ALL HTTPS SITES LOAD EXTREMELY SLOW - WHY?

I am running windows xp + firefox 17 - any https site loads very slowly , while in other browsers no problem at all.

If you reset Firefox or otherwise cleared the cache/preferences, the SPDY setting may have been saved/stored. You can try to '''Clear Now''' the '''Cache''' and '''Site Preferences''' with '''Time range to clear''' set to '''Everything''' via '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History Clear Recent History] and check each time after enabling and disabling.

  • IWeb sites load extremely slow from various computers

I am sure this must be the case for everyone, but if I click on an iWeb link vs. a homepage link the difference in loading times in amazing. My old homepages load in seconds, iWeb in minutes.
This is the case if I go to the iWeb page on my mac, my pC at home, a PC at work, whatever.
    Have others noticed this?

    Hi NH Sullivan,
I too have also noticed less than satisfactory loading times, even for simple iWeb sites. (Again, regardless of platform, browser etc.) It seems to take a particularly long time to load the navigation sections and photo galleries.
I have not looked into a solution to this, but I have looked at the source code for iWeb generated sites and to me (Although I'm not an expert) there is a lot of unnecessary code.

  • Site loads really slow in File Window

Dreamweaver 8 on Mac OSX4.11 stopped loading my site instantaneously in the File Window.
All other sites load fine, but 2 sites load extremely slow; both are Wordpress sites with lots of files.
I deleted 1 of the 2 sites and recreated it, but it still loads slow.
When I try to switch to it in the File Viewer, I get the spinning color disc for quite a while
What can I do to get sites to load instantaneously again?

    Sites that load fine -
    http://DStall.com
    http://LiturgicalDesign.biz
Site that takes extremely long time to load -
    http://LifeGivingSpring.info
All sites use same hosting provider, but are hosted on 1 account,
by way of folders (similar to subdomains, but they are standalone sites with their own domains)
But I'm talking about the sites loading in the File Viewer on my computer,
and not the remote server connections for the sites.

  • All videos load extremely slow

I have the Break app and the YouTube app and all videos load extremely slow on my ipod touch 5g. It makes it not worth trying to load any videos. I'm currently at work and the wireless here is limited to 1mb. But I have my ipod touch 3g sitting right next to me and it loads at the expected speed (based on the bandwidth cap here). Is the video quality increased automatically, sucking more bandwidth? I can't find any settings to change the quality though. This makes viewing videos not even worth trying.
I'm going to do some tests tonight when I get home which has a 8mbps average download for wired so my wireless won't be limited at all.
Anyone else experiencing any slowness isssues with videos?

Internet videos are becoming more bloated all the time.
Many things can affect it though.

  • All design programs running extremely slow and takes forever to save and sometimes shuts down randomly?

Ok so  I'm a design student at a community college (about to graduate soon and will be continuing on getting my BFA) I have all of the creative cloud suite. I have Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, etc. Recently I started having problems with all of the programs. Whenever I work in the programs they would run extremely slow. Recently, I tried to save a .eps file that was only about 1.2 GB and it took me an hour to save, and this was when I was working off of my computer desktop. When I place the .eps file in Indesign, everything would go blank and it would freeze up. Also I had an error sign popping up from InDesign saying "out of memory". Im not sure if that is related to my computer's hard drive or indesign itself. I just started using creative suite so the creative suite is pretty new to me. Sometimes in Indesign when I do the Command+w to preview the whole project, it would be completely black and showing nothing and I would hit escape and the whole software screws up. Then I would do a force quit on the software and then Indesign would say there was a serious error and must shut down. That error message has been popping up several times now. I also talked to Apple support and they suggested me doing a Repair disk utility (which I am currently doing right now) and also recommended me contacting Adobe since they know their software. I checked software to see if there is any updates that is needed but everything is up to date. I'm not quite sure why its acting like this so I'm reaching out both to Apple and Adobe to see if both can help me solve the problem. If anybody had experienced this problem before and could help me troubleshoot this issue that would be great.

I installed the creative suite about a year ago, and this just started happening last weekend. I didn't think it would be a problem and that it would last for a day since I was working on InDesign all day and Illustrator and it usually goes away after I finish using the programs. But this has been occurring for about a week now and has not gone away. and yes the other programs are running slow. I was trying to resize some images for a client and Photoshop was acting extremely slow  when I was trying to resize the image and also place an image into a 8x10 document in Photoshop. I'm not sure how to find my system specifications.

  • Ebay will not load on safari, firefox or camino, but all other sites load without any problem. Can anyone help?

ebay will not load on safari, firefox or camino, but all other sites load without any problems. Why is this? Can anyone help?

It should be: Click on Home Folder (the House) and to the right Library is shown, click on the arrow on the Library folder to reveal its contents and then click on Cookies to reveal its contents and then move the Cookies.plist to the Trash as Carolyn suggests.
    Then try eBay again.

