All episodes for a TV show season download automatically

When I purchase an entire season of TV shows on the iPad, it automatically adds all episodes to the Downloads list and gets to work.  This could be 20 episodes X 2GB.  If I don't want to take up all this space - even if I have it- I have to manually stop downloading each individual episode.  Even after I do that, they stay in the Downloads list in iTunes on the iPad permanently.  They also start to download automatically the next time I open iTunes on my Mac.  However, on the Mac I can atleast remove them from the Downloads list after stopping the download.
For both iTunes on the iPad and Mac, there is no option for video under Settings->Store->Automatic downloads.  Is there another way to prevent this automatic download for TV shows when you buy a season?

I think I found a solution to this problem. Go into the Video app and tap on TV Shows and then tap on the icon for the show that is downloading. Next to each episode, there is a circle with a square in the middle of it. Tap the square next to each episode and it will disappear both from that list and and from the downloading queue in the iTunes app. When you want to download a particular episode, go back into the show in the Video season and tap on Show Complete Season. Now each episode has its own Download button.
Needless to say, it is insane that when you redeem a season purchase on the iPad, it insists on downloading the entire season.

I am not a knowledgeable user - have what may be a stupid question!  I just purchased a TV show series on iTunes and downloaded all episodes for the season.  But I believe i want them on my iCloud instead of my laptop.  How do I transfer them to the Cloud or duplicate on the iCloud?

You can't transfer any purchase to the cloud yourself, whether a TV programme/series will show in the cloud for redownloading in the future depends upon what country that you are in (TV programmes can't be redownloaded in all countries), whether you move countries (you can't redownload purchases made in another country) and if the rights-holder keeps them in the store (they occasionally remove their items).
As you bought it on your laptop then you could turn Settings > iTunes & App Store > Videos (under 'show all') 'on' on your iPad and it might show in the Videos app on it with a cloud icon against it for streaming/redownloading (it might also show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes Store app for refownloading whether or not you turn that 'on') - but that depends upon your country and only whilst it remains in your country's store. Similarly if you delete it from your laptop and tick the 'show iTunes in the cloud purchases' tick box on the Store tab in Edit > Preferences it might show in the TV Shows part of your library for redownloading (and whether or not you tick that it might show in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage for redownloading).
But you should be taking a backup copy of it, and anything else that you download from the stores, there is no guarantee that you will be able to redownload any item.

  • No longer receiving all episodes for a subscribed podcast

No longer receiving all episodes for Bill Maher,  They seem to be intermittent.
iTunes on my Computer shows last full episode is 232, but iTunes store shows full episodes of 233 and 234.
My Computer does show some recent episodes such as Overtime for Episode 234.
My computer does not even list the missing episodes, so I cannot request a download of those specific shows.
    Any ideas?

It may help to unsubscribe and then resubscribe to the Podcast. Alternatively you can download those episodes from the listings in the store.

  • How can I download all episodes for a podcast in 11.2

SInce upgrading the option to download all episodes is gone.  I think with all the problems introduced in upgrading I will stop installing new versions unless forced to

I do not have an 'My Podcasts' option.  Ihave Podcasts and On this IPod
In Podcasts if I click on a podcasts no options display.
Also, why do some of my podcasts now delete automatically after they have been played and some do not.
I have my Settings set to not auto delete
I have to say that Apple seems to screw more things up than it fixes.  I would suggest when you include new options you default it to keep it as it was before upgrade so people can choose to use it and not have to reset things not to use it

  • Why do episodes of a TV show season appear separately rather than grouped together?

I have a 64GB iPad3 and downloaded the first season of Avatar: the Last Airbender from the iTunes store app on the iPad.  After downloading, I went to the video app and saw that each episode was listed by itself rather than grouped together as a season.
Is there a way to fix this?  It is very frustrating because I like the feature of the video app that lets you watch episodes one right after the other.
    Thanks in advance!

The same thing happens on the iPhone. Apple changed this close to two years ago and I too don't like it. I have 160 music videos, Apple used to goup them by band if there were more than three videos by that band but now they are all listed individually like TV shows do.

  • Why does it take all day for my msn email to download on my iphone5?

    IiOS 7.1.1 iPhone 5
Lately, for the past month or so my MSN email takes up to a day to download new messages. It will check for new mail the say downloading and there it will stay all day. Sometimes I power it off and the mail populates but often it doesn't.  Any ideas why this is happening or is there something I can do to fix it?.

