All files erased for no apparent reason?
I have an older iPod Classic Video and today when I opened my itunes, there were no files in my iPod.
Everything is gone. It may be a long shot, but is there any way to get all of the files back?
Also, I use itunes on a PC, not a Mac.
Thank you. I took a look at the thread. I did find one program that located all of the deleted files on my iPod, but I had to purchase the program to actually grab and save the files. :|
Anyway, I do have an older backup of my files on my computer, but I did lose some newer content that wasn't saved. Once I add all of that music again, I will definitely make a new copy of my updated files.
One other question...
Is this incident an indication that my iPod is dying or something?

First check to the iPad to see if it is syncing with iCloud. To do this, go to Calendar app and click the Calendars button in the upper left hand corner. Project file corrupting for no apparent reason
Hello-
I created a new project yesterday (FCP 5.1.4), and while working on it began to notice the streaming in the Viewer slow down (it became choppy and even felt that there was a bit of sync loss between A+V). This is pretty darn fast computer and no other apps were open.
So I restarted the computer, and when I tried to open up FCP by clicking on the project file, it just said the project couldn't be opened.
I examined the external (capture scratch) no problems with the disk, and have been able to open up other projects within FCP.
I created a new project today (had to start over) and everything was going smooth until just now when I hit upon the same problem.
My only theory is that the capture footage is somehow corrupted-but in the past if there were problems, they would just manifest as pixel glitches in the viewer. I'm happy to recapture the tapes, but could it be something else?

EricOn one of the original captured files, I found a few areas on it, where you could see harsh colored artifacts-that was one of the main reasons for recapturing. After recapturing, I got this problem:

now this clip was taken from a completely different tape from the clip I saw the artifacts on before. When I get to this area on the my sequence timeline, the beach ball of death appears, twice FCP has crashed, and the other times it has recovered itself.
Could it possibly be a video card issue? Or just another problem with the capturing? It's hard to imagine the tapes are damaged as they weren't anywhere hot for long, no areas of moisture or anything. -
Cannot send email from my iPhone or iPad. The server rejects a recepient for no apparent reason. The recipient is not new. This issue happens on reply or reply to all or froward; not a new email to the same recepient. What is happening?
I talked with a tech today and he said I cloud is having problems which should be resolved shortly.
In the mean time I used the .me smtp server settings which allowed me to send mail. -
For no apparent reason I can no longer receive or send emails. In fact when I touch the email icon all I get is a blank screen. I have checked my email settings all seems fine. Regards Kim
Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
My Ipad 1, for no apparent reason, no longer connects to the Internet. Our home wireless connection is working for all other devices.Any clues?
You can also try to reset your network settings on the iPad. Go to Setings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

I recently had a kernel panic in which I think my hard drive only had so much space left after I ran a bunch of drivers I thought I needed. I uninstalled all and moved files. For some odd reason I'm not getting sound of of my hdtv/monitor.HELP? I uninstalled all the drives and apps I download. I moived files either to trash if not needed, and others to other external drives. I went into disk utility and did a repair disk permission and verify disk. Clean out junk files. Now my hdtv/monitor does not give me any sound, nor does my mac mini. Can someone please tell me what to do?

It was working fine and then it stopped working for no apparent reason. The data was simply null, no errors or warnings. I put traces in the backing file and verified that the life-cycle methods were indeed being called and that data was there, and yes, both were indeed the case. Data is being set on the SimpleStateHolder and it's just not transferring over to the producer side.
In order to rule out environmental issues, I've done this on multiple machines. Also, I started a whole new project, got backing file setup, verified that it worked, started developing with it and one time I deployed and it was broken again. I rolled out the changes I had just made but it didn't matter. The earlier code still failed to work although it had been working moments earlier.
So, any ideas? Has anybody else encountered backing file issues like this and if so do you have any suggestions on debugging or fixing them?

