously

My boss has tasked me with finding a way to be able to see all sent & received mail associated with an account in mail simultaneously. InBox, Sent, Trash, Drafts, all at once, is that possible?
    Thanks

    Hello!
If you want to see all of that in a single mailbox, you can create a Smart Mailbox from the "file" menu in the top left corner of your screen. It's a bit of trial and error before you get the rules correct, perhaps, but that will work.

  • Archive all email in iCloud to mac (even those in junk and sent)

This might seem to be a lame question to ask but read on...
I created a simple 'Rule' in Mail on my mac wherein all emails in my mailbex with [email protected] should be copied to Archive mailbox 'On my Mac'. When I apply the rule it only copies those in my Inbox and not those in my sent items or Junk. I would like all of them to be copied. I can't manage without the junk mails but i do want 'sent' mails to be there in the archive.
Also, I want this to happen in real time for all new emails received (at least in inbox) and sent.
sometimes i end up getting needed email in junk. when i drag it to inbox it should also be copied to archive.
please help me set this up.
    Thanks
    Neerav.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.