It's true that it is your Internet connection that is the problem but:

-Use a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi; Wi-Fi slows it down a lot!
Just no. Your WiFi is far faster then your Internet speed so the bottleneck is in your Internet speed, not your WiFi speed. The only way WiFi would be slower is if you are using an old A or B standard AND you have a really fast Internet speed. However if you are using G or N on your WiFi it will be faster than a good Internet connection. If your Internet is faster than your WiFi then it is fast enough not to have any streaming/download problems.
    -Buy a stronger modem
Again no. There is no such thing as a "stronger modem".

-Get a faster connection such as ADSL2, T1, Fibre Optics etc. from your carrier (such as AT&T)
Almost right. While a ADSL2, T1, Fibre Optics etc would give you a faster connection it is way overkill and a far greater expense. Just ask your ISP for a faster DSL/Cable connection. You are probably below a 3meg connection. You will want a 3meg or greater connection. And that will make your stuff download faster. The Apple TV likes a 3meg or greater connection.

  • ITunes Store says all content for Apple ID has been downloaded when it hasn't.

I have multiple Season Passes for TV shows. When I got to Store: Check for available content after receiving the e-mail that the episode[s] are available, I get a message saying that there are no purchases to download for this Apple ID.
When I go to the store, I can find my pre-paid purchases and download them from there. It's quite annoying to have to manually download all my Season Passes.
Why would my purchases not be available for download using the Check for content menu option but available in the store proper?
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

I wanted to follow up here because the problem turned out to be a problem with iTunes billing, something that other people may experience. Specifically, turns out the account was blocked because of a billing dispute, and that dispute was caused by the iTunes store's practice of not billing some sales at the time they take place (in this case, days or weeks afterwards). This led me to believe a charge was incorrect and having the credit card company block it, which in turn led to the account being disabled (without explanation).
The iTunes store needs to improve their billing practices so that charges are reflected promptly in customers' accounts. Otherwise problems like this will occur.

  • I have lost 6 of 13 episodes for two different shows, and am losing my mind

    Hi all,
I have been conversing via email with the iTunes support staff since June 27th, when everything went haywire. Now each week when I add another show, I seem to have a magical number of '7", and a older show drops off, when I post the new one.
I am not sure what to do, and people are getting pretty up set that the shows are not listed. I still keep getting the standard, and I quote: "Thank you for your patience. Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible." message from the support staff, and although I do appreciate what they do for all of us, they are ruining my business.
Can anyone help me figure this out, even my own tech people are stumped. It just seems like the magic number is "7" and I cannot go above that number with episodes.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I would be willing to "pay" anyone for there tech support, who can get this fixed for me ASAP. We are supposed to be listed in a national magazine next week, and I am desperatly trying to get this resolved be for the story hits.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide...
    Peg

No problem Peggy, glad to be of help.
For those in the future who read this post and might be having the same problem.
Peggy was using Blogspot and Feedburner to post her feed to iTunes. I had had the same problem with .Mac and iWeb and iTunes a few months ago with my podcast... ie only having a small number of episodes listed in the ITMS and new episodes causing older episodes to disappear. I found that the problem isn't with ITMS, it's with your blog software.
For my problem the was the fix... In iWeb, I went to the INSPECTOR and changed the number of blogs to 50 (it also changes the number of podcasts allowed)... saved, republished, ping'd and a couple hours later it was fixed.
With Peggy we did much the same, we went to her blogspot control panel, changed the number of blogs to 50 per page, saved, republished, ping'd, crossed our fingers, and that did it.
It seems that ITMS has an issue with the blog control panels directing how many episodes are current. So set your settings to allow as many as possible.
Hope this helps you all. And by the way... Peggy's podcast is excellent.
The name of it is "authors in your pocket". Do a search on ITMS and you'll find it. Very professionally done.

  • Why do all pages for a book show in the edit pane

When creating a book, in the pages panel, Left side, all the various types of page layouts appear to choose from.
All the various formats are great compared to iPhoto.
HOWEVER, they all appear in the main edit, (add photos panel).
It gives the appearance that all the pages will be added to the book purchase.
Is there a way of only showing the pages that I assign for the book to appear in the main window, Photo pages ?