I have no sound on my MacBook Air for sending and receiving messages. All sound settings have been checked and are OK. This problem has arisen many times and is intermittent in the sense that the sound returns and disappears for no apparent reason.
Open System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects
Select: Play user interface sound effects
And make sure the Mute box is not selected.
Now open Mail. From the Mail menu bar clik Mail > Preferences then select the General tab.
Make a selection from the: New messages sound pop up menu. -
one account goes offline for no apparent reason. I check Mailbox drop down menu for Take all accounts online, check correct password OK, turn mail off and on, reboot computer, etc. Nothing seems to work. Has happened in the past, but has also "fixed itself" after unknown time periods. One account has not been working now for awhile. I would like to get to the bottom of this.

When I open Thunderbird it takes up to 5 minutes for the prompt to come up to enter my password. This has just started happening-for no apparent reason. I opened the program in 'safe mode' and it made no difference. Please advise.

OK, so, opening in safe mode does not change behavior.
I'm on Mac (ver 10.9.5), Thunderbird 31.3.0 - up to date.
I'm using a POP server. If changing to IMAP will be beneficial please give instructions. I didn't find anything helpful on the Mozilla site for doing this.

It takes 2+ minutes for my password verification to come up.
It no longer automatically downloads new emails once I am able to enter password (I checked the account settings and it IS selected to do this).
It takes 1-2 minutes to send messages (no attachments).
I can't think of anything I may have done to cause this change in the way it works. Is there any other specific information you'd like?

They might actually be the same Apple ID. When you have an email and use it to log into iCloud it will create an iCloud alias for you. I have an @live.no appleID, which also has an @iCloud.com alias that are otherwise identical.
If you log into applied.apple.com with the @gmail.com account you should see the @iCloud.com as an "alternate" email address.
You might also have created a new iCloud account/Apple ID when you used iCloud the first time. Then this @iCloud.com will not be connected to you @gmail.com address or any other mail addresses. You can then log out of that Apple ID at Settings>iCloud and log in with this @gmail.com Apple ID and sync contacts. -
Firfefox crashes for no apparent reason, it will/can not file a report, I think it may be xmarks!!
Firefox crashes for no apparent reason and at no apparent "same point" I have two machines that this is hapening on, both are running Firefox 3.6 and Xmarks back-up.
Standard troubleshooting steps in order are as follows:
Power the iPad off and on.
An iPad reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.
Restore your iPad with iTunes from your iPad's backup.
Restore your iPad with iTunes as a new iPad or not from your iPad's backup.
If no change after the last step, your iPad has a hardware problem. -
Time Machine Backup cancels for no "apparent" reason

I am using Time machine with Snow Leopard and an external WD My Book 1TB HD - I am using the very latest WD firmware/software (made for Snow Leopard) and was making successful automatic backups for several days until recently when the backup started canceling for no apparent reason. I installed the Time Machine buddy widget and found this message:

Error: Flushing index to disk returned an error: 0

I tried a manual backup and the same message. I waited until the next automatic backups and got the same message - each and every time.
I have searched the Time Machine section and nothing specifically addresses the error message.
Any ideas on what is wrong and how to resolve it? I thought about erasing the HD and starting over but that seems draconian.

These are all mds having problems in the Spotlight index on your TM drive.
Could my anti-virus SW be an issue (I am using VirusBarrier X6)?
Quite possibly. Exclude your TM disk from it, or turn it off.
Also exclude your TM disk from Spotlight indexing, at least temporarily, via SYstem Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy.
That will likely fix the backup problem.

If you're running Windoze, of course, the Windoze side needs all the usual anti- stuff of a PC. -
Photoshop CS4 and CC/CS6 crashing for no apparent reason (Windows 7)
I’m currently having a serious problem with my Photoshop CS4 where it continuously crashes, for no apparent reason, since July 16, 2013. I have done everything recommended via Adobe forum to try and fix this problem though it still persists. It crashes randomly and I am usually unable to use Photoshop for more than 20 minutes. Since this incident, I thought that perhaps updating my Photoshop to the current version i.e. Photoshop CC would fix the problem. Can anyone PLEASE help?I to have the same issue and it all started after switching photoshop cc's layout to 3d mode now everything crashes repeatedly... Thankgod AE still works but yeah ps 3d system is the culprate here b/c It worked perfectly for 4 months for me until i tried there crappy ps 3d system!