  • YouTube - loading extremely slow!

YouTube videos are loading extremely slow! This happens if I am connected to WiFi or 3G. They use to load a lot faster when I first bought my device.

Since you're in the EU it seems, I won't recommend turning off IPv6... a general fix otherwise.
Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Then Apply.
You can also add them to your Router.

  • Working with firefox 28 on WinXP. https sites load well, but http sites do NOT load at all. Same happens on other browsers

I've tried uninstalling, downgrading, upgrading Firefox (from version 17 to Aurora)
and still the problem persists! I've shut down firewall, performed malware checks,
cleared cache, history and cookies, started in safemode, and still nothing!!
'https' sites (such as Facebook) load perfectly well, as opposed to 'http' sites that do
NOT load at all, getting the following error:
«Firefox could not establish connection to server in www.example.com.
    - The website may be temporarily unavailable or busy. Try again in a few moments.
    - If you can't load any page please check your computer Internet connection.
    - If your computer or Internet connection is protected by firewall or proxy,
verify if «browser» has permission to connect to the Web.»
I have the same version of firefox running on win7 on other computer and it works
    normally!
Some 'http' sites will load if I insert an 's' after 'http' making them apparently
    'https'.
    Help please!! Thank you!!

well here it is, but are you able to...., but how big can you see this image, or are it just to load it down to paint, well here it is, and as i said, you must translate it, or you must tell me if it are possible and how i change the language, because this was downloaded on norwegian.well, as i said here is it!

  • I purchase this approx 6 yrs ago, recently had to purchase Mac OS X Snow Leopard for my daughter new IPOD to work.  But this crazy computer is extremely slow, why??? Please help.  Very fustrated!

I purchase my Mac approx 6 years, recently purchase Mac OS X Snow Leopard disk for my daughters new IPOD to work, computer is extremely slow, others refuse to use it, why is it slow, I know very little about this computer and have hated it from day one! Please help.  The most I have on this computer would be photos, never downloaded movies, and have approx 40 songs.

The best option to make it faster would be to manually go through and erase all of the junk (files you never use) from the computer. If you want a much faster way (depending on how many files you have, this can take much longer), you can copy the files you'd like to keep to an external HD and then erase and reinstall OS X.
Erase and Reinstall OS X using the OS X Install DVD
Note: This will delete all data on the disk. Back up important files before continuing.
Erasing and then reinstalling OS X can give you a fresh start, making your computer exactly as it was whenever you received it from Apple. This can solve various problems such as corrupt system files.
Insert your OS X Install DVD into the computer's built-in disc drive (if applicable) or your computer's external USB disc drive.
Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.
Press the Power Button to turn on the computer.
Press and hold the D key on the keyboard until the Recovery partition loads. If this does not work, shut down the computer, press the Power Button to turn on the computer, and then hold in the Alt (⌥) button immediately after you press the power button. Then, select the Mac OS X Install DVD to boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD.
Select Disk Utility and then choose Continue.
Select your startup disk (Macintosh HD by default) from the left.
    Select the Erase tab.
Choose the Format pop-up menu and choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled), enter a name for your disk, and then click Erase.
After the disk is erased, choose Disk Utility > Quit Disk Utility.
Select Reinstall OS X and then choose Continue.
    Follow the instructions.
    I hope I helped.