    I figured it out

  • All member for Time hierarchy shows measures as NULL

    Hi!
    I've encountered the following problem.
I have a simple Time hierarchy in my cube (Date -> Month -> Quarter -> Year) and when I try to filter data by inserting the filter into nested FROM I get NULL for ALL element. For example:
SELECT NON EMPTY [DIM DATE].[DIM DATE].[All] on columns
FROM (SELECT ({[DIM DATE].[DIM DATE].[Year].&[2015]}) on columns from [CUBE])
    WHERE ([Measures].[Measure1])
At the same time this query returns me normal value:
    SELECT [Measures].[Measure1] on columns
    FROM [CUBE]
    WHERE ( [DIM DATE].[DIM DATE].[Year].&[2015])
Is there anything wrong with hierarchy? What should I check at the first place?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi, Simon!
    Thank you for your reply!
The problem is that I can't actually change those queries as they are generated by Excel 2010 while my cube is being browsed. Here is what I do in Excel 2010:
1.Dim Date hierarchy is in Rows section and Measure in Measures.
2.Dim Date is filtered - only 1 year is chosen.
    3. In my cube Total is empty, and here it is not.
    4. Here is what I get in MDX :
SELECT NON EMPTY [DIM DATE].[DIM DATE].[All] on columns
FROM (SELECT ({[DIM DATE].[DIM DATE].[Year].&[2015]}) on columns from [CUBE])
    WHERE ([Measures].[Measure1])
Here is screenshot of Step-by-Step Sample cube, with an example for this situation:
And the second query is for this simple situation:
1.Dim Date is moved to Filters section and the same year is chosen there.
2.Measure 1 is selected in the Measure section.
    3.Measure is not empty.
    4.I get this MDX:
    SELECT [Measures].[Measure1] on columns
    FROM [CUBE]
    WHERE ( [DIM DATE].[DIM DATE].[Year].&[2015])
Here is a screenshot of Step-by-Step cube with same query. In my cube the situation in this case is the same:
When I try doing this in MS Sample cubes - it works fine, totals are shown in both cases.
    Thank you in advance!

  • Why cannot I download an episode after I purchase the Complete Season Pass for a TV show?

The iTunes on my iPhone won't allow me to purchase Complete Season Pass for a TV show. After I click the Buy Season Pass button, I got an alert dialog saying, "Cannot Download: There is not enough available storage to download 'Supernatural, Season 7'. You can manage your storage in settings."
My iPhone has 12.4 GB available in the storage, and my iCloud has 24 GB out of 25 GB available. I don't quite understand what is actually the issue. Why is the iTunes not allowing me to purchase the Complete Season Pass? Is it because I don't have enough storage available on my iPhone to download all episodes of the TV show? If so, why can't I just buy the pass then download a particular episode I want without having to download them all?
Can you help me figure out what the issue is?
Here's a screen shot from my iPhone:

There is no accessible storage so that is why it needs to reload. The time it take is dependent on your network. Not sure why it is freezing this time but you may want to try a reboot (hold the menu and down arrow for a few seconds until the light starts flashing and then release)

  • How can I downoload show sI paid fro without going int o the Itunes store? The shows I paid for no longerr show up in the Cloud on my Ituneslists of shows

Before and when the Cloud started, Itunes still downloaded shows automatically or when I went to "Check for Available Downloads" and then it downloaded. Then I only got an email notice, but at least I was able to download from my Itunes, in the lists of shows, as the new shows were listed in the cloud. NOW, for the past 3 months, I cannot download any shows unless I go into the Itunes store and actually download each show from there. That is fine for one or two shows. but I get 25 a week, and it is a real pain. How do I fix this problem for my shows to download automatically into my Itunes?
    Norman Amsel ([email protected])

    iTunes prefs > Store.
Tick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases.
(if it's nto there. log out of iTunes store then log back in).
Then select TV Shows or Movies or Music.
To download items not on your computer, click the cloud icon with the down arrow.
You can also simply play the items and stream them without downloading them.

  • HT5731 I bought a full season of a TV show. I downloaded all episodes. When I go into my iTunes library, select the episodes I get a message of: This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. I can't for the life of me get the TV show to play.

I bought a full season of a TV show. I downloaded all episodes, I went to my  iTunes library, selected the episode I wanted to watch. I got this message: This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. I can't for the life of me get the TV shows to play. I went on iTunes and when to my purchases. Clicked on the episodes and the same message popped up. How do I get these to play? I also see my download box with an error message saying it has paused the download. I click unpause and it just pauses again. I have been able to get one of the episodes to play once through, but now it gives me the same message.

It's been months, so you may not care anymore, but you can't download songs from multiple Apple IDs over a 90 days period.  Sorry, it's not allowed for legal reasons.

