That's because you have to connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. You need to activate the iPad within iTunes on a computer - if the iPad does not have iOS 5 on it. iTunes will tell you what to do once you connect the iPad and start iTunes.

You have to connect your iPad to your computer now and restore the iOS software with iTunes. The update went bad. Read about how to do it here.

I have two hard drives on my G5(2004). How do I get to choose which hard drive is the start up disk when I turn on the computer? Is it the shift key I hold down?
depending on which model of G5 and OS installed will depend on whether a key command will work
alt at start up may work, if it does not, use the start up disc setting in;
apple menu > system preferences > system > start up disc
of course, the second drive must have a compatible OS installed for it to be able to boot. -

i recently purchased an iphone 3gs second hand .wanted to use i tunes and whatsapp but kept saying need to udate to lastes firware or what ever so went on itunes to update. update started but keeps failing now phone wont work at all .all we get is either apple logo or pic of usb and itunes logo.andy help would be gratefully recived only had phone a day.has sony experia and wanted to change to apple and fist time its now useless.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the iPhone 3GS can only be updated as far as 4.2.1
Requirements for WhatsApp are iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
As noted here > WhatsApp Messenger for iPhone on the iTunes App Store
So that app cannot run on the iPhone 3GS.
I stand corrected but apparently you may not be able to update the device regardless.

I have an 800mgz imac when I got it it booted up just fine i changed the internet from dial up tp broadband save it turn it off to connect broadband now it wont boot all i get is the apple logo and the spinning gear?
Another thing that you could try it is deleting or copying to desktop the preference files for networking. Mac OS will regenerate these files. You would then need to reconfigure your network settings.
While this discussion provides a solution for a different problem. I believe the files would be the same for all network configuration problems.

You need to get into single use mode for steps one and two that are listed below.
This page will tell you how to get into single user mode.

Basically, you hold down the command-s key then powering on your machine. The command key has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar. On a PC keyboard, it will be the windows key, I think.
( Do you know Unix. You are in a Unix single user console. ) The setup commands you need should be listed on the screen. For Mac OS 10.4.11, the commands are:
# Type the follow two instructions to access the startup disk in read/write:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
The mv command is also the rename command. move within a directory.
basically :
mac $ cd /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
mac $ ls
NetworkInterfaces.plist com.apple.nat.plist preferences.plist
mac $ pwd
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
mac $ mv NetworkInterfaces.plist NetworkInterfaces.plist2
mac $ mv com.apple.nat.plist com.apple.nat.plist2
mac $ mv preferences.plist preferences.plist2
mac $

# mv is move or rename
mv -i the-name the-new-name
# You can just rename the file back to what it was with mv command.
mv -i old-name new-name
Here is what these commands mean:
cd is change directory
pwd is a print working directory
ls is list
sudo is Super user do
mv is move or rename
For cryptic comments, you can always uses the manual command which is man. For example:
man mv

mac $ cd /Users/mac/Desktop/ttt\ html\ copy/
Do you know about tabing? Type in a few letters of a name then press the tab key. The computer will type out the rest of the name if it is unique.
Press the up arrow key to see the previous command(s).
To edit a command, use the left arror key to more left and the right arror key to move right. Use the delete key to delete the key to the left. Type a letter to insert.

When I turn on my iMac it comes up with the login icons which I then choose and log into. The password works and I then get the apple icon and the spinning wheel. After about a minute the Apple icon turns into a prohibited icon. However, if I log in under the guest icon, I can access the wifi and get to Safari. I really don't know what to do next. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Are you running any A-V? If it's an iMac 21.5, I don't think you're running Leopard, 10.5. Probably at least Snow Leopard, 10.6. This is the Leopard forum.
This article says meant for 10.3.9 and eariler, but contains some still useful suggestions.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1411
Try a Safe Boot. Shift at the startup chime and expect a much longer time to boot. This will bring you to a login screen with "Safe Boot" in red.
Look at this as well.

All I get is a grayed out box where the graphic should be when I open up an old indd file.
Occasionally when I open an old indd file (created by PageMaker and last saved to CS4 format) some of the graphics (tifs) do not show correctly. All I get is a grayed out box where the graphic should be. The only work around that I have found so far is to have one of my co workers open the document with InDesign CS4, and cut and paste the graphic to Photoshop and then save as a png file. Once the graphics are resaved they import correctly. Note that these graphics will NOT display correctly in any InDesign version higher than 4. I do not have access to any of the original graphic files (the computer they were created/stored on is long gone).
To add insult to injury, when I try and replace and save the document into CC2014 something gets damaged in the file since the saved (CC2014 version) document will not export to a pdf.
I would hate to install InDesign 4 back on my machine since I am currently running CC2014 on a Windows 7 laptop.Anyone have a better solution? Thanks Bob.
I am thinking along the same line.
It's interesting that some of the unaffected graphics in the document come up as embedded, but some are just placed there with no link information.
I guess it's just a matter of how the original graphic was treated or saved.