  • All Apple Computers running extremely slow

All iMac and MacBook Pro  Computers in my house have become extremely slow in the past month or so.  I expanded the memory in all of them to the max but the problem has worsened especially with the MacBook Pro.  Before the expansion, I upgraded to 10.9.1.  What could be the problem?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. This procedure is a diagnostic  test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem. The backup is necessary on principle, not because of anything suggested in this comment. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The procedure will help to identify which such modifications you've installed, as well as some other aspects of the state of the system that may be pertinent.
Here's a brief summary: Copy a line of text from this web page into a window in another application. Wait about a minute. Then paste some other text, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, paste again. Details follow.
You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken while booted in “normal” mode. If the system is now running in safe mode and is bootable in normal mode, reboot as usual. If it only boots in safe mode, proceed anyway.
Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script. It does nothing but produce human-readable output. However, you need to be cautious about running any program at the behest of a stranger on a public message board. If you question the safety of the procedure suggested here — which you should — search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of damage. If you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them.
The script will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but it's really a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it.
If you have more than one user, and the affected user is not an administrator, then please run the script twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The administrator is the user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time. If you can't log in as an administrator, just run the script as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign ($) or a percent sign (%). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    clear; shopt -s extglob; Fm='\n%s:\n\n%s\n'; Fs='\n%s: %s\n'; PB="/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c Print"; Prm () { [[ "$o" ]] && o=$(sed 's/^/   /' <<< "$o") && printf "$Fm" "$1" "$o"; }; Prc () { o=$(egrep -v '^[[:blank:]]*($|#)' "$2"); Prm "$1"; }; Prp () { o=$($PB "$2" | awk -F'= ' \/$3'/{print $2}'); Prm "$1"; }; Prs () { o="${o##+( )}"; [[ "$o" -ne 0 ]] && printf "$Fs" "$1" "$o"; }; a=$(id | grep -w '80(admin)'); r=1; [[ "$a" ]] && { sudo true; r=$?; }; { [[ "$a" ]] || echo $'No admin access\n'; [[ "$a" && "$r" -ne 0 ]] && echo $'No root access\n'; system_profiler SPSoftwareDataType | sed '8!d;s/^ *//'; o=$(system_profiler SPDiagnosticsDataType | sed '5,6!d'); fgrep -q P <<< "$o" && o=; Prm "POST"; o=$(nvram boot-args | awk '{$1=""; print}'); Prs "boot-args"; o=$(($(vm_stat | awk '/Pageo/{sub("\\.",""); print $2}')/256)); o=$((o>=1024?o:0));  Prs "Pageouts (MiB)"; s=( $(sar -u 1 10 | sed '$!d') ); [[ ${s[4]} -lt 90 ]] && o=$(printf 'User %s%%\t\tSystem %s%%' ${s[1]} ${s[3]}) || o=; Prm "Total CPU usage" && o=$(ps acrx -o comm,ruid,%cpu | sed '2!d'); Prm "Max %CPU by process (name, UID, %)"; o=$(kextstat -kl | grep -v com\\.apple | cut -c53- | cut -d\< -f1); Prm "Loaded extrinsic kernel extensions"; o=$(launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)|\.[0-9]+$/{print $3}'); Prm "Loaded extrinsic user agents"; o=$(launchctl getenv DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES); Prm "Inserted libraries"; for f in cron* fstab lau* sysc*; do Prc "$f" /e*/$f; done; Prc "hosts" <(sed '1,10d' /e*/hosts); Prc "User crontab" <(crontab -l); Prc "User launchd" ~/.launchd; o=$(find {,/u*/lo*}/e*/periodic -type f -mtime -30d); Prm "Modified periodic scripts"; Prp "Global login items" /L*/P*/loginw* Path; Prp "User login items" L*/P*/*loginit* Name; Prp "Safari extensions" L*/Saf*/*/E*.plist Bundle | sed 's/\..*$//;s/-[1-9]$//'; o=$(find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 \) | wc -l); Prs "Restricted user files"; cd; o=$(find -L /S*/L*/E* {/,}L*/{A*d,Compon,Ex,In,Keyb,Mail/Bu,P*P,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo}* -type d -name Contents -prune | while read d; do ID=$($PB\ :CFBundleIdentifier "$d/Info.plist") || ID=; ID=${ID:-No bundle ID}; egrep -qv "^com\.apple\.[^x]|Accusys|ArcMSR|ATTO|HDPro|HighPoint|driver\.stex|hp-fax|\.hpio|JMicron|microsoft\.MDI|print|SoftRAID" <<< $ID && printf '%s\n\t(%s)\n' "${d%/Contents}" "$ID"; done); Prm "Extrinsic loadable bundles"; o=$(find /u*/{,*/}lib -type f -exec sh -c 'file -b "$1" | grep -qw shared && ! codesign -v "$1"' {} {} \; -print); Prm "Unsigned shared libraries"; o=$(system_profiler SPFontsDataType | egrep "Valid: N|Duplicate: Y" | wc -l); Prs "Font problems"; for d in {/,}L*/{La,Priv,Sta}*; do o=$(ls -A "$d"); Prm "$d"; done; [[ "$r" -eq 0 ]] && { o=$(sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix\.cron)|org\.(amav|apac|calendarse|cups|dove|isc|ntp|post[fg]|x)/{print $3}'); Prm "Loaded extrinsic daemons"; o=$(sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook); Prm "Login hook"; Prc "Root crontab" <(sudo crontab -l);}; o=$(syslog -F bsd -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|pagin|timed? ?o' | tail -n25 | awk '/:/{$4=""; $5=""; print}'); Prm "Kernel messages"; } 2> /dev/null | pbcopy; exit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter your password, the script will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important, so don't worry about it.
The script may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear in the Terminal window.
You can then quit Terminal. The output of the script will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. All you have to do is paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V again. If any personal information, such as your name or email address, appears in the output, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
Others may offer you advice based on the output of the above script. They don't speak for me and I don't endorse their comments. Only someone who understands the script and has tested it is qualified to interpret the output.