  • TV Shows Season Pass New Episodes Gone from Check for Available Downloads

I was informed today from iTunes Support that new episodes that become available will no longer come through the Store > Check for Available Downloads option in iTunes.  If you notice in your email alerts for the new episode's availability, it now says the new episode is found in your Purchased items in Itunes in the Cloud.
I was also told that if I checked the options "show iTunes Purchases in the Cloud" in iTunes > Preferences > Store tab, that I could just see the new episodes in my Library under TV Shows.  I used to have this option and could access the new episodes and download them this way, but that option is now GONE as well from iTunes.  I am awaiting feedback from my Senior Support Rep as to what is wrong there.
I have been simply going to the iTunes Store > Purchased > TV Shows and clicking the "Not on this computer" option in the upper right.  I have to go show by show and click "Download" or "Download All".  I have almost 15 Season Passes at any one time.  This is a completely horrible way of downloading them.
When the new episodes were evailable via the "Check for Available Downloads" Option, I had my iMac scheduled to restart every morning around 4am Central.  That was about 2 hours after the date/time stamp of the email notifications.  Since iTunes was always set to start at login, it would automatically check for available downloads, and then download all the new episodes.  I then had a cloning process scheduled that would clone my primary iTunes Media drive to a backup iTunes Media drive.  That way if one fails I always have an up to date copy.
This new method totally screws up how slick this whole process worked.  I understand streaming and the cloud is the direction they are taking here, but this is completely an about face.  I want the new episodes available locally.  I want it downloaded when I am asleep and always available locally when I want to watch.  That way I dont have to worry about my internet availability.  Storm can knockout my internet.  The construction down the road can cut the optical cable.  I may loose my internet due to a problem with the ISP.  Having the files locally allows me to watch them worry free, buffer free, and when I want to.
I urge those who are annoyed by this change to provide feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
I really hope this decision to remove this functionality is not a sign to come.  Next I will be downloading each song one by one when I buy an album because I can just stream it in the cloud.
I love my Apple products and servies.  But this totally makes me hate them right now.

I am so angry right now I can not even see straight.  So the "Show iTunes Purchases Option" out of the blue showed up in iTunes this morning. I dont know if a reboot fixed it or what. But the attached screen shows the lack of that feature along with the iTunes version.
So I am not freaking crazy.  So I turned it on this morning to pick up 3 new episodes.  I get home tonigth and sit down on my couch with my Apple TV ready to roll... and it has completely screwed my "watched" vs "unwatched" episodes.  I come to my iTunes library on my iMac and sure enough TV Shows and Movies I know I have not watched or started are marked as watched.
I have not watched a single episode of The Following Season 1, and it basically shows I have watched all but the latest 4 shows.   I have not watched the last several episodes of Revenge, and it says I have not watched only the last episode.  I am guessing as to where I left off, but it looks like Episode 13 was the last episode I watched and iTunes said I had only not watched Episode 19.  Vikings Season 1 - I have not watched a single show, but it shows I have watched all but the last 2 episodes, 8 & 9.
Movies - I have bought and downloaded many movies that I have not watched as of yet.  For instance: Django Unchainted, and all 3 Matrix Movies.  I have watched a couple of the Matrix movies but not all the way through.  But I had gone back and marked them as "unwatched"  Everything else I had not even touched to hit play or nothing.  These are all purchases.
I hunted down all the episodes and movies I knew I had not watched... which took me quite a while... and then when I close and re-open iTunes and at least the watched/unwatched TV shows stayed as I marked them.  This was not the case when this feature was first rolled out with iTunes 11.  That is exactly why I never used this feature in the first place.  Time will tell if it remains stable with the watch/unwatched situation.
Regardless, I am so tired of taking time out of my day and writing iTunes support and giving Apple feedback so they can perhaps look into it and see if its a larger issue than just my library.  So they can also maybe realize that some of us actually love their product and want to see them continue to working awesome, slick, and incredible. But as someone who is looking at 8 active season passes.... I may never buy a season pass from iTunes again.  The reason why EVERYONE still has a TV antenna and/or cable is because the basic concept of how you watch the programming DOESNT CHANGE.   They should take this feedback simply as TV shows are not like Movies and Music.  TV shows happen weekly.  Having a consistent and repeatable process to get the shows and watch them each week is paramount.
I am usually very good with change and enhancements.  But this one.... has completely made me an irate Apple Customer.