  • RAW picture previews loading extremely slow since IOS 8 using the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit

    Hi all
First, sorry for my poor english, I hope you understand my problem.
Device is iPad Air Wi-Fi with IOS 8.
I just realized this issue yesterday. I wanted to import some of my RAW pictures from my Nikon camera's SD card, using the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit. In the Photos app / Import tab, the RAW picture previews show extremely slow. It takes a second to show each photo preview before import. A second for every single picture preview
For example, if you have 500 pictures on your SD card, and you want to import pictures from this card but just some selected, then you need to wait for an overview preview a lot of minutes. On IOS 7 this process was maybe 10 seconds for all of the pictures...

Same problem here. As a professional wedding photographer, sifting through my photos while on the go is the reason for me purchasing the iPad (Retina) 2 years ago, I now have an $800 paperweight after iOS8.x.x. Apple, if you actually read these, please inform your engineers to fix this in the next update or at least provide us with a solution to return to iOS7.x.x. Makes me wonder if there is any QA or testing that goes on before an update is released. As an FYI, here's my thread from a few weeks ago: Native Photos App, Slow... No, I mean really slow.

  • Suddenly my TC network only permits access to HTTPS sites- all HTTP sites say "safari can't connect to internet"

This morning my TC wireless network suddenly does not allow any devices on it connect to HTTP sites. "Safari cannot connect to the internet"
My OS X 10.9.5 Mac email works, as does GMAIL and Yahoo mail apps on smart phones on the TC network, but none of the devices behind the TC network can access regular websites.
What's interesting is that the other wireless network in the house (the one we use for guests) does work on HTTP sites. This router is plugs into the same cable modem as the TC.
I've recycled everything, and did a hard reset on the TC, but to no avail. Any ideas?

You have the TC setup wrongly .. it should be in bridge.. it sounds like you have it in double NAT.

  • Why is InDesign CS6 loading extremely slow????

The company I work for has bought several licensed copies of the creative suite and ever since it was installed; the machine with the following specifications that I use:
    CPU: i7-3770 @ 3.4 (4 core, 8 threads, 8mb cache)
    O/S: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Built 7601)
    RAM: 8GB DDR3
    V/C: Radeon HD 5450
    HDD: 60GB OCZ-Vertex 3 SSD (Primary)
    HDD: 1x 2TB + 1 x 1TB SATA 3 drives.
Approximately 3 weeks ago, the machine became unresponsive due to a Photoshop CS6 64-bit issue along with Internet Explorer. At which point, I had to kill the process in the Task Manager; and ever since then, it has not been the same since.
All 64-bit applications for Adobe Creative Suite, take so long to open; that I can go and get a cup of coffee and come back only to find that it is still bloody loading. If I load for example, Photoshop 32-bit edition, it loads almost immediately. This is good at first, however as soon as I use the drag drop feature as I always do. Especially when I need to crop a high resolution image, regardless of whether the high resolution image (8MB to 16MB) stored locally or on a server; the application takes for ever and ever to load the damn image.
The amount of memory allocated to the application, starts at just over 125MB and then spikes up to 1.5TB; at which point still does not do any thing except sit there idling for no apparent reason.
This morning, opening InDesign CS6, took approximately 10 minutes to open itself. My recollection last week, I had closed all files before closing the application itself. So why the hell is it taking this bloody long to do so.
I have checked the Adobe Application Manager and everything is up to date. Microsoft Windows 7 is up to date. So what else is the problem. Could it be the services that is causing the issue?
    Answers / Solutions please?
    Thanks in advance.

Before I deleted the fonts, I checked the time date stamp. As I also use Corel Draw X6, a program call "Bit Font Navigator" which loads third party fonts and gives a listing; where you can choose which fonts you want and they can be installed. The installation is only by shortcut, so the actual fonts themselves, are not actually sitting in the Fonts directory; unless of course you physically copy the whole thing into it which is rather stupid.
Every time I load the system (fresh boot), there is an indicated time date stamp on the very day in which it automatically loads the fonts from an external source into the Windows Fonts directory.
I only checked the latest dates and subsequently deleted the fonts of that particular grouping; which was 29/04/2013. I didn't touch anything else. As for Tahoma font, I checked that too. It shows the date as 11/05/2011. Just to reiterate, I only touched the fonts that had the year 2013 in them.
After a reboot thereafter, that's when I noticed these further issues.
Hmm..... I think it is possible I might have deleted Verdana by mistake, since the time date stamp for that is 03/04/2013. In which case might explain the circumstances I experienced.

  • On all https sites I get 'the connection to -url- was interupted while the page was loading.

This occurs on my mac and on almost all websites using https. I've tried clearing the cache and other tips in the 'Errors loading secure sites' help topic.
I could not even post the question from my mac because the support page uses a secure site, so this is posted from a pc.

That is a message coming from that server.<br />
It is also possible that your firewall is blocking or closing the connection somehow.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
